My wife had a 2007 H3 alpha and she drove it from 2009 to 2022. Never had any mechanical problems. It had 25 thousand miles when She got it and sold it with 158 thousand miles. It cost $23,000 in 2009 and sold for $6,000 in 2022. She absolutely loved her H3. Often men would tell, “Love your truck, mam!” She and my son were caught a heavy snow storm in northern Kentucky and her hummer and the National guard vehicles were the only ones moving.
@@WatchJRGo and if you go to the local GM dealer and ask for the dealer history report, it will tell you EVERYTHING that was ever done to that H3 at any GM dealer in the country.
@@WatchJRGo There is no "main wiring harness" recall for the Hummer H3. There are two recalls for the H3: 1) is for a resistor under the glove box that is part of the AC blower motor control. This has overheated and caught fire in the past. Mine actually burnt out and I had it replaced before they even recalled them. 2) replace the fake plastic louver on the hood as it has a tendency to blow off in high winds (such as driving fast on the freeway. Call your local GM dealer. They'll get your VIN number and they will be able to tell you of the recall work has been done on your Hummer.
I found this out the hard way…. I have an 2007 h3 that was bought brand new but mostly house in Florida and almost never driven. Then the truck was brought over to Texas to be a daily driver. Worked fine up until we had our famous 2021 ice storm which ended up flash freezing my already brittle harness cause the vehicle to short out. I then spent the next 3 months trying to find out the problem was through various auto shops telling me it was the throttle body needing replacement to spent nearly $3000 on replace and see fixes until I finally took it to a GM dealer ship, waited 2 weeks for them just to look at it and then to told me that for sure it was a shorted out engine wire harness. I thought great let’s change it out. Come to find out the GM has discontinued that specific wire harness a while ago. So I was out of looking until I found some other GM parts dealers and I thought I finally found the piece that I was looking for only for it to be the European version of the wire harness meant for right hand drive H3’s. I was devastated and ready to send the truck to scrap yard even though it only had 88k miles. Until finally thru some back door brokering and extensive internet part searching I got a replacement harness that fit that was not OEM but I had not choice at this point. I couldn’t find any at a junk yard either. So long story short. I change out the harness and bam truck works like brand new again. Check your wire harness lol.
The H3 did not bankrupt Hummer. The H3 was designed by GM and produced from 2005-2010, it was NEVER built by Hummer (A M General) as were the H1 and H2. In fact, the H3 was built at the same GM plant in Louisiana as the Canyon and Colorado. GM itself was going bankrupt in 2009 and, as you noted, tried to sell off Hummer to the Chinese for $150 million as part of GM's bankruptcy plans, but the sale fell through. GM then simply decided to discontinue the nameplate much as it did with Oldsmobile in 2004 and both Pontiac and Saturn in 2009. Divesting itself of Hummer, Pontiac and Saturn was necessary for GM to secure the loans it needed from Congress to stay in business. To say that the H3 bankrupted Hummer or GM is factually inaccurate.
Facts though you failed to mention key points that I would like to bring up. During the recession and bailouts is when the Hummer was discontinued. Many misconstrued it as Hummer going bankrupt but it was actually because the administration at the time was big on “economical impacts” and what’s the first thing people “think is real” with the Hummer? The costs to produce and sell these vehicles were high too, but not anymore than a Wrangler and they compared equally in MPG. In short, the company discontinued because they didn’t “need” it and was the stipulation they needed to meet in order to receive their bailout.
The H3 Bankrupted Hummer is by that logic is 100% accurate. The H3 was the worst selling of the three Hs and when times got hard they shuttered the doors. Bankrupt GM? Nah that would be GMs gross mismanagement on the grander aspect of their umbrella, but to say it didn't Bankrupt Hummer is wearing rose tented glasses. The H3 was a horrible misstep in branding of a product. And Hummer being a product of the American Market American's have never liked a newer thing having the bigger number but worst states when compared to prior versions. people tolerated the H2 only cause it was still the same size as the H1s and when the H3 dropped all faith in the brand died. The orders from dealers was small cause no one who wanted a hummer wanted an H3, when they killed Pontiac, Saturn and Hummer it was cause Pontiac was to costly, Saturn was trash, and Hummer was failing. So yes The H3 Bankrupt Hummer in a Chapter 7 level of capacity, that's 100% Factually Accurate, you could even say it Bankrupt GM cause they did have the paperwork ready to file for Chapter 11 if the bailout didn't go through and they still were going to close the three brands for the same reason. only thing is Buick may have joined them if they had fully filed for Chapter 11 and didn't get bailed out.
