One thing regarding Genesis that I found no one pointed out, it's the apple juice posters in Remake. The apple juice poster is a very important detail, because it shows that Banora is still existing in Remake (not bombed into smithereens like in CC). And the fact that it is "apple juice" not just "apple" is a clear indication that Genesis is around, because the apple juice is a signature invention of Genesis, as stated in CC, he was awarded for inventing it.
YES! I forgot that I should bring it up in this video! I go over a lot of Genesis and banora apples in my other series of videos and do mention that! I am so glad that you noticed that detail too though!
@@Sleepezi Actually, Banora's Underground is a very impressive area. I think you have dug it up in Crisis Core, because fighting a Behemoth there is fun. However, I think you could have missed one important detail, the doors and their keys. The Banora's Underground dungeon is like a prison dungeons with many doors and you need to get the key. One specific door, the one that you can reach after beating the Behemoth, needs to be opened with the "Goddess Wing Key". And the symbol on that door is very much similar to Genesis' wing (it is a left wing with the exact same shape). This could indicate that Genesis' wing is called as "Goddess Wing" for real, which for sure shows that Genesis is more than just a Sephiroth-wannabe.
@@BuffaloBorgine FFRK (a FF mobile spinoff) makes a funny distinction between the two. Sephiroth is presented as an unambiguous villain ("deep hatred for humanity", "plans to destroy the planet", skill names like "Heartless Angel", "Demonic Lord", "Jenova's Echo" etc., Genesis is much more ambiguous. His descriptions are all about his friendships, SOLDIER (he's described as a "rebel" SOLDIER, not a fallen one like Sephiroth) and weird semi-religious stuff ("Epic of Creation", "Epic of Destruction", "Epic of Heroism"). I've seen somebody call him "the born-again Christian of the FFVII world", which is surprisingly on point. _Do you have a moment to talk about our Lady and Savior Goddess Minerva?_
@@saikeenra Oh hello fellow FFRK player. Glad that someone brings it out. In FFRK, Genesis's soulbreaks are more restricted because it seems like SE doesn't want to release too much while Sephiroth's Soulbreaks are actually existing moves in FFVII. I am mostly interested in the Record/Legend Materia of Genesis in RK, because Sephiroth's Materias are well-known trait of him though. Genesis has some very ambiguous description through the materias, like "Twister Creator" ("Distorted Creator" in JP), "G-project Creation" ("G-cells Harborer" in JP") and some more ambiguous things. If you want we can talk more in Tumblr, Twitter or Facebook (just search me by the same RUclips name haha)
Agreed. A lot of it is criminally underrated and even some of the stuff that didnt mesh well is getting a fresh new coat of paint and being integrated into remake cohesively.
@Nobody the compilation stuff their putting in the game is literally just references and Easter eggs just like what they did with Kunsel in part 1 remake. People are just overreacting with these theory crafting videos because of some bullshit they wanna see and it's very misleading. It's very weird actually so it's easier to just let these people have their moment and get disappointed.
@@aaronhathorn3451 I dont know if the word you could use is an easter egg when the characters are actually showing up like they are. banora apples can be seen as a nod. Weiss himself showing up and the others isnt an easter egg. thats inclusion of those characters. Everything so far seems to have an awareness and utility in the story so far like they thought about it and are implementing it into the story, rather than just a nod.
Remake is going to tell the story they had planned to tell after DoC and I couldn't be happier-- the final missing act of Loveless. What a time to be alive. Thanks so much for your hard work! You need a nice long vacation.
@@Sleepezi Indeed-- right after watching your vid, I went to bed and got up 3 hours later for the trailer and haven't slept since. But thank Gaia it's the weekend. Keep up the good work, man. And of course-- had to revisit your reaction.
Well no joke: You helped make it possible. You went above and beyond to help me out and I can only say I genuinely appreciate it. on top of that its always too much fun to talk over this stuff with you Mo. It also means so much to see you had enjoyed this so much. what I am trying to say to you is krispy kreme awaits us.
I was confused about how u managed to pull together a 3 hr vid so soon after the latest trailer dropped, but then I realized this is BEFORE and ur just prescient about all things FFVIIR. Ur one of the few ppl who called the compilation’s importance from the start and it’s so satisfying seeing your theories get corroborated by every content drop from the devs.
RUclips decided to delete my comment for some reason, so I'll say it again. One of the best theory videos I've ever watched. Mind-blowing stuff with Rufus and all the tie-ins you figured out. Absolutely amazing!
I can hardly find the words, I'm just flabbergasted. How you connect various hints from all the different sources (whole games from the compilation or even just a background scene from a small trailer) and dive deep into the complex story and in doing so, yet you're still giving the impression that everything is so clear. You explain the whole thing so unambiguously in a well-edited video - it's just overwhelming! And yet it almost seems as if this was easy for you xD Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us and not going crazy!
