The most validating part about rebirth is after my first Sleepezi video I followed his every word religiously and when it’s all said and done- he was right about everything. Sleepezi, I firmly believe you have the best understanding of FFVII and I thank you so much for your help making this journey mean so much more

@@salmark9080 The devs mentioned there are currently four Sephiroths in this game; The one in Cloud’s head, The one at the Northern Crater, and the ones that can manifest from Jenova/Black Robes. The fourth they have mentioned as unknown, and I’m pretty sure that is Sephiroth from Advent Children/OG FF7. His inability to return to the life stream probably gave him some agency over it and figured out how to time travel. Once Destiny was destroyed he got pretty OP. Not as OP as Aerith though, she’s on a whole nother’ level
I 100% agree about “Return”. Fulfills every criteria: right word length, also works as a synonym / meta title for a redux of the story, hefty meaning within the story.
I was thinking Reunion cause every character mentioned it FF7:Reunion?

@PenguinsAreColdish my first video I watched to his was the sequel. "Vessel to Rebirth" which gets deeper into those concepts. But I am looking at new reunion now. It's great.
@@sloppyjoe2687 Sleepezi figured out that there are two whispers, one working for Sephiroth and wanting to release Meteor, the other working with Aerith. He also figured out that it was going to be heavily related to the story of "Loveless" and Cristis Core.

Everything seems to be from books or outside of the game sources.
Which to me is kinder just the writer adding and adding and adding details that he forgot to explain in the actual game.
I know you say its connects to crisis core but which bits in this video do that? and what way do you mean it connects to loveless. You mean it parallels and echos ideas that can be used for many meanings and then square decides which meaning is right. Since everything is cryptic and vague. Symbolic.

It relate to loveless with genesis it could relate to the promise made by red 13 and the gi. The promise of jenova or something or someone coming back etc from the original trailer.
@@sloppyjoe2687 You could say his videos are theory crafting. But more so than anyone else, he looks for what the writers intent is with the story. In one of his videos he says that the remake trillogy is a culmination of ideas that were only touched upon in the original. In short when you break it down all the complexity of the game that everyone is freaking out on just boils it down to a few simple concepts: Life, death, rebirth and what it means to be human.
Now I'm thinking Remake Cloud really was talking to a future Cloud from a different world when Remake Cloud fell in to the church in part 1. 😅

Final Fantasy 7 has been a deep love and fixation fir me since the original game released.
I truly believe you understand this universe and it's characters better than most. Even decades-experienced fans, myself included. Nostalgia can blind you to what's been right there under your nose.
I'm about 20 hours into Rebirth, and I'm very interested to see how all your videos and commentary stack up to what this installment holds.

Yes !! Omg finally an analysis that’s not reductive towards aeriths relevance as a serious nemesis to sephiroth and not just a flimsy manic pixie alternative to tifa ! I’ve seen many interpretations where Zack is given credit for stuff she does. There's a lot in this video I'm not sure about, but as always you bring up some really interesting stuff I never noticed. Specifically the stuff from Leslie's quest.

I did just play through that section with Leslie, and even there, this thing about dreams and waking are reiterated. She says, "it was all just a dream," and "time to wake up, and forget."

There are tons of hints that choices matter.
Zack, loveless, Cait Sith's readings (LIKE COME ON), Queen's blood (actually spoils what will happen), the rainbow motif...
Cloud is taken to a different universe. Brings back a white materia that should not exist in his world anymore.
He's the only one that goes through the wall of fate. The rest of the party only move after the fate breaking decision by Cloud happens. Before they go through it Cloud is inside a rainbow motif circle holding aerith. This means he's inside a world changing event. After the wall of fate disappears, so does the rainbow circle.
In remake, going through the wall of fate changed Zack's fate. In rebirth it changed Aerith's. In the next game it'll change Cloud's.
Loveless is a story about events that parallel the ones of FF7 story. One hero dies before the start of journey (zack). Another during it (aerith). The other becomes a prisoner (cloud). Cloud is a prisoner of his guilt and lack of self confidence. The only way to change cloud's fate is to prevent what causes him to become a prisoner to his mind. To change the events of Nibelheim. Doing this also defeats Sephiroth as the only way he can manifest is through Cloud's memories of him which are related to his negative feelings.
My take is that the hollow materia cloud has at the end of rebirth will contain his memories and experience and find it's way to Cloud before Nibelheim, preventing it's events and saving Sephiroth (forgiveness is a theme in rebirth).
Also queen's blood teases what will happen in the next game.
Regina is Cloud, Lidehl is Sephiroth, The witch is Aerith and the Queen is Jenova.
Jenova will betray Sephiroth
So Cloud will forgive Sephiroth and the last enemy is Jenova?

