Enzan Takeshita Roy actually has a really intricate combo game due to his low knockback moves. Unfortunately, the melee engine does not properly support this playstyle, hence why he's so weak to ccc-ing and you can live to otherwise impossible percents against him (and it's really easy for him to drop combos, especially with his shit sourspot). Basically, Roy either kills you at 40% or 200%. That beast of a side smash, though.

Without wobbling, ICs have hand-down the most disgustingly amazing combos, especially mixing in pivot grabs, platform shenanigans, and using that tech that lets you do different facing aerials and ground attacks at the same time.
If wobbling didn't work IC's would be the one of the most loved characters in the game for sure. It's a damn shame really, they're such a good character but wobbling overshadows their entire grab punish game = /

A great example is when Mango was playing Puff dittos and HBox missed a rest so Mango punished it by just jabbing him. However, Ganon doing something like dair into fair is not disrespectful. It's just his best option in the situation.

40% plus you get free follow ups off uthrow on most floaties. You can juggle them with uairs if they no DI or DI away, you can bair them if they try to DI behind. On some floaties you can get a free knee if you read their DI, but some characters have ways out of this. For example if Peach DIs away out of a dthrow she can air dodge to escape the knee follow up. In this event simply uair her. With Jigglypuff it's important to watch your spacing out of dthrow, as she can actually rest you if you go too deep.
marth and peach combos are my favorites, I like the robotic / chaingrab / 0 to deaths style that mew2king and armada have. And peach snipes are so swag.
Slight wait? Understanding the time it takes to cover tech in place and roll away means a dash dance grab works the same way run up wavedash does. It also allows you to reactively punish rolls
I love a good sheik combo that isn't just down throw ftilt fair because most of her moves have amazing applications to combo and lets you follow up the combos in so many different ways
Stomp is always worth it if you can land it because of the great follow-ups. I tend to opt for Side-B more often than I do Stomp in tech-chases, but I do love to Stomp through platforms and stomp roll-reads.

Roy, has the coolest combos. At the rare times they come out, they look awesome, mostly because of both the skill required, and the reads in between. For me, the most satisfying thing in the world is to see a Roy combo a fox, falco, or captain falcon to death.
Captain Falcon is difficult. Like I've been a Falcon main for almost two years and I feel like I haven't even progressed with him. Doesn't help that he's combo food for the whole Melee line up.

Not sure exactly what you mean by rendering but the C-stick can be used for SDI, buffering down throws, and buffering out-of-shield options (roll/spotdodge/jump), along with other basic actions like aerials and smash attacks.
A lot of great advice in this! I just started getting back into Melee after a few years and I'd like to hit my new area's tournament scene. How can you recognize what DI your opponent is using? Do you just have to play long enough to recognize where they would be going if they are NOT using DI?

Either is fine, just depends on what you’re more comfortable using. The timing on yoshis for drop zone knee is tight, practice and you’ll become a god

yeah basically. you can just test all the moves yourself tho, like with 2 controllers just have one DI certain ways until you understand it
