The most likely scenario seems to be that she fell off the car (it is consistent with her injuries). Additionally, with the time frame, it seems most likely that it was the mother's vehicle.
The coroner said that she wasn't hit by a car. She died from head trama consistent with a fall. She was found in the road at the curve on the route her mom went. Its obvious what happened.
Did the mother back over her without knowing? if she climbed on the car and fell off smashing jer head.
@@louiseharraway2599speaking from personal experience, it's easy to hit your head falling out of a car. (As a teen I was on a pickup tailgate, and the teen driving thought it would be really cool to accelerate hard from a standstill without making sure everyone was holding on 🤦). I fell right out and hit the back of my head, but was ok.
I've also fallen off horses at faster speeds and at some point you can't really help but flop so your head hits the ground.
So no impact with a car would be necessary- she could have easily hit her head in the fall.
I wouldn't say it's obvious because if there were absolute proof it would be solved after all this time.
Sadly I believe she fell from her mum's car. Possibly her mum didn't even know. A very sad story especially losing her brother as well.
I think only one vehicle was on that road that day…the mothers vehicle and something terrible happened and she was in denial and panicked and couldn’t face telling the full story out of utter disbelief and pain and regret.
I agree. I also don’t think the police want to look into it bc they believe what you said, and they know the family, specifically the mom, is already dealing with the pain and it was an accident and there’s nothing that can be done. 15 mins in an isolated neighborhood just doesn’t seem like there was probably anyone else on the road.

Hi John. Ken Mains covered this case a few years ago and posited a theory that seems fairly plausible. He suggested that she had sat on the back of the car and her mother drove off without knowing she was on there, and her daughter fell off en route to the house. He thought that it was an accidental death.

My gut tells me Nancy actually took the longer route around the loop, not the short one and Katherine tried to ride on the back of the vehicle but fell 1/2 way through the loop - and though it may have been an accident, Nancy ultimately hid the truth and covered it up. She felt guilty for being negligent. Just because the family is wealthy and has ties to a rock star doesn't somehow, magically, make her faultless or innocent. Also, you know who would lovingly smooth her hair and straighten her clothes? A mother.
This is exactly what I have always thought as well.
Some one had said that the mom would let them ride on the back of the car through the complex. She had a broken thumb and her one hand was all wrapped up in a cast. I cant believe she would have let her on that day. Katherine may have snuck on the back with out her mom knowing but her mom didn't see her is probably what happened.
On Unsolved mysteries it said the mom took the long was around which is where she was found

Katherine's story was new to me. Thank you for sharing it. I think not knowing what happened would be something I could never let go of.

So I looked up the 1996 suburban and some of them had a back window wiper. Maybe she stood on the back bumper and held onto the wiper where it attaches to the window. And then lost her grip when her mom drove around the corner in the neighborhood. So sad. :(
I can't imagine a wiper blade being very sturdy or able to hold much weight but you're right and a child wouldn't consider that.

I think its odd her brother neever spoke about it before he passed. He passed in 2020-social media was prevelant and he had been an adult many years. Very interesting career choice. An 8 yr old would remember and be aware of they saw something.

I always wondered if that song had special meaning for him, that's not something you write just to write it. The album was "Destination Anywhere". Absolutely heartbreaking. ❤
Several things. I don't think her standing up can be totally dismissed. Here's why. The mom was driving in a very familiar place. She had today's mail sitting next to her. Being a neighborhood road that has no cross streets, ie. it only leads back out to the "main street", it's probably not busy. So is probably distracted by the road in front of her and the mail beside her. The possibility exists that she would never have noticed her daughter standing in the back window. In the 90s, we owned such a suburban. It's comparatively really far back. I could see Nancy miss seeing her daughter.
Second, an observation. Something that kind of bothered through the whole episode. Now, I may have missed it. But there was no mention of blood. Just curious, wouldn't there have been some on the pavement?

