As a teen, Herman's Hermits was the first group I ever spent my own money on to buy an album of...hilarious watching it on video almost 50-years later!
Wife and I saw Peter and his current version of Hermans Hermits a little over a year ago. He did all his hits and there are a lot. Still recognizeable. Talked to him a few minutes he signed autographs and let people take pictures.
Just a few months after this performance, I was teamed up with John Gaughan. John, is the lad playing rhythm guitar on this video in the red trousers, union jack shirt, and blonde hair. We became the Moone Brothers (Steve & Bobby Moone)
I went to a Teen Idols concert a few years ago or so that had Davy Jones, Bobby Sherman and Peter Noone. When it was Peter Noone's turn and he sang "Henry the 8th", he had each section say "H-e-n-r-y!" as loud as we could and I think my section was the loudest.
I am 65 and grew up in Chicago. I remember being in 6th grade and my teacher took us on boat ride, a paddle boat of all things. We danced and sang to this song, in all likely hood it was the twist. We sang the way he did. Little kids imitate what they hear. Thanks for the post, "I am Emery the eighth I am," yes I heard him say "Enery", not Henry. We loved it.... Thanks for the post and of course the memories.... Ghost!!!
Oh wow,1973! I just graduated from high school. Peter was so cute with his long blonde hair & had a toothy smile. It's my first time to watch this here & I'm so happy. Jan 20,2021
What's great about this video is the fact that these guys had to know they were way out fashion at this point and yet they got up there and sold this goofy performance with their enthusiasm and commitment to being professionals.

Shocked that Peter Noone and company, jamming as Herman's Hermits, was such an excellent 90 minutes of non-stop entertainment at Sugarhouse Casino in Philadelphia last night. Noone is charismatic, charming and remains a babe magnet at 71-years-old, with a crisp voice and an arsenal of non-stop, edgy and quick-witted humor. They did a set that included many of Herman's Hermits' hits, as well as covers from the Beatles, Bobby Riddell, The Clovers (Love Potion #9), and hits made famous by The Kinks (Dandy), Johnny Cash (Ring of Fire), The Monkees (Daydream Believer, and many, many more. Every number was a crowd pleaser. Noone's band includes a well seasoned string combo, an accurate drummer, and Cleveland's Rich Spina, formerly of many bands including Gary Lewis' Playboys, and his own well-known Ohio act. Spina handles keys, backing vocals, and dons a guitar for one song. After a busy concert week, like the old Dusty was apt to do, - seeing the Smashing Pumpkins, High Flying Birds, and AFI - I was seriously pleased at how Noone and his compadres kept the fans constantly singing along to nothing short of a stunning barrage of 1960s favorites. There's nothing left to say other than it's nothing short of highly recommendable. I shot about 45 minutes of video before my phone gave out. But none of it came out as clear as this: ruclips.net/video/4nwb_wYXW0c/видео.html (You're right, Candy Kelii. They are wonderful.)
I've been a big fan of Herman 's Hermits for almost 66 years. Saw them in concert one time and it was fantastic. Even got my picture taken with Peter Noone, with his arm around me . Thought I was gonna drop to the floor. 😊 😊

His bit about Mick Jager being his dad is just hilarious every time I see it. Almost 20 years ago took my then 10 yr old daughter to see oldies concert and she fell in love with "Herman". Wow, this is almost as good as the studio recordings, if different. Fun fact: Peter Noone has said that "Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter" was well known to a lot of local British bands in the 60s and that these bands would often perform it at girls' birthday parties while substituting the girl's last name for "Mrs. Brown."
I literally bumped into him at Disney's Epcot Pavillion in 2007. I said "I know you!" And he said "hang on a second!" He had just run up the stairs from the stage where he was performing, turned around and ran back down and I had no idea what was going on. It was hilarious.
Hello, I saw the Herman Hermits in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the Show at the Holiday Inn....this was years ago.....John Steelman from North Carolina.
I was ages 4-6 when a lot of the 1960's bubble gum rock was new.I liked Her man's Hermits 'Mrs.Brown' song & 'I'm into something good', of that group.Wow, Peter sure had a strong accent, more so when singing about Mrs. Brown's daughter.LOL.The USA had tons of good 1960's & early bubble gum rock.I refer to it as 'feel good music'.

