Okay, but the other difference between weekdays and weekends is the availability of time. “Comfort foods” can take longer to make. So yeah, my weekday breakfast is a Larabar and my weekend breakfast is an egg scramble with home fries and a smoothie. Because I don’t have to be at work by seven thirty on the weekends.
I was coming on to say the same thing! My food at the weekend is way fancier and more fun because I have time. Also from a financial point of view, I tend to treat myself a little more with coffees or nice meals out at the weekend because I budget for that. Oh and more treats at the weekend because I might see friends or go to the cinema or something. Deffo can be a red flag for some people splitting eating habits like that but it is a very nuanced point.
I get where coming from an ED recovery perspective hearing weekend/weekday would automatically trigger the whole “cheat” viewpoint. But for others, including myself, “treats” do not equal “cheats”. It can be from a time perspective, a budget perspective or for myself a fuel one. I am much busier on the weekdays. While I acknowledge the emotional connection we have with food and meals, from birthday cake to holiday meals, if I eat meals or drinks loaded with sugar or carbs I run sluggish and crash. I will eat more lean proteins, leafy greens, etc. during the week. If I have a chicken parm and a glass of wine for lunch, I wanna nap. The same goes for sugar laden coffee drinks. the coffee doesn’t crash me the sugar does.
Can I just say how I love that you give but don't give a fuck about food. I love how you have so much empathy and understanding when it comes to the roots of eating behaviors yet you don't treat food as life or death when it comes to ingredients or fun foods. I've literally binged like 3 hours of your videos in one sitting. Thank you for helping normalize some of my anxieties and validating some of my own personal thoughts on having fun and healthy relationships with food. Subscribed
For the crepes you gotta use a flat pan and way less batter, you spread with moving the pan. You flip it when the batter is almost not wet anymore (happens really fast) crepes are usually very thin:)
I love you Abby Sharp!! I am 65 and still f*****G alive after a 50 year battle with an eating disorder....I have done it all. I am in recovery now and trying to manage non restrictive eating in this world of diet culture we live in. Trying to find joy in the little moments between the yelling of not good enough in my head....thank you mom. I have seen Taylor's documentary and found it interesting and was impressed with her honesty. I enjoy your videos very much. I also had 2 boys who survived my crazy ways pretty well thank god. Keep doing what you are doing!!! well done.
Are you recovering going with the “All in”… unrestricted free eating? I love Becky Freestone, Elise, there some amazingED coaches on this platform that help alot! Im going to be 50 and been battling anorexia since I was 13😢 I want full freedom and food recovery bad!!! Its so hard! Im but Im praying 🙏🏼 I can go all in again! ❤ good for you!!!!!! I pray 🙏🏼 your still doing well!🥰😇👍🏼
I'm wondering if her "clean eating" during the week compared to "bad eating" on the weekends is because she has more weekend concerts thereby more cardio so she needs more calories and carbs for fuel. Basically she is calorie and carb cycling to keep her body in a maintenance state. If she burns lots of calories during one concert, that eating approach would make sense. Typically during the week she is on a bus or airplane or in the studio or interviews---less exercise.
I try to limit eating out to once a week. I don't consider it a "cheat" meal or day, but I do it for budget reasons. If I did not put a limit on it, I would probably order out every day and lets be honest, that adds up quickly :) I love the new format for your what I eat videos! Taking what they say and Abbeyfying them, its given great inspiration to do so to my own meals at home.
I'm the same way, it's easier for me to resist spending the money on fancy food/drink when I want it (which ends up very expensive) if I know when I have it budgeted for. I used to want sushi every day which gets so expensive fast, but by having it as my "Tuesday treat" I could budget for it once a week and enjoy it without feeling bad for spending so much money. And now I've moved somewhere which doesn't deliver sushi and it's torture.
Living on $800/wk (and needing to shave off some pounds), I rarely eat anywhere but inside my own four walls. That, of course, means grocery shopping though. It's gonna get me one way or another!
For me the “weekend structure” kind of works. I don’t crave “naughty foods” often but this helps with a kind of 80/20 for me. It’s not strict at all. But leaves me more relaxed. I think it depends on your mindset around food.