I tend to think similar. I theorized in my own comment that Katherine could have even changed her mind about walking once she realized her mom was going to be driving the opposite direction and a longer route home meaning she would be totally out of sight from her. I know at 6 this would have scared me into backing out. Especially if she usually walked with her brother and only recently started walking alone. It could be that when she asked to walk she assumed her mom would be going in the same direction, as soon as she realizes her moms going the other way she panics and tries to get back in the car leading to an accident. I personally find this more likely than her holding on and riding on the back unnoticed. However, in this theory I believe the mother would be lying about where she was found and the accident would have happened closer to the mailbox and entrance to loop. To me this would also explain why the mother decided to grab her up and drive her to the hospital instead of calling 911. It guaranteed no one else would see the scene and gave her 25 minutes to come up with another story. Either way it's a tragic accident in my opinion. With at worst some possible bad decision making immediately after the fact.
And I know that in my van, the headrests on the rearmost seats, if they are pushed up, can block the view of objects near the bottom of the window.

I'm almost certain that she held on without the mom realizing it (the mom was probably chatting with her son, the radio could have been playing...), and she fell off. Since 911 wasn't called, there aren't other witnesses about her body position. Her mom could have been so traumatized, she's confused about details. No other theory makes sense to me.
If I was a kid, I'd have my toes on the bumper, crouched down, my butt hanging out and holding on to the handle with both hands 🤷🏾♀️
I don't understand how this would be possible. How would the child stay on the bumper this way??
Especially as a 6yo. That's too tiny, she's probably smart enough to realize she's too tiny for that specific maneuver you're describing.
She couldn't have done it because Katherine's hand was in a cast.

I can’t help but think the little girl fell from her Mom’s car and her Mom just doesn’t want to accept that she accidentally didn’t see her because she may have been distracted. It would be hard to deal with the fact that you could have unknowingly caused your child to incur fatal injuries.
There is zero supporting evidence of any kind. Theorizing in this case is useless. It can only be based on feelings and assumptions which have no accuracy at all.
@@aarondavis8943 Isn't that the whole point of BrainScratch? A death that has some weird circumstances and is not solved? I think that is why most of us subscribe to and watch this channel.
I think the theory of her falling from her mom's car is valid. If one of the theories is that she was hit by a car, falling from a car could very well cause the same injuries. Feelings and assumptions can play a part in solving the case or maybe lead to more evidence. The information we have does not rule out an accident with a car in some way so the theory of falling from the car could be possible.
Kids riding on a bumper on dirt or side roads is something I remember seeing back then. So it's possible she knew she was there and she fell off.

@@aarondavis8943except her mom allowed her kids to do that in the past so, yes. That’s the sole theory that holds any weight. She likely did it without her mom knowing, so mom didn’t drive as carefully as she would’ve when she was aware the kids were riding her bumper.
It’s horrific and tragic but a six year old shouldn’t have been left alone even for a short walk and dangerous activities like climbing onto and clinging to the back of a moving car should, obviously, never have been an activity the mom allowed, even under her supervision.
The older this story gets, the more details are being lost to the mythos, absolving the mom of responsibility and pushing the idea there was a crime, when it’s far more likely it was an innocent accident influenced by mom having previously encouraged a dangerous game of bumper surfing between the mailbox and their home.
She fell off, from the height of a fast moving SUV, on pavement, was left for who actually knows how long in the road when time was of the essence, then moved with extreme impact injuries to the head/spine/etc.
This is a tragedy filtered through the guilt and grief of parents in denial.
I really feel for the mother of this child, because accidentally unaliving your child is something you never recover from, no matter how much therapy you receive to treat it. My nephew's best friend from childhood died in a similar manner. His father was backing down the driveway, and didn't see his kid playing there.
I'm so sad for these parents, because of course that's the last thing on earth they would want to happen.💔 I'm not sure I would survive that.
I think it's pretty obvious that the girl fell off the moms vehicle. There is a good possibility the mom didn't know, and probably couldn't bring herself to deal with the possibility, but with the facts and the small time window, it is almost impossible that it happened any other way.
Parents let their kids ride all kinds of ways on little roads like this
It sounds like she could have been trying to hang onto her mothers car but depending on body position would probably be the answer as to if she fell off her mothers car. Kids can make quick decisions and act upon them.
I think this is what happened, too. Katherine had a splint on her thumb, which told me that she was a risk-taker; despite what the reconstruction results were, kids will find a way to do what they want to do (think the "Harambe Kid"). Katherine's injuries were also consistent with a backwards fall from a vehicle while trying to hold while standing on a bumper. Sadly, this appears to have been an accident passed off as a kidnapping attempt, and both Katherine's parents have divorced, the father now living in Canada.
@@LadyGreyBlackagreed. As a teen I fell backwards out of a truck bed (thankfully at quite low speeds). I landed on my butt, rolled backwards, and hit the back of my head, thankfully not hard. At speeds a bit faster, that could be easily fatal without a lot of other injuries.
Your videos are just so heartbreaking but I really appreciate your hard work. Crime against anyone is horrific but against an innocent child just sinks to a new low. So many monsters lurking around

