Tbh if i had all the time in the world i would absolutely spend 2 hours in the gym, i love taking my time and being able to warm up, cool down, stretch, and properly rest between sets
I love what you mentioned about the exercise. I used to push myself in the gym for two hours a day until I was too shaky to even move. Anyway, just a little appreciation comment.
i think the thing is also "pushing yourself for 2 hours at thr gym" vs "going to the gym for 2 hours". if you're doing a routine with a lot of warmup, stretching, rest and cool down that already limits the time spent on pushing yourself (while making the activity safer), rather than coming in and going straight into strenuous excercises with no warmup or cooldown which would lead to higher fatigue levels even for less than a 2 hour workout. wish i knew this starting out
It’s so sad to see people think they have to push themselves everytime they exercise. Training intensely everyday, let alone for 2 hours everyday, results in overtraining, which takes both a mental and physical toll. Athletes, which most people think exercise intensely every session, mostly do polarised or pyramidal training. Trying to exercise intensely all the time actually decreases the effectiveness of the workout due to fatigue from the previous session. I agree with you and I also think exercise should not be intimidating or that exhausting. I hope people really use exercise to take care of themselves and to feel happy and not use it in a negative way.
Amazing stuff! All your videos are so well done and very useful. I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. Have you ever used any of these custom meal plan tools? I got one from Next Level Diet to help me lose some fat and I actually like their plans. Was just wondering if you've heard of or tried any of them yourself. Thank you!
I workout 3-5x a week doing 1hr to 1.5 hours (cardio and weights) - and I am not a model. I think her 2 hours is feasible considering her job depends on her body being lean.
Montreal bagels are hand rolled, smaller, thinner, sweeter and denser (+chewier) with a larger hole, and are always *baked in a wood-fired oven* after lightly boiling which gives them that crunch. Also New York style uses barley malt to feed the dough, whereas Montreal style used honey or sugar, and they often put honey in the poaching water too. I’m probably biased as a fellow Canadian, but Montreal style all the way. Always. Forever.
I appreciate the small bit about bagels. Growing up it was one of my fear foods and remember reading news articles saying they were worse than donuts etc. It's refreshing to hear they're just a source of energy like everything else 😊
It's so funny that I remember reading articles like that too. It may not have the been the same exact one you read, but the messaging was ubiquitous and all the same (more calories = bad). Even when actual dietitians were interviewed for those articles, calories were just as strong a focus as nutritional value because of course, diet culture is big business. Not having any exposure to nutritional information without the weight loss obsession and diet culture imbedded was incredibly damaging. The cultural weight loss obsession still exists, and it's now compounded by a lot of fear mongering about "clean eating," and millions of personal opinions on what that phrase means. I'm so grateful we have content creators like Abbey to counter at least some of the toxic noise!
I also love the “trying out the diet” series! I’m looking forward to the “boss level” of this series- trying Freelee’s diet! Jk I don’t even know how you’d start with that one
@@alli888 i'd love to see an attempt at optimisation but also a discussion of risk. i find it so scary how much influence freelee had back in the day and how many people made themselves sick because she was able make her diets sound somewhat sensible (i guess). i can't see a "freelee diet" being optimised in a healthy way without it becoming so far removed from the original idea that it would be unrecognisable as a freelee diet. but as the internet is swinging towards a "fruit bad bc sugar" trend i definitely see what you mean
Would be fun, but Abbey would have to change so much and add in pretty much every other food group apart from fruit that it wouldn't have much to do with freelee's diet anymore. Still, could be a fun way to discuss how to eat high carb but in a more balanced way.
@@AirborneAshes Yeah, exactly. You'd have to adjust so much that it would no longer resemble Freelee's diet 😂 Thank you for speaking against Freelee. The only thing that stopped me from becoming sick from Raw Til 4 was the fact that I thankfully couldn't afford to sustain it and realized that within the first month 😑 However, following Freelee for years did fuel my already unhealthy relationship with food and screwed me up mentally for a very long time. It took me years to unlearn all of her unhealthy nutritional advice.
Hot take: I thought onion tears were genetic until I cut an onion without my contacts in. I am now convinced contacts protect your eyes enough to prevent tears
Put a sponge or rag wet with cool water next to the onion and no tears. It busts the cell walls and an irritant that’s attracted to the closest wet thing sprays out when you cut it.