@@Sleepezi I like this idea that Remake might be trying to give closure to the compilation games while retelling/re-experiencing the original story (at least according to your previous theories of the main story not deviating too far). I hope they do it properly and successfully, despite the fact that I'm in this train until the end, whether it arrives to its destination safely or ends up crashing and burning in a glorious fire hahaha.
Just wanted to add about Rufus and his sudden tension with Heidegger, the scene where it zooms in to Rufus sitting on the presidents chair and he looks PISSED off... (lips curl) could further implicate Rufus being scared of being found out
Just wow, my love for this universe grows stronger than I ever would have think possible with each of your videos. I can't imagine how much work you've just accomplished to present all of these crazy and complex informations in very logical and easy way to understand. I can't express how much I'm gratefull for all your work, thank you so much for what you're doing for the community (now please take some rest, you really deserve it)
I will now recede back into my cave. Lol But very much I appreciate what you are saying. I get very worried that these videos are hard to follow, but knowing that it is conveyed well is the single most important thing. I love hearing that it makes this all a much more engaging experience for you, and truly I appreciate you taking the time to watch and tell me about how much this means. Because it means a lot to me. Thank you.
@@nyxurich8959 His appearance has been used several times in recent history. The idea that he isn't in good standing with Square isn't necessarily confirmed. BUT if there is anything of that sort, yes. I can see them easily remaking the image of Genesis to something new.
I just want to say, this is my favorite video of yours. Not to disparage any of your other videos, I think quite highly of all of them so this one being my favorite is intended to be high-praise as opposed to criticism of the others. The reason for that is how you educated me on the obscure lore. I feel like I am overtly familiar with the lore in OG and Crisis Core. Before Crisis, Dirge and it’s multiplayer mode…that’s where you peak my interest. Your ability to sell the importance of that lore, and theorize around reasonably ingratiating the currently outstanding compilation concepts into the new RE trilogy is something I can listen to over and over.
2:25:33 Rufus and Heidigger never liked each other in the OG. There are many times where Heidigger tries to do things the way he always does and is overruled by Rufus. He becomes extremely frustrated and takes it out on his staff, literally beating people up.
That moment when you realize Heidegger is voiced by John DiMaggio aka Bender. I can just see Heidegger saying "I'm gonna build my own Shinra Electric Company. With Hookers and Blackjack."
What an awesome way to spend three hours - incredible work!! Thank you so much for your dedication (and for the Genesis excitement!). Happy anniversary!
I am so glad that the watch was worth it! and thank YOU for making this first year on youtube so incredible. really its undeniably been some of the best moments ever!
When sleepezi points out the parallels between the particles in before crisis, remake, and doc and then also points out the similar way that weiss picks genesis up in crisis core compared to genesis picking up weiss in doc.. my head is still tingling.. I know this is so late but I loove this man when he is theorizing
Thanks again, Sleepezi. I was always confused over why Prez Shinra was left hanging off the side instead of being killed outright. People have guessed that it was Sephiroth, but I doubted it. It doesn't make sense for Seph to leave the guy hanging, only to kill him for real moments later. If the writers only wanted to show how Seph is the real big bad, they could have had Prez killed the same way as in the OG, but they changed this scene entirely. So I figured that Rufus probably had something to do with it, but I couldn't connect the dots until now. It only makes sense that other Avalanche members were there at HQ for Wedge to contact them. Like, how else would he have done so, call them? With what number? It does beg the question: if these Main Avalanche guys were there to assassinate the Prez, why would they leave him hanging? My only guess is that they tried to kill him, but Prez suspected something was up and tried to escape. Too bad he somehow bungled his way out and ended up like that. The Avalanche guys didn't bother to help him back up and left. Kinda sloppy job on their part, but they didn't expect anyone else to be there anyway. And then came along Barret's gang to ruin Rufus' plans yet again. Tangent, but this would make an amazing Ace Attorney case to solve if only the actual murderer wasn't in your face 24/7, _Sephiroth_ ! Anyway, I also remembered Rufus' plan here is also hinted during his line to Cloud about how he "owns" him. Even when Cloud denied it because he's "Ex-Soldier", Rufus smirked to himself, knowing that since Cloud is a part of Avalanche now, nothing changed. He still does own him. At least until Cloud slapped him around with his sword and killed his dog. Poor Dark Star. He just wanted treats and head pats after the fight. :( But I guess Rufus wasn't too broken up about him. He still has his new pet Cloud.
I SUPER appreciate that. I am always delighted to see you guys so motivated to get this stuff out there to other people. its extremely touching. Thank you thank you thank you!
Bro, how the FUCK do you do this?!? I’ve watched all your vids and it’s just amazing how well you’re able to put specific pieces together. A lot of this shit would go right above my head. Mad props to you.