WOW is this sadly and frighteningly relateable. Her words in the beginning were literally my exact thoughts/beahaviors. I want to hug the younger me so badly suffering and in denial. SIGH. thank you for covering this Abbey, and as always with gentle analysis and approach.
i felt so bad watching you trying to make her breakfast! the food she was describing is actually a “galette” as its buckwheat flour and water. the batter should rest for several hours or even overnight before cooking and usually the pan is brushed w butter and cooked over a low heat, as high heat causes it to break cheese eggs and hame are add into the middle after being flipped and then the edges of the galette are folded over to make it a square shape and leaves the middle exposed so you see the food in the middle….yes very painstaking😂
That's sort of the point of these videos, inspired but w changes for different reasons depending on what abbey wants to focus on (certain wellness culture issues, making sure it's enough, etc)
It could be argued that I do the healthy-during-the-week-cheat-on-weekends thing because I make all of my own food during the week (and track what I eat bc I'm around food constantly at work and will eat mindlessly all day otherwise) and generally prefer "healthy" foods; then on the weekend I'm more likely to go to a restaurant, have friends over fir a meal, etc., so I'm less likely to track those days and am likely to have things I won't have regularly. But it's not about restriction, it's just the way things work out.
I really liked this video, I struggled before with an eating disorder, and I feel Taylor.. recently I became more aware of my body and how I eat .. and guess what? I have never been healthier before; I have more energy, and even my workouts have been way better. I feel lately I eat more, and my body is in a shape where I want it to be .. god bless you, Abbey on how you educate us to be on the right journey
As some others have already said, for me the difference between week days and weekends are time! I prep my breakfasts and dinners for the week because I work. On weekends I usually have more time to make things like pancakes! And as for the “skinny latte” I prefer my drinks from Starbucks to be made with skim milk and only 1 or 2 pumps of sweetener. Not because it’s “healthy” but because that’s how I prefer it.
Also, for the record, people don’t only run to be ~SkInNY~. For some people running is a savior from depression/anxiety/ and all sorts of other mental health-related struggles.
I didn’t even watch the video, but omg, now we’re not allowed to run because it means we’re trying to be “skinny”? I love running as do many people, exercise is good for your physical and mental health.
@@smeek794 Same, I love it! So much fun to go for a nice run in the woods for an hour. It’s perfect for both mental and physical balance, we’re literally born to run (and walk), not to sit around all day, and you can get out in the nature and be free of all the everyday stress. And it’s amazing to see what your body can do. Most people who run do it because they enjoy it, others quickly stop. It’s a great, healthy habit that’s a lot of fun to me.
@@Diana-qp2rw Agreed! Most other runners that I know do it because they enjoy it and/or they are training for something. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying exercise, having goals, ambitions, etc. There are lots of exercises that I don’t enjoy but I don’t look down on people that do them.
I'm a french chef. This is a recipe from "Bretagne". There's a few errors here in the application. First, this is not the right pan, you need a non-stick flat one. Also, your pan is nearly not hot enough, you need to reach almost smoking point basically. You need to use a ladle, not a spoon, and move the batter around when you pour it with a circular movement from your wrist. For the batter, this looks quite thick and dark. To make it lighter, let it rest for 30min, and add a bit of carbonated water. Give in a nice whisk to incorporate extra air into your batter before cooking it. I suggest also maybe watching traditional recipes videos, not from America ;)
I’ve really enjoyed this series so far. It has been a nice way to get new recipe inspiration. I’ve definitely incorporated the adding Greek yogurt into chia pudding hack from a prior video. Love it!
Good to mention that the article she's basing this video on is from 2012!!! 22 years old Taylor, and also very different times- things change. I had to check after the "binge food" mention, cause that's so 2010.
I don’t understand why you were so critical about the crepe. Buckwheat is an everyday staple in some cultures. Also, a lot of people prefer the taste of whole grains over bland white flours. I know you kind of had a fail, but you also categorized it into “diet culture” and acted like it was iffy. I make my mom buckwheat pancakes, and she thinks they taste fancy like she’s on a cruise lol.
