FYI If the person is operating as a "sole trader" it doesn't have to be registered at companies house, but a lot of sole traders "appear" as a LTD company. In the UK anyways.

No, we don't. Nintendo goes _too_ far. They think that copyright law is the same as trademark law and go out of their way to shut down EVERYTHING that even slightly touches their copyrighted IPs, regardless of what it is, because they think that copyright is "enforce it or lose it" like trademarks are (they aren't). Not sure if that's because it's like that in Japan (I doubt it, based on how SEGA has no trouble with fan-made media and even embraces it from time to time) or what ever the reason may be.

You'd be surprised - some people are actually capable of creating this stuff and thinking that they did a good job. Especially in places where this style of graphics is common (in less wealthy countries where modern technologies aren't too developed yet and they use the worst possible softwar to make those things).
They just do not realize that its wrong, since it's all around them, and also you usually value things you make yourself a lot higher than others, and often are blinded by the actual objective appearance.

Never gonna happen. Courts have ruled Microsoft cannot own the word Windows only a product name like "Windows 10". I can make a Windows 15 OS and there is nothing MS can do about it.

Of course Microsoft doesn’t own the word Windows. Trademarks are in certain classes of products and services, and trademark covers the exclusive right to use that mark as a source identifier for that product or service. So there’s nothing stopping me from naming a cereal brand Windows, and that doesn’t infringe Microsoft’s trademark rights. But what this Windows 12 company is doing would run afoul of trademark law. You can’t name your competing operating system Windows 12 and expect Microsoft to do nothing about it. Chances are that they can’t find the individual behind the company, so they can’t take legal action against them. Also, IANAL, but I’m familiar with trademark law slightly because I watch Lawful Masses. I hope this makes sense!

Don’t forget if you use any distribution of Linux the GNU license agreement says that if you modify the distro you must offer it for free because you received the distro for free to begin with. That’s why you can download enterprise versions of RedHat, SuSe, and others. They can only charge you for the support they offer, not the distro itself. I’d be amazed if I’m the only one who commented on this area (sorry if others beat me to the punch). So, Windows 12 Lite is indeed free, whether or not the tool who modified it agrees with that statement is an entirely different story!

If I remember correctly, Microsoft went to court over someone using the name windows, the judge did not rule in Microsoft's favor. Said the word "windows" is generic terminology and doesn't necessarily imply to Microsoft's operating system. Logo is one thing, that's copyrighted, but the word windows is not.

@TurboSoftware It is very simple - k stand for kilo same as kg - kilogram, it simply means 1000 of the unit (kg - 1000g). Same here kb - 1000b (bit) kB - 1000B(byte). In this convention capital "K" is incorrect, although no one really cares about it.

Linux Lite is actually a very good distro for new Linux users (kind of in same ball park as Linux Mint) and runs very good on older hardware where Windows would struggle on.
This make me sad because some criminals take profit for the good work made of the Linux Lite team.
Yeah, i installed it on some old no-name all-in-one pc with 3gb ram, since windows 10 made it waaay to slow (who would have guessed lol, but at least it *did* run windows 10) and it became a decent usable pc after this

I think what he meant to say was "Windows is just a GUI for DOS", which is also untrue for WIN ME+, as Windows has not run on top of DOS since 9x. It now runs on the NT kernel and .NET framework.