I really appreciate the fact that you enjoyed all of the videos so far! the enthusiasm is genuinely infectious! I love just being able to talk about it all with you! Thank you for all the kind words, really!
@@Sleepezi you’re welcome man!!! I love the fact that you’re so enveloped in the Remake and it’s story. I really like it a lot too, so it’s nice to see you talk about your thoughts of where it’s going! You’re doing great!!! 😃😄🎉
Agreed. This boy is a freakin' genius to tie all these things together. This man could be a private detective because no detail would get past him. No wonder it took Square Enix so long to release FF7 Remake & Intergrade since the last major FF7 release, because all these things had to interweave & fit perfectly. I am glad they took their time to get it right. The writing & story-boarding had to be so intentional & precise to give love & attention & respect to all these previous stories, to fit them all in. And even though they have so much going on, it is awesome to see how much time they gave to the original intention of the creator for Cloud & Aerith's epic love story, with Tifa created as a side character later on because they needed a female character that didn't die. Don't get me wrong, I love Tifa too, but Remake was so much a story about Aerith as an Ancient, just meshing perfectly with Cloud's path, it was so refreshing to see how much time & effort they gave the two of them in building that beautiful relationship. And since Fate &/or Destiny has been 'defeated', all bets are off now for new timelines so there is a chance that Aerith might survive this time! Even Sephiroth asked Cloud what he was going to do this time around with his "7 seconds," which is the exact time it took for him last time to descend & stab Aerith. So even Sephiroth seems to know how things happened last time, & is curious how things will turn out in this timeline. Now that Intergrade is out, obviously all the things predicted in this video didn't happen, but SO MUCH that was predicted did happen, which is just mind blowing. My guess is that those events will be in the next few releases, just because they can't put everything in one game -- it would be too much & each character would feel rushed & cheated if you only get them for a few seconds in a cameo. Better to spend more time with fewer characters, per release. Very happy with what Square Enix is doing & can't wait to see what they do in the future. :-)
Disclaimer: After watching the "New Official Trialer". We later find out that Sonon's actual sister is named Melfie or Melphie (Which ever you prefer to spell her name) and not/instead of Shelke Rui. I find that Melphie totally looks identical to Yuffie as if they were twin sisters imo...
As someone pointed out in another video, Melphie looks a bit like a cross between Tifa and Yuffie. Would be interesting if she and Yuffie were cousins or something, though.
Dude, I've been living under a rock. I dunno how I could have spent all this time hungry for FF7 content and just never found your channel. It took me a whole year to finally get here but here I am. So you may not have guessed everything completely correct here, but I think you actually reached beyond what you expected and actually guessed what Rebirth may be giving us way ahead of that trailer. If nothing else, here's one for you. On the very day before Crisis Core Reunion, you got me actually excited to see Genesis.
The way you connect all these dots and bring this story to life is mind blowing. FF7 is my favorite game of all time and I absolutely loved remake. You’ve somehow managed to make me even more excited for Intergrade as well as the next installment. Amazing.
Love the level of detail Sleepezi puts into every video! I've been a fan since FF7 came out in 1997 and the amount of lore that is showcased in this as well as past videos has me blown away. Keep it up, amazing work.
40:18 "He is now in control of Shinra, AVALANCHE and now in Remake is directly tied to Wutai. This man literally has control over all of the major players of any conflict..." Rufus Shinra is the Littlefinger/Petyr Baelish of Final Fantasy VII's world!
@Aaron9 I mean what does Rufus really do in the OG that his father wouldn’t have done? He just takes his position but literally any character could replace rufus in that game and it be no different as we get 0 backstory or development for him at all whether that was due to things being cut because of the games scope is uncertain but what we got felt inconsequential for the most part. Having him so involved and manipulating everything in the way remake is showing him to be makes him an actual interesting character this time around
I'm so hype for what Square is trying to do with the ff7 storyline. Although it wasn't perfect, I really liked what they were trying to do with Remake part 1 expanding on the midgar arc and making a lot of the more underdeveloped characters really seem complex and interesting. Excited to see more backstory of the new ff7 world they're trying to build.
Sleepezi after going through Intergrade and than watching this video start to finish I’d just like to say......... God damn dude!! You were so spot on with about 98% accuracy on what we saw in Intergrade and you’ve got me 1000 times more excited for what’s to come with Remakes story from here on out than I already was. You’ve got my sub and will be the first RUclipsr I will be investing in via Patreon as soon as payday rolls around 🤘. Thank you so much for your content, that really was a pleasure to watch and thanks to BabySealTeam VII I’ll be looking into your stuff as well! Damn good stuff guys!! Well Played!! 😊💯
Unpopular opinion, but Dirge was my first introduction to FFVII, and became my favorite game in the series, though I I enjoy playing the original FFVII more. But, I will say Dirge has some JANKY controls XD Seeing Nero and Weiss make their returns got me unreasonably excited. I just hope that, if they retell that story, that Vincent is still the main focus of that story.