Just stumbled upon your channel while looking for vids re: taylor's diet choices. Low & behold, up pops your video. I came for for Taylor but stayed because of your uncut wonderfully brutally honest approach. 🤩
The difference between weekdays and weekends meal for me is the morning after. I don't wanna wake up on a Thursday feeling heavy and slightly constipated or worse the opposite. Whereas I can afford to delay my bowel movements on a Sunday morning. It's really down to the next day morning aftermath for me 😂😂 it's not even about calories or money because I mostly cook at home even if it's a cheat meal kinda food cause I love cooking. Maybe Taylor has the bowel movement worry too 😅😅
Hey friends and fellow swifties - I know that title might sound like Abbey’s going to criticise Taylor, but it’s just clickbait (so more people can watch Abbey give some sensible advice about an important issue).
Hopefully folks know that it's okay to criticise people, yes? That it doesn't have to be judgmental or combative or disrespectful? Like, if Abbey had said "this doesn't seem healthy" I'd hope people wouldn't take that as an attack or a complete renunciation of her as an artist or person. Parasocial much?
another explanation for "weekend/weekday" food can also just be about how it makes you feel. I'm probably not going to have fish and chips for lunch on a day when I need to be productive, but I will if relaxing afterwards or even taking a leisurely walk is an option.
She's so me when I'm baking, subbing different fats and sugars, and basically making the recipe my own! And yes! Vanilla has never ruined a recipe. Words to live by! 🙌
Buckwheat is notoriously difficult to work with because it has no gluten, which means if you try to make crepes using ONLY buckwheat flour they just fall apart. You usually have to combine it with regular flour for it to be workable especially in fragile recipes like crepes. I do a 1:1 mix of buckwheat and wholewheat flour to get them to work! :)
As a swiftie, I'm offended on myself for only catching 12 song and not 13 :( But loved the settle ones like Red, Mean and Out of the woods 😭 Love your videos Abby .. thanks
Hey Abbey, love your videos! For the crepes i was telling you thru the screen "it's too much batter" haha next time try with less batter. It's actually pretty delicious😋😋
When making the crepes you need a low sided nonstick pan, instead of filling the pan you add only a ladle full and tilt the pan to spread the batter. The ham egg cheese buckwheat crepe is a specialty of Brittany france.
❤❤❤as someone who is struggling with disordered eating habits your empathy and first hand experience is so refreshing! Thank you so much for your content and I hope to watch more of your videos!
I’m wondering if she eats healthy during the week because of singing, cardio, practice for music videos etc. i know for some people, like myself, eating foods that are labeled “unhealthy” tend to make you feel tired, bloated, etc. so maybe she does this as a way to keep herself from feeling that way and the weekend is her relaxation time so she can eat what she wants without worrying about it. Love the video abbey. 😁
Wee tip that I do for measuring the dry ingredients, use the cup measure to scoop the flour, sugar etc. Out of the bag. I pop it in, scoop a heap of the flour and use the inside of the bag to like level off the flour 😊
Just found your videos and I've been bingeing--- your videos. Lol. Love your chats on disordered eating as someone who grew up in a diet centric home, this is so amazing. Also love to see your recipes! Thanks so much!!!
You're definitely right about restriction leading to binging and week long variety creating sustainability, this is my second day off work and i have a ton of sweet options and genuinely dont want any of them atm lol, but yesterday i genuinely did want them so i had a poptart, a few of the airhead xtreme bites, and part of a slurpee from 7 eleven and i had no desire to eat a ton of it, i had what i wanted and put away the rest and didnt feel physically sick and wasnt upset at myself for it
ughh I love ur channel so much, im on a food healing journey and your videos have been helping me change my mindset when it comes to food. I really appreciate the great content and realistic ways of eating.
I am one of those persons who tries to eat super "clean" on the week, and tries to have fun on the weekends. From my perspective, this has helped me be more organized with what I eat without feeling like I am restricting. Mostly because eating is an important part of socializing, and I like to meet up with friends and eat whatever (its not like a binge or anything crazy, but I will have a drink or two and maybe eat a hamburguer or sushi) and to be able to do this mantaing my weight and health, I eat more healthy on the week, but I never feel like its a sacrifice or anything. Just trying to keep it balanced.
