My entire life, Hummers have been a weird vehicle to consider owning, but now that I have one.... I LOVE IT! 😁 What do you think about the new channel vehicle and the plans for it?? Let me know in the comments!
About ten years ago I had one with a 4 inch lift...I regret selling it. Never seen one on the road that looks like it since. It had the 5 cylinder and was slow but had the rear locker...I got a 4 door wrangler now... but them h3s still look cool ...🎉 I'm thinking of getting another one with both locking differential s they will become a classic....
Alpha owner here. Only reason you couldn’t keep up with the 392 is that you found an Alpha without the Offroad package which includes the 4:1 transfer case and locking rear differential. I have an Offroad Pack; it is unstoppable. Also, you didn’t keep your momentum driving up the rocks or through deep mud. Closest thing to locking the right/left together is similar to Humvee locker engagement by applying light brake application to help prevent freewheel spin & keep traction. Get an ARB air locker or two and swap in the BW4494 transfer case and an aluminum shift fork.
Yeah mine just hit 215 and i had to replace the fuel pump. Not bcus it went out, just bcus it started to have a slight hesitation when i would give it gas from a stop and when id stop, the rpms would dip slightly. But that fixed it. Drive it like that for 3 months, everyday before i decided to fix it lol😂
Props to you for going unique and different. Toyotas are a dime a dozen and Jeeps are the easy button. Don't see too many of these newer Hummers out on the trails.
Can see lockers in you future - would make a huge difference. Can't wait to see this one kitted out - have worked on these a bit, had one client who loved his Alpha's (had one as a daily and another kitted for trail running).
It seems like most people who buy one usually buy a 2nd at some point 😂 I might end up with an H3T at some point too. Lockers are going to be one of the sooner mechanical upgrades too 👍🏼
I have an 09 alpha adventure with factory front and rear lockers. It will go anywhere that jeep went for 1/10th the price. Plus I guarantee it rides better.
Two things. One, obviously as you already know, you did all of this WITHOUT the TWO optional lockers in the rear and front. This isn’t even the most capable or half capable version of an H3. And two, I’m not sure if you already know this but Hummers have a specific kind of Traction Control. There’s no way to actually turn it off as the TC button only lets you put it into mode 2 which allows more slip as needed off road, but more importantly it works by braking the tire that has less traction but you have to give it slow constant throttle to make it engage, it’s not instant. Giving it gas for one or two seconds real quick trying to hop over a rock you’re stuck on isn’t enough time to make it actually kick in, brake the free spinning tire, and put more power to the tire with traction. Another key word was “slow”. I don’t think an actual number is written in the manual but there is a certain speed threshold that you have to be under for it to work so you can’t just hammer the gas trying to get out of a hole and the TC give more traction to the bigger gripping tire. You have to apply slow constant throttle and then in a couple seconds the system will kick in, work its magic, and give you much better grip. Love Hummers! Enjoy!
All of my off-roading had actually been done with 0 TC or ABS. Because of the abs module failure, I wasn’t getting any of those assisted features. Since this upload I’ve fixed a lot on the Hummer so hopefully it will do better with traction next time I’m out!
@@Zorbii lmao touché. And how about that magical a** turning radius 👀 it felt awesome to flip around in a tight parking lot on my test drive the other day. Enjoy!
You need to invest in some tie rod sleeves for that IFS on such big tires. You can see both tires toed in when you were trying to climb that rocky hill. Try kryptonite products. The Chevy Tahoe ones might fit. I have them on my Tahoe on 35s and they give me extra peace of mind
Exactly what I was thinking, lockers and high clearance bumpers will make a huge difference. I'm anti-RTT unless they're on an overland trailer. It's a lot of extra weight to carry around all the time and they stick up too high and raise your center of gravity. Get a Smittybilt Scout trailer if you're set on an RTT or think about a Gazelle tent. Cheaper and just as fast to set up.
With no lockers you might have well taken a 5500 pound minivan to the mountains. I have an H3 with the rear locker and I never understand the guys that would rather have the H3 Alpha with no lockers VS the H3 with the 5 cylinder and lockers. Mine is the most reliable vehicle I've owned and has never let me down. With yours it's just a game of how long until you break something
I understand where you’re coming from and I don’t disagree, but I got the Alpha with lockers being a future upgrade in mind. I wasn’t expecting it to be the best thing right out of the box.
Awesome job on this video Danny! We have been watching your content for years through Gavin’s videos, but it is awesome to see you take risks and try something different for your own style! I watched it all the way through, even the stuff I had already seen before. Good job dude!
Thank you so much 🙏🏼 I really tried to make this a much different video than the ones we uploaded to Gavin’s channel. I think it turned out pretty solid for a Hummer Introduction on the channel!