Fantastic video Sleepezi, everything you pointed out is very interesting and I agree 100% that the Avalanche HQ members are the same people Barret mentions. As you know I'm not a fan of the characters in CC/Dirge but with how remake handles characters I'm very excited to see all of these characters have a second chance at becoming fan favorites. I remember reading that sector 6 plate fall being related to Zirconiade but as I never played BC I just assumed that was real, so glad we got some clarification lol! It was really cool to hear about the Dirge multiplayer story for the first time and I'm excited to see Shelkes involvment in Remake in regards to Chadley ;) The audio mix was better in this video but still had some rough spots mainly when the hype music came on as you mentioned Genesis. Can't wait to see what you got cooking next and looking forward to the rest of your FF7 playthrough
Wow, just... WOW!! Duuuuuuude, you've really gone above and beyond with this video. I really hope a lot of what you have theorised, does come to some fruition. How cool would it be if all the members of Deepground appeared together at the end of Intermission, kinda mirroring the Shinra lieutenants standing in front of Rufus, as he takes his seat as the new President. I'm so excited, now more than ever!
@@Sleepezi it's like how George Lucas talks about putting things in rhymes hoping all the Coloured Tsviets make an appearance. Same thing with Zirconiade, the Harbinger and the end of Dirge too, taking Shalua into account. I'm so so excited!! 🤞😄
So found this video while playing Rebirth, and have now finished Rebirth, and I really enjoy this video. On the specifics, you're wrong on SO MUCH of Intermission, though I think conceptually you're still quite spot on pretty much the whole way through. And I really like that you're able to make such a thought out video and the devs are able to connect all these things in fairly different ways than you speculate. I've only played OG FF7 and Remake/Intergrade/Rebirth so a whole lot of this information is new to me (I know Shelke from FFRK but yeah never played Dirge) so it was a very informative video, regardless of speculative accuracy. Just wish I had 3~ hour videos for pre-Rebirth and one for post-Rebirth!
I feel very attached to the before crisis lore, and really attached to the direction they took Rufus’s character along with it in rebirth! If your into pre rebirth convo, vessel of rebirth or final page. Next video tbh. :)
@@Sleepezi I'll certainly get into it. But I technically bought Crisis Core a few months back and never played it before Rebirth, which was probably dumb as it would've made the final battle even more exciting. I'm entirely theorycrafting starved as I'm back to being consumed by the game as if I'm 12 again, and I watched Maximilian beat the game last night but I think some major parts of his theorycrafting (which I also see bits of on the subreddit) are wrong, or at least unlikely. And without putting much spoiler in there, I don't like even the concept of "OmniAerith" or "ultimate Aerith". I don't think she's that strong, she just has a few tricks. I don't like the theorycrafting going on there, was trying to find people who delve super deep into this stuff, and got pointed to this channel multiple times, but you're talking mostly about the games I never played, not the one I want to talk about so much, heh. Still super interesting stuff, but not quite the itch I'm trying to scratch.
Well, Intermission came out and Genesis wasn't in it unfortunately. But! Everything you said I think still works perfectly for Rebirth!! I forget where he said it, but I really like Maximilian Dood's theory that Genesis will be Zack's Sephiroth during his story (considering he was Crisis Core's main antagonist). Maybe Zack's story in Rebirth will start in Midgar (and I say start, because I can't see him staying there the whole game while Clouds party is adventuring), and that's where Genesis is revealed or eluded to? Idk, I just think something that involves Genesis will be Zack's catalyst for leaving Midgar and doing similar story beats to Clouds party. (I hope that all made sense 😅).
I very much appreciate the kind words. It is all just for the love of the game that I make these. and to be able to share this all with you sends me over the moon. Thank you very much.
@@Sleepezi I really hope Maximillian Dood will see the amazing work you are doing and I can't wait to see a special event with you two discussing the direction of FF7Remake. I already watched this video three times and I have to say that the way you explain things, your ability to connect the dots and the editing of your videos are things that do not go unnoticed. You really deserve all your hard work to be known and appreciated! Thank you for making me fall in love with the Remake even more than what I felt 1 year ago. I shared Max's view in the beginning, hoping that Genesis and the crew would just be dealt as some hints and nothing more. Now, after absorbing your amazing explanations I honestly can't wait to see Genesis, Minerva and everyone else, and to know how SE will further proceed in this incredible "final act".
