When I was learning, I couldn't get the hill start right at all. My instructor eventually said, "Away and have a go yourself without me and the lads around, and come back when you feel you've got it". A half hour later I was back and smiling like a good un! Some o those hills around Inverness are fierce! lol
How did you find your mod2 in Inverness? I'll be sitting my mod 2 later in the year in Inverness (had to cancel my test because an OAP in a van turned right into a side road in Nairn a few months ago when I had right of way, snapped my right leg and right arm, crushed my 125 like a can)
I'm riding at the moment on my CBT.. I have been watching many RUclips videos motorcycle teaching people how to ride safely on the road and everyone has different methods and different ways of teaching.. my point being, this is the best channel I have come across yet for showing people exactly how it's done and not just explaining it. Thank you for helping me ride safely .. thank you so much.. it is totally different riding a bike than it is driving a car. I have to even think from other more to wrists and it is a lot to get your head round when you're on a road in busy traffic.. I've been riding now for 11 months.. and I absolutely love it.. it was either a motorbike or a horse 😂 I went for a motorbike.. I have two motorbikes I have a scooter 125 Peugeot.. Honda 125 geared.. so much information you need to think about while riding it isn't just as simple as getting on the bike and going for it.. so at the moment I'm riding the Honda that's what I did my CBT on.. I'm frightened that I will pick up some really bad habits.. not bad habits that will get me killed but just the more you ride on a CBT the more you think you're an excellent rider.. I hope you understand what I mean but thank you once again for the clear clarity instructions.
Passed my Mod 2!! I want to say a massive THANK YOU for all your tips which I took on board whilst on my test - you really are a legend and I cannot thank you enough for your advice throughout all your videos! You are THE MAN!
Thank you for your helpful videos, passed my Mod 2 today. Thought I'd failed as my examiner took me back to the test centre without doing the independent ride but turns out he couldn't be bothered and passed me with a clean sheet!
Thanks for your videos mate. Really helped and watched a couple before smashing my mod 2 today with zero rider faults!!. Did CBT to MOD 2 in 10 days and lots of watching your vids! 👍🏼
I'm very grateful for the time you've put into these videos regarding mod 1 and 2 etc, as I'm gearing up to take direct access (no pun intended) and due to your efforts I know what is ahead of me. Thanks mate. EDIT: also...found you due to doing a search for Suzuki SV 650, which, as it turns out, is currently my ideal bike! However, that's subject to change at least 193 times more between now and the summer!!!!!
Glad you found them helpful mate. Yeah that's thing about getting your licence, so many bikes to choose from. I changed the handlebars on my SV to the straight bars, completely changed the bike. Made those longer journey's much more comfortable. All the best with your training and tests. 🤜🤛
New (US) rider. Wish I'd seen this hill-start before figuring it out on my own. Trying to do front brake and throttle was my first poor-approach (multiple fails-more-than-success), but foot/rear brake is the key.
You know I never really did hill starts, angled start prior to my MOD 2 and was worried about it but watched this video and others and tbh was really easy manoeuvres to do but I'm very thankful for these type of videos as helped me pass everything first time ❤
Hi 👋 thank you so much! I am total beginner. I found it very difficult 😕 hopefully with the practice, i will get better I was told to wait a year for a bike test. As yet not ready. I got lots bad habits did ibt, but still i struggling a lot. Specially right turns and u turns. But very clear explanation!
Great video. again. Thanks. if i might add a tip. HILL START: if you're on a hill, you're going to have brakes applied to prevent roll back anyway. So only hold REAR brake. not front. Just drive of as normal with rear brake applied, when you notice you cant pull away, slowly release the rear brake whilst driving off. it's a simple as driving off. dont overthink it. drive off. if bike slow, release the slow pedal. it's a hill so will need more revs anyway.
if you go straight ahead in a mini raoundabout on your left lane can you do a right life saver to my right or life saver dosen't apply to mini roundabouts
Hi Chris who do you recommend to go to for lessons and tests.? I used to have a 125 cc many moons ago now I'm 59 years old I want to get my licence to drive Up to a 600cc bike can I go straight for the A licence ?
Hi great videos, really simply explained, straight to the point! Just a quick one if you know, doing angle start is it ok to put the right foot down or it's supposed to be left one anyway?
Super video 👍 Great presentation as always. Haha, my first attempt at the hill start on my CBT went slightly pear shaped as I launched somewhat out of control up the hill! So practice practice. Being a car driver for so many years, I shall think of the rear brake as being the hand brake where hill starts are concerned. I know the perfect place to practice them near me too, just need to get a bike to practice on now 😁 Cheers dude, much appreciated video.
