I’m also am one of those guys with a ‘have a camera for all scenarios’ set-up. Sometimes I shoot with an Olympus 7070 with a 7.1 megapixel CCD sensor that’s barely larger than an inch and has a 24-105 f2.8-4.8 lens…. It serves as my ‘party camera’ that I’m not afraid of knocking around…. But it really makes me wonder why I really need my Leica cameras and other expensive gear. One of the game changers for me was just learning how to use flash for situations with low light. Even a built in flash can get a $50 dollar camera down to 80 ISO in a situation where you’d be shooting at 3200-6400 on a full frame sensor with a 1.8 lens to get quality low-light performance shooting moving subjects…. And that’s a lot of money to spend just to be afraid of using flash. Sure the detail of more megapixels and the DoF of full frame is nice… and I don’t like using flash if I don’t have to….but I’m starting to find that most of my problems when it comes to getting a good photo don’t require me spending thousands of dollars 😅
Great video, I go through period of GAS as well, but since going back to film life is a lot simpler, no new technologies etc. ...... although I can't decide between the Leica MP and the M-A !!!
Don't sell the gear! No need to worry about putting that cash back in your pocket. Keep the gear, enjoy the gear, make more money for the trips you want to take. I think if you sell the gear, you'll restart the cycle. Also I think it's funny how you're doing less editing with film. Since I've gotten into film, I've done way more editing. The problem is I decided to try film scanning, and that is an insane rabbit hole to go down.
I agree with this sentiment so much. Sometimes you end up missing old gear and are tempted to buy it again, wasting even more money. I have micro 4/3, aps-c and full frame, and I bounce between all three regularly, and love them all. Each is a different experience and keeps photography fun and fresh.
We love your GAS (I know doesn't sound right!) but we get to see a lot of gear reviews as a result. You could say you're putting your GAS to good use. Who else can say that! Is it true the Nikon D70 has a flash sync speed up to 1/500th second?
commit to shooting with only the Leica MP. Buy 50 rolls of b&w film and don't touch or buy another camera until you've gone threw the 50 rolls. Try to focus on content, experiment with the Leica. I shoot weddings and I have tow D750's that I've had for 6-8 years now. Those are my work cameras. My personal fun to shoot cameras are a Nikon fm2 and Nikon f4. I only shoot with those two cameras and only shoot Tri-X400 @ISO 1600

The end of GAS is being brand agnostic. Keep the MP though! 😂
Don't overthink it. Focus on the experience or joy you get from using any of them and follow that... within reason.
I definitely am
going to olympus om-1 as a wildlife backup fo weather, the sony system a7iv and 6700 are my go to

So… should I review the A7C II? Fuji X-S20?