This segment of unsolved mysteries really stuck with me. It's one that stands out in my mind from the Dennis Farina years. It's a very strange and unsettling thing. 😢
I remember very well seeing this case on Unsolved Mysteries years ago and I was baffled as to what could have happened. I just feel like an abduction attempt doesn't make the most sense,an accident of some kind seems the most likely to me whether it involves a stranger hit and run or somehow an accident involving the mother's vehicle it's really hard to tell and unless someone was to come forward and admit involvement I don't see this ever coming to closure.
I haven't watched in ages. You are looking well John. Definitely remember this case due to Bon Jovi's connection but most UM episodes kind of stay in your head in frightening ways.

Even today I would never wait on an ambulance if my child was laying injured before me and I had immediate access to a vehicle. Minutes count and you can't count on anyone but yourself sometimes.

When I was 5, my aunt dropped myself and my cousin off at school. As I was getting out, I closed my finger in the door, and my aunt started driving not realising I was still attached to the back passenger door. If it wasn't for my cousin running after the car screaming, I would have been dragged along with the car. I was so small that my aunt hadn't even seen me stuck to the door. This reminded me of my experience.

If the ambient temperature is 100° that street is probably 150 or more degrees. I would’ve moved her immediately. I’m not sure I would’ve driven her 25 minutes to a hospital, I think I would have tried to call 911 but they didn’t have cell phones.
As far as driving instead of calling an ambulance that seems completely normal to me as someone who lives in a rural area. The nearest hospital is about 35 mins if you drive the speed limit, nearest police station is 20 minutes, nearest fire department/first responders is 7 mins BUT it is not a manned station. All our local first responders are volunteer fire fighters/EMS amd would have to be contacted, someone would have to be in the area(and considering "town" is 30 minutes away most people work, and shop out of the area everyday), then they would have to make their way to the fire hall to get the ambulance and then make their way to the accident scene. My Grandpa grew up out here and was a dairy farmer, so he had some accidents and he also had 5 heart attacks. After they (my grandparents) had cellphones they would get in a vehicle and start driving to the hospital and call 911 on the way to meet them. I'm not sure how they handled things before cellphones.
Maybe it would have been a mistake but I can absolutely relate to what the mother did. I would probably have done the same. She probably said to herself that the pros might take almost as long as the drive to the hospital. I would have yes, done the same.
It would be really hard to wait for an ambulance that has to turn around and drive right back where it presumably came from. Instead of 26 min or whatever, it's probably twice as long. That isn't weird
It doesn't matter what was there. If you were freaking out you'd want to do what seemed fastest to your not logical freaking out brain
Why would she know where paramedic outposts were? And without a phone? I literally can't go anywhere without gps, i couldn't go anywhere unfamiliar without MapQuest. She went where she knew to go. Even if she did do something wrong all of this means nothing, innocent people do the same things
What would be the point of abducting someone for 10 minutes or so? What could you really do to them in that short of time? Especially if you only had a car and no home or shelter to take her to...idk, that just doesnt make sense to me....
What kind of injuries? Wouldn't that be very important to point to what happened?😊
If there was a random hit and run 1) the would not have randomly moved her body around the bend. They would have hidden it or taken it 2) if they hit her and moved her around the block did they also pick up every single shard of broken glass and car pieces? 3) there was no blood or tire marks ANYWHERE 4) a crime of opportunity abduction is so rare add on top of that a stranger abduction even more rare
A six year old with a black belt in self defence? I have never heard of such a thing.
I thought that was weird too and I was thinking what could a six year old actually do to protect themselves from an adult with nefarious intentions even if they had some sort of training.