My Hummer H3 experience started with a 2006 and when GM did their restructuring and stopped building the Hummer I sold my 2006 and bought a 2009 and still have it today and I am completely in love with it. Handles great, very comfortable, great in the snow and very quiet inside!! I get about 20 mpg on highway and 18mpg city. It has 85K on it and I am not ever getting rid of it!! I have no trouble seeing out of it you just need to get use to the short windows but that is no problem for me. My windows are all very dark and no one can see in it but when inside looking out it is like the Hummer is wearing sunglasses. All in all I am completely happy with my Hummer H3 and would not trade it for anything else on the road today!!🐺🐺
@pmscalisi the first 3.5l 5cyls had head problems the 3.7l were pretty good but the timing chain is a beast of a job so make sure you change the oil regularly
Well I'm only 5"9" and let's say a 2020 silverado is just wayy to big for me. A 98 chevy c1500 is litterly my size my hight and I don't feel like driving a mini semi.
I have a 2008 base H3 3.7 with 260k on it all original. Sent the ECM away to get reprogrammed. Surprising what the 3.7 can do. Also installed a reprogrammed transmission module. Well worth the $245 I spent getting both the ECM and TCM reprogrammed. Drives like a different truck now. No problem keeping up with traffic. I can run with the big dogs now.
I’m still driving my 2006 H3 3.5. It has 314,548 miles on it today. No codes, no issues very dependable ride still. Only ever had to replace CV joint, rear drive shaft CV, exhaust manifold, blender door actuator, and tires. No matter what anyone says I know these things were built to last if properly maintained.
@@MotorMenaceFPV you are exactly right, best vehicle I have ever had and I have had two of them. A 2006 and now a 2010 that I bought new and now has 85K on it. I absolutely love the Hummer H3, owner for life!!
I'm on my second H3. They're ready to hate until you own one. Then the more you drive it, the more it grows on you until you can't imagine driving anything else.
I never new anything about the Hummer until a friend got a 2007 H3. He sold it to me because he needed a truck for work. I bought it and have been driving it for 8 years, I really like the vehicle everything is first class I want to keep driving it for the rest of my life. I am an old man though.
I bought my 2009 h3 base 5 speed manual brand new in 2009 for 23,000! still have it today! it has 180k on it now ! It is the best, hands down , most trouble-free vehicle I have ever owned!!!!!!!!
I had a 2007 H3 for my wife. She loved the H3 and she drove it from new with 10 miles on it until 127,000 and two transmissions. We drove it everywhere with my family long trips great times. Never let us down. The transmission when it starts to go it goes fast and the first shop did a crap rebuild but the second place got it done right. Still miss the thing.
My wife daily drives a 2006 H3 with the adventure package. It's been fairly trouble free. I'll be watching this series close. Our only issue right now is the windshield wipers died. New clockspring/wiper switch, fuses, relays, diode, tried a new motor. Nothing. It's a PITA on rainy days.
My 2008 H3 was the first (and only) new car I've ever bought. A Christmas gift for my wife. We had a great time with it... did some visual mods to make it look cool and it was a good car. Eventually traded it for a Yukon Denali because we kept having babies. Maybe because Wifey like the Hummer so mu.... oh. I see what I just did there.
I have one of these The Alpha edition with the 5.3 v8 and it's been a solid winter driver, things to watch out the bad sunroof drains which causes the interior to be wet and causes the yaw sensor under the driver seat to go bad constantly its not too hard to clear the drain and make the hole in the firewall bigger.
Those Hummer H3’s can last basically forever if you are religious on maintenance. I used to have a 2006 H3 (3.5L I5) that I sold with 305,000 miles on it and still was running like the day it just rolled off the assembly line with only a couple minor problems. I know people love their V8’s, but be fair. The I5’s are great engines and can haul a** if you want it too. I regularly got 19-20MPG out of it which is pretty good considering it’s a Full-Time 4x4 vehicle, and terrible aerodynamics. Easily the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.
