  • This is the new qickjack 5000TL model just released, It replaces the BL-5000SLX. Very well made 78 pounds each side. This new model has new cylinders and more lift than the model it replaces.
    Download the latest manual. Don't use rely on the paper one that comes with it. Online version had better instructions.

      I don't see any reason to limit which side is which. I like to lift in both directions so I can close my garage door. For example, my Sentra has been on the lifts for 5 days. Doing an engine swap and can open and close garage. In the quick lift how to videos, I see them used in both directions.

    Is the automatic cam release to lower part of the new design? I can't find any info about the "new and improved" model other than a larger lift range

    • @NissanNut74
      @NissanNut74  2 года назад

      I think its the same. The automatic lower only works on the first click, not the second. So the highest setting requires you to push the bars up to lower.

    How much hydraulic fluid did it need? The instruction manual does say. Just says to fill the reservoir until the level is 1/2” from the top

    • @NissanNut74
      @NissanNut74  2 года назад

      I added 1 quart.

    • @RbNetEngr
      @RbNetEngr 2 года назад +1

      @@NissanNut74 Well, that depends on the control unit you have, but I suspect that only having one quart of fluid is not enough. It turns out that the control unit for the 5000TL model needs 2.1 quarts of fluid. I put two quarts in, and the level is sufficiently close to 1/2" from the top that I called it good. I put Mobil 1 ATF in there, and I wasn't going to spend another $12 for a third quart in order to add 3 more ounces of fluid.

    • @NissanNut74
      @NissanNut74  2 года назад

      @@RbNetEngr I used Valvoline ATF from a 1 gallon container. I had allot of leaks during the bleed test. So maybe I did more that 1 quart. Still working perfect with no more leaks. I have noticed you need to leave the bleed screw open to prevent the bottle from expanding and compressing.

    • @RbNetEngr
      @RbNetEngr 2 года назад +2

      @@NissanNut74 Thanks. In answer to my own question, I ended up putting two full quarts of fluid into the reservoir, including the bit that was lost during initial bleeding.
      And afterwards, while reading through the Owners Guide again, I actually found mention to needing two quarts of fluid. It was text at the bottom of a page, not shown in a table or a box, so it was easy to miss.

    Don't you have the frames backwards as well? There's the two surfaces that are parallel, one that touches the ground and one that touches the vehicle. Since the engine is the heaviest part, I believe the surface that touches the ground needs to be the one that's further forward - so it doesn't want to try to tip or work against the lifting force - since it is radial. I hope that makes sense.
    (In other words, I think you have the left frame on the right side of the vehicle, and the right frame on the left side).
    I don't think you need to upgrade, the weight rating is based on curb weight, not gross weight.

    • @NissanNut74
      @NissanNut74  2 года назад

      The instructions state the hose side should be outside. There is a sticker on where hose should route. I have lifted 4 different vehicles so far. 2 on a sloped driveway. I have lifted both directions. If I lift one way car goes out the garage and I cant close the door. If I lift the opposite direction its real close to my work bench. I have not lifted my electric LEAF yet (no engine). It does not matter where the heavy end is. These things are so stable. I may post a video used on my sloped driveway. Not sure if it exceeds the 3deg min per book. Yes I bought this model based on curb weight. I dont plan on owning another fullsize vehicle again. I once had an Armada, too big for my needs.