I got a "walking in traffic license" when i was 6.
When I was 6 months old. My 2 year old cousin pushed me out of my mom's car, I got a skull fracture. The car was parked too. I was in my car seat and it fell with me. Since I was six months old Praise God I survived as my skull was still forming.

No. 911 took over an hour to get to our house and had my husband go stand in the road at 2am because they couldn't find our house. Then, had no idea what to do when they got there.

When I was 4 years old I fell out of my family's car in the street right by my house. This was 1982 so kids didn't have car seats back then.
A man driving by stopped to help me. I was okay.
My mom was driving and I was sitting in the back seat. She didn't realize I had opened the door.
Children definitely had car seats in 1982 my nephew was born in 1980 and I had a car seat in my car for him. My son was born in 1982 and I had a car seat for him and you were required to have one to take your baby home from the hospital. This was in Maryland.
@hannakinn I'm sure they meant kids don't have to be in car seats and booster seats till they're practically teenagers like they do now. I opened the car door and almost fell out when i was probably 4 or 5 as well
Just a note on the position-a person in fetal position has arms and legs bent and held close to the body. It is impossible to be in fetal position and have legs extended. It is not accurate. What is the actual position?
I have tried to be open that she could have rode on the bumper but I just don't see how if she fell off that seconds she would have screamed even for a second. Would her mom and brother had heard? That her brother has passed is tragic too. I just don't know what to think.
As a teen I fell out of the back of a truck bed. I didn't have time to make any noise, and the driver had to be alerted by the other people in the truck bed. I also hit my head (thankfully relatively gently) in the fall.
It was super hot that day, probably ac on, windows closed.
Her brother, Christopher, became a Police Officer. He was killed on duty on St Patrick’s Day 2020@age of 32. His vehicle was slammed by a negligent driver (no toxicology taken). My thoughts is she was hit by another driver, possibly a younger one. As a Mother, do not ever judge the panic. If she’d stayed with daughter & sent son to find someone, then waited for Aid how long would that be? Imagine your baby laying there. Crumpled on the hot pavement. You immediately scoop up & go. The mind won’t let you accept she didn’t have smooth hair & pressed clothes. It’s your baby that left your womb only a short while ago. The sheer agony of what she saw. My heart goes out to her.

It's 1996. No one is thinking of perverts/human evil like that - not to mention, 911/ambulances would have taken longer to summon with the son running down driveways for help.
This poor, poor family 😢. I happen to think someone offered Katherine to hitch a ride on the tailgate or something.... I'd love to know if there are any teen drivers living on the loop 🤔