How about your H3 3.7l but that engine has an oil consumption issue from the factory that’s allowable. Meaning you have to check the oil every two weeks and top it off in between oil changes.
Bought my H3T new in 2009. Has 97,000 miles on it and has done everything I've asked of it: off roading in Moab [has the Adventure Package with locking diff's], pulled a trailer from Boston to Chicago loaded with a WWII truck [I know w-a-y exceeded towing capacity], and is still a daily driver. Regular maintenance, no electrical or major component failures other than a drag link replacement. MPG 16 in the summer and 14 in the winter. Drives and rides great, everything on it works as required and looks good with the after-market wheels and two tone wrap on the exterior. Wife wants me to buy a new replacement, but I can't think of a new truck alternative for less than $50,000 that can perform like my H3T.
Have a 2006 Luxury H3. Have owned it since 2009. Almost 186k on it. Nothing major, routine maintenance items. Goes like a beast in snow and just feels like a safe vehicle to drive. Good luck with yours!
I've had my H3 for 2 years now and I love it. The low windscreen and side windows is one of the features I like the most. I like the feeling of privacy I get when driving knowing that it is difficult for anyone to see inside. I've never had a problem with any restricted vision whilst driving, I can see out of the vehicle just fine. The 3.7 is under powered but I have plans for an LS3 swap, 2 inch shackles in the rear, front suspension cranked up with a front diff drop and a 30mm body lift and 37 inch muddies.
I have a H2 and I have no problem with windows either! The only thing I HATE!!..THE WINDSHIELD IS STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN and snow cakes up really fast and the window shield wipers and full of ice! I won't drive it in the snow anymore..it stays in the garage.
Not the same bolt pattern on the transmission, the 4.2, 3.7, and the 4cyl version, have different bell housings, and they also used a different torque converter. For the cooling fan, tune it out, and get a cooling fan clutch from a 2008-2009 Trailblazer/Envoy. They went back to the old, reliable, fan clutch.
The H3 doesn’t have an LS. . It’s an LH8 which is similar to the LS but with various improvements like a 6 bolt main and aluminum heads, etc. it was ONLY offered in the H3 and Colorado Z71 V8.
Hey, I have a 2017 Nissan Versa and it's a good little car. Sure it isn't fast and it's a very basic car but it gets excellent fuel economy and it was only 8500 dollars. It's been super reliable for over two years now. I got the five speed because the CVT's are known for tanking. I put a decent head unit in and a sub and it sounds great. I only have two issues with it, first there is no water temp gauge, there is a high temp warning light though. Second, It could use a 6th gear because the revs are like 3500 at 60 mph. I really don't go on the highway much though. I guess to each their own, I like my Versa.
Love my 08 H3, I was the second to owner at 88k miles in 2022. As I expected so many of the seals were leaking fluid. After $6,000 in repairs, all leaks are fixed. The rest of the vehicle is in very good condition. Of course I performed a full tuneup, drained and replaced all fluids and had my local Chevy dealership perform some diagnostics on the engine cylinders to rule out any bad piston rings.
I live in rural Nebraska on a gravel/dirt road. I've had a 07 and now a 10 H3 and they have never let me down through the Nebraska Summers and snow covered winters! This is mainly my work vehicle, but I drive it multi-state and feel very comfortable off-roading in the vast fields here. Of course, you do have to keep up with the maintenance but for the money, you can't beat it. I just had mine detailed and it looks brand new! With all of the dust in the back of yours, you probably should replace the rear exhaust vent located behind the spare tire. The louvers were rotted out of mine and allowed dust in. Also keeping the door seals clean and conditioned with rubber conditioner keeps the inside quiet and dust free. I think you got a great but! Good luck with the project.
@@WatchJRGo Bummer. Those would really help on some of the stuff that you've been working. Love your work ethic and the constant effort to put out quality videos!
I bought a 2008 H3 Alpha a few months ago for a winter driver. Has 278,000 miles so obviously not mint condition, and the dealer did nothing to clean it out.. previous owner must have driven on a lot of gravel roads. Had a few issues mostly minor. Replaced headlight and fog light bulbs, some of the door post switches didn't work. No fluid leaks, but had to replace a sensor underneath the truck which cost 900 plus. And the yaw sensor which you can get on Amazon gor 30 bucks. The sensor location sucks though. Sucks down gas but plows through the snow without even trying.