@Sleepezi, Thank you so, so much for what you do. I don't even find the right words to explain just how grateful I am. I was supposed to work from home, and I was like "nice, I'll hear your video in background while working"... And you know what ? The first minutes were so good that I stopped working and watched the whole video this morning without taking a break. I mean, I love this game, I'm so passionate about FFVII too, but if someone one day asks me "Do you know who is the biggest fan on FFVII ?" I'll answer without a single doubt : Sleepezi. So again, thank you so much dude, thank you for sharing your passion like no one else, and for the amazing quality of your videos. Sidenote : Something tells me that if SE watches your video, they'll be like "Well, that guy just spoiled our DLC" x)

I know how many people love this game. and I just love expressing this stuff to you guys. I also would like to say that so much of this is thanks to you guys being so supportive. I genuinely cannot believe just how cool all of you guys have been since the beginning So the gratitude goes both ways. Thank you so much.
Far out dude, seriously exciting to see something new here! I've listened to your videos SO MANY TIMES. Huge thank you for all the info and theories and clarifications! It just get more and more insanely amazing!
I never got into D&D, Star Wars, Comic Books, or any other crazed fandom, but I did fall in love with Final Fantasy 7 in 1997, and after watching 100s and 100s of hours of content I now understand what it would be like to be apart of those crazed circles. I can't get enough of this stuff and it's nice to have somewhat of a network of other FF7 dorks to obsess with.
Thank you Josh, this is for sure a project I wasnt expecting to have out in the time it needed to be before this trailer came out this morning. But I am so glad I could. Thank you thank you thank you.
WHAT IF Genesis is the one to kill Sephiroth in the end with Cloud. Sacrificing himself and becoming the hero he always wanted. And it all starts here on Intermissionz
Loveless has interesting things to say about that. According to the Word of God, after CC Genesis accepts the role of the Prisoner - the guy who in the story of Loveless almost dies, gets healed by a woman from an enemy faction, hangs out with her for a while, and ultimately leaves to have a fight to the death with his former friend the Wanderer and probably die in the process, saving the world. The first two events have already happened in canon: Genesis almost died, got saved by the Planet/Minerva (remember, as a Jenova Project creature he's technically Team Enemy for her and vice versa), so now we're waiting for the part where he leaves his seclusion, fights Sephiroth (who's literally wandering the Planet and the Lifestream) and dies fighting him to usher that "all-healing salvation" ending he had apparently always thought the story would end with. The Prisoner's role is not very heroic in the classic sense - he's the most conflicted of the three, he willingly dies at the hands of his dear friend, and gets no accolades for it. But it helps to save the world, so there's that.
@@DMulisha13 I'm not entirely sure. Sephiroth implies at the end of Part 1 that there is yet another force operating behind the scenes, that he needs Cloud's help to stop. During that scene, he acts more human than he has at any point since Nibelheim. It's possible that Cloud's party literally Breaking Fate has set him free from the role of Villain as well. He may have been referring to Deepground, and its many threats.
If the reception of Intergrade encourages the devs, I could very well see them making a trend of rolling up compilation materials into these DLC intermissions. At least up until whatever point this new crux of no predestination they've introduced. Nomura's statement of still hitting all the known story beats from OG could easily hold true in this case, with the loss of the whispers allowing alternate "cycles" to spiral off course, such as Zack's seemingly new survival of a fight I assume he whispers ensured we lost in crisis core. In any event, love the speculation and you make some stellar content👍 Thanks for all the hard work!
Shelke also made an appearance in World of Final Fantasy. So did Mako Reactor 0. There's even a side story that has FFVIII's Diabolos (who resembles Chaos Vincent) haunt Shelke with a memory of her supposed brother. Weirdly enough, they left out Shalua, whom I love. #JusticeForShaluaRui
A fun thought, in Dirge Reeve describes the ending of remake as something that happens every single night since a mass disappearance in Junon, by sound. Reeve refers to the whispers as "the screams of a thousand souls."
Phenomenal work to say the least. I must say, of all the people who follow ff7 on youtube, you are the best . Unreal. Got me hype for whats coming next!
Bro, you need to make another video now that Intermission has been out. This video was tremendous for the information that was available at the time, but now you need to explain it what was actually in the DLC. The moment that video comes out, I'll have my popcorn. Obviously we now know Nero was the last boss, and Yuffie was in Deep Ground prior to the plate falling, or prior to when the main party infiltrated Shinra.
I'm going to have to split my viewing into a couple settings, but so far this is well researched. Good job, sir I like how Remake is intertwining the whole universe. As someone who only played OG FF7, there's a lot of lore that I'm unfamiliar with. But seeing how some small details are preserved and woven a lot more closely than I realized is amazing.
It doesn't get better than this. We have some of the most thorough analysis, and it has its vision fixed on the most curious story and associated story elements to come out of a Final Fantasy title since FF Tactics. Keep it up, OP! Paid for the seat, only needing the edge.
I really appreciate it. And I am only glad that you enjoyed the fixation on these elements of the game. these have been getting at me for quite sometime. So I am more than happy to have been able to share some of my thoughts. Thank you W.J for watching!