I just watched this old Unsovled Mysteries episode on Pluto tv. I was struck by how unemotional the mother seemed in her interview, which was less than a year after it happened. This might seem like an extreme theory, but i think she may have killed her daughter by accident either wihout her son knowing, or him knowing and her convincing him to help her cover it up. The family give me a real Jon Benet Ramsey family vibe. They were a rich family with a lot to lose, the father, who was the manager for Bon Jovi was away on business in New York. Maybe the mother accidentally killed the daughter and realizing that she could lose her lifestyle if she was charged with something concocted the whole story. The entire story about going out with the kids, then returning home and stopping and dropping the daughter off at the mailboxes so that she could walk the rest of the way home just doesn't add up when they were so close to home, and the girl just happens to take one route while the mother drives the long way around the circle (which makes no sense) that lead to their house? nah.. there is something fishy there. I think the mom planned to put her body on the road thinking the cops would just find her and assume it's a hit and run, and only after they investigated it and declared that she wasn't hit by a car did the mother come out and say things like 'oh i knew her clothes were on too straight' and 'she seemed posed' etc.. I don't know, i just get zombie vibes from her in the way she talks about it. Even comparing losing a child to how families of vietnam soldiers felt when they didn't come home.. umm okaaaay..

Would a parent of a 'murdered' or assaulted child, really want Bon Jovi, or any celebrity musician, recording a song about the details of the childs death, murder or assault...details down to the date and so called exact timing?? A song played all over the world by a famous band... That is incredibly odd!!
It's doubtful in 1996 that they had a cell phone. I know in my area in 1996 there were (and still are) only 3 hospitals, upstate NY, and while there are other walk-in clinics now, they all have set hours, usually 9-5-ish, so they might not have been open, even if available... I don't think I would have thought to take her to an ambulance station or fire station, while they may have been closer, they might not have been able to help, while a hospital certainly will. I find no fault with the mom for driving her to a hospital. It's a split second decision, one she hopes will save her daughter's life. Such a horrible loss. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

Great work again John----- Katherine could of stood up on the bumper with her hands gripping down on the handle. The mom probably didnt look through the rear mirror as she was probbably looking through the letters etc - also being on a quiet road littrally round the corner from the house
Was there a Tow Bar on the back- 1 foot on the Tbar other on the bumper and both hands holding down on the handle. Bless her soul 🙏

The exact thing with the kid sitting on the bumper in exactly the same way, only in this case there was road rash but child survived. The cause of the fall in this case was a bump on the road.
Maybe not so unbelievable, for the brother.
41:35 Seeing the *type* of car, I can now *completely* understand how a small child could essentially sit on that back bumper, and hide. It seems pretty obvious she fell out of the car. Perhaps they had agreed she'd walk home, & then thought it'd be clever/funny to arrive home at the same time as Mom! I could fully see a 6 yo hiding on the back to be silly, without realizing the danger she was in. Maybe the mom didn't know this, but then realized she wasn't home in time, so drove back, perhaps with the immediate realization of what could've happened.
Both of the kids may have been mucking around on the back of the car, I don't think answers will ever be known.
14:03 I’ve had an emergency with my child before, to even suggest that a parent should remember to and be able to calculate anticipated arrival times and then compare driving to 911, which in a big city can take ages even decades ago, seems at best ill-conceived and, at worst, grasping at straws to demonize the mother. I’d prefer to only hear reasonable evidence, not the practice of twisting any detail into the narrative you are crafting.
I can't help but wonder if when she asked to walk home she assumed her mom would be going the same way as her, the shorter route. If she notices mom is going to be going the other direction and she would be totally out of sight, at 6 that could seem scary. Could she have possibly at the last second decided she didn't want to walk alone if mom was going the other direction and before mom starts pulling off she runs up and tries to get it at the same time the mom is pulling away? It doesn't necessarily have to be that she tried to hold on to the outside of the car, she could have been trying to get back inside. If we scratch everything the mom says, the accident could have happened not far from the mailboxes and if she make it in time to open the door as mom is pulling off the door could have swung open throwing her to the ground or who knows maybe she didn't even get to that point yet and was just running back to try and get in the car and something happened. Besides the 8 year old brother (who it sounds like never spoke as an adult on his memories of that day publicly before his death) she's the only one who "saw" her daughter in that round about laid out in the road. I don't know but it just seems odd to me that in a neighborhood like that no neighbors would have come out to the commotion. Whether that be in the time the accident happened or when the mother discovers her. But if the accident took place at the opening of the subdivision or whatever you call this loop then I could see there being no witnesses. I think the mom or even neighbors would have had to have seen another car if someone else had been involved in such a short time frame, but that's just me speculating. Either way total tragedy.
I would start for the hospital right away
Me too. That’s doesn’t seem weird to me. Especially in 1996. My husband cut his foot off on a 4 wheeler and he had me drive him to the hospital. It just happened so fast and it was the first thing we thought and we had cells phones.
Yeah absolutely. Now a days I might call 911, but in 96 nah definitely would've scooped and drove her straight to hospital. Clinics weren't a thing in my area in the 90's-early 2000s so that wouldn't have been an option.