I love your videos, and I enjoy listening to your series while i cook or make meals for myself. As someone who grew up in a very heavy diet culture household and suffers from eating disorders and body hatred. On my journey of self-love and a better relationship with food. I like having your videos in the background as a little "voice of reason" to help remind me how to incorporate different nutrients in my daily food.
Most of these sound really good! And I think if you adjusted the energy ball shaky thing it might work (imagine putting in freeze dried berries, adding some cacao in the mixture, maple syrup... Rolling them. Also really appreciate her transparency. But I need to mention that I love adding lime juice to my water! Not because of some sort of health trend, I just always preferred the taste of it.
I don’t think there is a problem with only having a treat on the weekend. I even talked to my kids about it and they would much prefer something to look forward to on the weekend and eat healthier during the week. For example every Friday night is pizza and sweet night they love it !! I offered to give them a little something every day and they would rather not and tbh I’m the same as I’d just end up having a sweet every night and it becomes normal and blah instead of something to look forward to and guess what we don’t over indulge just a slice of cake or chocolate bar etc at the weekend and we are satisfied. Don’t get me wrong kids do have a naked bar every day which has dry fruit and nuts no added sugar which is also one of their 5 a day. I make sure meals have plenty of protein which I believe keeps them more satisfied.
@@kates7277 what are with all these comments.. I hope you heal whatever is broken inside of you. Really I mean it, no sarcasm. It must be hard to live with that kind of pain that makes you lash out at someone else and instead of healing it leaning into toxic behaviors. Rooting for your healing!
I think she’s more saying for those of us who have had ED and it can cause old habits or even binges for by doing it. I think if you’re doing it bc it just feels right for you and makes you guys happy that’s totally different and fine:)
@@kates7277 So you're saying you're an adult taking the time to hate watch and hate comment on a channel about food? Seriously, get help. Because Abbey's message just isn't that extreme and isn't harmful. If you don't like her advice, there's absolutely no harm in walking away from it. You aren't making helpful critiques or counterpoints. You're just attacking her personally. No one needs that kind of negativity, including you.
That opening with Taylor, that is how I feel. Even after 7 years of therapy and healing, I still feel like that. Every. Single. Day. --- IDK if you can ever really heal from an ED based dysmorphia.
Oh my god, I am laughing so hard!! I am from Spain and I do exactly the oposite. When a recipe calls for butter I use sun flower oil or olive oil, because I usually don't have butter on hand, but I do have oil at all times. Plus, because here butter is no big thing, I don't like how it tastes in recipes. The cultural differences always amaze me. Kisses from Spain
I live in Italy and it's wild how villanized butter is here. My mother-in-law refuses to eat any recipe I make with butter, so I modify when possible. It's funny too because it's not like I bake more than once month. 😆
So, I'm currently following an OLD WW plan (one that's primarily based on calories) and as part of it, I like to eat most or all of my weekly allowance. Since my weeklies reset on Monday, this means I tend to eat a little extra on weekends because I have the leftover points. This also works out nicely because it means I have extra room in the budget for going out with friends or other last-minute things. However, I also have a function on Tuesday nights where desserts are ALWAYS served, and I will "indulge" there. The other thing is, MOST of the food I eat is meal food I cook in my weekly meal prep. Some weeks, however, I don't have all 21 meals prepped and ready to go for the week. Saturday and Sunday are the best days for me to cook something fresh outside of that meal prep, but it's also the weekend, so I'm just as likely to have a frozen pizza for dinner as I am Aldi Red Bag Chicken and Sweet Potato/Spinach Littles or a warm salad kit with shrimp. For me, it's more about the Monday-Friday routine and planning/prepping my food in advance. Sunday is the day I eat breakfast out and that's because it's become a bit of a self-care ritual to get a breakfast sandwich at Panera or Starbucks. My budget can't handle that every day though. I don't drink coffee because it doesn't like me, but I can see the benefit to drinking the full-fat latte Saturday-Sunday and the "Skinny" one Monday-Friday. On a weekday, I'm more likely to be up and going and doing all the things. I'm going to be drinking my latte while busy with other things, so I won't really enjoy is much anyway. I probably wouldn't notice what kind of milk was in it. So, I'd rather just get the lighter option and get the heavier, more indulgent version on a day when I have the time to sit down and really taste it.