For someone who is working out 2 hours a day, she doesn't have a lot of muscle definition. I think she doesn't diet because I am afraid she doesn't eat a lot. She was really thin this fashion week and she definitely lost weight too. I think she does the model diet mostly: Coffee & sigarettes (and maybe a hint of coke). To be so thin and maintaining that, you can't eat a lot I imagine.
She's probably 1) naturally has a very slim, very small, athletic build *already* and prone to being skinny (which is totally opposite to me, slender but thicc and chesty, where she's tall, small chest, long and slim) 2) may or may not be blessed with a good metabolism 3) the exercises seems to be more cardio based. If you look at lifters who lift for muscle, it's VERY heavy. She probably does toning type strength training which is body weight or light weights, which can keep your shape but won't necessarily *build* muscle 4) per 3) she could be someone who just doesn't gain muscle to begin with 5) also yes probably doesn't eat enough in general. And carbs, really do help with muscle growth as well. As a normal everyday person, she would probably eat more. So all in all I'm sure it's half of her genetics and half of her behavior
@@aslhancanik5421 no not really. To a certain degree absolutely, but if you want to look relatively muscular, *most* people need to lift heavy, progressive overload, and continuously. If we compare (not body builders) but Instagram influencers who weight lift for athletics vs girls who just do pilates, literally nothing wrong with Pilates its really amazing, but it focuses more on long lean muscles, than getting bulked up and shapely. So bella could def be doing more toning, than actual "bulking" and growing, and still keep a slim shape. But again, all deoends on person too. 2 people could eat the same and exercise the same and still have completely different bodies, different muscle growth or definition, etc etc. But all in all, I believe Bella's strength training is less about hitting the weight room, and more like body weight exercises, light weights, Pilates, etc etc to keep her very skinny figure, yet leanly toned.
I know what u mean that no one has two hours to exercise a day but she is a model so it is part of her job almost to spend that much time and attention on her body
I just had a bagel and locks this morning. SO GOOD. I might think of a bagel without protein or veg as a treat (which I still sometimes do) but stacked with protein and healthy fats and veg that is called breakfast. Mmmm. Especially on a workout day. Extra smoked salmon please!!
Just saying, the photo of Bella holding a "green juice" is actually a matcha latte, which she does get often, and is usually photographed with. (Referring to 19:33)
I haven’t watched your content in awhile but I like the vibe you have now!!! You seem so much more happier and maybe more used to being on camera, your personality shines through much more now
For garlic: I think im slighty allergic to raw garlic or something so i started doing a big batch of garlic confit and sticking it in the fridge and its really a life changer when it comes to cooking. You can use one of the techniques for mass garlic peeling and it lasts for awhile depending on how much you put in and use normally. The garlic flavour isnt really lost and it adds a nice carmelization if you cook it a little further, plus you get garlic ingused oil with it too! 11/10 highly recommend 👌
Watching you chomp down on that bagel with the doubly bibs made me crack up, but also touched my heart in a weird way. I never realized that I don't combine avocado, cheese, or egg yolks... In my breakfast I will pick one because they're all so high in fat. So, it was nice to see someone eating all three of those together without fear.
My trick for garlic is to buy pre-peeled cloves in a bag (from Trader Joe's, but I'm sure you can get them anywhere) and store in the freezer. The frozen cloves are super easy to slice!
When you ate with the kids apron/bib on I never felt so called out 😂 I do that all the time if I have a formal event but need to eat/feed the kids during the day 🤣🤣🤣
The celeb "what-I-eat"s are often just "here's my favorite foods". Presenting it as a day's routine skews things (despite the disclaimer). I liked Abbey's video about the "cool girl" diet trope; this contradicts that. Seems unfair to portray this as even a possible daily diet (for anyone), especially when there is evidence this model is not free of diet and weight concerns. I get that the point is to push back against diet culture, but viewers deserve are capable of understanding a more nuanced middle ground.
Omg THANK YOU about the bagel thing. I saw a flyer at work, saying the same thing about bagels and to swap one out for a slice of toast. I almost took it down.
