      @Iyengar7 5 месяцев назад +5

@@NextGenJay I can say you could be 50% right. Or Maybe not too, or I maybe I am 100% wrong in my observations.
      Let me explain why.
Bolt mentioned in his 2011 post Brussel’s Blake race that he asked Blake to take the first 100 easy and then fire up the next 100 as he has very high speed endurance/ explosive ability.. right??
Did Blake really take Bolts advice and that’s why he ran a 19.26?? I am unsure of it.
Because I believe his decision to fire up the next 100m of his 200 race to an extent that its still the fastest last 100m in a 200m race (9.12sec) is mainly because he had a pad start (.265sec) and fell so far behind his standards that he had to chase Dix out of the Blocks for atleast 90-95meters.
That adrenaline would have made Blake blaze through and get the gold.
I think this could be a case that sits well when we see it in hindsight because both the Daegu 2011 4x100 and 2012 London 4x100 world records had Blake in the 3rd leg and he was literally on fire on the bends.
If Bolt was right and Blake wasn’t a great curve runner, both those world records would have not been possible or atleast would have had lower time than they are now.
I mean, its just my hypothesis. Feel free to correct me or critique my opinions.

Bolt was right, that’s why he told Blake to take the first 100m easily because Blake was always crap at running the turn. So it made sense to tell Blake to not waste his energy on going all out in the turn, when Blake was never good at running the turn in the first place.
Bolt ran all out from the get go because Bolt was always a great turn runner, so his tactic worked for him but wouldn’t have worked for Blake to the same extent.

When Jordan was on the way out, he gave Kobe Bryant all the advice and wisdom that Kobe asked for, and to me, that's the proper way to move as a legend in a sport. Jordan was so confident in his abilities and in his accolades that instead of trying to safeguard his knowledge, he shared it with a kid who he saw had a similar drive as him. And as great as Kobe became he still didn't surpass Jordan's legacy if you ask most people. If I'm Usain Bolt I'm sharing my knowledge with people, and either I can take pride in the fact that they STILL couldn't surpass me even with all the knowledge I gave them, or that it was my knowledge that pushed a talent to their highest heights and moved the sport forward.

Noah has proven himself to be a top performer and a championship performer. However, the difference between him and Bolt is that Bolt didn’t care about the records when he started. He just cared about winning. The records happened because he was a phenomenal athlete. Noah is out here bragging about breaking records. Bolt never did that; he just worked and let it happen. Perhaps Noah should do the same. Bolt can encourage him, as he is doing, but Bolt owes him nothing.

However I reckon he would probably be more open to the idea of sharing that level of knowledge (when he's ready) with someone from either his own country or an up and coming from Africa. The 200 world record is a long way off but is obtainable. Bolt could have done 19.10 at his peak with ideal conditions.
The 100 in 9.58 is pretty much untouchable. No one is currently even running in the 9.7s!
If anyone takes one of these records it will be Tebogo. He was gaining on Lyles at a considerable rate in London in 2023. He is naturally gifted like Bolt. Give him a couple of injury free years.
Expecting Bolt to "help" Lyles is simply absurd on so many levels.

according to bolt himself during an interview after Blake's 19.26, Bolt did advise Blake on how to run the 200m well but did not expect him to improve his PB by over 0.5s, so that is kind of a different situation from now where Lyles is a lot closer to 19.19 then Blake was pre-19.26

Usain Bolt is fast not just because he can run fast. He does run very fast, but that’s half the story. He is fast because he can run fast longer. To understand this, you need to understand the distribution of speed in a typical 100m race.
Winning a sprint is all about reaching your top speed quickest while maintaining the top speed longest. Bolt ran 100m in 9.58 s, this means his speed was 10.438 meters/second. That’s the average speed, which doesn’t give the complete picture. When any runner sprints, the sprinter accelerates from 0 to his/her top speed, maintains that speed and then decelerates at the end of the run. The top speed for any sprinter is obviously higher than the average speed. In Bolt’s case, his top speed was 12.195 meters/second. This itself is not extraordinary for Olympic level sprinters. What’s extraordinary about Bolt is that he maintained it for a full 30 meters. Most sprinters cannot maintain their top speed for more than 10 meters. Bolt is not extraordinarily faster than other Olympic level sprinters. He is fast for a longer duration.

