    As someone who's struggled with depression on and off for most of my life, the desire for a change of scenery, the urge to just leave, is super relatable. It isn't even necessarily a need to harm yourself, it's wanting something, anything, you do have control over to change, and hopefully for the better. REGARDLESS of all that: as soon as his car was found in that state, as soon as they had the suspicion someone else was using his cards to pay for things or get cash, gears should have shifted. It sounds like the department were sleeping on the job and don't know how to clean up the mess they made of the "investigation". Clearly something more was going on here.

    • @thing_under_the_stairs
      @thing_under_the_stairs 6 месяцев назад +3

      Agreed! I've struggled with depression too, and I work in mental health care. Wanting to get out of your current life in some way, to make a major change of some sort, to break free in some way, is so, so common in people who have been dealing with depression. How can a person in that mental state *not* think of some form of escape from time to time? It's not a desire for self-harm quite a lot of the time, though it can lead to it, but more a desire for escape from the circumstances that are behind the depression. In this case, I think that's what he was talking about rather than the self-harm aspect.

      Yes, they’re super underfunded & completely understaffed. They have sooo many unsolved homicides. It’s the main reason The First 48 tv show stopped filming there-bc it made their PD look incompetent when every episode said “still unsolved” at the end. Crazy. They have a large population & a large # of murders, both of which get larger every day.😥

    Thank you Angel, for sharing your thoughts and feelings about your nephew Nathaniel. My heart just breaks and goes out to you all. I am praying for a new set of individuals in law enforcement get on the case, that they make some progress in his case soon, and that you and your family find some resolution and peace. And I am praying that his friends AND "frienemies" - each and every one of them - take a beat to think of the pain they are causing by not coming forward to help - even anonymously. No case is unsolvable!! Never give up and stay strong Angel, and please send love and strength to your sister! {{Virtual Hug}}. Question: Maybe this procedure was done and I missed it, but if that car had to be driven to the location, possibly by someone else, wouldn't THEY have had to breathe into that breathalyzer to get the vehicle to start, and shouldn't it have been swabbed for DNA also?

    I’m the last one to every drop the racial card and it makes me mad that it’s over used even with my passion which is MMIWP, however , that was the first thing that came out of my mouth in this case.
    I have a question, bullet holes in the car, yet no blood in the car???? Okay then how was he murdered , with no blood in the car? That makes 0 sense. I call bs on them telling this family that. Is it possible that Nathaniel could have known something about this police chief and his issues? I find it odd all this happened like this. I really do believe , like Angel said, he had some friendemies. I know the feeling I’m always the one taking care of my friends and checking on them and for my own mental wellness I had to say enough is enough and I just stopped. Sadly, I check on those who care about me and the ones who don’t, I don’t!
    Miss Angel you are an absolute hero! If anything happens to me, I want you in my corner. We will be your community now and God has got this in His time. Trust and believe! Nothing is impossible with God and don’t let them tell you this is impossible.
    We at the LA community love you and your entire family will be in my prayers!

    I don't get why the police have not gone full bore with this case. I know there's 400,000 some acres of terrain out there, but a grid search of the area is obviously needed immediately after finding the car. I'd say LA has a serious issue with missing white woman syndrome, but it is probably even more than that because they don't seem to have any interest in solving the plethora of cases of all people missing and murdered. To call this "impossible" is ridiculous. Nathaniel obviously has a kind, caring and close family, even the most depressed person would probably not leave a family like that behind voluntarily. I guess anything's possible, but we can see evidence from thousands of miles away that that's not what happened. Poor policing, poor investigation, and this family deserves to know where their loved one is. I doubt the person responsible has it in them to come forward, so the police really need to step up and solve this the correct way. My heart goes out to this gentle kind family. Where ever Nathaniel is, I hope he is at peace. May his family get that too.

And just hang in there with the pronunciations, it can be confusing when my sister came to visit I had to help her with names and words. There were other towns in Louisiana that have been outed recently for covering up murders and crimes etc. They were burying these poor victims in a potters field in unmarked graves. One mother fought like hell to find her son and the police department kept blowing her off and lying to her just like this case.. she wouldn't stop and finally it came out they knew all along her son was in that field in an unmarked grave.
    Could it be some kind of accident by a police officer? Or someone known and close to an officer who then intentionally botched the case and had his cards used etc?
