I've got a few questions bro. 1) Are the vsts running from the MPC software or can the be running from any DAW? 2) Are you running audio outputs from the computer to the MPC Live hardware?
Ok answer to question one is I don’t know if you can auto sample with the mpc as a vst in another daw because I never tried it. But if you are auto sampling vst’s you would want to do it in the mpc software anyway and it comes with the mpc you bought unless it the ren and below. Question 2 when sampling vst’s you don’t need out puts going into your mpc. The mpc is an audio interface as well. You just need to have the vst and the track on the main screen to sample that vst if that makes sense. These are good questions. I thought I explained it well in the video but I will make a follow up video because of this thanks hopefully I’ll answer all the questions in that vid.

A quick question, maybe a follow-up? How do you have your computer setup to do this? I mean, of course the mpc is in computer mode. Are you in your regular DAW? Are you using the MPC software? What program is running on the computer end when the MPC is autosampling?
Sorry I didn’t answer the question, I was running the mpc software to do this. 2.3 is when you were able to auto sample I believe but if you are running 2.8 your good to go. The process is as I explained it in the video. I am very sorry I did not address this before.
J.G W so mybad man let me rephrase it you can auto sample in controller mode and in standalone but you would only want to auto sample your third party plugins so that you can have your different key groups in stand alone mode but you can also auto sample synths and out board gear as well and you can do that in controller or standalone mode. All the sound wave are recorded into your mpc so they are always with you. Hope this helps if you want to watch my other video about sampling outboard gear.

It’s not illegal if you plan on using your sample library from your vst to make beats only if you intend to sale them as expansion packs or what not. And you could sample your iPad vst if you could find away to midi it and plug audio output from the iPad to the mpc. It would be like sampling your external synths. I have a video on that too.

So you only see you computer screen when you go into controller mode.