@@Sleepezi Your capacity for this analysis, for as much as you have done, the depths you've taken it, and the vast quantity of materials I can only imagine you've combed, is stunning to grasp. Square needn't look further for a true superfan; you're it, king.
Started this video very intrigued. Found it through Twitter after the latest trailer release for Intergrade. After the latest trailer, I didn't think I could get more excited for a game I can't even play. One three hour video later, I was proven way wrong. 'Holy shit' springs to mind. There is a lot of stuff you talk about in this video that just...blows my mind. Over the past three hours, my mind exploded, my jaw dropped, and I lost count of how many times I said 'Oh my god that makes sense'. As an FF7 fan, I definitely feel like I learned a lot from this video, and was reminded of things I had forgotten. Your arguments and evidence are really compelling. Your analysis of the Compilation as a whole was impressive, and I love the connections you were able to make - some of which I wouldn't have dreamed of connecting. The editing was sublime - I actually had to go back to some parts because I got chills. Before I watched this video, I had my own super basic ideas, but your analysis far surpasses anything I could even consider coming up with. Overall, I'm now itching for more Genesis stuff, and I really hope we get more. This video is super inspiring, exciting, and oh goody I can't wait to see how things play out. Definitely got a sub out of me. (Sorry for the long comment.)
About Sector 6. What if it's Shinra trying to erase all evidence of whatever happened with Zirconiade? Wouldn't it be simpler to pretend it was merely an accident, rather than admitting they were desperately trying to fight back terrorists and shit got out of control? This does sound like something Shinra would do, and doesn't invalidate any of the stuff BC gave us.
What a wonderful documentary! You should definitely go on Maximilian's podcast and do a "big brain" discussion what Square intends to do with FF7R in relation to the compilation series. Probably the most impactful point you've made is Square's desire to retell arguably the most disliked entry in the FF7 series. They could have easily just retconned the entire thing, but decide to tackle it heads on. I love FF7, but I only have a rudimentary understanding of the story, but your video helps .. a LOT.
I very much appreciate this! a lot of time I spend writing is trying to do my best not to leave anyone who isn't familiar to the series behind. Especially since the Compilation is such an unknown to so many people. Also Max was a huge inspiration to me making these vids to begin with. So talking to him about Remake would be a dream come true! Hopefully one day I can get to speak with him! Either way, thank you for watching and commenting!
@@Sleepezi I just re-watched your analysis of Avalanche HQ. I think you've hit it on the head about their plan to attack Shinra HQ. I'm beginning to think that Zack was alive the entire time, and he's been working with Avalanche HQ. This would answer some questionable maneuvers by the Whispers that I couldn't quite solve.. When Wedge attempts to leave Shinra HQ and rejoin the others, the Whispers intervened and it is heavily implied that he was thrown out the window and plunged to his death -- not unlike his fate in OG. Why? Because he met with Zack while in Sector 5 when meeting up with the members of Avalanche HQ to ask for their help. If he would have made it out, he could have spilled the beans that he met Zack. The flashback in Chapter 13 is another example of the Whispers intervening for reasons unknown. When Barrett blasts a whole in the wall leading to a room in the underground laboratory, Cloud peeks in and has a flashback. At first, it seemed that the memory being recounted went back to the time he and Zack was held in the Shinra Mansion for 4 years. However, this cannot be. For one, he was not being held in liquid mako as seen in the OG/CC when Zack awakens. Speaking of awakening, in this flashback, you clearly see Cloud regain consciousness and opens his eyes. He seems alert and coherent. This definitely could not be during the Nibelheim incident as he didn't regain consciousness until after Zack's fatal encounter with the Shinra militia. Lastly, in this flashback, you clearly see Cloud is wearing the SOLDIER outfit. If this was merely a flashback to the Nibelheim incident, he'd still be wearing his infantry uniform. It seems to me that the timing of this flashback is a subtle hint to the player that Cloud (and Zack) was in this underground facility before. Again, the Whispers appeared and impeded any further progress into this room. Why? Because there may have been evidence that he and Cloud were in that room. What I've been doing lately is documenting any changes from the OG to FF7R's timeline, mostly dialogue-wise. The findings are very interesting. For example, the mention of Kunsel by a Shinra infantryman. You've pointed out that Kunsel would have known about the underground laboratory under Sector 7. Or what about Hojo suggesting to breed Aerith (which was also in the OG) with "someone" with "S" or "G" cells (that line was NOT in OG). Speaking of Hojo, do you find it odd that when Barrett tells him that the only reason why Aerith returned to Shinra was because of Marlene, Hojo says that he "misunderstood", but declines to elaborate? Barrett's recounting of the three people who he worked with at Avalanche HQ (Nellie, Al, and Finn). The same three who appears at the very beginning of Yuffie's story. Going back to your Avalanche HQ, you so eloquently pointed out that Avalanche HQ's goal was to get to the President, and there were plans specifically how to reach his office. Someone DID reach that office and whatever happened left the President dangling off the edge of the helipad. Who did that (since we know it wasn't Yuffie/Sonon)?? Who got Wedge out of harm's way and got him underground? We've been thinking that Zack was dead during the events of FF7R as in the OG, but that should be the last thing we should assume. I think the true "red herring" in all this is the intro with Cloud riding on the train. We assumed we know what happened leading up to that, but perhaps we're all wrong on that...