@@Zorbii you definitely succeeded! I look forward to what you can come up with for some future content. And having a video of GA summer time brought on some nice feelings with how cold and bleak it has been here lately.
Glad to see you in an H3. I have the five cylinder, definitely wish I could have found an alpha. People give them a lot of hate, but really no reason to
I learned to wheel on an H3. Your truck has a limited slip diff so if you apply the brakes while one wheel is in the air, the other side wheel will receive power. Look up two foot off-roading and it will make your truck similar to a lock diff (not the exact same but similar).
An LSD would power the opposite wheels even if the other ones are in the air (obviously not compareable to a locked diff), this is clearly an open diff that requires you to apply the brakes to get the wheel on the ground to spin while the other is in the air
Thank you! I really tried my best to make some original content out of this so it didn’t feel like a repeat. I’m also really looking forward to putting the Hummer through more obstacles too!
We need 3.73 rear gears and lockers for her next for sure and that winch. Cams I know one that would wake that thing up and I know someone through Cleetus McFarland that I can reach out for ya. I have one in the suburban and it is a monster now. So Daniel stay in touch and we will get er ripping. Keep up the great work as always.
@beunbad I believe the adventure package comes with lockers in front and rear. This is the H3X alpha, so it’s got the nicer interior and chrome. I’m adding lockers in the future though.
I have an 06 H3 5 cylinder with stock rear lockers and I purposely got the 5 and not V8. It can still go anywhere the V8 can just not fast on the streets. Got it as the family vehicle and off roading. H3 are fun regardless.
I was considering that as an option, but felt like the V8 would’ve been better for content and selling people on the idea of a hummer being fun. Both make plenty of power for off-roading regardless.
@@Zorbii very true. I live in commiefornia so gas was the reason I went with the 5 cylinder and I’m familiar with that motor as well, I have the Colorado with that same 3.5. The H3s go for about 10k and up, in good running condition. The H3Ts are badass too, I haven’t seen one of those for no less than 18k.
I'm looking for a regular 5 cil H3 just to kill the wngine and swap it for a vortec engine. Probably I will choose a 6.0 L96 engine as it is the most reliable vortec/LS engine ever made, it weighs the same as the 5.3 cuz the block is the same and it makes more power due to the bigger displacement. Not sure about the transmission though, maybe the 4L60 is good enough, but if possible, I want the 6L90 (the heavy dutty you find in the 1 ton trucks with a gasoline 6.0). For the transfer, I think it will do just fine as it is, but maybe I will end up with a proper mechanical one and the lockers have to be air lockers, no way around it. The only thing that is bothering me is the lift... I know a 35" tire will lift it a bit off the ground, but a proper lift is better, maybe a 2 inch body lift to fit 37s and give it one more inch of clearance will do it, but there is only one way to find out right?
@69sound81 I’m kinda thinking the same thing but just swap the 5.6 for a 6.0 and keep the rest stock. I think it’ll hold up find with a simple 4l60 build.
Its funny all the negative comments on these rigs!! But i just really like my Adventure H3.. its not a rock crawler so to speak like these solid axle swapped ones.. but it will get me through anything i want to throw at it! I have 315s w torsion slightly cranked so it still has a nice ride.. but probably going with Badlands off-road torsion keys and diff drop and maybe a hidden winch. And 315 pategonias.. and maybe sliders if i can get some made to replace my plastic stock ones!!
What if you consider previously to the lockers, and cam the engine just to fix it correctly? :D Nice vid, but as a Hummer h3 Alpha owner I can tell you that your brakes were not fixed right the second time you were offroading. The ABS light was On, that would turn off the traction control that is AWESOME on Hummers. You need to fix correctly the brakes + traction control system (check your rear brake lights in order to test if they work), if not then the brake pedal switch its shot and the traction control would not work too. Please always remember that first rule doing anything with a truck/car, its to have it correctly serviced!
now drop 6k on a LS3 and a 6l80e swap, although not recommended for off-roading as you'll probably obliterate your t-case or front diff, I would recommend go to a local salvage yard, many are connected to a entire network of salvage yards and you can get the front and rear locking diff and electronics for a couple grand. Your 7.6" front end diff will be pretty fragile when it comes to adding more power and doing some hefty off-roading
I have the I5 and I enjoy it as well and it’s paid off. I wanted to get a V8 but I figured I’d just invest in a ls swap when the engine goes. So far it has been amazing for me
Do the H3’s have DOD??? I’m wanting something smaller but still off road. I’m leaning towards the new tacomas but I’d have to sell my barn door suburban and my 07’ Silverado to be able to afford it.