@@MotoEcosse Practice is going to be the key with me 👍 Now that it looks like it might stop raining for five minutes, I can think about looking at some learner bikes...I know learning to ride when it's wet is essential, but the thought of doing in a test ride in the wet, with 0 wet riding experience kinda put me off 😁 Take it easy up there.
@@DoomNedwob yeah that first time out in the wet can be nerve-wracking. The thing to remember is brake way earlier than normal, don't grab the front brake, just ease it on and be careful of lines and road marking as they can get slippy. As long as your sensible, staying within the speed limits and taking things nice and easy you'll be fine. 👍
@@MotoEcosse cheers for the sound advice again mate 👌 🤔...Moto Ecosse School of Motorcycling...Moto Ecosse Motorcycle Training...hmmm, sorry just thinking out loud 😁
I do have a question -- If for whatever reason you do a wrong lifesaver during the test so say that you intend on turning left and you end up doing a lifesaver to the right, will they mark it as a minor?
It all depends really. Forgetting or doing a wrong lifesaver you'll definitely get a rider fault (minor). Some examiners are stricter than others. If you forgot a life saver or did the wrong one before moving position i.e changing lanes, turning at junctions etc chances are it would be a major fault.
Hey man, I hope you're good, I've done my test on Tuesday and failed again. However I managed to get only 3 minors and 2 majors. The 2 majors were pulling up on the left (pulled up on a slope pavement) and the second one was meeting and judgement in distance with other road users in the way. Any tips on how I can overcome any form of majors so I don't do them again. Did much better than last time. Thanks to your videos I've become a much better rider. I believe 3rd time I'll be lucky. But any tips on those 2 majors I've mentioned to avoid happening again? Will be much appreciated for your advice. 👊🏽🤙🏽
Hey, Jabir. That's hardlines about your test mate. When asked to pull over you don't have to do it straight away, it's worth riding on for a few more seconds to look for a safe place. The examiner will ask you to pull over in an area where they know it's safe, just make sure you're pulling over in a safe place i.e not in front of someone's a driveway, on double yellow lines or a bus stop. When you say you pulled over on a sloped pavement, do you mean the bike actually left the road or was it just a sloped road. I've added a link below to the government website that goes over all aspects of the mod 2. www.gov.uk/guidance/understanding-your-driving-test-result/motorcycle-module-2-on-road-test Hopefully you'll find this helpful. If there's anything else you're stuck with just let me know. 🤜🤛
@@MotoEcosse say no more, I'll have a look at the link first thing tomorrow and study it. I just want to say, it's thanks to your videos my minors went from 9 down to 3. It's thanks to you I've become a much better rider in the eyes of the examiner. I may have not passed this time but I'll definitely get it next time! 👊🏽
By the way, I got a question I want to ask. If the examiner tells me to pull up on the left at a safe place, but I can't find one, and ride further down to find another one, will I get a minor or a major for it? And what's the gap to start away between parked cars? Approx distance? Hit me up when you get this bro 👊🏽🤙🏽
Hi everyone, I just failed my mod2 because of the angle start. Please take your time to do your observation properly as cars can appear from anywhere at any time.
Well took mod 2. Didn't pass....didn't fail !! Due to some first class fuckwittery on mine and my schools part I never got to take it as my CBT had run out. For some reason I thought the mod 1 test superceded the CBT so it didn't need to be renewed and my school actually went through all my documents before we left for test center...so now I have got to re do CBT and try and get another mod 2 test 🙄
@@MotoEcosse Yeah. Obviously also my responsibility as well but frustrating. On the plus side I got a free 2 hour lesson going to the test centre and back 🤣 One of the guys who went before me only made it about 50m before test was called off. He turn right out of the test centre onto the right-hand side of the road and drive the wrong way down the street.
Agree or disagree. But as far as I'm concerned, bike tests these days are just a money-making scam. When I was younger, you took your test on the road with one guy standing and watching you. and it must have taken half an hour. All this crap now is just to con people out of a lot of money, and I don't like being conned. I haven't passed my test, but I was riding a 250-cc for years and never had any accidents. It may be important if you intend to ride a high-powered bike but not a 250-cc There is nothing they could teach me that would make me ride any better. I'm sure it would be easier and less hassle to get your pilots license. I only wish I had taken my test before they brought all this bullsh*t in.