The thing about WW is it keeps you obsessing about food all of the time. That and the public shaming and weigh-ins makes it a nutritionally and psychologically restrictive program. Not to mention the water guzzling. So annoying.
It seems obvious why people would choose to indulge on weekends. You’re more likely to go out to eat and it’s nice to not worry as much. It’s also easier to overeat when you’re sitting around the house all day I feel like or cook a huge dinner when you have more time. I’m sure this is a problem for some people but surely not for most people, right? I don’t do this myself and it seems a bit odd to eat different foods some days but I can understand why those days would be the weekend.
Monday is definitely the start of the week for me. I hate calendars which start the week on a Sunday. It's confusing especially when you're filling things in for my kid's school calendar.
Abbey can you please review MissFitAndNerdy?? She recently did a water fast and was touting all these health benefits (not weight loss) and I would love your take on it!
I love missfitandnerdy! She helped me with body recomposition and I feel amazing! She is a science nerd. That would be a fun review. And she loves to eat!
I really enjoy her channel too - I felt three days for her might have been a bit much - one probably just fine....anyway, I second this motion to review Miz FitnNerdy :)
Oh sweet. Wait until the crepe starts to curl at the edges. You can push on the edges slightly and move the batter into the space. This will help it cook more and pushing on the edges will help you see I'd they are cooking as that.part will pull away from the pan first. Do not turn it over until the whole crepe slips in the pan, it should slip enough that you can flip it in a throw. However, if you aren't confident you can slip a cooking tool under and flip. It shouldn't be hard to get it under. If it's sticking it most likely needs more cooking for it to be able to hold its shape. Butter on the pan is good to ensure it slips well. Hope this helps anyone. Cook on the other side until it too slips in the pan and it is done. The second side will take less time so don't burn Good luck ❤
You need a hotter pan for making the crepes. They're going too slow. You also need a short sided pan to make flipping easier. Edit: You also need a hotter pan for frying eggs.
To be fair, oil makes some cakes and loafs more moist, and switching up to butter makes them dry, for example in carrot cake and banana loaf I always stick to oil.
I do the weekend thing because I literally just work and tote my child around to extracurricular activities and work out during the week. The weekend is the only time when I can get together With my friends or want to have a drink.
😂 sooo relatable , crepes are so hard to make, I even have a special pan for it, also, you need to let the mix sit for a while which means I. An’t be spontaneous about it ! Love the content
If you're anywhere between Tuesday of the previous week and Sunday of the current week, the upcoming Monday is either "this Monday" or just "Monday." The following Monday is "next Monday." When the week starts is technically irrelevant; it's your proximity to the day in question that's determinative. But that was a humorous exchange anyway. 🙂
Isn't it just about routine? I mean, I don't enjoy having a more structured routine during the weekend, so it's the perfect time to eat whatever I feel like whenever, whereas during the weekdays my mind is more set to having a schedule and eating healthier fits more into it, as I can meal prep and stuff.
I also kinda have a weekend/week day dichotomy, but that’s more because of the fact that I have more time to cook in the weekends. So during soup season I love making soup on the weekends. On weekdays I eat food that’s easy to make
I just discovered you thru your YT SHORT about Gwyneth Paltrow's "eating" habits, black coffee and veggies for dinner, "to support her detox." That drew me in, but after watching two of your videos I have lots of questions and s favor, if you haven't already done it. I am a newly diagnosed type 1 diabetic, after 15 YEARS of being told I was a type 1 diabetic and given meds for a type 2 diabetic. I woke up in the hospital around this time last year from a DKA coma. When they brought me into the ER I WEIGHED 83 POUNDS. I was in the hospital for about a month. I had to learn to speak again, get my bladder working by itse,f, without help of a cath. Now I rarely pee more than 2 to3 times in a 24 hour period. What I would love to see would be your versions of meals you would eat, if you were a diabetic. Keep in mind I have to count carbs to figure out how much insulin to take. Please help! I have to get this figured out. I have only gained 10 pounds since the hospital last year. Thank you for all you do. ❤
Well to be honest I do have some "weekend treats" like getting an outside coffee instead of homemade not for the health benefitis but because it gives me a reward feeling for finishing all the work and because this way I don't just get bored of my favorite things and they remain a treat. Like for example if it is a PSL if you have it every single day you will start liking it less then having it as a special treat. And I would hate thinking of my current favorite ways of spoiling myself becoming boring and loosing their appeal
the buckweet crepe is actually french (Breton actually, from Brittany) we do that but we don't put it like a burrito lmao it stays flat and everything melts on the crêpe in the pan
I really do love your videos. I am 53 and really trying to be kind to myself and get out of those "rules" and the all or nothing mindset. Like I really can eat something sweet and not feel like it will be my last.