Great video! I have a 5cyl. Love it but really wish I'd bought the Alpha. When mine finally dies (pushing 250k miles now) I'll probably search for an Alpha. lol In my backseat driver voice: I honestly think you could have made that climb. Watching the Jeep, his approach was in a better spot - more steep but not as much as a crevasse. Also, a supercharger for the 5.3L Colorado will fit!
He did take a different angle, but I’m not sure I would’ve made it up that side with the diffs either. Either way I’ll be back to try it again at some point!
this is good...buuut a jeep commander is the same thing lol can have the 5.7 hemi, heated seats, independent front springs, very good limited slip diffs actually so good they just lock up basically, even better has coil over rear live axle, can have 3 sunroofs, folding 3 row seats rear climate control. it have 3 climates. it feels like a H3 but better lol I just love the commanders haha
Im probably mistaken but I could have swore the hummer got some kind of forced induction upgrade as a surprise or something could have gotten it mixed up with something else
There was an old supercharger kit for the hummers, but they’ve been discontinued for years. Idk if it would be easier to find one and rebuild it or just do something custom.
Hope you're well man. Will we ever get a full story on why you, rob and the crew all parted ways with Gavin? I don't think anyone ever told what all went down. I know there was the simple breakdown, but for so many to part at the same time, and no real guest appearances worries me that something deeper happened. I know it's none of our business, but I can't be the only one curious.

I’ve heard the 3.7’s are pretty nice compared to the 3.5. I’m looking at doing a metal radiator soon so I don’t have to deal with any plastic cap problems.
you do NOT want to waste money on a hot air intake that'll just suck water up even quicker. Stock box is capable of handling more air than an NA LH8 could pump out. Only thing that engine needs is AFM delete and a tune.
READ THIS BEFORE CONSIDERING BUYING. For the last 10 ears either I 4 mechanic shops have been having to work on my wife's H3 I can categorize this vehicle as a newborn infant in a diaper and its entire life it never gets out of that diaper meaning this vehicle is extremely high maintenance and unreliable it is by far one of the poorest designed Vehicles by GM. From the three-piece steering linkage that is known to always wear out, to the horrible battery drain issues, and if this doesn't sell you on pausing buying this vehicle, just look up how many hours General Motors calls for labor just to replace the alternator I'll give you a hint, it also involves taking off the front left fender this is how poorly designed this vehicle is especially the engine compartment I personally have a Toyotas my whole life my wife seems to love this 225,000 mile Hummer which is on its second transmission rebuild anyone who wants a Hummer only wants it because of how it looks this is by far not a reliable day driving vehicle

Yessir. Glad to see you posting! Hopefully more regularly scheduled videos?
Trying to be somewhat regular again!
Dunno if your just taking a break or something but i just hope you keep posting videos to your own channel n keep moving forward. Your work on the 6 channel was always able to brighten my shitty days your editing style and humor is something i hope i continue to see cause it did alot for me over the years ❤
I plan on uploading more! I’ve honestly been busy focusing on my new job and also taking care of some things in my personal life. So far it’s been a pleasant break from things too.
@@Zorbii first of all. Thank you for taking time outta your busy schedule to reply to Me. Means alot actually. Take your time the real fans will be waiting here for you when the time is right. Righting wrongs in your personal life when you have the time only makes sense. Like I said we will be here when your ready man. In the meantime thanks for everything you do. Keep truckin
Just bought a 2008 alpha in this exact spec, it’s an awesome truck, especially for the price I payed, love the thing.
I love mine too. The tan interior is to die for imo. The speakers are great as well.
Can't wait to see the changes bro
things ive always noticed about hummers is how bad those steering links are. get those upgraded and a locking diff too
I really want an alpha for short trips and offroading.
So have you checked out GQ and GU Nissan patrol's ?
hes in the US
@@bonespur2728 yeah but hey U can wish that's the hole point of this game we call life you just play along living in a dream hopping and wishing for the best of what ever it is for U and we all know the final outcome dousent really matter at the end of the day every is meaningless
Great video! I have a 5cyl. Love it but really wish I'd bought the Alpha. When mine finally dies (pushing 250k miles now) I'll probably search for an Alpha. lol
In my backseat driver voice: I honestly think you could have made that climb.
When is the Suzuki content coming?
Soon! Very soon 👍🏼
I was fortunately declined when applying to buy a 2007 h3, that was before I knew about the alpha and I know I woulda regretted it
Brings me back to my Nissan days. Getcha front and rear airlockers and onboard air and chonk will be a unit 🤘🏻
That’s exactly how I’m feeling. The diff’s are the only thing holding it back now. I’ve been considering some automatic lockers too.
this is good...buuut a jeep commander is the same thing lol can have the 5.7 hemi, heated seats, independent front springs, very good limited slip diffs actually so good they just lock up basically, even better has coil over rear live axle, can have 3 sunroofs, folding 3 row seats rear climate control. it have 3 climates. it feels like a H3 but better lol I just love the commanders haha
I have the exact same...plus other Hummers . Welcome to the club.
