    Also 64 Falcon, 64 Falcon is a buffed falcon without a knee and upthrow/down throw. If I remember correctly his throws kill, his smash attacks kill earlier than falcon in melee, up b is a kill move/combo finisher and the Falcon Punch is ridiculously fast to come out in 64, you don't really want to challenge it. Add l-cancel to all this and ridiculous 0 to death combo and shield pressure... Hyes!

    64 Falcon would destroy melee falcon. Literally one grab and it's a touch of death. No DI can save you. One touch, one kill. Not even to mention how broken Z-cancels are compared to L-cancels. Also if Melee falcon would suffer 64 shield stun, it's not even a question.
    Though honestly I guess it really depends on where the crossover happens. Does the 64 character suffer 64 hitstun or melee hitstun when hit by a melee character? Same for shieldstun. What about DI?
    Melee falcon's neutral is probably better and his recovery is better, but assuming he has them in this scenario, you can't beat guaranteed one touch kills off of any hit.

    • @Tjerty
      @Tjerty 9 лет назад

      +QuagsireCrotchKick I think melee falcon would whoop 64 falcon to the moon. If 64 falcon has 64 smash mechanics, then that means his hit stun is going to last *forever* and that's just combo food for melee falcon. One hit into the air could possibly just lead to a full death combo. Not to mention how much faster melee falcon is. Actually I don't see a single point where 64 falcon would beat melee falcon, since melee falcon has melee mechanics and in turn would not have as long of his stun in the air, so his combos wouldn't work as well as they do in 64. So it's not unreasonable to believe that since 64 falcon's long hitstun would be the death of him.

    • @johnnycage2323
      @johnnycage2323 9 лет назад +2

      +TheTjerty There are a few things you did missed on 64 falcon. (1). 64 falcon has a zero to death combo, and since melee falcon has the highest gravity in the game, it'll work on him well. If he DI's out, there's a punish for it. (2.) Although 64 falcon gets a lot of hitstun, his l-cancels are instant, not half the frames. So he'll break melee falcon's shield and can extend his combos across the stage.(3.) 64 falcon can juggle melee falcon with his upsmash, and follow him up with down-smash, things melee falcon's cannot do.(4.) 64 falcon's "stomp" is a spike, not a meteor, which goes in the same direction as falco's dair, and has a lasting hitbox. Melee falcon will not come back from it after 45% likely.(5.) 64's forward smash and fair outrange melee's variants.(6.) 64's back throw can kill, and forward throw starts a combo always. It's impossible to get out of his grab too.(7.) 64's moves will always trade if both are in the air, so threats like dair and uair will hit airborne melee falcon who doesn't airdogde.Other than that, melee falcon wins in most other categories, like recovery and movement options. It's confusing trying to wonder whether who'd have more priority lol

    I think the biggest thing people forget in cross-title matchups is the hitstun/knockback mechanics. It is decided by the move itself first and the recipient's weight/damage second. ie: 64 Falcon doesn't "receive" 64 hitstun, so much as whatever hitstun the move he gets hit by deals, and vice-versa. DI is a more ambiguous one, but I believe this is also decided by the move itself.
    For example, any combos that 64 falcon can perform on fast fallers in 64 remain true against Melee Falcon, and Melee Falcon will still need to read the DI for a combo like Stomp > Knee to hit.

  • @m0002856

    I love Smash 64 but Falcon in that game is super lame. He has one combo that's incredibly easy to pull off. You just spam up air and then finish with either a dair, up B or Falcon punch.
    Melee Falcon on the other hand is a beast. He's got a great sense of speed, has the coolest combos and can MOONWALK. Case closed.

  • @ShadowStitchPlays
    @ShadowStitchPlays 9 лет назад +4

    Damn that's a tricky one. Melee falcon has significantly better raw finishers but 64 falcon as near unbreakable combos. Melee falcon already has hard times getting out of juggles from the likes of Marth which i think would ultimately give 64 falcon the win here. Not even to mention if 64 doesn't just get all 0-death juggle combos 64 falcon has amazing edge guards with just reverse up-air. I don't think it would be pure domination since melee falcon still can juggle and end with knee easily but i don't think it would be enough.
    All in all 64 falcon takes it!

    • @raize7209
      @raize7209 9 лет назад

      +HydreigonMaster635 My interpretation of the Mechanics stuff is that 64 falcon would take more hitstun than Melee Falcon, which is basically the reason 64 is a 0-to-death farm. If characters had less hitstun the 64 0-deaths would be really rare.

  • @MasterMar3600
    @MasterMar3600 9 лет назад +2

    Melee Falcon would win. His added mobility over 64 would give him the advantage in neutral. His shield pressure, combined with the insanely long shield stun in 64, would make nearly all of his moves safe of shield, and could probably lead into a shield break.
    64 Falcon won't be able to pressure shield nearly as well because Melee's shield doesn't have anywhere near the amount of shield stun 64 has. 64 would probably be able to get his crazy zero to death combos on Melee Falcon, but Melee Falcon should never lose neutral as he is faster in every way.
    Overall, Melee Falcon has the better neutral and shield pressure, while 64 Falcon has better combos.
    Melee wins.

      @matheusvasiliauskassoares4361 9 лет назад

      Actually no, the hitstun inquestion in 64, meaning that Falcon melee physics wont be a factor, same with shieldstun

    • @cerealkilla34
      @cerealkilla34 9 лет назад +1

      (It said melee mechanics actually), I mean that's the misunderstanding people have been having; the argument is whether 64 moves cause 64 or melee reactions. If it's melee then CF can escape, if it's 64 no. I interpret as because Melee Falcon has Melee Falcon's mechanics/physics, so DI and meteor cancelling absolutely would be a thing. If you interpret it the other way, no biggie. That's really the deciding factor in my opinion. If melee CF can escape combos then his movement advantage should secure him the win.

