Damn you are so lucky! As a tech otaku, I really want this version of Windows 7. FYI: Nanami is included in a general group of androphomorphized inanimatef objects personified characters usually as cute girls are called gijinkas which were a trend during the 2009 to the mid 2010s which culminated in Earth-chan . So yeah. Great video and hopefully more similar content .

There is a whole series of official mascots after this, Ai and Yuu Madobe, sisters representing the desktop and mobile interfaces in Windows 8, Claudia representing Azure and the cloud services, Inori Aizawa for Internet Explorer, and of course Madobe Touko the Windows 10 mascot.
the close sound playing so often is actually a bug with windows detecting programs closing and windows is actually detected background tasks closing and therefore playing the noise
for anyone interested, I understood most of her voicelines and it's basically just a cute-proffesional vibe things like "oh, good night!" When exiting windows, and manga onomotopias as "sounds effects". And yes she introduce herself in formal japanese when you switch a theme. The logoff and logon are casual-like japanese lines of "well, see ya later!" And "welcome back" (the one you use when someone is coming back home).
In japan windows computers and even laptops, quite a few of them came with build in tv tuners or abilities to connect to tv networks. I own a couple of those my self, but never bothered to try them out.
I can see why that is with such small apartments in many places. Personally I love those Sony VAIO desktops that came with MD drives built in. Pretty cool idea although I also just know these from RUclips.

LMAO, Windows 7's anthropomorphization is voiced by Nana Mizuki, a legendary singer & VA in Japan. Who also sang the ACTUAL theme song for Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker.
I'll just say this right now, as I've found out the hard way when adding Among Us sounds applying RnG, of all the things, to a... program... called Bakageddon: Close Program doesn't only trigger if YOU close a program - some background processes exiting triggers it as well, too, and there's no real pattern to it as you've seen/heard for yourself.

It reminds me to Inori Aizawa, the anime girl inspired in Internet Explorer. She was announced in mid 2010s for the Asian market, but she was kinda forgotten :( Those voice clips are really cute
Her green design is strikingly similar to Kotori Otonashi from The iDOLM@STER, a massively popular franchise in Japan, and Kotori also serves as the guide in some of the games! The first iDOLM@STER game was released in 2005, so the time frame is pretty close to Windows 7's launch.

Man this is NOSTALGIC for me. I was hugely into OS-tans and had this whole pack. Hearing that "chiiiiin" sound brought back so many memories, haha. Microsoft definitely pursued the OS-tans for their adoption of Aizawa Inori for Internet Explorer 10 (the starting sounds of her first and last name are IE). There is even an animated short for her that Microsoft supported. This whole thing is a crazy rabbithole of anime culture and corporate adoption and I love it. Great video and love the deep dive!
"七色" (nanairo) generally refers to the seven colors of the rainbow, which based on the colors, seems right. So I'd translate the title of the CD as "Rainbow Generator
I think Windows XP had an official band named Press The Green Button. I liked the music. There were at least 5 songs. Possibly six. And they didn't all come with a new computer, so it was hard to find the last one or two. It would be great to see a video about that band or those songs.
This reminded me of the first Windows 7 computer I had roughly ten years ago. It was an HP Pavilion that came bundled with a TV card I could use with Windows Media Center and I indeed used to use it quite often.
I didn't even know about Nanami when I was still using Windows 7, but somehow looking at her feels...extremely nostalgic? I don't know, her vibes just exudes the early 2010s era for me. Great video by the way!
Interesting video. I've seen pics of Windows OSes anthropomorphized into anime girls, but I didn't really know that some of them were officially Windows mascots in Japan. thank you for making me aware of this hilarious and adorable theme; it actually works on Windows 10 too!! i now have a wonderful little Nanami on the corner of my screen who screams "JA JAAAAN!" every time i restore a window, which will absolutely not get annoying ever at all :D
LOL about the Gentoo logo on the bottom right corner of that advertisement clip of Nanami at 3:34. For those who are trying to find the archive of the theme and buddy its on the Internet Archive. Do a search of "Official Windows Japan Themes and Desktop Buddy" and it'll be the only one to appear (at the time I'm writing this anyway). Apart from the Windows 7 Nanami Madobe stuff, the same archive has the stuff for the Windows 8 OS-tans, the Internet Explorer and Bing ones too.
@@xBZZZZyt Looked similar to me too but I don't think so? Honestly not sure. PlayOnLinux' logo is more similar to a four leaf clover with the middle parts touching, while Nanami's hair clip is more like 4 hearts (in Windows flag colors) and the middle part the hearts doesn't touch.

