I have an 09 alpha adventure with factory front and rear lockers. It will go anywhere that jeep went for 1/10th the price. Plus I guarantee it rides better.

That’s exactly how I’m feeling. The diff’s are the only thing holding it back now. I’ve been considering some automatic lockers too.
Dunno if your just taking a break or something but i just hope you keep posting videos to your own channel n keep moving forward. Your work on the 6 channel was always able to brighten my shitty days your editing style and humor is something i hope i continue to see cause it did alot for me over the years ❤
I plan on uploading more! I’ve honestly been busy focusing on my new job and also taking care of some things in my personal life. So far it’s been a pleasant break from things too.

Props to you for going unique and different. Toyotas are a dime a dozen and Jeeps are the easy button. Don't see too many of these newer Hummers out on the trails.
That’s exactly why I chose the Hummer! Wanted to see what something a little different could do on the trails. Plus, who doesn’t love an underdog?

Glad to see you in an H3. I have the five cylinder, definitely wish I could have found an alpha. People give them a lot of hate, but really no reason to
I really love the alpha, even with the open differentials. I think the V8 makes up for it.

Can see lockers in you future - would make a huge difference. Can't wait to see this one kitted out - have worked on these a bit, had one client who loved his Alpha's (had one as a daily and another kitted for trail running).
It seems like most people who buy one usually buy a 2nd at some point 😂 I might end up with an H3T at some point too. Lockers are going to be one of the sooner mechanical upgrades too 👍🏼
@@Zorbii lockers make insane difference , the amount of stuff you can go over is just mind boggling with single upgrade.
@Zorbii I'm on my 3rd h3. Still yet to get an alpha though. My latest is an 09 adventure ( front and rear lockers andcast iron front diff )
What if you consider previously to the lockers, and cam the engine just to fix it correctly? :D Nice vid, but as a Hummer h3 Alpha owner I can tell you that your brakes were not fixed right the second time you were offroading. The ABS light was On, that would turn off the traction control that is AWESOME on Hummers. You need to fix correctly the brakes + traction control system (check your rear brake lights in order to test if they work), if not then the brake pedal switch its shot and the traction control would not work too. Please always remember that first rule doing anything with a truck/car, its to have it correctly serviced!

We need 3.73 rear gears and lockers for her next for sure and that winch. Cams I know one that would wake that thing up and I know someone through Cleetus McFarland that I can reach out for ya. I have one in the suburban and it is a monster now. So Daniel stay in touch and we will get er ripping. Keep up the great work as always.
What cam? The Alpha also comes with 4.10 in the rear too
@@Zorbii How come you didn't use the front and rear lockers? Dont all the Alpha Versions have the lockers?
@beunbad I believe the adventure package comes with lockers in front and rear. This is the H3X alpha, so it’s got the nicer interior and chrome. I’m adding lockers in the future though.

Great video! I have a 5cyl. Love it but really wish I'd bought the Alpha. When mine finally dies (pushing 250k miles now) I'll probably search for an Alpha. lol
In my backseat driver voice: I honestly think you could have made that climb. Watching the Jeep, his approach was in a better spot - more steep but not as much as a crevasse. Also, a supercharger for the 5.3L Colorado will fit!
He did take a different angle, but I’m not sure I would’ve made it up that side with the diffs either. Either way I’ll be back to try it again at some point!
make sure to pull the airbag fuse before trial riding, trust me on this, and air down :D

May I suggest putting some tie rods in it? It looks like you almost snapped them on that one hill
I’ll have to look into it! I’ve heard the h2’s have weak tie rods but I haven’t seen much about the H3’s.
I was fortunately declined when applying to buy a 2007 h3, that was before I knew about the alpha and I know I woulda regretted it

With no lockers you might have well taken a 5500 pound minivan to the mountains. I have an H3 with the rear locker and I never understand the guys that would rather have the H3 Alpha with no lockers VS the H3 with the 5 cylinder and lockers. Mine is the most reliable vehicle I've owned and has never let me down. With yours it's just a game of how long until you break something
I understand where you’re coming from and I don’t disagree, but I got the Alpha with lockers being a future upgrade in mind. I wasn’t expecting it to be the best thing right out of the box.

I have an 06 H3 5 cylinder with stock rear lockers and I purposely got the 5 and not V8. It can still go anywhere the V8 can just not fast on the streets. Got it as the family vehicle and off roading. H3 are fun regardless.
I was considering that as an option, but felt like the V8 would’ve been better for content and selling people on the idea of a hummer being fun. Both make plenty of power for off-roading regardless.
@@Zorbii very true. I live in commiefornia so gas was the reason I went with the 5 cylinder and I’m familiar with that motor as well, I have the Colorado with that same 3.5. The H3s go for about 10k and up, in good running condition. The H3Ts are badass too, I haven’t seen one of those for no less than 18k.
I'm looking for a regular 5 cil H3 just to kill the wngine and swap it for a vortec engine. Probably I will choose a 6.0 L96 engine as it is the most reliable vortec/LS engine ever made, it weighs the same as the 5.3 cuz the block is the same and it makes more power due to the bigger displacement. Not sure about the transmission though, maybe the 4L60 is good enough, but if possible, I want the 6L90 (the heavy dutty you find in the 1 ton trucks with a gasoline 6.0).
For the transfer, I think it will do just fine as it is, but maybe I will end up with a proper mechanical one and the lockers have to be air lockers, no way around it.
The only thing that is bothering me is the lift... I know a 35" tire will lift it a bit off the ground, but a proper lift is better, maybe a 2 inch body lift to fit 37s and give it one more inch of clearance will do it, but there is only one way to find out right?
@69sound81 I’m kinda thinking the same thing but just swap the 5.6 for a 6.0 and keep the rest stock. I think it’ll hold up find with a simple 4l60 build.

@7Skyz I don’t think he has any of his off-roaders anymore. But me and Sarah now have 2 to continue off-roading with! I don’t think they’ll be going anywhere for a while.

Im probably mistaken but I could have swore the hummer got some kind of forced induction upgrade as a surprise or something could have gotten it mixed up with something else
There was an old supercharger kit for the hummers, but they’ve been discontinued for years. Idk if it would be easier to find one and rebuild it or just do something custom.

Hummer H3 is good especially with the 5 speed manual transmission. The only thing wrong with the Hummer is usually the owner driver 😂

Alpha owner here. Only reason you couldn’t keep up with the 392 is that you found an Alpha without the Offroad package which includes the 4:1 transfer case and locking rear differential. I have an Offroad Pack; it is unstoppable. Also, you didn’t keep your momentum driving up the rocks or through deep mud. Closest thing to locking the right/left together is similar to Humvee locker engagement by applying light brake application to help prevent freewheel spin & keep traction. Get an ARB air locker or two and swap in the BW4494 transfer case and an aluminum shift fork.

you do NOT want to waste money on a hot air intake that'll just suck water up even quicker. Stock box is capable of handling more air than an NA LH8 could pump out. Only thing that engine needs is AFM delete and a tune.

I was considering an H2 but they are HUGE for taking on tighter trails and super heavy. So far the H3 has been surprisingly agile

What makes you prefer the 5 cylinder? I think the 3.7L is pretty stout but I still will prefer a V8 in most cases.

I was actually running the tires at around 10-12 psi. Next time I’ll consider dropping them lower if we run into the same situation though. I wish I would’ve done it that day lol.