I can’t believe in all my years of watching RUclips I never discovered you! You’re a breath of fresh air and love your humorous content and the low thrills take on weight loss. Can’t wait to learn more and laugh from you!
As a French person I can tell this is def not how you make crepes 😂but nice try! Buckwheat doesn't have any gluten so it's hard to flip so I'd suggest adding an egg or leaving the batter rest in the fridge overnight 😊
For galettes ( french bw crepes) crepes leave the batter for 2 hours if you dont use eggs (just flour salt and milk or water), otherwise 30 min at least - for the lack of gluten . And dont use a food processor but a handwhisk - this really helps too. Be gentle and patient ;)
Abbey. I am with you. Week start in Monday, even the bible says so. As for weekend foods, for me it has more to do with more conplicated foods that I don't have time to make during the week, or because I am going out (which is almost never on a weeknight).
the weekend dinners and weekday dinners would have been swapped in my mind, lol. but that’s because i don’t have time to cook for myself during the week so having a chance to cook something tasty is a treat for me. i’m wondering if taylor’s “weekend dinners” have more to do with her assistant/chef/housekeeper/whoever she hires having weekends off and her not feeling like cooking those days :)
To be fair, I think all of the info we have on what she eats in a day just keeps getting republished from an old interview, back when she was still in her disordered eating stage, so who knows if she still really follows these "rules" of eating one way during the week and another way during the weekend
Remember that beans are high in carbs and protein, so are nuts, chick peas, green peas, corn, whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat wheat Chex, raisin bran, Honey Nut Cheerios, lentils and brown rice.
1.) If your Crêpes sticks to the pan, you need to use more fat. 2.) If the Crêpes doesn‘t stay intact when you try to lift the edges, then you haven’t added enough egg to the dough, and while adding an egg you probably should add some more flour. 3.) The trick is that the fat has to be reaaally hot when you add the dough, then you move the pan to move the dough in the pan. Then you wait until the Crêpes is not liquid anymore (it looks more ore less porous in the top, and then you first lift the edges all around the Crêpes and then slide under the Crêpes with the Spatula and flip it over. 😅 That’s the complete magic about it. And if the flour you are using doesn’t have enough gluten, you can make up for that with using more eggs.
I play dungeons and dragons with my adult kids. This pumpkin bread is what we call chaos cooking. When they come home they ask for my specialty: Chicken What the Hell( grilled or sautéed chicken with whatever sauce I can throw together with whatever is on hand- grilled or caramelized onion and mushrooms with who knows what). Learn the basic methods of cooking ( not rules) and go to town looking to mostly balance a huge variety of healthier choices . All the colors, textures, temperature & flavors. Play in your food when you can. Have completely ready things on hand for when you need a meal or snack asap. I am an old ballerina- I did have food issues in my teens, married a man who lives for junk or Atkinson, no balance. Now that I am on my own I treat food like my artwork- what tastes best, what works best to keep me going, what makes me happy. For me that means variety. Sdifferent beans each week. A few staple vegetables plus something I haven’t had in a while. Bulgur, pasta, potatoes, polenta, and rice rotation as seems easy. Thank you for being You Abbey
I love how unedited the cooking portions of her videos are. It's comforting, funny, and relatable.
Lol. “Vanilla’s never ruined anything” thinking of the time my roommate made Mac ‘n Cheese with Vanilla Almond Milk 🤢🤣
Oh no! That sounds horrifying!