Dude wtf. You put such an unbelievable amount of effort. You deserve so much more subscribers. Liked and subscribed and looking forward to more. Aswell as watching your old ones. I also think ff7r is a sequel and im glad im not the only one.
Right? lol of course he is the one to show up. But as I stated in the video the beat for beat of the story is the same as DoC, so from that perspective Nero fits in with that line of thinking. I think he is going to operate in that same capacity for the story.
My theory: Omega's destruction created a temporal explosion that ruptured the spacetime continuum over Midgar resulting in future knowledge being randomly dispersed into the past. Furthermore, the purple orbs were the consciousness' of Weiss, Sephiroth, and Genesis sent back in time in their entirety. The reason this was able to occur in the first place was because of Zirconiade, Meteorfall, and the Harbinger. Simply put, it was Cloud's fate to kill Fate which weakened spacetime enough to allow Weiss to have his future knowledge in the first place. Weiss will then use this knowledge to kill the Restrictors earlier by using Sonon's sister as a bargaining chip in order coerce him into using yet another Ultimate Materia on the Restrictors forcing Yuffie to kill him to no avail. Weiss and Genesis are free. Shelke is saved by Yuffie and they meet up with Zack. Begin Part 2.
I love how detailed this story is. I probably wouldn't have picked up on like any of this, even though I pay attention to the story. I'm glad you can tell the story pieces clearly and straight to the point. Thank you once again. B)
Thanks for pointing out the Zirconiade, everyone tends to forget about it's existence. I think it is somewhat related to Chaos because they are both things born to "burn down the Planet". But there is one thing with Zirconiade, I wonder if you its design is kind of similar to Minerva, it also has the same color theme to Genesis Avatar though.
Unironically: Zirconiade is so cool. I love her design and everything. That rabbit hole in regards to chaos can be found with the creatures defending the Support materia for her in the final battle of the cutscene. Random shadow creatures and such sort of reminiscent of the corruption found in Omega, which is Stagnant lifestream corruption of Nero, which is the same substance that makes up chaos. Similarities in Minerva, Omega, and Zirconiade would be the circular halos that are on their bodies, similar maybe to Safer Sephiroth in the Original? there is so much stuff with that. Fuhito and Genesis share a LOT of similarities. all of the villains do in FF7. A lot of these I mention here and there in my videos but these sort of connections are endlessly fascinating to me.
I'm only 30m into the video, but wow, so much exposition! 😳 Looks great! Will edit once the video is done! Edit: Finished! You really know your FF7 lore. I'm very impressed. Genesis being involved sounds pretty likely, since there's so many different references to his presence in the timeline. Sephiroth himself implies that there is something else working behind the scenes, that he needs Cloud's help to stop. At the Edge of Creation, he was acting more human than he had at any point since Nibelheim. He seemed genuinely concerned Cloud might accidentally delete himself by wandering into the Unwritten Future.
Lol I never thought about that but you are absolutely right! Jessies parents probably got into serious trouble with Shinra. Not very mindful of their safety that Jessie. Thanks for pointing this out!
Okay, I finally watched the whole thing, and you've absolutely fucking blown me away. You're a crazy, crazy man, Sleeps--and I think you're 100% right. Love ya dude!
I knew that there was going to be news for FF7R Intergrade the day after the video. but I wanted the video out before so I could call my shots on what I thought was happening before anything was announced! I am so glad it was the last trailer though lol. Thanks for watching Thien!

I actually do hope we see some banora underground perhaps? that might be a fun area.
As a person who genuinely enjoys the entire compilation, even Dirge and Genesis, I love everything they're doing with Remake.

That moment when you realize Heidegger is voiced by John DiMaggio aka Bender. I can just see Heidegger saying "I'm gonna build my own Shinra Electric Company. With Hookers and Blackjack."

I know this is so late but I loove this man when he is theorizing
I've been waiting for this. "Finally!"
Everyone please share this man's channel! He's so talented and underrated 🤟

Like somebody posted on Pez's stream, "mELFE?" That would be a massive retcon, however... 🤔

40:18 "He is now in control of Shinra, AVALANCHE and now in Remake is directly tied to Wutai. This man literally has control over all of the major players of any conflict..."
Rufus Shinra is the Littlefinger/Petyr Baelish of Final Fantasy VII's world!