I must say, I’ve become a fan 😂 thanks for the welcome. Any recommendations for what I should do/expect from this one?
Im probably mistaken but I could have swore the hummer got some kind of forced induction upgrade as a surprise or something could have gotten it mixed up with something else
There was an old supercharger kit for the hummers, but they’ve been discontinued for years. Idk if it would be easier to find one and rebuild it or just do something custom.
@@Zorbii I was thinking that Gavin surprised you with something of that sort but I think I was thinking of poe
Hope all is well with you buddie ! Love seeing you in Gavin’s videos and your own as well! But don’t forget about us! 💯💪 stay safe homie
Miss you broski
Don’t make me wait another 2 months for a video plz I’m loving the content
It shouldn’t be that long for another video 😂
I worked in an oil change place when those came out.
When I looked under I was like
Huh
It’s just a Chevy pickup…
Pretty much 😂
A locking diff would have fixed a lot of the places you got stuck
Damn I would have never thought an h3 would be so fun!
Are you planning to still going off road with gavin?
I would but I don’t think he had anymore off-roaders. I believe he sold them.
@@Zorbii keep bringing the off road content broda!! We want to see more of that H3 Ls
That’s the plan 💪🏼 I have so much more I want to do with it
Great information. Drove my first Hummer in 1987 while working with Uncle Sam.
5 cylinder reliable my dad drove one in a Colorado til 350k miles
Ever heard of tire pressure?
Yeah. It was at 12-15psi for these trips 😂 I realize now it could’ve been a bit lower though 🤷🏼♂️ next time I’ll try 7-8lbs
Where did ya disappear too
Where you at? Need a update
Keep making videos kid.keep grinding
Dude we need more content what happened?! Why did you stop making content?
this is incredibly different, its nice to see Daniel being happy, i cant wait to see more content from him and watch him grow like he helped @itsjusta6 do
I forgot what gavin trade the jeep 392 for ?
S650
@@spencerknight6118thanks for reminding me
@Zorbii where ya been brother??
I've had a 2007 H3 3.7 since new. Worst issue? I'm on radiator #3. So spare me calling this reliable truck "garbage".
I’ve heard the 3.7’s are pretty nice compared to the 3.5. I’m looking at doing a metal radiator soon so I don’t have to deal with any plastic cap problems.
Should’ve posted it months ago when u first got it
UK subbed.but what's with leaf springs and American cars😂
When’s the next video in the series!?
Hummer H3 is good especially with the 5 speed manual transmission. The only thing wrong with the Hummer is usually the owner driver 😂
We need an update!!!!!
10/10 intro
It took a little too much time for me to make it 😂
These things get hated on for no real reason
Agreed. I can understand hating the 5 cylinder. But overall, they’re still pretty good for a used off-roader.
Wait... The Mustang doesn't have heated seats?
Nope 😂 base model performance pack
Beautiful hummer 💪🏻
Join some Colorado v8 groups for some ideas if you haven't already
Actually a pretty good idea. I could probably find some decent ideas and help there.
I'm allways in confusion. Should i get a hummer or a jeep.
Depends on what you’re looking for in an off-roader. For most people, a Jeep would be the better option.
@@Zorbii yea. I guess me too.
Cup holder can only hold beer cans in off road mode
The H in vehicle is silent
Where are the videos need to post videos again
put black wheels on this hummer, a metal rear bumper, and a cold air intake on this hummer
I have plans of blacking out all the chrome eventually. It’ll look SICK once it’s done!
you do NOT want to waste money on a hot air intake that'll just suck water up even quicker. Stock box is capable of handling more air than an NA LH8 could pump out. Only thing that engine needs is AFM delete and a tune.
@frostbite1991 I’ll probably end up with a snorkel and stock airbox combo
@@Zorbii that's the way to do it!
Hummer h3 the most beautiful car ever ❤
Put it in reverse Terry!!
miss you bud, where you at?
He just posted to Instagram recently that be got married! Said he has videos on the way
@@Bacn8rsupreme good
I check here often for an upload. What’s going on Daniel?
Same hope all is well!
Same. It's like he parted ways with Gavin and dropped off.
Been focusing on personal life and filming for videos in the meantime 👍🏼 all is well over here. I just haven’t been editing videos as much.
@@Zorbii We miss you!!
@Zorbii hell yea man! Life always comes first buddy! Keep doing you and let the people be here for ya return.

Lockers needed.
