    Here's something you don't know about four-wheel pop-up campers. They are extremely fire resistant as long as the top is down. I had one sitting in my driveway standing on the steel stanchions and the top was closed. The Santa Barbara Jesusita fire came through and burned my house down and everything I owned. Except for the camper! When I came home my yard was a moon scape, and the fire department looked at me and said how in hell did your camper survive?!! It was phenomenal. It was in perfect condition and everything around it was reduced to ash. It was a wind driven fire so all of the embers simply blew underneath it and it with stood the heat. The only sad part of the story is that I lived in that damn thing for seven months while rebuilding my house! It got old. After I got done rebuilding my house my friends would ask me if I wanted to throw my camper on my truck and go camping. I said: "no thanks" 😂😂😂😂😂 I owned it for eight years and it served me really well. I sold it for a price far higher than I expected and it was gone in a matter of weeks.

    Given the prices on these campers, these upgrades are LONG overdue. FWC has been far behind the competition for a while, even thought the prices suggested otherwise. I might actually consider buying a Hawk now that it's available with reasonably modern equipment.
    EDIT: Well, I just went to the website to build a Hawk slide-in and as I suspected these new options are absurdly overpriced, as are all of FWC's options. The Hawk is now a $60k camper with all of these options. No thanks!

      @@jumboshrimps4498 There is no "better buy" because everything is overpriced these days, especially if you want something well built that will last. If my wages went up as much as prices do, I wouldn't be complaining, be we all know that's not happening for the vast majority of people.

    Nice to see some new options. A couple suggestions I'd like to see: 1) a separating/composting toilet option; 2)an induction stovetop for those of us who max out the lithium/solar options, together with a diesel heater for those of us running a diesel truck tapped into the existing tank; would mean no more propane!

  • @jeepfahrer9781
    @jeepfahrer9781 9 месяцев назад +9

    It is great to see that FWC is developing their products further, I would be interested in more details about the new heater. Which Truma model is installed, where is it fitted and where does the energy come from? Liquid gas or diesel? How is the noise level inside and outside? Have you thought about good air distribution, this is key to minimize the formation of condensation on the side walls.

    Finally, got caught up with the the times. A great unit, and well built. 2 things, first, I have a long bed full size. They’re all built for short beds. Second, 60k is a bit steep. Is because of California parts and labor cost or the over whelming popularity of the now overlanding movement?

    Love my 2022 Grandby, and nice job on the upgrades guys. Just a little constructive criticism on the interior lift mechanism. The plane aluminum look is unappealing to the eye. It looks unfinished. Looking at it reminds me of the bare aluminum stock you can find next to the steel at Home Depot. When you buy a big screen TV wall mount mechanism it comes painted black, and even so most of it is hidden behind the TV. With your interior lift mechanism its out in the open, nice and shiny aluminum looking. At least paint it black or powder coat it. It would look way better and more aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. Its what I'd want anyways. See you on the trail! #Unfinished

    unsolicited suggestions: warmer solid wood for counters like bamboo would have been huge, warmer 3700k led ceiling lights, insulated/incapsulated lower half (spray foamed like shower stalls/hot tubs are then painted?), interior wall tracks or hooks in key locations (think ikea level of modularity, hooks, mini shelves, baskets etc..), door window with built in blind vs dingy pull shade, removable foam floor covering vs carpet, thinner ply or abs interior doors that dont stick out/weigh as much, nicer badging or plastic/alum branding vs the crappy decals and fonts.... paid premium product with wonky decals, fwc made awning brackets and/or rotopack holders easy in house win...