You want your child to be better immediately. Your brain goes into get help fast I would imagine. I would’ve done the same… Not sure why people are critical of that? That’s Weird to me.
In 96 she probably did not have a mobile. I would for sure have headed for the hospital. Even if she could call, how long would it be before the paramedics arrived. I am from the UK, so I have no idea. Here you are lucky to get an ambulance in less than 30 minutes, then they still have to drive to the hospital.
Yeah I think that would have been my first instinct as well...especially since the car was right there.
Maybe I missed something, but why would the mom drive the long way around to the house? She would of had to have driven that way for the falling off the bumper scenario to have happened.
It seems most likely she fell from the mother's vehicle. However, I would like to see some models of different scenarios. Depending on the injury to her hip, I don't think it's far off to think she could have been hit by a vehicle and thrown, hitting her head and getting the scrape marks to her body.
Also, what about the possibility of a side mirror striking her and causing the injury to her head?

Saying the neighbors house doesn't always mean the next door neighbors house. I call people neighbors and would say my neighbors house about their home and they are more than a block away. The people in my neighborhood are my neighbors but since my house is on the corner I only refer to one neighbor as my next door neighbor.

She passed away from head trauma. She was found in the road at the curve. The coroner said that she was not hit by a car. Common sense and logic tells what happened.
I fell out of the back of a truck bed that suddenly accelerated from a stop. Even that little fall, going like 3 miles an hour caused me to hit the back of my head pretty solidly on the pavement. People can die just hitting their head on pavement from standing if they can't break their fall. So if she fell backwards, it absolutely could absolutely happen.
My ex husband fell off his little bike as a child and almost died from a head injury. People die from falling from a standing position, hit their heads and die pretty often. My mom tripped and fell in her carpeted bedroom, hit her head resulting in a massive brain bleed. She survived but it took her 6 months to recover.
What about the neighbors son being alone wgen Katherine went to ask about her
$5,000 reward even back then is pathetic. $50,000 would have been more appropriate. I've always thought she tried to hold on and the mother discovered what happened and couldn't accept the responsibility for the accident.
I'd often wondered if rewards were kept low intentionally for a purpose, and I asked ChatGPT and indeed, they're kept low for practical and ethical reasons often. The main one is to prevent a flood of tips that aren't genuine but just hoping to get the reward. There are ethical and legal other concerns, too.
Her falling off of her mom's vehicle ( and she didn't HAVE to be hiding, it's something I've seen kids do in the early days on dirt/side roads so maybe her mom knew she was there but didn't want to admit that part) would definitely explain the strange choices of picking her up and putting her in the vehicle and also taking her to the hospital so far away herself instead of calling an ambulance.
Also, I think the injuries look as if her head hit the pavement first. If she was holding on to the windshield wiper or door handle and almost fell off at the first curve, she could've dangled off, still holding on, causing the scrapes on her knees and sides. Then the next curve came and she may have completely fallen off, head first.
My guess is hit and run. RIP sweet girl.