I made mash potatoes with vanilla almond milk once 🙃
Hahaha I’ve done this before too 😂🤣
You have to have the white cheddar cheese Mac & Cheese to use the vanilla almost milk.
i did that a few times years ago, it sounds worse than it actually is. it tastes normal lol
Such a good point! Time can definitely be challenging
This talks to me when I see the crepes, precisely. We do crepes every Sunday morning. It takes 2 hours to get ready for the 5 of us!

I think a lot of why she had empathy for eating behaviors is because she had an eating disorder
YES
she doesn’t let food control her life
I loved the moment “you can make your own pesto, but…. Mama doesn’t have time”
For the crepes you gotta use a flat pan and way less batter, you spread with moving the pan. You flip it when the batter is almost not wet anymore (happens really fast) crepes are usually very thin:)
Thanks for the tip!
@@AbbeysKitchen also hot pan first and atleast 1 egg in the batter
kinda also doesn't help that the crepe was gluten free!
My thoughts exactly.
Yeah pan needs to be hot so it seals the bottom side

Its so hard! Im but Im praying 🙏🏼 I can go all in again! ❤ good for you!!!!!! I pray 🙏🏼 your still doing well!🥰😇👍🏼
Keeping a good thought for you. Very relatable 🙏
SIGH. thank you for covering this Abbey, and as always with gentle analysis and approach.
i felt so bad watching you trying to make her breakfast! the food she was describing is actually a “galette” as its buckwheat flour and water. the batter should rest for several hours or even overnight before cooking
and usually the pan is brushed w butter and cooked over a low heat, as high heat causes it to break
cheese eggs and hame are add into the middle after being flipped and then the edges of the galette are folded over to make it a square shape and leaves the middle exposed so you see the food in the middle….yes very painstaking😂
I know I was dying 😂😂
ruclips.net/video/xXFD2YRSI48/видео.htmlsi=Kfxo_rFwuIewHO1E
Now I understand! And now I am craving a galette.
It was so painful to watch ^^
wow I never even heard of a gazette before
So you ate like Swift but Taylored to you?
MIC DROP
That's sort of the point of these videos, inspired but w changes for different reasons depending on what abbey wants to focus on (certain wellness culture issues, making sure it's enough, etc)
@@actgirl1234567 I think you missed the point of this comment. They’re making a joke by using her name as a pun
@@mollie.28.15 ☺ aha I see it
It’s kind of just bullshit.
Buckwheat crepes are also known as Galettes and are very often served with cheese and ham for lunch/dinner in France. A delicious quick lunch!

In Belgium, baked with thin-sliced bacon and served with Apple butter 🤤.

Thanks for sharing this! Intention is always key and balance looks different for everyone❤
Wow this is me. Do we live the same life?
I really liked this video, I struggled before with an eating disorder, and I feel Taylor.. recently I became more aware of my body and how I eat .. and guess what? I have never been healthier before; I have more energy, and even my workouts have been way better. I feel lately I eat more, and my body is in a shape where I want it to be .. god bless you, Abbey on how you educate us to be on the right journey
Ah so good to hear! I have a similar journey....
This is me. I run when I am stressed, anxious etc.
@@smeek794 Do whatever makes you happy. Some runners are more curvy, I definitely was when I used to run.
The buckwheat crepes are MUCH easier if you let the batter sit overnight first! Also, use a 1:1 ratio of buckwheat to regular flour :)
You can use only buckwheat, we make galettes that way which honestly sounds like what Abbey is making with the savoury toppings.
Just discovered your channel and what a delight! Look forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you for being entertaining while educating us!
i love it so much how much you want people to have their own healthy relationship with food. You really inspire me
I’ve really enjoyed this series so far. It has been a nice way to get new recipe inspiration. I’ve definitely incorporated the adding Greek yogurt into chia pudding hack from a prior video. Love it!
Thank you so much for your "I am worthy" statements at the end - I needed to hear that. Love the authenticity of these videos!!! Keep it up 💗
Good to mention that the article she's basing this video on is from 2012!!! 22 years old Taylor, and also very different times- things change. I had to check after the "binge food" mention, cause that's so 2010.
In Sweden the week starts Monday. And all weeks are numbered so if is common to her things like ”My summer vacation is week 27 to 30.”
I'm doing a Health Psychology MSc at the moment and I got so excited when you referenced a study I read! 😂💃💃
So exciting!