I still do not understand why the original "Hermans Hermits" could not have kicked on well into the 70's. They were good quality artists who I believe could have adapted to the changing music trends.
They were getting screwed over , Mickey Most the Hermit's producer did not treat them very well .He would use studio session men and things such as that , to upset them. Also there was an issue of money , not being divided in a fair manner. In the end they were all just tired of Peter .
A bit of an aberration. Noone had left the band a couple of years earlier, and was only back briefly at this point. Bassist Karl Green, lead guitarist Derek Leckenby (RIP), drummer Barry Whitwam and (at this point) John Gaughan on rhythm guitar had persevered quite well on their own, recording prolifically for RCA Victor, including the groundbreaking Whale Of A Tale album. Soon after, Noone was gone again, Gaughan was succeeded by the great Frank Renshaw (ex-Toggery Five) and Karl Green took his rightful place as front man. Having seen them dozens of times during that period, I can readily attest that the they were the best live band on the planet for the remainder of the 1970s.

Good fun, this! I can't believe I can still sing along with both songs. Wouldn't it be crazy if you were in the audience and recognized yourself while watching this? Especially if you were the girl who was chewing gum with her mough open?
Hermans Hermits first released Henry the Eighth in 1965. So when they were playing it here in 1973, it wasn't hip anymore. Thus the lackluster reception of the audience.
sure brings back memories of going to teen dances at the local community centre. the DJ would play this to get us up on the floor. ..worked every time.😄
Note that this is the 1973 lineup. The group split up in 1971. Lead guitarist Derek"Lek" Leckenby and drummer Barry Whitwam toured with their own version of "Herman's Hermits". After lawsuits, the courts judged both groups could use the name if the leader's name was used in the name ( i.e."Peter Noone's Herman;s Hermits).
John, a highschool friend of mine played bass in the Hermits on US tours, he did it for years. Not sure what version of what group but I know they opened a lot of really big shows, as well as playing local bars around the country, whatever they could book I guess. My friend, also a Kevin, just passed away in 2020. Great guy :)

Beautiful song, really love there's a kind of a hust
Hush?
Good fun, this! I can't believe I can still sing along with both songs. Wouldn't it be crazy if you were in the audience and recognized yourself while watching this? Especially if you were the girl who was chewing gum with her mough open?
It doesn’t matter what year He is a Great Performer and puts on a fun show
Hermans Hermits first released Henry the Eighth in 1965. So when they were playing it here in 1973, it wasn't hip anymore. Thus the lackluster reception of the audience.
Love this song
What a bunch of cuties in the audience! That cameraman sure knows how to pick them!
I was 20 when this was recorded, damn that was a long time ago.
Lamon hayhurst I was 21. I was 13 when Mrs Brown first came on.

I LOVE HERMAN'S HERMITS MUSIC!
I remember watching their film. Mrs Brown was a lovely little dog as a matter of fact.
Nagyon király dal.
Peter Noone was a great entertainer and an even greater person.
Hardcore Falangist you mean IS. I just saw him last night, and he isn't showing signs of stopping at age 69. ❤ Peter! 😍
I just saw him in Las Vegas on Friday. He is still fantastic and looks great too!

It appears to me that Lek and Barry are playing here along with Karl on bass guitar. Keith is the only one missing from the original line-up.
I must admit, I like Peter's haircut in the 1965 video quite a bit more than the mop he's got here.
Love his accent, it's quintessentially British
It's MANCUNIAN
Lol... but as a kid I bought their records and was thoroughly entertained...lol
Miss those old days...
Happy Birthday, Barry
When a song is just FUN!
Love the hair and the white bell bottoms