Wow, this is very insightful. You packed a lot into 30 minutes! With the reveal that the discs are also on black and white and your talk about the use of the color, I'm assuming each world represents one (and is the Universe of Life/Death mentioned in the Ultimania). I wonder if they go even further though and the Black Materia is the focus of the main party's story while Zack focuses on Holy, since both are kind of under explained in the original.
One thing not quite tied to any concept in your video I wanted to throw out from a recent replay of Remake: in the vision Cloud has during the Shinra Ancients propaganda video, Tifa appears to die and then vanishes in a purple light. Barrett appears to die, but does not vanish at all. Sephiroth then teleports away...in the same purple light as Tifa. I think it's worth paying attention to going into Rebirth.
My initial thought was return. Or revival. Love your analysis.

I didn't watch this on release because I was avoiding the spoilers, but I'm glad I was pretty much thinking along the same lines as here going into Rebirth. I've got a lot of theories now post-Rebirth and I think the game turned me into a shipper but it was a fun time; worth the 4 year wait.
This also makes sense when it comes to JRPG's in general. If there is a white there is a black, if there is a gold then there is usually a silver. Dualities in all things typically exist in every JRPG made to some extent.

Basically, when Cloud deflects Sephiroth's attempt to kill Aerith, the rainbow effect spreads around the whole area of the altar, creating a circle with rainbow colors, indicating (perhaps?) a new timeline having been created.
Once the whispers leave and a short lifestream flash happens, we see Sephiroth pull his sword from Aerith's body. Strangely, no matter if we see scenes of a living or a dead Aerith, the rainbow effects around the altar remain, even when we see the classic death scene happening with the white materia rolling away towards the water.
I don't know that to make of this because I was assuming that the rainbow effect woud go away once we see Aerith stabbed. No matter which perspective we are seeing, the rainbow effect remains, not only when we see things through Cloud's eyes.

I feel like these new timelines are implied to be fractures of one original timeline, like pieces breaking off of Gaia's crystal, so to speak. This is different from other multiverses in fiction where timelines multiply in contrast.
This is important distinction, because it tells us that Gaia timelines are increasingly unstable.
Sephiroth has created a "Reunion" that is both dangerous and necessary.
sephiroth final words in advent children : "i'll never be memories".

Has anyone figured out what the hell the clocks importance is there are three very particular scenes with clocks that i dont feel are there just out of coincidence.

you mean in chapter 13 when the switch back and forth between Aerith and Cloud's party?. It's more ties to "Loveless'. The entire play is metaphor on top of metaphor for the story. Alphied and Rosa's story being destined to meet a tragic end from meeting in a chance encounter (ties to Cloud and Aerith). Varvados calling alphried nothing but a puppet (Sephiroth and Cloud). The clock signifying time, life death and rebirth, the balance of fate. It's pretty much signifying fates role in the narrative.

How many timeline you think we are having. I think we are having 3 main timeline although we seen a few more in Rebirth. We will focus on 2 for part 3.
1 - ff7 og
2 - ff7 remake aerith die
3 - ff7 remake aerith live
4 - zack timeline where he meet hojo
5 - zack timeline where he went to save biggs
In rebirth, there is this ideas of entities reuniting that were once separate... And after reuniting they transfor!m into something new, not just the sum of the parts. Transformed /reborn into something unknown.
I think the timelines will be like that. However many different timelines, they will combine and transform into a final, unrecognizable one
Will the final timeline hold all the memories of many pasts? Or will it forget, losing the moments, memories, and bonds of its history? Only part III will tell...
So what are your thoughts now that the devs have confirmed at least 6 worlds, which mostly likely means there are 7?