I really like this video, I never knew there were Anime versions of OS's or should I say OS-tan, I do love how they designed her and everything. Keep up the good work ^-^
This video actually kinda sparked my initial interest in OS-tans, after I initially set my wallpaper as Nanami Madobe over a Windows 7 default background as a joke. And, I have the sound scheme equipped (and the theme) on my Windows Vista PC, Windows 7 PC, and Windows 11 laptop. In fact, I've even ended up finding out more about the original ones, as I find this stuff really interesting and neat.
Just found this Theme one year ago and I using this Theme to my PC from preview Windows 11 PC version until now and it's cool and still work, hope Microsoft make some new OS-tan for Windows 11
The "Device Connected" sound effect actually says "抜いても大丈夫だよ"(Its okay to disconnect) and Disconnected one is "あっ、繋がったよ"(Hey it's connected) so it's reverse These voice lines may also be voiced by Nana Mizuki(the singer of the included song), whose name is a pun for, well, seven, which could be why they hired her for the job in the first place.
This is so nostalgic! I legit used this theme pack back in the day the whole time I've had Windows 7 on my machine and yeah I did the same thing as you and disabled the "chinnn" sound. XD
Well, there's so much of her in the ultimate anime CD (the one from an hour-long video) and I must admit it's getting *slightly* more NSFW than this. However, while I wouldn't call myself an ultra weaboo, I was just fascinated by anime CD videos on this channel and I appreciate those people's hard work. (yeah, I replied kinda late)
The Nanami desktop buddy thing gave me an idea... maybe MS could do a remake of this (like a Windows 11-Tan), but with the purpose of being kind of a front-end for Cortana... I'll explain: when you say "Hey Windows-tan" (instead of the usual "Hey Cortana") through the PC's microphone/click the taskbar icon/anything that summons Cortana, the W11-Tan appears and acts as your personal assistant, just like Cortana usually does in Windows 10/11, by using Cortana as its engine... so it could do everything that Cortana does, from answering questions to opening apps or scheduling appointments on the calendar :P Of course, this would be exclusive to the Japanese market, or, export it to the rest of the world if it gets to be a success. I'm pretty sure a lot of people here at South America would love this.
This is needlessly cool. I agree on the lack of a custom cursor, and maybe this is just me But the Desktop Buddy got me thinking it was gonna be a, what was it, Desktop Assistant? Stuff like the old Parrot character or Bonzi Buddy, but that's definitely asking for too much. Now one question remains: The cat. What's their deal, what's their name? I somehow feel Kenny Lauderdale would be down to dig up and find an answer, man likes an adventure
If Windows 11 released an OS-tan with an official desktop assistant (that is also useful) that would propel Windows 11 sales at least in Japan lol. Especially if they made both casual and weeb version (where the casual version is presented more as a simplified assistant mascot a.k.a a cuter Siri rather than as a full blown gininka)
12:51 Oh my god this bring up a long long forgotten memory of 8 year old me opening a exe file of my Sony vials previous file and she scaring the crap out of me.
The "Close Program" and "Open Program" sound events in Windows have always been broken, often playing at times when the user hasn't performed any actions.
I guess it would be one of the ultimate end goal for desktop ricing to have your favourite seiyuu to voice the system sound theme. Or it could be invalid since ricing is mainly in customizing the desktop visual.
Great video! I liked that you investigated further to verify the claims spread around online. Refreshingly uncynical. Legitimately curious and just having fun with things!

Not only she is named Nanami, she is also voiced by Nana Mizuki, a very popular voice actress and incredible singer. And here she's doing a higher cute voice, but she also has some songs with a more powerful lower voice.
Even the VA has 7 in her name eh
After quite a long time, finally we got him to do an episode on this Windows anime CD.
Just get the theme for it, there's nothing really special besides the themes
3010s?
Hasn't it already been archived? I believe you can just download it if you want.
@@MondeSerenaWilliams I think he probably wants the actual disc, he did call himself a tech otaku.
well you say it as if gijinka was specifically tied to OS-waifues,
but correct me if i'm mistaken, but i believe it's supposed to be the name of a very broad japanese concept of humanizing in a cute-way inanimates-objects
on one-hand, you have absolute memes like earth-chan,
on the other-hand, you can consider "Aigis" from Persona 3 as a good-example, or Cortana (for the west) from Halo
To this day Touko remains the final Microsoft-made OS-Tan, as Windows 11 has yet to recieve an official girl
the close sound playing so often is actually a bug with windows detecting programs closing and windows is actually detected background tasks closing and therefore playing the noise
I like to think it’s her trying to get ur attention
AKA she’s sentient and REAL it’s rlly funny tho lol
for anyone interested, I understood most of her voicelines and it's basically just a cute-proffesional vibe things like "oh, good night!" When exiting windows, and manga onomotopias as "sounds effects". And yes she introduce herself in formal japanese when you switch a theme. The logoff and logon are casual-like japanese lines of "well, see ya later!" And "welcome back" (the one you use when someone is coming back home).

Wouldn't work anywhere outside japan cause they use different frequencies for radio. That probably everyone else uses for TV.
I can see why that is with such small apartments in many places.

@MrHolyKindness I'm actually considering it! I'm just not sure which version to try. I have a 2018 hp dual core laptop, 8gb of ram. Any recommendations?

LMAO, Windows 7's anthropomorphization is voiced by Nana Mizuki, a legendary singer & VA in Japan. Who also sang the ACTUAL theme song for Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker.
I'll just say this right now, as I've found out the hard way when adding Among Us sounds applying RnG, of all the things, to a... program... called Bakageddon:
Close Program doesn't only trigger if YOU close a program - some background processes exiting triggers it as well, too, and there's no real pattern to it as you've seen/heard for yourself.

It reminds me to Inori Aizawa, the anime girl inspired in Internet Explorer. She was announced in mid 2010s for the Asian market, but she was kinda forgotten :(
Those voice clips are really cute
Her green design is strikingly similar to Kotori Otonashi from The iDOLM@STER, a massively popular franchise in Japan, and Kotori also serves as the guide in some of the games! The first iDOLM@STER game was released in 2005, so the time frame is pretty close to Windows 7's launch.
it definitely is a reference to kotori
Not to mention that Microsoft themselves used to sponsor The Idolmaster project back in its early years
So it feels like going back to the full circle

people were mostly skeptical about the whole SSD idea ("it costs much and it claims to be faster and it's just a drive so it doesn't improve my computer's performance, also it can die really soon"), but thankfully solid-state drives became a lot more common

I agree on the lack of a custom cursor, and maybe this is just me
But the Desktop Buddy got me thinking it was gonna be a, what was it, Desktop Assistant?