And it actually makes his character relevant which i think was lost in the OG because he had seemingly no stake.

Wave...Thank you.
I only just love to know that you guys just genuinely enjoy watching this content. and I am glad that it was engaging enough to have grabbed your attention in such a way. I know how many people love this game. and I just love expressing this stuff to you guys. I also would like to say that so much of this is thanks to you guys being so supportive. I genuinely cannot believe just how cool all of you guys have been since the beginning
So the gratitude goes both ways.
Yo man. Just thank you so much for all the effort you put into your work. I really am grateful for it.
So much respect for the research and putting it all together. You're fucking killing it Sleepezi
@@saikeenra I didn't know that, that sounds like a great way to end Genesis story.
Always excited when you drop a vid
I will absolutely have to watch this! Thanks for the heads up! and thanks for watching!
Sounds like a trap card in Yugioh lolll
And Rufus is basically Kaiba
What if I told you.......that I liked the video before watching it.
A fun thought, in Dirge Reeve describes the ending of remake as something that happens every single night since a mass disappearance in Junon, by sound. Reeve refers to the whispers as "the screams of a thousand souls."
2:03:30 Shelke also appeared in WOFF. Clearly somebody at Square hasn't forgotten her.
Good job, sir
I like how Remake is intertwining the whole universe. As someone who only played OG FF7, there's a lot of lore that I'm unfamiliar with. But seeing how some small details are preserved and woven a lot more closely than I realized is amazing.
*likes immediately 29 seconds after upload just cuz I already know it's good*
Ditto
35 mins in and my mind is blown repeatedly!
Sleepezi tha GAWD! Supreme Content bruh! Much love from Detroit!
I try my best for you guys! Thank you so much Mike!
Really glad you enjoyed it! :)
@@Sleepezi no problem bruh! you saw Nero in the actual story of intergrade though? 🔥🔥🔥
I love FF7, but I only have a rudimentary understanding of the story, but your video helps .. a LOT.
I second this
I very much appreciate this! a lot of time I spend writing is trying to do my best not to leave anyone who isn't familiar to the series behind.
3 hours? "I know what I must do, but I don't know if I have the strength to do it..."
"Do it."
I am so glad that you are here for us and we are here for you. On and on and on and on.... Always the best : - )
oh.. it's only 3-hours... time to get a vod and sink the afternoon ; - )
** seeks a way to give this video 10-billion thumbs' up.....
24 hours later Nero is in the Intergrade trailer.
Right? lol of course he is the one to show up. But as I stated in the video the beat for beat of the story is the same as DoC, so from that perspective Nero fits in with that line of thinking. I think he is going to operate in that same capacity for the story.
He probably knew ahead of time or saw some leaks
"Just to be clear, Tsung didn't say a f****** thing" that part had me dying bro 😂😂😂
Your videos absolutely deserve to be seen by more people. Super good job dude!
That bit about Sonon is definately right. Nice thinking. I don't like DoC, but I hope Intergrade goes like you predict. I'd be fine with that.
I would love to see this done right. So I am with you there. lets just hope that it is.
You videos have been just what I need to get through the wait to the next game. I look forward to seeing this channel growing!
..Awww man its 3 hours. Can my husband and I watch a 3 hour video *looks at clock that says 11PM* *Looks at 8AM Start time tomorrow* Aw what the hell.
Lol I learned I need two clocks.
If Jessie used her father card , wouldn't Shinra know who it was by looking up who scanned the card ? Jessie would be putting her parents in danger.
Lol I never thought about that but you are absolutely right!
Jessies parents probably got into serious trouble with Shinra. Not very mindful of their safety that Jessie.
Thanks for pointing this out!
that is why she hired cloud to mug her house
Dude, the amount of work you put into this, i am amazed, this was extremely well done and straight down incredible!

I love taking the dive into this stuff. I love to share it even more. So glad to hear that its something being reciprocated!
Why is it every time Sleep releases a video, square releases a new trailer with more information. It’s like they’re watching him.
I knew that there was going to be news for FF7R Intergrade the day after the video. but I wanted the video out before so I could call my shots on what I thought was happening before anything was announced! I am so glad it was the last trailer though lol.

Why is the whole of FFVII such a perfection of characters, story, music, worldbuilding and lore? I love the VII saga so much.
Another amazing video which answered more questions I had of the story especially when it came to Genesis, wow thanks again!! Also your predictions are so close to the actual intermission it's crazy.
I like how you see all kinds of steel pieces when walking with Aeirth. It shows a pat long forgotten
I love you. Been binging all your 7 vids while working (AAA driver, on the road a lot), and I never thought there would be so much more to learn about 7. Fuckin hats off, my man. My mind is blown and I love it.
But this entire video is wrong lol. Intermission dismantles all of this XD
