I like your tutorials best. They are short and concise. Straight to the point in a plain and simple manner. No BS like other videos. Nothing bothers me more than those videos that are just someone talking for 15 minutes just to explain a concept that takes 2 sentences to convey... SO IM TRYING TO SAY THANK YOU KIRA!!
what's amazing about this video (and this channel in general, really) is that this is helpful even when I'm a pm pit main. amazing work, props :) keep it up!
Uair vs ground enemies works pretty well. It's fast and powerful. Pretty much an instant attack. Ground Uair works really well when you need those extra frames or just to mix things up.
Love the videos dude. Could you do more Falco tutorials?? I've been playing tourneys with some friends and your videos are helping me do very well... Keep it up!
SSBM Tutorials Dash Dancing, Moonwalking, Stickywalking, Wavelanding, Wavedashing and applications for all these techniques will be very helpful. I feel like smashboards is a bad place for new falcon mains.
How about a small Pichu guide? Since it's a pretty simple character it might be not too hard to cover most of it's stuff and pointing out his strenghs and the advantages to Pikachu might make people accept him a little bit more.
I'd like to see a tutorial about punish game/ Tech chasing on spacies/falcon as Falcon, and dealing with shield pressure as Falcon. Also, how to edgeguard effectively as Falcon. Only because these are the areas I see Falcon players struggling the most. (Including myself sometimes)
btw I dont think that its true that up air is only effective when your opponent is above you. I think it can be even stronger when ur enemy is on the ground because you can time it so late that the animation can be barely seen before landing on the ground and this is what s2j is really good at. The other good reason why up air is so good is because you can scoop enemys up from the ground and prepare a combo with a followed up knee. still good video
Up air can hit standing opponents if performed frame perfectly. I haven't tested it on anyone but falco, however, so I don't know who it will hit and who it will miss.
Uair approaches aren't actually reliant on your opponent being above you. I know wizzrobe talks in one of his tutorials about instant uairs and delayed uairs in neutral.
How do you jab with Falcon without always leading into his spamming jab? Probably a bad question, but I just can't seem to only get his first little jabs out, even if I stop tapping A early.
It's actually pretty hard unless you're playing PAL version. What I do is press A > A > Z, and when you hit Z, also hit up on the control stick at the same time. I don't think this is the actual official way to do it but it works for me. Also note that it has to hit someone or hit someone's shield. Other people have other methods but this is mine
press a, press a again, press and hold z then immediately press a and then let go of both. it kinda feels like you are pressing z and a at the same time, like jump cancel grab. after practice i can do this with near perfect consistency. make sure all three hits connect on the opponent, otherwise it won't work. this is great for shield pressure.
What should i do if i hit someones shield with my knee? Ive noticed that i just get shield grabbed, and Im sure that theres something i can do to counter it.
+Foh Realsies m2k says that knee is +2 on shield if you hit it as close to the ground as possible, which means you should have enough time to grab them before their shield grab can grab you if you time the knee perfectly.
+SSBM Tutorials Knee is +1 on shield if you fall down fast enough, Wizzrobe talks about it in his tutorial for falcon. He says best options is to immediately go for a dair, grab, jab, or run away.
uhh falcons up air is not only good when they're above you, it works when your opponent is on ground as well, you just have to be precise and it can lead to a nice combo or kill, thought this was basic info tbh
+Re-l Mayer Falcon's up-air is good when they're above you, and when its on the ground it is only as a mixup. Instant up-air is designed specifically for scoops, not for winning neutral.
I really love roy and i know hes not a very viable character but the satisfaction i gain from his kills are second only to captain falcon. do a video on how to make a roy thats good enough to get his opponent down to at lest 2 stocks
+austenluego Roy is literally just a slow/weak version of marth. He only has down-tilt and side b The only way you can win is if you get a million downtilts with up airs. My recommendation is to play Marth since he is actually good and they have the same moveset(Just have to tipper instead of hilter). Marth also has way better combos and also has the highest skillcap in Melee.
if you know you can't dash back instantly because you have been running too long, the wavedash back. if you have been running only for a short time, dashdance back.
But how do you not get outspaced by marth's fair, nair, or tilts, bc it's disjointed, wouldn't it still out prioritize falcon, I don't need a video, just wondering
+Jeffrey Kurtz Until we get to it, start by using short hop nair between lasers to beat his aerials. Or jump over them and get around them with good platform movement. When he shield pressures, look for the basic mixup and use nair or grab to punish. IF you don't know the basic mixup look for "Falco Shield Pressure" tutorial on our channel
+SSBM Tutorials wow thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly you're awesome! What about on FD where there are no platforms. He locks down my reassurance game I'm not to sure how to open him up?
It starts up a little slowly but it comes out quickly, if that makes sense... It shifts his hurtbox in a way that's really hard to punish. This is opposite to stuff like Marth's fsmash or Link's grab which move the character forward before the attack comes out.
Uhh, isn't it called "nair" because you're pressing A in its neutral state? I'm pretty sure that's what it means. Pretty sure Ganon's nair isn't used for winning the neutral game.
+Plernatious Guess it was too deadpan for my autistic ass. Still, it seems weird to have a joke like that in a tutorial video designed to help your gameplay. Don't worry, I was aware of the double meaning, but it seemed out of place.