As tiny as she was she might have jumped up in front of the SUV, sat on the bumper and the mom might have never seen her or even realized she ran her over. She was driving a suburban, those are very large vehicles, you probably wouldnt see a small child directly in front of it trying to squat on the front bumper.

I wonder if she had her hands on the tailgate latch and both feet on the bumper. Her back would be towards the road. Perhaps the gate did open in route. If I was the private investigator I'd probably stray from this possibility as well $$$
Remember this from Bon Jovi also. Sad. I believe she most likely fell from the vehicle after sneaking onto it unbeknownst to her Mom. As kids, used to "Hookie-Bob" on icy roads in Montana. We grabbed the bumpers of the busses and basically skated on the ice behind them. Kids do unexpected and dangerous things that parents wouldn't fathom.
Its quite suspicious, her death occurs on the fathers birthday, hes the manager for Bon Jovi who then records a song about the little girls death, thats quite abit of 'hype'....the 'story' is covered on the program unsolved mysteries... then nothing more on the case ever again??? Something is really not right about this case. Theyre really pressing the 7th August 4.15 time frame with the song also...i think that is really odd, the entire case feels bizarre and full of coverups.
Great work!! This is one of the most unique “crime” cases and it’s stuck with me since seeing it on Unsolved Mysteries. My heart breaks for this family, not once but twice. Jon Bon Jovi did a great job on the song. I can’t listen to it without seeing her face.
I’ve took picture her mom looking through the mail, barely rolling away and the little girl jumping on the car. I did that so many times myself and fell many of them.
I don't know why they are talking about being a black belt in self-defence, she was 6. I don't believe she would have been intentionally hanging onto the back of the car. Again, a 6 year old girl, not a teenage boy.

Not sure if he touches on it but i recently was googling to see if there were any updates and saw where Chris, Catherine’s brother grew up to become a cop in TX and tragically died in a car crash on duty a few years ago. The family can’t catch a break.
Without having cell phones back then, I think I truly would have done the same thing! I think I could have got her there faster than getting to a phone and waiting.
There are alot of really bizarre murders and mysterious deaths closely linked to the music industry..
Maybe they moved her due to originally planning take her for help then panic mode decided instead of was too late she was dead dying the may go to prison so they decided to stop n pull over n set her out the vehicle again feeling bad but scared laid her out gently after they were planning take her for help which explains why they moved her but only so far away from where they may have hit her n put her inside the vehicle to take her to the hospital then as they drove for a second questioned the choice panicked decided fearing she was dead or going to die then they'd be charged so took her back out the vehicle if they smoothed out her close to kinda wipe away any loose fibers etc from her body quickly n then left her where she was found .. makes sense of y they d move her only a small distance away instead of dumping her some where else far far away to hide her body like generally see to b commonly done when murder is the motive etc

Could a family that knew them accidentally have hit her, not realized how bad the injuries were , started to bring her home & then panicked & put her out of the car if they thought she had passed?

Something doesn’t feel right… I have 8 year old granddaughters. I wouldn’t let them walk around the block alone nor together. I think the mother has something to do with this. Either way, it makes me sick. Whether the mother is completely innocent or not, she will pay the full price of that decision for the rest of her life and it’s like having a death sentence…
Without a cell phone, she would have had to drive back home, leaving her son with Katherine, make the call, then return. The ambulance _may_ have arrived within 10 minutes but it _may_ have taken half an hour or even longer. It's just impossible to know. General practitioners are not really much use, as most GPs can only provide first aid then call an ambulance. And if there is a closer medical centre or hospital, where is it?
She would have to move her off the road, not only because of heat but you are not advised in any first aid course to leave someone on a road. So I can understand why should would scoop her up and go straight to hospital. At the very least, you _know_ you are going to get the best care possible within 25 minutes. That certainty could make this the preferable choice.
Anyone who says that calling the ambulance was _definitely_ the better option doesn't know what they're talking about.
