Where to add Ethernet switch in home studio

  • Almost ready to put Drywall up in my first DIY home recording studio/rehearsal room and I need to decide on a couple network choices:
    1) Ethernet switch outside of my 22' X 12' room (foyer area) or
    2) inside near my computer or modest rack gear. (Easier but concerned with switch itself producing any type of new noise or hum in a sensitive recording environment?) So far, I've only heard of failing units, or their fans making noise as they die.
Benefit of outside, Obviously to avoid any type of noise, but then it seems like I'll be running a lot more Cat6 cable. A 30' run for computer, TV, maybe a security camera, maybe to Behringer XAir mixer, perhaps another device or two. It's really no problem to do that but having one LAN feed to a switch inside the room near my computer/rack mount would take less planning and offer flexibility with devices in my room