Tip: If you hate peeling garlic, you have to put the seperate garlic cloves in the microwave for about 10-30 seconds. Be carefull since they are hot when you take them out. After microwaving them, you can pop them right out :) *also a garlic press is the best thing ever. *You can get the smell of garlic and onions of your hands by rubbing something aluminum between your hands!
I remember seeing a video with one of the Hadid sisters, who called the momager to tell her she's feeling sick and weak, the mom gave her the green light for an almond 🙄 😒 one, not more.
Everything Bagel is the easy green veggie seasoning rockstar. Fantastic on pan seared green beans and asparagus too. And essential on avocado toast. And yeah, if Bella really eats this way that's great. Growing up with Yolanda and her ridiculous lemon water, well-chewed almonds, and one bite of birthday cake cannot have been easy.
I loved that your dog was spotting you for your exercise. Bella's entire living is based on what size she is, and she has the time to exercise. That's her life. However, I'd be highly surprised if this is all she eats.
You know this is probably Bella's cheat day rather than a normal day of eating. She's eating max 1000-1200 calories a day to keep her body so much under a healthy BMI. I'm willing to bet she moves more around the 1K mark as with a larger amount of calories her body would actually build muscle.
@@Sierra_Polerina you eat 2500 every day? And still no muscles from all that excercise? If that was me I would go see a doctor as 2500 is way more than your maintenance calories and it should show as either fat or muscle tissue.
@@BagznBirdz How do you know how much food some body that is not yours needs ? Needed calories vary from person to person. 2500 calories can be what someone might need. Genetics and activity play a huge role.
@@wendy.b.6613 and that is why I asked them if they eat 2500 daily. Hence the question mark. And yes, the calories usually show as either fat or muscle - I had a childhood friend that was half my size and ate twice as much, she did track&field and had muscle to show for it.
@@BagznBirdz I literally do eat 2500 at maintenance. I probably have slightly more muscle than Bella because I’m an aerial acrobat but It’s mostly in my arms and I have a similar body fat percentage to her. If she’s doing cardio or low weight high rep exercises like Pilates or barre I wouldn’t be surprised if she burns a lot of calories even with a relatively low muscle amount. Not everyone trains for hypertrophy
The main difference between a Montreal bagel and a New York Bagel is honey vs malt syrup. Montreal bagels are boiled in honey water before baking, and New York bagels are boiled in water with malt syrup. Montreal bagels are generally skinnier with a bigger hole, and New York style are plump with a small hole.
anyone who falls for her “I love eating” persona is actually so gullible. anyone that has had an eating disorder knows that that behavior is so common when u have an ED bc u don’t want people to find out how restrictive you really are. I hope Bella gets help truly
This is so true! I can’t believe people actually fall for it when models are like “omg I’m so quirky and relatable I love pizza! I’m just naturally severely underweight uwu”
If you put the knife over the garlic and give it a good bang so you crush it it's like 50 times easier to peel the garlic - has saved me a LOT of frustration!
Hi Abbey, just one note: The audio track sometimes is not very loud, but the intro (jingle) is. So if one turns up the volume to understand you properly the intro kinda rips ones ears out (especially when listening with headphones). Apart from that, love your videos!
That morning breakfast bagel you made looks fantastic. I’m going to add lettuce and tomato next time, I love vegetables and it sounds refreshing to add it in. I like it better than with sausage, I never thought of that! Thanks for the tip.

Always. Forever.
I Live in between St-Viateur Bagel and Fairmount Bagel in Montreal mmmmmmm :)
Your right. Only visited once yummy .😊😊😊😊😊
I love these twist videos, they really help me to think in the additive mindset rather than restriction
I’m so glad the videos are helpful
I appreciate the small bit about bagels. Growing up it was one of my fear foods and remember reading news articles saying they were worse than donuts etc. It's refreshing to hear they're just a source of energy like everything else 😊
Bagels are great!
Pretty sure I read those articles too and they ruined bagels for me 😢 but I’ve recovered luckily
I’ve been experimenting with limiting carbs at lunch because of my midday energy crashes, but instead I ended up having a bagel with tuna today haha
I don't eat them refined flour not good
As someone with a mom who always declared carbes as the enemy. I'm deeply rooting for Gigi and Bella 😐😐😐
I also love the “trying out the diet” series! I’m looking forward to the “boss level” of this series- trying Freelee’s diet! Jk I don’t even know how you’d start with that one
I like this idea though! How great would it be to show how great fruit is when paired with other vegan sources of protein and fat ❤
@@alli888 great point
You'd have to adjust so much that it would no longer resemble Freelee's diet 😂
Thank you for speaking against Freelee.