Bolt wants to see the record get broken like Michael Johnson wanted to see Bolt break his records. Records are meant to be broken, but wanting someone to tell you how it should be done. Micheal Johnson never told Bolt how to do it so he would have to figure it out on his own. And he will find much more satisfaction in doing it on his own. I am a Jamaican and I want to see him break the record.

I actually had an issue with Bolts' mindset here.🤦🏾‍♀️
All of these "Track & Field" broadcast have opened up the eyes of the general public on just how diverse track athletes are.
Different camps, training programs, psychiatrist, psychologist, physical therapists, gear, shoes, diet and so on.
No two athletes are the same in how they train, their mindset, their bodies, conditioning or recovery.
So, why does Bolt feel as though the recipe he used can be dublicated in another athlete?
Maybe I could see it if Noah was at least his height and build🤔 but, he is not, so just that right there means that Noah is going to have to forge his own path to break that record, create his own recipe specifically for him.💪🏾
Nothing but love for Bolt but, I believe that if Noah wants it he will get it with or without his "so called" secrets to success.🤷🏾‍♀️
    Great podcast!✌🏾

Bro could talk to people all day about what he did but that doesn’t make anyone else Usain Bolt. Noah Lyles got serious skill but I know he’s controversial right now but in terms of Raw Talent and natural speed and stride I think Erriyon Knighton after this Olympics starts to build over the next four years and he eventually breaks the 200m world record.

It’s far more deeper than he thinks and Justin Gatlin is right on all 4 corners. The starting line today is not as stacked as it was in their day. Having that rivalry or rivals to push you over is indeed a different ball game and heavy on the mental aspect as far as focusing and manifesting on big goals. Noah plays around too much and you can see that in him. He’s in and out of that manifestation state

Bolt’s WR is 9.58 in the 100m. The next fastest times (other than Bolt) were Powell and Gay who ran 9.69, an .11 seconds difference. Lyles’ best is 9.79. That’s fantastic, but he’s never going to drop .21 seconds off his Olympic time. Never. I’d be surprised if he ever runs below 9.76 in his career. Noah will also never beat Bolt’s 19.19 in the 200m, and it is/was his best event. Nobody can teach Bolt-type speed, not even Bolt. Bolt’s height and length was the game changer. I’m not sure, but if Lyles didn’t drop his head at the line, he would’ve came in second to the Jamaican.

    Noah issue is the curve.
All American run the 200m the same.
Out the blocks, slow at the curve then play catch up at the 80m mark.
You dispense too much energy that way.
Fast out the block increase speed at the curve and allow gravity to help you down the straight.
This is how Bolt ran all his races.
Bolt, Veronica and Elaine are the best 200m athletes.
    Why:
    They have mastered the curve.
That is the secret Bolt gave to Yohan.
This is why Prandino do so well against athletes in the relay.
With Lyles top end speed if he gets off the curve with high speed and infront.
    Game over, record.
Lyles need to close his mouth and do some research.
    Talks too much.

I agree winning a championship is totally different than breaking a world record. He won a championship in the 100m at 9.84 but the time wasn't mind blowing. Those guys did push much that day. He did thec19.31 two years ago and has came close to that time again. He's not getting to 19.29 ever. I just don't see it putting together in the first 100m. He is strong finisher but it would take an athlete we have never seen beforeband he isn't it to break that record. Bolt broke records with no one pushing him except Gay running that 9.71. 9.71 was a former world record and it still couldn't get him the victory. Knighton will have to push him
