    omg your theory on the "third god" and Sazed's religion is so right and so wrong at the same time, i literally laughed out loud.

    In the past couple years you read The Wheel of Time, First Law, and Mistborn. That’s some serious S-tier fantasy consumption in concentrated fashion!

    • @conorreads
      @conorreads  9 месяцев назад

      Honestly I’ve been kind of blessed that I had fallen out of reading for a lot of years.
      Which sounds backwards but it allowed me to have so many gems I haven’t read. I’ve got many years of top tier series ahead of me before I even have to reconsider rereads

    • @mcina001
      @mcina001 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@conorreads Yeah, I suggest keep consuming new content. Even though a re-read of The Wheel of Time is amazing, I am all for discovering new greatness regularly.
      If you love the three series I mention, I suspect you’ll also love the following books I’ve already read which I’d rate as superb:
      1. The rest of the Mistborn series-excellent for your prediction approach to RUclips
      2. The rest of Abercrombie’s books following the First Law trilogy
      3. Many of Sanderson’s other adult fantasy offerings, especially Warbreaker, Elantris & The Emperor’s Soul, and Tress of the Emerald Sea
      4. S. A. Chakraborty’s series (City of Brass, Kingdom of Copper, Empire of Gold, River of Silver)
      If you’re willing to branch out into sci-fi, I would recommend:
      1. The Expanse series (9 novels + 9 short stories)
      2. The Red Rising trilogy (I haven’t read the follow up books)
      3. Andy Weir’s “Project Hail Mary”
      Other fictional works which aren’t actually fantasy or sci-fi but which I would consider masterpieces:
      1. If you haven’t already read it or seen the movie, Stephen King’s “The Green Mile”
      2. If you haven’t already read it or seen the movie, Khaled Hosseini’s “The Kite Runner”
      3. Abraham Verghese’s “Cutting for Stone”

    One thing to think about: yes, if course it’s not Prosper but Preservation, but you already know that. It’s important though, because the two are different in key aspects. Preservation sounds benevolent at first, but it also implies a lack of change and stagnation. Neither Ruin nor Preservation are something you‘d want solely by themselves if pushed to the extremes.

    I think I forgot to share my favorite Well of Ascension meme with you. It’s that prequel meme with Anakin and Obi-Wan.
    Vin (as Anakin): I’ve brought peace and unity to your new empire!
    Elend (as Obi-Wan): My new empire???

    I was happy when I saw you already started HoA. I was expecting to not see this until next week. I enjoy listening to both your analogy and predictions. Once you finish the series you should watch a few other RUclipsrs doing the same with first read-throughs so you get the same feeling of anticipation for others to discover these for themselves. The one place I must disagree with you. Prosper and Preservation are miles apart. :) One is to exceed and the other is to Survive.