Same! I forget that I’m wearing glasses and the burn catches me by surprise since I’m so used to wearing contacts
They definitely do. I always thought I was just tough and never got watery eyes from onion until I chopped one with my glasses on haha 🤣🤣
Put a sponge or rag wet with cool water next to the onion and no tears. It busts the cell walls and an irritant that’s attracted to the closest wet thing sprays out when you cut it.
Can confirm, I refuse to chop an onion without my contacts in because I cry so hard I can’t see.
Contacts in? Not even slightly bothered
Glasses do the same protection
For someone who is working out 2 hours a day, she doesn't have a lot of muscle definition. I think she doesn't diet because I am afraid she doesn't eat a lot. She was really thin this fashion week and she definitely lost weight too. I think she does the model diet mostly: Coffee & sigarettes (and maybe a hint of coke). To be so thin and maintaining that, you can't eat a lot I imagine.
she’s probably taking an rx stimulant adhd med - longer lasting and legal as long as it’s prescribed to her.
She's probably
1) naturally has a very slim, very small, athletic build *already* and prone to being skinny (which is totally opposite to me, slender but thicc and chesty, where she's tall, small chest, long and slim)
2) may or may not be blessed with a good metabolism
3) the exercises seems to be more cardio based. If you look at lifters who lift for muscle, it's VERY heavy. She probably does toning type strength training which is body weight or light weights, which can keep your shape but won't necessarily *build* muscle
4) per 3) she could be someone who just doesn't gain muscle to begin with
5) also yes probably doesn't eat enough in general. And carbs, really do help with muscle growth as well. As a normal everyday person, she would probably eat more.
So all in all I'm sure it's half of her genetics and half of her behavior
Yup
@@lovelesswing458 can you explain number 3? Once you get muscular with weights, can you keep your muscles just by toning stuff minus the weights?
Good point!
Exactly. Like a musician practicing for 2+ hours a day -- it's part of what you do.
To Abbey and/or anyone it concerns: try crushing garlic with a knife before peeling it - makes it sooo much easier to peel and slice afterwards ;)
Yes omg I learned this a few years back and I was so glad before that I would peel them with my fingers /nails, and I would have BURNS on my thumbs
(Referring to 19:33)
Yes! I was going to say this, I completely agree with abbeys thoughts but the picture just isn’t green juice! I love matcha lattes.
@@EmilyM-jf2gb same here!
Matcha🤮
I haven’t watched your content in awhile but I like the vibe you have now!!! You seem so much more happier and maybe more used to being on camera, your personality shines through much more now
I thought the exact opposite
For garlic: I think im slighty allergic to raw garlic or something so i started doing a big batch of garlic confit and sticking it in the fridge and its really a life changer when it comes to cooking. You can use one of the techniques for mass garlic peeling and it lasts for awhile depending on how much you put in and use normally. The garlic flavour isnt really lost and it adds a nice carmelization if you cook it a little further, plus you get garlic ingused oil with it too! 11/10 highly recommend 👌
Please just be careful about bacteria! Oil and garlic is a huge botulism risk
It's such a good combo, I love avocado toast with an egg on it, some good toast, a slice of cheese, avocado, egg, and a drizzle of Sriracha on top
Yolanda is exactly how my ed brain talks to me lmao
Ugh same. “Their bodies are big and bulky”. Like wtf Yolanda?
My trick for garlic is to buy pre-peeled cloves in a bag (from Trader Joe's, but I'm sure you can get them anywhere) and store in the freezer. The frozen cloves are super easy to slice!
When you ate with the kids apron/bib on I never felt so called out 😂 I do that all the time if I have a formal event but need to eat/feed the kids during the day 🤣🤣🤣
How is it so entertaining to watch her cook . Lol she’s so witty and gives such good tips!
I just LOVE how no BS Abbey is😂 so refreshing, so relatable😌
After microwaving them, you can pop them right out :)
*also a garlic press is the best thing ever.