    Question on the wars of characters in different games: When a character has "Smash 64 mechanics" or "brawl mechanics" or whatever, does that mean that their combo game carries over, or the hitstun they experience in their own game carries over? I saw people saying that fox wouldn't be able to touch metaknight because MK doesn't experience hitstun, but that MK could destroy fox because fox would be just as combo-able as he was in melee. In this one I think 64 Falcon loses badly if he experiences smash 64 hitstun but has a chance of winning if he has his 64 combo game instead.

    Another tip for people that don't have 20XX. If you wanna practice your timing on airials and L-cancel, you could always set handicap ON and launch rate at 0.5x. Play against bowser, and put his handicap on 9 and your own at 1. That way you can use bowser as a punching bag so you know the timing on your moves when they connect.

    Bro easy answer. Melee falcon would win by a landslide. n64 falcon has limited tech, and movement options compared to melee falcon. The shield has a bunch of stun, making him more prone to pressure, and the knee really just beats all. The only thing I can think of is that n64 falcon has that craazy DI mechanic, where you can DI into the stage. Not as feasible in melee. And of course while both recovery suck, n64 recoveries are exceptionally bad in general.

    captain falcon's nair should not be your most used aerial, the first hit trades badly with everything, the second hit is the only one worth anything. for that reason you shouldn't SHFFL as fast as you can, because you're missing that meaty second hit. instant up air is a much better choice in like 95% of close range encounters. good OOS option too.

    I'm also curious, especially with the last one being brawl MK and melee Fox, the hitstun is determined by who is hitting or who is being hitted? Say N64 Falcon gets a hit, Melee Falcon would have N64 or Melee hitstun? And if Melee Falcon comes up with a nair or knee and N64 Falcon shields it, how long would N64 shield stun would be? Depending on how this answers would come up it could go either way. Either way, my vote on melee Falcon

    tough, you could say falcon 64, because his moves have high hitstun on his opponents, his combos are simple and effective, his normal moves have more knockback, his dair is a true spike, his falcon punch can actually be used for horizontal recovery. you could also say melee falcon, bc his grabs have more options, he has the knee, his falcon kick resets his jump, his combos lead to consistent zero to death/low % to death, plus his sick style😏. i'd bet my vote on n64 falcon, just more overall powerful and guaranteed with an op stomp, though melee falcon is very fun to watch.

      I'll definitely check, but I remember just thinking "the knee won't come out fast enough/I can't jump out fast enough I don't get why it won't" is there any kind of quirk like how for Marth triple fair you want to jump with the joy stick?

    • @SSBMTutorials
      @SSBMTutorials  8 лет назад

      lots of people have their own "quirks", there is no trick to it other than pressing A the moment you walk off the ledge.
      With Marth you don't have to jump with the joy stick, most people don't do it that way. 99% of techniques in this game are personal preference and there is no 'best' way to do anything

    Even though PewPewU covered a lot of Marth practice drills, I'd really like your insights on those. Maybe only as a comment reply? That'd be great :)
    Also, great video, makes me want to practice a bit Falcon as I'm quite awful with it with the exception of Knee hard reads.

      +Mathieu Amiot Very great but didn't go over all of the techniques needed. However what he did go over was done very well imo. I use his routine once in awhile to keep things fresh but a lot of people I know usually work on new things

    Can you do one of this with mid-low tiers? like Link, YLink, Mewtwo, Ganon, etc. I know top tiers are the meta but I think you can mix it up time to time :)

    Depending on the stage 64 falcon would destroy melee falcon because what is hitlag? But if the stage is FD i wouldnt have a clue, not sure on what 64 neutral is like

    When you're using nair for comboing, you don't fast fall it so that the second hit connects, right? My problem is that I always fastfall it and only get the weak hit.

    • @jimmymcsweeney
      @jimmymcsweeney 8 лет назад

      I'm really late, but yes, you fast fall it. If the second hit doesn't come out, you're not inputting the nair fast enough after the short hop.

    How do I know if I get a perfect wavedash? how would i perform one? A more precise angle on the stick?

    • @r0flcopter
      @r0flcopter 9 лет назад

      +kapzillion1997 This is a great question. Both by having a perfect angle on the stick and by Airdodging as soon as jump squat ends (which for falcon would be after 4 frames). It's somewhat tough to tell if you aren't doing frame-by-frame but if you watch the video I do some that are pretty close if not perfect so you can go off of that

    Melee Falcon would just end up running circles around 64 falcon. EZ win for Melee Falcon.

    • @green8923

      SSBM Tutorials oh, so its better to start the move when you're opponent is in the hit box rather than slightly ahead of time.

    • @SSBMTutorials
      @SSBMTutorials  8 лет назад

      Well, it's not instant, but there is a timing to it. If you didn't get the strong hit of the knee then you probably hit them too late

    does nair on shield beat shieldgrab? 2:46
    does it depend on character? i tried it against marth on 20xx 3.02 and i got grabbed everytime unless i didn't fastfall until after the second hit. what is the science here?

    • @SSBMTutorials
      @SSBMTutorials  7 лет назад

      not by itself exactly, thats just because the cpu there tried to grab between the 1st and 2nd hit of nair.

    Considering how 64 Falcon doesn't have access to the same DI as Melee Falcon, both can punish each other close to the same, and Melee Falcon has better movement. Melee Falcon wins.