Lol...yes the sunroof leaks and the roof marker lites also! I own a 2008 H2 luxury and never had that problem..but everyone I know with a H2 all have the same problem.
I bought one new in 2006. It has the Adventurer package. I still have it and have never had any problems with it until now. It has a small radiator leak. I will be replacing it. I also have a 2009 Alpha H3 with the 5.3 in it. It pulls my boat better than the other. Both have been very good low maintenance vehicles.
I rode in one of the originals in the Army, and I rode in one similar to yours. Frankly I was shocked how cramped the interior felt. I'm 5'10" and my knees were jammed into the dash. Seemed to lack power as well. Good Luck with yours.
I sold a 2004 1500 burb 5.3L last January 2022, 133000 mi, in great shape for $6000 in SC. Towed travel trailer all of the 18 yrs off and on,I owned from new. Paid $30k with rebates in 04. Great service but got tired towing my always overloaded trailer rig. Replaced it January 2022 with a 2021 F150 Powerboost Hybrid. My new sports car pickup truck.
This brought back memories. I learned to drive in my dad’s H3 and took my drivers test in one. He has owned 2 of them and the last one was traded in for a Jeep wrangler after AC Delco paid for a transmission because their new radiator was faulty causing coolant to mix into the transmission lines.
Purchased a 2007 H3 with 20K miles some years ago, for my wife. It now has 96K miles on it. No issues, one of the best and most reliable cars we ever had. It is still completely stock, I plan to paint it, update the wheels, and keep and use it for another 100K miles :)
I just picked up an 07 H3... traded an old 63 Olds for it that was a paperweight.... mine has 385,000 miles... runs great, tight as can be. the only thing i gotta fix is the sun roof leak and a broken antenna.
I had a H3 back in 2006. I got a super cheap lease as gas was $5 p/ gallon (GM was nearly giving them away). Gas prices returned to normal and I drove it daily for 3 years. It was a fun SUV for the day.
I bought a 2008 H2 in January 2015 and had no idea it runs on Premium Gas! Gas was $5.00 gal. In 2015! I still have it and I am now paying$ 4.80 gal ! Feels like old times !
My mom had an 06 in light blue, with leather and a sunroof... We still to this day are kicking ourselves for turning it in when the lease ended. It did amazing off road, and the factory sound system sounded fantastic.
Im a GM guy, but debated actually getting one because of their age and older tech vs a dime a dozen Jeep Wrangler. Ended up buying a low mile 07 with a luxury package, aftermarket bullbar, lightbar and 35" tires. Leather, moonroof, power everything with factory subwoofer. It addresses everything he complained about in the video. Spent alot more on it though obviously.
Absolutely great buy on that h3 it will hold its value in the future! I would daily it for sure , also stepson has Colorado with 3.7 an like 240k runs like a sewing machine ! It’s a keeper
Great presentation. We bought 06 in 8/23, put it down to address transmission leakage, who would've thought right. While there and not in a hurry had them addess all drive train issue, all inclusive. Transmission rebuild, front cvs, all axles and bearings, front to rear, differential. Brakes all around, new master cylinder (was leaking, tiny oring can'locate anywhere, ABS....., valve cover gasket, exhaust manifold, some serious research on solving a botched job of drilling new holes (Jetlube), yes manifold and block. what a block head, hahaha. I love this truck!!! dropped >$10k in trade for IT services I provided.
Hummers were always my dream vehicle and I finally bought one in 2020. Although I still got it, I recently purchased a 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser that I'm absolutely in love with and will wanna keep forever. I still love my Hummer but dreams change. Anyhow, my H3 has heated leather seats. Also, the good thing about Hummer H3's are they are easy to work on like you wouldn't believe compared to other vehicles.
I love mine…After having the motor blow a month after being bought (used),&waiting 6 months for Jasper to rebuild mine, the only thing that has went bad was the # 3 coil! I change oil every 3,000 miles and it gets as good of mileage as my old 97 Blaser! It had a V6.
