Awesome! Just joined a band that plays this song and, yes, it can get a bit repetitive. But it’s just one song out of our setlist so I just sort of hang in there trying to keep the rest of the band locked-in with me. The groove is very similar to Footloose but with a lot of caffeine.
Thank you doing this. Right up there with Sunday Bloody Sunday and Walk This Way. Any chance you could show us how to do What Have i Done To Deserve This by Pet Shop Boys? Tah😂😂
Love your stuff. But please, for the life of all that's good, please _also_ color the subdivision (1, +, a etc.) that are used. Blue *+* for snare, green *a* for kick, and so on - the hats are, often enough, only subdiving. Don't just try to align the Ls and Ks with their place in the grid. Great channel, great host, great content. But please make these things more legible.
You have just over complicated this for me, I worked this drum beat out as 1a2a3a4 on the HH with snare on 2,4 and the kick on 1, 2a, 3a first bar then 1a and 3 second.
I love your videos and have learned a lot from you, but please don’t start doing whet everyone else does and start calling things “iconic”, or “legendary”, or “genius”. We all love you just for being who you are.
Walking on Sunshine Katrina and the waves 😂❤
you are great! love your channel and the focus on fundamentals. easy to follow. five stars.
Miss Amy,thanks for posting this.
Great timing. I learned this rather repetitive groove 2 weeks ago..... I needed to learn it for a band I was to jam with
Used to play this song with my old band. Indeed, the same beat, the whole thing through
Thank you!

You just saved me on this. Our band plays this, but I wasn't doing it right.
Sweet 🎉

Nobody asked
@@MolitovMichelleX You either.
Bye.
Que batería tenés? Suena Muy bien además de que tocas Muy bien
I'm hearing two bars of fast eighth notes
It was the Zutons who wrote this song.
Not Amy.
That's not Steve Windwood!
@VicSouders 😊
@VicSouders that’s precisely where I was going, I hear Valerie and I’m tracking Steve Winwood! One of my favs!
@@kvmalley I just saw him in concert last Friday night! It was amazing.
@@VicSouders SUPER STAR! I’ve never seen him but have tons of his solo vinyls! BIG hits during the 80’s and prior!
Only valerie I know is steve winwood and it is an awesome song. The sound on the keyboard solo is spectacular and legendary.
Surely the groove is quarter notes on the high hat with the snare on 2 and 4 like a punk beat...
Sometimes it seems a groove was created for a specific song. And once you listen to the result, any other groove just won't sound that good. ❤
You say Valerie and I think The Monkees.
Original of this song is by The Zutons (which I personally like better (but nobody asked😅))
@@duprod5482 But I don't know them, so I think of the 1968 Monkees hit. I also yell at clouds on occasion.
@@TheQuantumWave the Zutons version has a way more interesting drum groove, too:
