I know of no other piano concerto that is literally all over the keyboard for much of the duration. The amount of leaps are astounding. And the entire keyboard is utilized much of the time.
The expressive power of the sound architecture breaks with any form of transcription of the real to attach itself to the expression of an explosive universe. Colors and rhythm of these compositions are a language that gives life to exaltation
HERE IS THE AUTHENTIC KISSIN PLAYING THE BEST OF PROKOFIEV MUSIC. I SALUTE IN THE GENIUS OF THIS UNIQUE HUMAN BEING YET JUST AN ORDINARY HUMAN BEING AS WELL AS SPIRITUAL. THANK YOU FOR SHARING PROKOVIEV MUSIC TO ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. WITH GOD'S IN WHAT YOU DO FOR HIS PEOPLE THROUGH MUSIC.
Don't know if it is the best recording ever but at least it equals the recording made by Marta Argherich...definetely one of the most balanced interpretations
Agreed. Kissin’s playing is infinitely richer and imaginative than Argerich’s or Yuja’s. Kissin brings so much context to the music, and didn’t play it like it’s just another finger exercise or a marathon olympics.
Jonathan Comer I don't take to slander very kindly. I sued a wealthy and powerful organization and won. Keep it up and you will be the squashed cockroach. It's lunchtime where you're living?
zamyrabyrd Truth isn't slander old lady. Please try to bring a lawsuit you old troll. there are yrs of evidence against you or more to the point proof that what I have to say regarding you is the absolute truth.
Off night? Especially in the last movement... IMO, one of the very best recorded performances of this in print is with Gary Graffman, Cleveland Symphony, George Szell.
Nice, but my favorite version of Prokoviev piano 3 was at the London proms some years back, I think with Gergiev conducting the Kirov on a double bill with Shostskovich 4. A great concert, trawled radio 3 and youtube but looks like the recording has disappeared into thin air.
Although I could never in my life play like this man, I still think I have heard better performances of 3rd Prokofiev Piano Concerto 3rd Movement... don't flame me, just an opinion.. too slow, too sonorous, not enough pedal, and a bit militaristic..
+David Farhie Versions you prefer, and that's fine. I too, but that is why taste exists; however, it can be considered a bit more complex. Anyway cheers.
maybe you prefere these versions because they were the first versions you listend to and therefore you think it has to sound like this and not faster or slower... or you just became so used to the old versions that the new versions sounds weird to you
LinkBulletBill yeah also a great version, both are great versions! I saw Argerich last summer in Berlin and I am also a "fan" of her playing. I couldn't decide which version I prefer...
VanoArts I know a friend's friend who went to a masterclass with her. She asked one question about how to remember all this music, and Argerich basically replied saying that you have to see a piece as a story whether purely emotional, romantic, impressionistic, about beauty, a mix of some or all, and etc. other than just music, notes on a sheet, one needs to understand the story.
Absolutely smashing; Kissin played this publicly already when he was 12!! Now even better.
Beatiful piece and performance!
Wow by far the best recording in my opinion! Well done.
agree. Def one of the best. i love both this version and Martha’s
Prokofiev’s is best
I love this performance. The finale is absolutely glittering.
Too slow.
Magnificent!I love so much Evgeny Kissin!
The best version I have ever heard.
I know of no other piano concerto that is literally all over the keyboard for much of the duration. The amount of leaps are astounding. And the entire keyboard is utilized much of the time.
try listening to Prokofiev 2nd piano concerto
Definitely the best recording out there.
Love, love, love.
Beautiful !!! I really enjoyed this music.

Prokofiev is one of the absolute genius in music. Top 10
amazing!!Kissin&Ashkenazy are very very splendid!!!
What about the orchestral musicians?? They are the ones playing the music, not Ashkenazy.
Cool !

0:00 is a good place to start.
superb!!!
Thanks for uploading!
Love love love!!! ❤
Incredible
Don't know if it is the best recording ever but at least it equals the recording made by Marta Argherich...definetely one of the most balanced interpretations
Genios absolutos!!!
Stunning!
KIssin is the best pianist i have ever heard play this concerto (on the first place Abduraimov)
+just a lover Yuja Wang / Abbado
yes omg
Martha Argerich / Previn.
Agreed. Kissin’s playing is infinitely richer and imaginative than Argerich’s or Yuja’s. Kissin brings so much context to the music, and didn’t play it like it’s just another finger exercise or a marathon olympics.
Listen to Prokofiev own recording
Much better than my piano concerto.
Frédéric Chopin bahahaha.....
Dumb.
@@djmotise very true, better than both chopin piano concertos even though i like the first one
😅😅😅😅😅😅
Ashkenazy was the pianist in a recording of all the 5 concertos by Prokofiev.
sublime
Excellent!! ❤❤❤
Remarkable clarity, exciting but with depth, a frightfully difficult piece to play!
+Jonathan Comer is the sick stalker pervert Bjorling Singt and has been reported to youtube!
zamyrabyrd
Zamy is really the only known deranged sick stalker on the net.

The Van Cliburn/ Kyrill Kondrachin album , Mercury 60s is excellent. It the first recording made in soviet Russia with an American artist.
How can Prokofiev be that great?
really is remarkable!
Shostakovich piano concerto 2, same tonality although thematic construction is "military". Worth a listen.
Amazing
Off night? Especially in the last movement... IMO, one of the very best recorded performances of this in print is with Gary Graffman, Cleveland Symphony, George Szell.
MuseDuCafe best recording is Prokofiev himself
I also like the old Grafman and Prokofievs own record, even more Gilels- Kondrashin.
This is brilliant!
Don't know why but I love this 10:38
maravilha de música
So underrated
Underrated? This performance even received the grammy award fyi.
Huh?
23:50 !!!!
best 05:26
16:58 Casi la misma velocidad de Matsuev.......
Why the sound is so piano when it's classical music?
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good ! Too bad he didn't record the 5 concertos !
Nice, but my favorite version of Prokoviev piano 3 was at the London proms some years back, I think with Gergiev conducting the Kirov on a double bill with Shostskovich 4. A great concert, trawled radio 3 and youtube but looks like the recording has disappeared into thin air.
i meant WITH GOD'S BLESSING IN WHAT YOU DO.
SORRY.
2:30
What kind of monsters would give this a thumbs down?
There is definitely no spark between these two & just a little bit on the slow side !

VanoArts I think the first one was played by Argerich actually.

way too much damper pedal