Don't forget the Dodge Nitro. Was my first new vehicle in 2007. Cost me $30k CAD new and it also had a 3.7L V6 with similar hp and size. It also had a small ass window lol. It was an okay vehicle for the 6 years I had it. Only needed a $40 sensor near the fuel tank in all that time. Never broke down, or got stuck in our Alberta winters. However at the 6 year mark the interior was falling apart. Trim rubbing and shaking and rattling. They made them cheap AF
@@christinesommerfeld9815 I see the odd one but yes your right. Id assume its because the build quality was so poor lol. It never broke down on me but it was starting to come apart in the interior lol
4l60e mine was have Same issue again and again and we got the issue fixed first we changed the fan clutch and added transmission cooler...now it's perfectly fine no overheating transmission..
I bought a 2008 H2 Hummer in 2015. I now have 152,000 miles on it and I love it! Except I won't drive it in Snow or the rain...it's so front heavy it tends to not stop but slide to a stop. Luckily i have a garage and I take it out in nice weather. I daily drive is a Ford Expedition.(.my 3rd) I will say..I do love driving my H2 I like being high up and I have no problem with windows being so small. I don't like the front window being straight up and down..and the wipers being so small that when it snows. They tend to ice up really bad and the snow has no place to slide up to the roof and over or to the left or right side .it just cakes up on the wipers. I have no engine problems..no rust..no scratches or dents. Leather interior is mint. The only thing I did not know untill after my purchase was...IT Needs PREMIUM GAS ONLY! Who knew!! in 2008 and 2009 the H2 put a 6.2 L engine in and changes the gas quality to Premium. I don't complain on gas mileage because I get great mileage 14- 16 mpg around town and more on the highway!!
I remember when the hummer 3 came out. There was so much hype like this was some huge departure from the H2 which everyone thought was big plastic garbage. Turns out it was just smaller then the H2.
I own a 2009 with the I5. We had to replace every suspension component and new throttle body. Even though it’s been a pain I love it. Hummers are good vehicles if you get a good one and are willing to spend money on it.
Point of correction JR - the H1 has not "plastic handles" on the hood. Those things sticking out of the hood on the H1's are the airlift hooks so we H1 owners can airdrop our trucks when we feel like arriving in style.
When these things were relatively new, I had to change out cv axles in one. Autozone wanted $480 per axle then. I asked instead for the same year axle from a Colorado and it was $80 and they were the same. Those were funny times.
I have a squeaky front suspension, garage said all bushings are fine. I have used WD40 specialist silicone spray and I goes away for a few day then comes back is there any better lubricants spray I could use ?
It's honestly not bad for the price. It has way less wrong with it than say buying an older land rover for cheap. Those can be a nightmare with things failing with age even if you barely use it. I have one that the whole drive train is really good and no rust, But you are guaranteed to have to do head gaskets at some point. But all the window regulators, door locks and latches, sun roof, and some of the switches all fail at some point. You can learn almost everything about a vehicle just by owning and trying to operate a land rover lol. It's so fun to drive though and has the best visibility out of it than any vehicle I have driven, It's hard to get rid of them.
I have an 07 H3 with both the luxury package and adventure package. It has leather seats, sunroof, monsoon audio, locking rear diff, and 4:1 transfer case. Yes the 3.7 is slow but it's fun to drive and good off-road. Parts are cheap because it's just a Chevy Colorado underneath.
I bought 2007 H3 in 2015. Horrible vehicle. Leaked from the sunroof, the drain tube clogged all the time. Major electrical issues. I had it towed probably once a month the final year I owned it. 2020.
When they shut down the Austin tx hummer dealership, 2 of the last trucks to sell were H3T 5 cyl. Manual trans models. They were in the paper for $28k. Probably sold for less. And fun fact- all the coolest Colorado guys have those bucket seats. Bolt right in.
I own an 06 and plan to swap out the 5 cyl as soon as I use up all the factory 5 cyl has to offer…but she just keeps on crankin’! I’ll be looking for a healthy 5.3 to swap in…add another gearbox equipped to handle a supercharger and the nearly doubled torque…I think the wise thing to do is beef up everything “drive train” and expect to engineer/keep the weak-point at the driveshaft…(may even get lucky in finding an old Silverado and shorten the factory driveshaft)…using the rear and axles. I just purchased 18” 35’s for it…any ideas of what is best regarding front end (turning) clearance would be greatly appreciated! I’ll try to set up a channel and share my trials and tribulations! Thanks JR (et al)!