*You can get the smell of garlic and onions of your hands by rubbing something aluminum between your hands!
Editing in this was top Tier. Appreciate you
I remember seeing a video with one of the Hadid sisters, who called the momager to tell her she's feeling sick and weak, the mom gave her the green light for an almond 🙄 😒 one, not more.
Oh no not the almond
Ugh
Isn’t that like 7 calories??? That’s incredibly concerning.
You can freeze Montreal bagels. We do after we stock up at Kettlemen's in Toronto. Happy Holidays!
Love the chats with your cameraman. More of that please! 😂
I have a similar body type to her and I can eat 2500 cals a day and not gain weight. I’m just tall and exercise a lot 🤷🏼♀️
It might also be the thing about that.. You actually love eating when you restrict, you enjoy every bits of that meal because you don't have much.
girl I DIED when you started cutting the cucumber like a Kardashian-Jenner LMAO.
There’s no way Bella eats that much during a day.
If you put the knife over the garlic and give it a good bang so you crush it it's like 50 times easier to peel the garlic - has saved me a LOT of frustration!
I came to the comments to say this! Lol. Peeling garlic doesn't have to be tedious. You just have to give it a good smash.
@@Shaktibug Thanks! 😄 I'm not a native English speaker - and smashed just escaped my mind!
Hi Abbey, just one note: The audio track sometimes is not very loud, but the intro (jingle) is. So if one turns up the volume to understand you properly the intro kinda rips ones ears out (especially when listening with headphones). Apart from that, love your videos!
There is no way Bella’s nutritional intake is enough for healthy needs. Until, Abbey takes her diet to task and makes it real food!! Go Abbey!
🥰🥰
This was so interesting, and the food looks so good.
Using an electric kettle to boil water is way faster and more energy efficient!
That morning breakfast bagel you made looks fantastic. I’m going to add lettuce and tomato next time, I love vegetables and it sounds refreshing to add it in. I like it better than with sausage, I never thought of that! Thanks for the tip.
I’m pretty sure a “diet” by definition also is referring to the food you consume on a day to day basis. It doesn’t matter what you’re eating, it’s still considered your diet lol.
I don’t know why there’s 2 definitions on what a “diet” and people should look at diets as the definition that I just described.
The camera man/women is great, look at those angles!! Super high quality 🤯🤩
hey abby thanks for posting this coloquially
I don't need therapy, I need a cooking show by Abbey.
Please do a nutrition review for Ariana grande!! She seems to of gotten really skinny lately and was wondering what your opinion is on that. Is she really eating holistic and healthy Whole Foods or do you think it’d be healthy to add a bit more vegan foods to her vegan diet
Oh Yes, Abbey you need to help this one out!! I love how you always add your twist on these retrictive eating habits. As someone in recovery from anorexia - It's so helpful! 💜💜💜 Love from LA xo 🥰🤗👍❤
As a gal who puts oil, soy sauce, and everything bagel seasoning on her green beans, adding the fairy dust to the kale was a great idea.
Fairy dust? Cutie!😊😊😊
I don't drink coffee very often at all, let alone anything with caffeine. I have endometriosis and IBS so caffeine can irritate my stomach and give me horrid cramps. Not to mention caffeine doesn't give me energy. I went through a period of trying to use caffeine when I was tired and waking up at 2am to go to work a few years ago but it just made me feel even more tired. Found your channel when I started trying to lose weight and man has it helped me learn better ways to listen to my body and what it needs over just dieting. It has helped so much!
I love the new format of your videos. I smiled a lot at your funny comments))
So cute when you put the bibs on. Made my morning !!
I used to do 2 hours a day but I’ve been unwell the last year post covid. I wasn’t fuelling my 2 hours properly, sleeping enough, relaxing or distressing so will prob return to 30 min hiits eventually and just one hour a day because I’m learning to live at 80% instead of 100%
I've watched a few of your videos now, but hadn't subscribed yet.... then, when you said you use olive and butter because you prefer the taste of butter... "a little bit of bothsies"... in addition to all of the information and scientific studies you reference... I knew I found a nutritionist that I could actually follow and enjoy watching! Please stay amazing!!
