Ohtani is the real deal! Someone give Stephen A. Smith this new flash.
well said. Shohei is a special player
Ben Verlander does not know his arse from a hole-in-the-ground concerning sports, and neither do you.
Shoehei is the reason I started back into baseball.
I’ve said this since he first got hype over in Japan years ago, “he’s the best baseball player ever.” And he proves it. Throws 100 and hits bombs. Nothing like him ever
He is having one of a kind season, but too early to cement him as ‘the best ever’ pump on the breaks a bit man lol
Slow down dude. Baseball is almost 200 years old. A 3rd year player is not the best player ever. People say that about Mike Trout and I tell them slow down and he's at least been in the league 10 years.
@@jayc379 and Henny, there are great players who ruins their performance by injury and other factors.
ttv is talking about talent, not about how good they can play in long term.
rather just one year of record proves how good they are.
why you didn't tell me that earlier? His jersey is now more than 120 ,000 $ now. double of Traut.
@@hennylo68 you don’t get it and that’s ok! There’s no player like him! He does everything! Throws 100 and hits bombs! Best player ever period! No one has ever done that

He has stolen 8 bases this year and has been thrown out 5 times. Thats awful

Ohtani is the only reason I care about baseball and I'm a Pirates fan
I agree with you and I’m a Yankees fan!
Y’all got Tatis & Judge smh
Is that the name of the game ohtani plays ?
@Noah Anderson you’re right im just a casual admiring Ohtani’s greatness
@@gpropho don’t ever put Judge with Ohtani or Tatis
Bro. Ohtani is the reason why everyone, including myself are tuned into baseball. And I'm a Eagles and 76ers fan.
Baseball is not big sport here in Philippines but I started looking at baseball because of Ichiro and became a fan because of Shohei.
I never used to watch baseball but I’ve obsessed about Ohtani since last year. I watch him every time he plays and watch the highlights again and again 😂
I totally agree. I don't watch baseball but I've been instantly captivated by this guy. I can't believe I haven't been seeing this everywhere all year.
Love Ohtani.
Yes. Love Ohtani
Never even paid attention to baseball until Ohtani. He is remarkable to watch!!!
Credit where it is due ... that was two great takes.
Of course you don’t see Angels caps in LA Colin, they play in OC. I’m a Dodgers fan but I’ve lived in OC my entire life - plenty of Angels caps here.
Does colin think the LA angels actually play in LA?
Its probably a gang affiliated hat at that lol
Yea right 🤦🏽♂️
Lmao yeah you see shohei stuff everywhere too
Cali is a dump. High taxes, high crime, high homeless, expensive housing.
Saying it again for those in the back. Give us more Shohei!
The Angels have like the 2nd highest attendance over the last 20 years or so. Don’t tell me you don’t see fans Colin
It is pretty rare to see Angel Stuff in LA County. Even though the are close, since he lives in L.A. you already know it’s all Dodgers stuff.
Angels games get a lot of away fans. The last game I went to a few years ago might as well have been a home game for the Yankees. This was when Trout was MVP and the Angels were a playoff team. It was soldout and Yankee fans were probably 60-65% of the crowd.