Oh man..... A friend of mine had two of those. One burned up because of the transmission. The other was a H3 alpha. Now that was pretty cool. Transmissions in those things have issues.
I tend to agree about the quality of the small hummer but should be a cool toy to work on and play with. Good luck with it and at least some of the parts should interchange with the Colorado.
I have a hummer got it with 3 miles on it. I love it. Have in my playlist. Do happy to see some ppl still like them. I feel you got a great deal. Hope to find the video after you fixed it up 👍
I've been shopping around for an h3. I have a 2012 Canyon. And after finding out the H3 is basically a Colorado/Canyon, I decided instead of pouring money into my 04 jeep liberty crd (diesel) I would just buy one of these. Good video. Thanks for your insight and all the info.
Absolutely an underrated vehicle I love these vehicles I grew up in an h3 and an h3t then ended up getting my own and I still love it other than the view, the power, and the transmission other then that it’s got great off-road capabilities you can put 35s on there stock if you going off-road you gonna want to put a small body lift kit plus it will make it look way better best one to get is the h3 alpha with the adventure package in 09-10 so you’d get both front and rear lockers lux package is nice to have so you have the heated and power seat plus the monsoon subwoofer in the back but personally I’m a fan of cloth and the lux package has leather seats. The turn radius on it is great I think what I like most about it is that it’s just such a really fun vehicle to drive and it’s cheap so you don’t worry to much about getting a scratch on it and the ride feels better than a Jeep Wrangler but the solid front axle does help sometimes off-road rock crawling but for me it’s got a spot in my heart cause I’ve been in the back seat of these for 13 years and in the driver seat for 4 years
I have a similar story, may parents bought one new in 06 I fell in love and told myself I’d get myself one one day. Thankfully I was able to get my 08 Alpha and love it
Ouch! I like my versa. Sure it is slow and the CVT is pure crap which is why I have the 5spd. I searched for months to find a used car that provided everything I wanted. I wanted manual transmission, windows, door locks, and good fuel mileage. My car key has no electronics in it so replacements/spares are dirt cheap. Also the interior space is massive for a subcompact. All that said I believe the versa is probably one of the worst cars made if you get the CVT. Now the H3. Look at that gas cap they pulled right off the Aztek. They used so many cheap shared parts for an overpriced underpowered hype mobile.
I remember the craziest thing is that during the "cash for clunkers" was that this version of the H3 qualified for the huge rebate of $4500 since it was considered an "efficient car" . I seriously considered it, but as most remember, Cash-For-Clunkers was a massive flop. Dealers would inflate the price of new cars by about $4000.... then pocket the difference as profit.
Why doesn't this surprise me that dealers figured out a way to use the Cash-for-Clunkers program to line their pockets and stick it to the people it was intended to help?
I wouldn't drive one because I think it's ridiculous, but I'm looking forward to your flip. Shocking, to me, that someome ACTUALLY took it off road. In LA they'd only go off-road if the driver ran off the road while texting.
I have an H2 and I don't think that or the H3 get the credit they deserve. They are really comfortable to drive and reliable and capable offroad. The stigma around them have more to do with the people that drive them. Not the trucks themselves
@@karlferdinand188 it’s pretty fitting that the 2 that drive around my town are owned by a rich dude whose wife and daughter drive it and the other one is driven by a strait douche. So yeah the people really do more for the stigma than the truck, it’s just ugly
@@zackatron925 It's not a truck for everyone and that's ok if you don't like them. Great offroad but there's a stigma around them driving around Beverly Hills by wealthy celebrities

We have had 5 Hummers 2 H2’s and 3 H3’s and to be honest they were all pretty good and I’m a Ford guy but will buy anything to make money on I would have quite a few vehicles at anytime time my oldest and youngest son who I’m pick it out to drive Over Suoerduty’s Camaros ,BMWs and Mercedes So in my humble opinion they are pretty

1) is for a resistor under the glove box that is part of the AC blower motor control.
How come the Chinese keep buying our companies?
Yes sir you tell um and that's the truth too
Отличный, сбалансированный и надёжный автомобиль ставший жертвой алчных идиотов.
