    This is why I hate the media obsession with QBs. I think that it could be potentially easily argued that Peyton Manning was probably a little better as a technical QB than Brady. However, Brady had much better defenses than Manning. The team is so much bigger than just the QB, but the QB is still really important. A great QB allows for continuity for team success. But if you put a bunch of terrible players around that QB they’re not gonna look as good. If you want proof of that look at College football.

    • @stephensybert3237
      @stephensybert3237 8 месяцев назад

      @@mani-xc9rs You’re kind of proving my point here which is that we over equate team success with individual quarterback success. First and foremost Manning is the Super Bowl 41 MVP, so he did play well in at least one Super Bowl. I’m not trying to say that Tom Brady isn’t absolutely one of the greatest players in the history of football, he absolutely is maybe the greatest. But to say he won so many championships based on him alone is false. Hell, even when he went and won one with the Bucs, he helped kind of build that team around him, and what did he make sure they had?? A great defense. Also Brady has openly admitted to adapting his game to be more like Manning’s as he matured. Tom Brady is one of the greatest football players ever, but Peyton Manning revolutionized the quarterback position as we know it into the field general model we recognize today.

    • @mani-xc9rs
      @mani-xc9rs 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@stephensybert3237 Nobody says it’s based on him alone. But to act like manning didn’t lose several games in the playoffs due to his own inadequate play is ridiculous. His loss to the patriots in 03 & 04 were on him, to the Steelers in 05, to the chargers in 07 & 08, the Saints in 09, jets in 2010. His defenses played good enough to win those games and he didn’t come through. That’s not to say that Brady doesn’t have games like that because he does but he also has a lot more games where he came through than Manning does.

    As a 54 year old and longtime fan of the NFL, I've lived through multiple dynasties and many great QBs. I was always privy to Montana as a Notre Dame fan even though I am a GIants fan and I still maintain he's one of the greatest. I feel as if the younger generations don't really enjoy the sport anymore as much as they like to argue about trivial things, instead of just appreciating the greatness in front of you. Everyone is a fraud now or was carried by his team or something to that effect. Mahomes is one of the most talented QBs I've ever seen and I just enjoy and appreciate his greatness while he's playing. That's just how I feel. I don't need to debate who's the GOAT or whatever.

As a Chiefs fan, I'm still over the moon on Mahomes' previous Super Bowl victory because I'm still floored that he did it on one leg. Dude could've retired after that season and I wouldn't have cared that he wasn't the GOAT because I'm not sure I'm ever going to see something more impressive than that in my life. Just savor the moment. You don't need to get emotionally attached to things that haven't even happened yet. It also just cheapens the whole idea of an "all-timer" if you're so eager to apply the label so quickly.

There was a time when Manning was seen as a perennial choker, when Steve Young was just Montana’s backup and Johnny Unitas was on the Steelers. All those guys became all-time great QBs in time. On the other side, you have guys like Marino who seem like they’ll own the NFL after 1984 or Aikman winning 3 Super Bowls in his first 7 seasons and never winning a playoff game after that. Basketball/NBA is even worse about this, but it feels like we are so quick anoint someone as ‘a GOAT’ to the point that it doesn’t feel that important anymore. The one thing that Brady has that, imho, puts him in the conversation, is his longevity and consistency, not his rings. Rings are a team stat. The list of QB's I'd take over Brady: Mahomes, Rodgers, Peyton, Brees, Montana, Marino, Elway, Young, Warner, Kelly, Moon, Tarkenton, and Dawson. Take any team Brady was a part of, replace him with any of those QB's, and you'll have a better team.