Colin coming back from his 3 day weekend with some massive swings. DAMN
Yeah this take is straight up high heat
Yeah he turnt the stove up with this take.
Colin, I enjoy your take on things. Right on time!!
I've been saying this for the last 10 years.... let's go international boys!!
He is great but Stephen A does not think he should be the face of baseball, because he can not speak English,it is racist
REAL TALK: I got interested in watching baseball again because of Ohtani. The last time i watched baseball was the Toronto Bluejays winning the world series.
Was waiting for Colin to talk Ohtani! Did not disappoint. Need more of this content!!
This is why you can’t compare players from different eras. Ohtani would hit 100 HRs against pitchers in Ruth’s era. Ruth would hit maybe 10 in today’s game. Talent-wise, there’s no comparison. Today’s athletes will always be bigger stronger faster than yesterday’s athletes. Doesn’t matter what sport.
So with all that being said, the only way to compare athletes from different eras is to look how dominant they were during their respective eras. Was Ruth more dominant during his era than Ohtani in his? Colin’s argument that Ohtani is better than Ruth is missing this point. Heck, even a lower tier MLB player today is better than Ruth if you’re looking at pure talent and skills.
The fences were like 450 ft back when Ruth played in dead ball era. Jacked guys today would hit in the teens back then.
@@gnarpress Ohtani hit 23 400+ feet home runs in 2021.
Good Job, Colin... Both Good Takes. Thanks! 🌞
Colin didn't know who Ohtani was until this morning.
i don't think colin watches any sports games.
Lmaooo that’s cold
Disagree with Stephen A on this. I do my best stuff when I need an interpreter…at 1 AM after a few drinks.
It’s annoying because Stephen A is always the first one to call someone else a racist. And Ik he apologised but still pretty hypocritical from him because you don’t need to speak English to hit dingers
Just started watching baseball again because of Ohtani, I also just purchase his jersey as well
Injury is the KEY! If he does not get injured, he will prove how great he is. Ichiro hardly got injured, then he hit 3000, 200-hit 10 yrs in a row, 262 hits a yr. When Ichiro got interviewed by the Japanese media @Tokyo Dome when he retired, he said Shohei must become #1 player in the world. Shohei has that caliber to become he said.
I’ve never cared for baseball until I started to see Tatis and Ohtani highlights 🤷🏼♂️
Tatis and Padres suck
Colin understands the great things of Shohei Ohtani well.
The economic barrier to entry is super noticeable in hockey. That gear is hellaaaa expensive. Getting ice time is expensive. Building and maintaining an ice rink is expensive for cities.
Here at utah state the hockey team was great for a long time but only considered a "club" so never received compensation compared to the rest of the athletic department including a long time bad football team that was constantly getting bailed out. The hockey team had to foot all their own bills. Its ridiculous
Not a big fan of Colin but i respect what he said on this segment. There was a time when the US could steamroll the world. But the times, they are a-changing
Im a steph curry, warriors fan..im all basketball..but damn when i saw shohei hits those homers and pitching all those strikes out here and there im like in love with him and now a baseball fanatic coz of him..my husband even jealous now and keep on commenting " im all you got and i will be your ohtani!"..shohei is phenomenal i love him...
Great job Colin 👏
Baseball has a great tradition in Australia longest played game here league in Australia is the oldest in the world not very big but. I play just weekend baseball and stopped watching baseball for last 3 or so years and started really watching again because of Ohtani guy is just amazing.
1. Shohei Ohtani is so good that SAS and fox radio are making pretty bad remarks about him. 2. Problem with Angels stars is that they'll never sniff the post season.
Colin is absolutely my favorite radio personality... Preparing for global takeover Resistance is futile: Shohei Ohtani
Yeah! That's what I'm talking about!! Two thumbs-up.
Collin calling people old heads cracks me up.
In every sports in USA .. international players dominates.. even in music and movies...
Hey those are two pretty good takes, not bad Colin, not bad.
Growing up i lived in a household where football 1st basketball2nd all the other sports we didn't care for until last month i randomly watch the Nationals vs Phillies game from start to finish and every since then i been hooked on baseball... To the point i bought the MLB tv season pass... Please Don't judge me idk squat about baseball but im slowly understanding the game
I got hooked on it recently too, ppl are kind when you tell them ur new especially
Baseball is the best. Nothing like it. It's about tradition, numbers, and all around skill. It's the most unique game in America
Ohtani is bringing fans back and new fans to the game!
Perfect take!!!
I have never heard of this guy until now
This is a great take on basketball
His take is pretty accurate. Claiming that a player from 100 years ago, when the sport was in its infancy and most players played it for fun and most times as a second 'job'. The sport, any sport, is better now than it was 100 years ago.
shohie otani like a superman
Colin the goat as always
Never care for baseball but Dame that boy ohtani got me like wow baseball
Herd you’re conveniently forgetting the hardest throwing pitcher of the 70’s…and 80’s…maybe the 90’s. Nolan started with the Mets and went to the Angels. LA has seen greatness on the bump before.
Sho-Time is crazy special though and a lot of fun to watch. Hope he has a lot of years…and terrible games against my Rangers. 😉
Nolan is awesome in his own right. But with Shohei we getting to see great pitching and power hitting.
It's amazing to think Nolan Ryan played 27 seasons! As hard as he threw, there is no comparison between competition today and the past. In 2002, the average fastball was 88.5 mph. In 2022, the average fastball is 95mph.
Colin clearly doesn’t understand how the “dead ball” affected hitting during the “Dead Ball Era.”
Nah bro the balls came from cemeteries lolol
@@eriklakeland3857 - They didn’t change out balls regularly like they do now. They would keep balls in play for an entire game if necessary in order to save on costs.

OMG, thank you, someone who isn't freaking out about USA basketball not winning exhibition games.
I mean losing even an exhibition game with a lineup of Dame, Beal, KD, Tatum, and Bam is still pretty embarrassing and should cause concern 💀