My dad's 2010 Canyon has that same 3.7 I5. It currently has 252k miles on it, it's never had any real issues. Solid engine, sounds cool too
Yes I love those I5. They’re hands down better than any 4cyl they make and it sounds way cooler than the new V6 in the Colorado
Same platform entirely
Figures GM would quit making the engine because it’s reliable. It’s not the first time they’ve done it.
@@pmscalisi I have a 2018 Colorado with the 3.6 V6. It has 68k miles and so far its been good. But we'll see how it's doing in a few more years
@pmscalisi the first 3.5l 5cyls had head problems the 3.7l were pretty good but the timing chain is a beast of a job so make sure you change the oil regularly
I blame it on that one short guy who casually said “make it smaller” when talking to the designers….😁….helper dog is great by the way👍
Well I'm only 5"9" and let's say a 2020 silverado is just wayy to big for me. A 98 chevy c1500 is litterly my size my hight and I don't feel like driving a mini semi.
@@jeffrrey6791 Sounds like the Colorado would be perfect for you
I've had my H3 for ten years, I love it!
Honestly I'm still surprised you don't show up to buy these vehicles with new hood struts already in hand...
I need to, it would make check them out much easier! 😂
Actually he buys the hood struts in advance and then finds the vehicle they fit.
Or a pair of vise grips for the ol holder upper trick
@@mikemartin2423 not needed, hood struts are the easiest diy there is. Consider them a wear item.
It wouldn't be a watchJRgo car purchase without blown hood or hatch struts.
My wife had one, it had the same problem. It was leaking. But we loved that thing! She ran over 3 javelina”s and nothing was damage!
Where did you send them for reprogramming?
You miss going through 2 transmissions in 127,000 miles? That's crazy man
@@kennehhh my Chrysler with the zf9 speed has lasted longer than that 💀💀💀💀

I don’t have the sunroof, I wish I did! 🫤
@@WatchJRGo You know you moved the seat base forwards sometimes they then flip up to make room for the back to lay flat.
This thing needs a 6.2 . Went off roading in one of these in the early 2000s. It was actually pretty good off road.
Yess I've had my 2006 hummer h3 since they were first made and 17 years of ownership runs like a dream, hope to keep it forever
The clutch fans aren't reliable on trailblazers.
@Bleachanna they are in 2008/09. They have a standard thermal fan clutch, where the other years have a thermal- electro-viscous.
Honestly, I like these. Especially with the 5.3. They look really good and they’re decent off road.
I was gonna say it has an LS right? Single turbo and lets goo
@adamlebednik1110 you haven't seen under the hood on an LS H3 ALPHA lol there's no room at all
These things drive like a bath tub full of cat shit
JR: nah, 'i think I won't buy this car', owner: 'the hood struts failed... ', JR: 'SOLD!'
Do you still have your quickjacks? I've not seen you use them since you started working in your garage again.
Yeah, but they're in storage 🍻
I bought one last year, I’ve only had minor issues with it so far. Sunroof leaks, which I found is a common issue with them and oil gasket leak.
Lol...yes the sunroof leaks and the roof marker lites also! I own a 2008 H2 luxury and never had that problem..but everyone I know with a H2 all have the same problem.
John Ross that pup 🐶 was just looking for a couple of pats and was very helpful
Working at a dealership I’ve drove a few of these, can’t say I’ve ever though they were anything special. all of them H1,H2 or H3
389k on one I just got for 2900
I had a H3 back in 2006.
He'll be flipping it after he fixes the problems.
Options that are not power is a huge positive, not a negative.
One of the best SUVs of all time
You would think GM would've put the i6 from the Trailblazer from the start!
I had one and loved it 100k miles set of tires and brakes and oil changes. Was perfect.
I had an 08 with the rare 5-speed manual. I still find myself missing it every now and then but you are 100% correct on the limited visibility.
6:57 I was waiting for him to pet the doggo, but I was let down
Hummers were always my dream vehicle and I finally bought one in 2020.
Have you driven the latest versa? I agree on the previous versions but the newest ones are decent, especially for the price
Nah, only the 07 or something, I'm sure the new one is better (everything is) 🍻
Those dark tints really need to go. The light contrast between the windshield and windows is just not good for the eye in the long run.
I am loving this new project, I am looking forward to seeing you get her back in good condition again.