SO IM TRYING TO SAY THANK YOU KIRA!!
But what if we didn't already know it was you, Kira?
Hahaha
I chose to main captain falcon because he has an op ledge cancel taunt game.
+Thor 5173 PM?
yes why of course!
R.I.P. PM
Actually you cantt taunt cancel in 20XXTE too
+Thor 5173
You can Teeter Cancel (Edge Cancel) -> Taunt just fine in Melee
what's amazing about this video (and this channel in general, really) is that this is helpful even when I'm a pm pit main. amazing work, props :) keep it up!
Man, this is such a great video. As a Falcon main, I really appreciate it. More Falcon vids in the future, please! haha
This video was incredibly informative and articulated well. Thanks for making it!

Falcon movement guide?
Thanks my brutha! I will now show my Moves!!!
Falcon Movement please that would be amazing
xFalcon Any kind of movement in particular?
SSBM Tutorials Dash Dancing, Moonwalking, Stickywalking, Wavelanding, Wavedashing and applications for all these techniques will be very helpful. I feel like smashboards is a bad place for new falcon mains.
yeah smashboards is dead. aright ill put that in there, thanks man
+xFalcon i'm still waiting for scar to finish his lol.
yes please !
fantastic video. exactly what i was looking for thanks!

More falcon stuff! I'm really enjoying the content.
Luv u kira!! Even all this time later
This is incredibly helpful, thank you
I want to see tech chasing off of anything, reading get up options, that sort of thing
btw I dont think that its true that up air is only effective when your opponent is above you. Does this work on approaching people irl too
Up air can hit standing opponents if performed frame perfectly. I haven't tested it on anyone but falco, however, so I don't know who it will hit and who it will miss.
Uair approaches aren't actually reliant on your opponent being above you. I know wizzrobe talks in one of his tutorials about instant uairs and delayed uairs in neutral.
Hey, what are noob CFs common mistakes in neutral?
Elie4Elite stomp too much, side B too much
mostly just missing attacks though, need better control of your character
Also approaching with knee
Trying to style and getting bodied is the most common one
How do you jab with Falcon without always leading into his spamming jab? Probably a bad question, but I just can't seem to only get his first little jabs out, even if I stop tapping A early.