This is just wrong, for one he only hit when he pitched with the Red Sox, thus his 8 home runs.. his first full season as an outfielder he hit 50, when the next guy was hitting like 5! What’s dumb about this is Ruth’s legacy has nothing to do with him pitching, in fact had he quit pitching earlier, or never pitched, and thus played every day and put up more home runs earlier, his career totals and thus legacy would only be higher! If your going to compare shohai or anyone else to Ruth it has to be as a hitter only cause that’s the only thing that Ruth’s legacy is based on! No one cares he once pitched, it’s a story, icing on the cake at best, but has nothing to do with why so many consider him the GOAT, they consider him the goat cause he hit 50 home runs every year while batting 350!
Pitch and bat like that. He can win his own game.
Funny thing is HR derby, Ohtani (33 HR) didn't even get out of the 1st round and Alonso (17 HR) wins it. I guess Ohtani wants to hit HR against real pitching and Alonso want to do it with soft-toss:/
Ohtani was gassed. He’s not used to the altitude.
I think ohtani was nervous tbh. His pitcher was also terrible.
this video has aged very well after the WBC and the idiotic Mad Dog's rant
I'm Angel's fan because of Ohtani, Only thing I hate is I live on the east coast and can't sleep until 1:00am if they have a home game. 😂😂😂
Yeah Colin, it's truly weird that no one in LA wears angel hats. I was just as confused the other day as I was in Louisiana I didn't see many Green Bay Packer hats. SO WEIRD!!!!!
Yeah, L.A. and Orange County are two different worlds.
Thankyou😢
Shohei was "different" since he was a kid. Dad was a baseball player and tall. Mom was a badminton player and she's taller than average and super sportswoman. Both told Shohei when he was growing rapidly and throwing real fast, that to earn the trust from your teammates and other teams, pay respect to everybody, and never say any bad about the others, NEVER. Do that from today, and that was when he was 12. Godzilla Matsui was told the same by his coach that he was selected by his teammates to be the captain. Coach told him he should, must say nothing bad about the other people period. That was when he was 10. Both straight like an arrow and promised that with the same word, "gotcha." That's what they share, lol but it's true.
I know Hideki Matsui by producing the shades for his to wear at the Yankee Stadium 'cause we asked him why he dropped easy fly balls? The answer we had was that in the early innings, the sunlight was killing his eyes, and if the ball cuts into the light, he dropped those easy-to-catch fly balls. So, we made the cutting-edge polycarbonate lens for him and had the Italian company that used to make Oakley products. Had Hideki's head 3D-scanned and sent the data to Italy, and at the same time, Italians made the Oakley-like frame to mount the blade -ike one-piece lens. After he got that, he never dropped a fly ball at the Yankee stadium. I've met Shohei's teammates when he was playing in high school and all of them said he was always friendly whoever the person is, always positive, cheer up anybody who's down. He went to the high school baseball national tournament and lost. He wasn't in his best condition, and with some errors by the others, he lost concentration and lost big time. The other team was too good. Any pitcher would be devastated. It was a kind of game Shohei could cry out loud. But he kept his cool and was trying to cheer up the other player of his team. I met Shohei when he was one of the Fighters and just like Hideki Matsui, I fell in love with the boy. Always cares for others, and he was a super nice kid from head to toe. When we heard that he's going to the show, we thought it would take 5 years to be the starting pitcher. But never thought of being a home run hitter. And then he had injuries and had surgery. But he did his basic rehab training a lot. And he could have his knee back in shape as he was willing to. Then this season. The manager of the FIghters Kuriyama was saying that if all the gears work as they should, Shohei might do something wonderful. That's for sure. And now we are eye witnessing that the lovely thing is happening right now. A boy was raised by a sportsman's parents and everything taught to him was right.

@@tjjanosko133 whether or not they trained, the athleticism, speed, skill level today is far superior than those times. Its not a knock against old players, it's a natural progression. But it is what it is.
Saying he "never faced it" is ridiculous. You're saying he couldn't do it without putting him up against it. That's foolish. He's better than Ohtani - Period. If Ohtani ends up with a higher average, higher slg. percentage, more walks, more home runs, higher batting average, better win percentage as a pitcher, give it to him.
Shohei Ohtani should be on every sportscast o_o !_!
I am in LA County and I always wear my Angels hat when I go out...obviously I see dodgers hat/shirt a lot, way more than the lakers actually.
I need to start tuning into this guy. You can tell he does his homework and its well put together. Cant stand SAS and Bayless.
This is like saying Jokic is better than Bill Russell because he won the mvp this year. Jesus christ what a reach of a take. Can we at least let the guy play for a little before calling him the greatest baseball player to ever live.
When did he say he is the greatest to ever live?
This is basically a era argument. You can only compare players to their peers at the time. This logic could be used to say every previous GOAT is suddenly garbage.
Just enjoy Ohtani for what he can do, no need to disrespect a legend you don't have any knowledge of .
Man baseball must have been so easy back then. That’s why everyone hit 500hr with 500 average...🙄
Not saying it was easy, but it was easier, the talent and just overall skill and development was not anywhere close to what it is now
80 mph fastballs, a talent like Ohtani’s would have teed on that all day.
Yeah and you take a pitcher from now and from them back then they wouldn’t last a season... different eras but talking about how easy it was is stupid. If it was that easy everyone would be hitting everything but they didn’t. The mound was higher. They had spitballs ect. Also look at the hard throwers without sticky stuff getting smacked. Shows movement on pitches is important not just speed

Right on the point, come on, how many people were even involved in baseball back then even in the United States. It was a very regional sport, mostly in the North East coast and Chicago areas, that is where all these west coast team came from, Dodgers and Giants were both Eastern teams.
So Colin is explaining how a player from the 1910’s and 20’s wouldn’t be as great in today’s MLB? Yea that’s literally every sport, things evolve.
They also didn’t have trainers and facilities and nutritionists nor much science on any of that stuff. heck they didn’t even get paid enough to afford to eat well back then, they had to have second jobs.
Look up Ty Cobb with the Tigers. He looked about 50-60 when he was 20-30. People are much better shape, youthful, living longer today.