Pretty sure that was a matcha frappe she was holding… the most amazing Starbucks drink to ever exist btw. I’m obsessed🤤
Wearing your kid's bib was just unexpectedly pure comedy genius. Almost spat out my tea in hysterics 🤣♥
I feel so bad for Bella and Gigi because I believe Yolanda is extremely the one to blame for how extreme their diet is. In the other hand Hollywood diets are never seeming to be that healthy.
working out 2 hours a day I think depends on the person. I enjoy it. I know that's not the case for everyone. I do alot of strength/resistance training. Feels so amazing, especially after a workout with all the endorphins still being released. I can easily working out for 2 hours. Although I don't do this 7 days a week like Bella. Prob 4-5x a week depending on what I got going on for the week.
I’m confused. The clips u were showing were older clips of Gigi and her mom, Yolanda, but you are referencing Bella.
Hi Abbey I'm back after a couple years hiatus, and I AM SO HAPPY I CAN FINALLY HEAR YOU! I have no idea why but I used to not be able to hear you.
Anyways, congrats on an adhd dx too! I'm also adhd 😊
I love the sense of humor! I fear when I become a mom I’ll loose my sense of humor, it’s good to know you didn’t!💜
You're hilarous and so cool, your preparations look so yummy! Subscribed.
19:10 I actually can drink some coffee and go to sleep :) It calms me
Models are like professionals athletes… their body and performance is literally their job so they do have all the time to workout with trainers who know how they can train properly. I used to be an athlete for the US team we would have 4 hue workouts every Saturday and 2 hours every other day then 1 hour of flexibility training Sundays plus cardio
Well damn I guess I like my bagels burnt then. That bagel was so pale Abbey! 😂
I LOVE BROCCOLI ON PIZZA. I am constant trying to get people to try it, and everyone acts like I'm being too wild. Thank you, Abbey, for helping people see the light.
I work out 2+hours 6 days a week, it’s not hard especially if it’s say a run in the morning and spin or weights or yoga in the evening. It’s not a lot and works for me because I love food.
youve been looking so good recently! you're glowing
I can't get through this video, "your girl" phrase is haunting me 🤣
I agree...what is this?! It is driving me crazy. Like just talk normal. 😭
I am going to use Bella as a template, *cough*click bait*cough*
I appreciate that Bella is honest. Almost noone in the world can have a body like hers and eat and work out „normally“. I hate when models eat burgers on camera all the time and then probably starve themselves or throw up after.
The bib is killing me 😂😂😂
PS: Your egg sammi is missing some hot sauce girl! 😘
Haha yes i was thinking where is the spicy Mayo?! 🥲
I love how you model a healthy non-neurotic attitude to food.
Now I have to go get some Everything Bagel, because when I do my kale, I sautee with leeks and mushrooms, just to have some nice contrast - EB seasoning would take it over the top!
As someone who has a 6 month old Australian shepherd puppy it’s relateable to see you try to work out with your furry fitness “instructor”.
And the pelvic floor comment? ☠️
I love my children but they are the reason I can never get on a trampoline again…

Discovered your channel last week and it's been a game changer in my mentality regarding macros and my relationship to food. Thank you, can't wait to watch your other videos and learn along the way!
That photo of Bella with “green juice” in the Starbucks cup actually looks like it could be matcha
I feel like I just acquired a few new cooking skills from watching this video, which is always welcomed.
I love seeing you eating and enjoying food! Sooo refreshing after so many years of diet culture, i.e. good foods, bad foods, blah, blah, blah. Also you're are sooo relatable, just like us, no fancy cooking and wearing our kid's bib to eat! YAY!
I work out 1-3 hours a day but only because i love it and it makes me feel good. I also eat like a monster because your body needs FUEL to perform intense work. Diet culture is a joke, eat a balanced diet or your best attempt at one, and eat more protein, carbs, and healthy fats if you are working out, doesn't have to be complicated. Thanks Abby for your videos!!
Yes 🙌 let’s normalize fueling our bodies properly, especially when hitting the gym!
Never been more grateful that I don't have to cut off caffeine due to time as I watch this video at 2pm with a coffee in front of me

Just bought a giant jar of minced garlic. Expiration is 2025. Probably lose it in another hurricane but use it every week.