Yessss, Taylor deserved a 40 min vid :D.
Are you ready for it?!❤
I don’t understand why you were so critical about the crepe.
“I’m having this right before bed”
She says as the windows shows it’s bright as noon outside
Summer, Canadian latitude. Could be sunny and late.
All her titles are clickbait and not actually what happens in the videos.
Would your life come to a tragic end
Also because of her lyrics “I’m the problem it’s me”
@@Msmithrdn Always.
Please reveal the lip color your wearing. This shade is on point. Brand and color. Thanks! As always, on nutrition.... Amen Abbey! Preach!
another explanation for "weekend/weekday" food can also just be about how it makes you feel.
Love vanilla
@@AbbeysKitchenthree words... Mac and cheese.
As a swiftie, I'm offended on myself for only catching 12 song and not 13 :(
But loved the settle ones like Red, Mean and Out of the woods 😭
Love your videos Abby .. thanks
I love your energy Abbey! You're just so genuine and silly. I love it! I kept smiling throughout this vid! 😊
I think it's very common to eat different food for weekdays and weekends.
On weekdays, there's barely any time to cook elaborate meals
"no one wants the end of the loaf".... Huh??? HUH??? ME!!! I want the end of the loaf!!!! 😂🤗 Really loved this video - thanks!!
Same. It is my favourite part. But I am the only one in my household that likes it xD
yep, same for cheese rinds.
That’s less accurate though because the flour gets packed into the cup
In Europe we use a scale. Bonus is that 1- you’re accurate and 2- you skip the messes of needing to mess the dry+wet measuring cups
I hear what you did there Abbey! Loved all the song references! That sandwich looked amazing!!
Buckwheat crepe with ham and cheese is one of my favorite breakfasts! Here is a fail-proof recipe 1+3+3. 1 egg + 3 tbsp buckwheat flour + 3 tbsp milk.
First time watching one of these videos and I absolutely love this content. So Different and I’m all here for it!

Oh my god, I am laughing so hard!! I am from Spain and I do exactly the oposite. When a recipe calls for butter I use sun flower oil or olive oil, because I usually don't have butter on hand, but I do have oil at all times. Aw thanks🥰🥰
The breakfast she has is actually a french dish from the west part of france (brittany/bretagne) it's called a "galette complète" .
Abbey’s chaotic baking is hilarious, more of that, please!
Lol, haven't watch all the video yet, looking forward to not feeling alone in my own baking misadventures
Monday is definitely the start of the week for me. I hate calendars which start the week on a Sunday. It's confusing especially when you're filling things in for my kid's school calendar.

The second side will take less time so don't burn
Good luck ❤
You need a hotter pan for making the crepes. They're going too slow. You also need a short sided pan to make flipping easier.
Edit: You also need a hotter pan for frying eggs.
Your pan/the butter needs to be piping hot before you add the batter!! That will make it not stick, and also crisp up. :)
you singing "look what you made me do" completely off key is the most endearing thing ever
To be fair, oil makes some cakes and loafs more moist, and switching up to butter makes them dry, for example in carrot cake and banana loaf I always stick to oil.
I just started following you recently and I love your content! You are so funny and real❤
The second "there you go" at 18:35 was such a Bob Ross moment 😂😂😂 I love it ❤
Isn't it just about routine? I mean, I don't enjoy having a more structured routine during the weekend, so it's the perfect time to eat whatever I feel like whenever, whereas during the weekdays my mind is more set to having a schedule and eating healthier fits more into it, as I can meal prep and stuff.
I absolutely love your healthy thinking about food. I wish more people would see this, so I'm sharing.
Seriously, baking turns out better if you actually measure things correctly.
Loving the metal music during the mixing of the pumpkin loaf!
Well she’s definitely not making the crepes herself every morning so you’re doing a great job 😂
I love the drums, the one guitar lick and the final drum. girl you missed your calling!
I could watch you angry-cook all day! 🤣
That’s the complete magic about it.
And if the flour you are using doesn’t have enough gluten, you can make up for that with using more eggs.
not me screaming at the screen for u to turn up the heat while you were making crepes 😭
Abbey’s Chaotic Kitchen is the most relatable show I’ve ever watched 😂❤