there should also be a smashboards post somewhere detailing it better but to be honest even i didnt fully understand it lol
AfrewSpines you can do: A A long press A to get the gentleman
press a, press a again, press and hold z then immediately press a and then let go of both. it kinda feels like you are pressing z and a at the same time, like jump cancel grab. after practice i can do this with near perfect consistency. make sure all three hits connect on the opponent, otherwise it won't work. this is great for shield pressure.
press a three times, and hold it when you do the third one. DON'T let go of a at all, you can dash away or jump or whatever while holding a.
What should i do if i hit someones shield with my knee? Ive noticed that i just get shield grabbed, and Im sure that theres something i can do to counter it.
+Foh Realsies You're doing the knee too high on their shield, hit lower then instantly do an action (jab, dash away, side b, nair, etc)
+Foh Realsies m2k says that knee is +2 on shield if you hit it as close to the ground as possible, which means you should have enough time to grab them before their shield grab can grab you if you time the knee perfectly.
it's +0
+SSBM Tutorials Knee is +1 on shield if you fall down fast enough, Wizzrobe talks about it in his tutorial for falcon. He says best options is to immediately go for a dair, grab, jab, or run away.
fantastic tutorial. Do some more falcon!
how to handle/approach Falco lasers as falcon?
Yes!!!
throw out the taunts!! i see, i like how you think
Only 1 man is capable of the FALCON punch
uhh falcons up air is not only good when they're above you, it works when your opponent is on ground as well, you just have to be precise and it can lead to a nice combo or kill, thought this was basic info tbh
+Re-l Mayer Falcon's up-air is good when they're above you, and when its on the ground it is only as a mixup.
Instant up-air is designed specifically for scoops, not for winning neutral.
I really love roy and i know hes not a very viable character but the satisfaction i gain from his kills are second only to captain falcon. do a video on how to make a roy thats good enough to get his opponent down to at lest 2 stocks
austenluego ruclips.net/video/FO2Q1KntjUA/видео.html
austenluego Your solution is to play Marth.
X0dus ...I hate marth
watch and learn

When should I use Wavedash Back instead of Dash Dance back?
if you know you can't dash back instantly because you have been running too long, the wavedash back. if you have been running only for a short time, dashdance back.
Are you going to be at the scrub fest tourney on march 5? I'd love to play friendlies. (:
+Korey Kline i dont know what this is
+SSBM Tutorials it's called Arcadian 3, I believe. You might be able to enter though, it's no ranked players so Nvm. ):
Only a coward performs run up shield.
+Austin Baker lol it is but it goes and works good with falcon. powershielding also helps.
*Proceeds to go 0-2 at locals*
Knee setups?
+stuna210 See our Falcon Practice Drills video
Pretty much anything
Knee sets up knee
But how do you not get outspaced by marth's fair, nair, or tilts, bc it's disjointed, wouldn't it still out prioritize falcon, I don't need a video, just wondering
+Ryan Sanders run up shield, crouch cancel grab, dash dance grab
I'm really noobish so I was wandering with the nair. How do you keep him so low to the ground
+JTproductionZz1 Short hop. Check our "how to learn melee" playlist
+SSBM Tutorials ok thanks
It's kira, I turned off Adblock for every one of these just for you.
maining falco but captain falcon will be a great secondary thanks
for marth?
comperance of pal and ntsc plz. :)
gentleman tutorial please.
How about try this: dash then short hop then falcon punch = Captain Falcon charging a falcon punch while flying through the air.
Falcon is bae
Falcon movement plzzz
Faaaaaaaalcoooooooooon.... PAWNCH!
a tutorial on the falcon vs falco matchup would be awesome. keep getting blown up lol.
+Jeffrey Kurtz Until we get to it, start by using short hop nair between lasers to beat his aerials. Or jump over them and get around them with good platform movement.

+Jeffrey Kurtz dashdance game* dumb phone
no fair ?
cool video
I disagree with "Bair is really quick"
+moraigna66 well it's fast for how good it is although it isnt the fastest
That's optimistic
kek
It starts up a little slowly but it comes out quickly, if that makes sense... It shifts his hurtbox in a way that's really hard to punish. This is opposite to stuff like Marth's fsmash or Link's grab which move the character forward before the attack comes out.
cf grab game guide
+RaMz Zues Lolm2k
Uhh, isn't it called "nair" because you're pressing A in its neutral state? I'm pretty sure that's what it means.
Pretty sure Ganon's nair isn't used for winning the neutral game.
+Logan “Ethereal” Corkum it's a joke. It's his neutral air, and because it's his best move in the neutral game, it's his NEUTRAL air.
+Plernatious Guess it was too deadpan for my autistic ass. Still, it seems weird to have a joke like that in a tutorial video designed to help your gameplay. Don't worry, I was aware of the double meaning, but it seemed out of place.
+Logan “Ethereal” Corkum
All the nairs are good in neutral for the most part.
not kirby's lulz
:)
