thanks. this video is great. Detailed info about the settings. I'm using the auto-sampler function on the MPC Renaissance to sample the sound of my MiniNova synthesizer.
It´s saved, i have a digitone, and tommorow a MPC live :-), he is on the way, thx for the tutorial, i think i Need Time for the mpc live but i think in 2 weeks, i can tested your Video, Thank you very much!
Young man, your tutorial can help us (all) to "hit the ground running". You took out almost (?)(maybe all!!) all the guesswork! Well done. It makes me wish that "all" video tutorials were done by walking us through each and every step, no matter how basic the step is!
Great video. Wished you sampled something other than a bass. Maybe something with a nice tail and some harmonics and higher notes. Thanks for showing the process though.
I’ve been doing a lot of pads with long tails (iOS Sugar Bytes Factory) .. Sometimes it’s best to do it by ear, quickly canceling the autosample and readjusting until it’s just right. After a little practice you start to get it on first or second try.
Can you globally change the Start/End/Loop information for ALL samples in a Keygroup Program? Including layers? It's hard when you, for instance, get a seamless loop going for one sample in a keygroup and want those settings applied to all samples. At 17:05 you go into sample edit, but this doesn't change the information for ALL samples in the program, just one.
Ravenking I will try this but typically it’s better to not use xfades for the multisamples I was trying. Ended up just looping each sample individually
@@MatthewStratton Matthew, I love that you're so polite and that your tutorials are so comprehensive. You're such a pro and a wonderful RUclips personality.
Thats great!! Somehow i wasnt able to update my mpc live.. it told me its running an old version and if i would like to update it and then it led me to the akai download page but only showed me the 2.2 version..
OH NO! This update is worth it to get! Did you sign into your account and check? You can get the download of the 2.3 firmware here, just find the version you need: www.akaipro.com/products/new-products/mpc-live
be sure to also download the firmware update (MPC2.3.0.UpdaterWin. or mac, it is very low on the downloads list in your account, not how it would have been logical, at the top of the list), then connect your live to your computer, go to menu/settings/info, and press shift and update, that, of course, after you ve unarchived and executed the computer based firmware update software. the mpc will restart in "update mode", then you can press the "update" button in the computer software, and wait until you get the message "done". the mpc will automatically restart, this time in the 2.3 version.
Hi Mathew I did exactly the same but autosample - samples some of the notes and it doesn’t sample the others from - waldord blofed. I have Akai force also same things happen there too. What can be the issue I wonder. Cheers.
Hi Matt, love your vids. Not sure if you can help me but I am looking to use the auto sampler to sample instruments from GarageBand and other DAW apps that I have on my phone. Is this possible? I have been sampling tracks and other things from my iPhone for a while (samples and things) but I want to sample an actual instrument to be able to use it in a key group, just not an external synth. Would appreciate any guidance you can give on this. Thanks.
Hey kind of a weird question... So I'm trying to autosample from a Yamaha keyboard. It definitely works just as you describe, but when I try to go to the next sound on the Yamaha keyboard to auto sample (for example, sound 1 is grand piano and sound 2 is violin) it doesnt change the sound being triggered by midi. Instead the only way to change the sound being triggered by midi is by changing the "program change," but even then it doesn't change sequentially (1,2,3,4....etc, in correlation to sounds 1,2,3,4 on the yamaha) but rather skips sounds in the Yamaha and triggers a sound many sounds further up the list (example: program change 2 triggering Yamaha sound 6). I know this is a complicated question, but I was hoping maybe it was some simple thing I'm just overlooking, with an easy solution you had already figured out in some way. Anyway, thanks for the tutorials, man. You're the best.
Yes, I am using balanced TRS cables. I am using this cable Dual 1/4" TRS to Dual 1/4" TRS Stereo Interconnect Cable from hosa. It is essentially two mono cables, one for each input.
Just wondering is there anyway of multisampling with one note using the mpc. I've an mpc live 2. This video was really useful but I'm struggling to find anything on multisampling one note. I'm not over familiar with keygroups. Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.
@@ZenMountain yes like the emulator 2 does and lots of the old rack mount samplers. It takes one note duplicates it over the keyboard and pitch changes/time stretches the original sample. Famous for creating unique sounds and used constantly by Depech mode. Junkie XL has a video on it.
Each keygroup within the keygroup program holds its own data. If you set 1 note per keygroup, then yes each note holds its own data. No, it is not simply a single edits page.
Hello Matt, i've got a problem with my MPC, i do exactly the same as you and i got the "Zeta bass-auto sampled" in the keygroup program and at 16'54 in your video you press menu and then "sample edit" and when i do that my mpc says "sample edit impossible in keygroup program ", do you this problem, or am I doing something wrong ? Thanks a lot and thank you for your videos too. Fred.
I'm not sure how this relates to the autosampler for external synths. I mean, you can sample your synth with the autosampler and put effects on the track with the keygroup on it. That way you can use effects on that track in real time. Or are you trying to bounce your tracks?
I think im trying to bounce them, possibly. I'll give it a try and hope that works out. Right now, I'm upset with purchasing this damn thing. No fx on tracks! No genuine sequencing editing capabilities,?! BIG fail on akai's behalf. The live is an overhyped, overpriced, undercapable looper
Well I am not here to tell you to keep using the live and that it is the greatest thing in the world. It's not for everyone, and you can always return it or sell it if you don't like it. I am simply trying to show you the function of the auto sample feature in this video.
Thanks so much Bro you got me out of a serious jam... One of my Sonivox goto String VST's can no longer be Authorized, but I had a copy of it on a old computer & am currently ripping it in Auto Sample.... So whoever gave you the thumbs down is a clown!!! Ha hahahahahaaaa Great Vid!!!👑✨👑