I never see any Nitros around anymore. They just disappeared.
@@christinesommerfeld9815 I see the odd one but yes your right. Id assume its because the build quality was so poor lol. It never broke down on me but it was starting to come apart in the interior lol
Convert it to electric fan. Saves Hp and it’s cheap. Man oh man I wish I could buy that off you when your done lol.
4l60e mine was have Same issue again and again and we got the issue fixed first we changed the fan clutch and added transmission cooler...now it's perfectly fine no overheating transmission..
The frame is BASED on the Colorado frame but extremely different!
My dad built these until the end in Shreveport, Louisiana. GM shuttered the plan in bankruptcy. I’ve always loved the H3, and the H3T.
An Alpha with a manual swap would be bad ass.
I remember when the hummer 3 came out. There was so much hype like this was some huge departure from the H2 which everyone thought was big plastic garbage. Turns out it was just smaller then the H2.
It will be fun to see what you do with this one. Now, who's got an open lift you can use for a couple of weeks?
Hummer H3 was a totally underrated rig. Back in October I watched a bunch of them drive all over the trails I was doing in my H1.
That dark tint is what more than likely saved the plastic chrome from peeling.
I own a 2009 with the I5. We had to replace every suspension component and new throttle body. Even though it’s been a pain I love it. Hummers are good vehicles if you get a good one and are willing to spend money on it.
Amen to that
Point of correction JR - the H1 has not "plastic handles" on the hood.
Those should definitely NOT be the same CVS. Especially being the H3 is something like 3 inches wider. The diffs are even different 😂
I have a squeaky front suspension, garage said all bushings are fine. I have used WD40 specialist silicone spray and I goes away for a few day then comes back is there any better lubricants spray I could use ?
Maybe white lithium grease 🍻
... now I want one. Looking forward to the series
Love it! Great video, man!
I have a 2010 Kia Borrego with over 275K, it's been rock solid reliable, truly a great SUV, if you can find one, a V6 or V8, they're very cheap,
I have an 07 H3 with both the luxury package and adventure package.
What a deal! Honestly I’d buy it for that. Looks like someone lived on a dusty dirt road lol. Def wanna see it after a full detail
Can't have an automotive review without the shop dog! Cute spaniel.
Thankfully I was able to get my 08 Alpha and love it
This will be a great flip. Lots of cleaning and polishing. Get it running right and Cha-Ching!!
I just think that the stigma around them is ridiculous because the trucks themselves can't choose how they are used or who they are driven by. Kinda like the G Wagon. Great offroad but there's a stigma around them driving around Beverly Hills by wealthy celebrities
What’s ridiculous? Unless you think Jeeps and other off road vehicles are.
@@karlferdinand188 Completely agreed, the whole Hummer brand don’t get the credit it deserves. I love how people simply say they “hate” it without ever driving one or knowing anything about them. The H3 is the best vehicle I’ve ever driven.
Had a 2wd ext cab 5.3 colorado, it was a pretty fun truck, plan on picking up another one eventually
I remember seeing a hummer dealership before they went bankrupt was one of the coolest things to see glad I got to see it in my lifetime tho
I have one and love it. It’s practical. Got it used so invested a lot into it but now Im happy with it.
You can definitely tell the shift to “this is for sale” mode. It’s all of a sudden a great vehicle. Lol
I've weirdly always liked the H3. Especially in Alpha trim and especially the ridiculously expensive H3T.
I have 277K on my 2006 and still love it. I’m pulling the inline 5 for a V8 with a new trans and going dual exhaust too
Go drive it on Ice in 4wd. The software for the traction control was Hummer specific and was awesome!!
Thanks!
Thanks for watching!! 🍻
Hummer needs a professional deep clean on interior and a good cut and polish to bring back the shine.
I’m excited I have an 06 adventure so I have 4.10 gears and a locking rear differential but the 06 had the less ideal 3.5 instead of the 3.7 but I’ve put it on new shocks and 35s and it’s a beast offroad puts a lot of Jeep’s to shame
Giving serious thought to buying one. Thanks for this video!
2007 H3 - 300k highway miles due to my snowboarding obsession. It's seen many trips up many mountains in the western US. Biggest issue so far - I'm on radiator #3. Will own it until the wheels fall off.
