As an avid Toyota owner, I love your passion for all things Toyota. Thanks for the great review.
Thanks for watching!
So pumped on this truck! Great seeing you agrain at the event bro! This truck is 🔥
Dude it was awesome to see you man! This truck is going to be awesome!
This is the review I wanted to see. Seeing all the journalists ones were cool but this right here is real every day person review.
Honestly almost cried watching you guys in the beginning so happy for yall to experience such a sick opportunity!!
Thanks a lot man! It’s been a long time coming🤙
I am a Tacoma TRD Sport guy. I do my 99.9 driving on the paved road and I don't off-road. So I want a sport tuning, in a truck that will navigate the winding roads with confidence. For now, I'll keep my '22 which is pretty brand new. Maybe in about 5 years I will consider the 4th-Gen, at its mid-life.
TB and Chloe, great collab!
Thanks bro 🤙
CHLOEEE AND MATEOO LEGENDARY!!
2/2nd gen owner here and I’m in no hurry to go out and buy this until that turbo has been tested and proven by actual drivers, not a dyno. Great vid you two👌🏽
Unfortunately we can't beat physics and thermodynamics. Turbos will fail well before our beloved 3.5l at 300k miles. Glad I got into gen 3 at 0% financing while I could 😂
Diesel semis have turbos that don't fail for 1 million miles.
@@Lumpia_In_Texasand isnt the the same engine in other toyota models that have already been proven?
Well considering Toyotas have had turbos for decades, I'm pretty sure they're proven and reliable. It's not like Toyota just discovered them all of a sudden.
You really think Toyota doesn't know how to build turbo'd engines? They've been doing it for a very long time.
I live in Northern California and still only have seen very few 2024 Tacomas on the road. I thought I'd be seeing them everywhere
u 2 look like kids in a candy store... props 2 both of u... saludos Mateo desde Puerto Rico
Thanks! 😃
Love how massive that knob is 😂 great video
Right?!
There’s no better person I can think of to test drive a 4th Gen Tacoma for the first time with than TacomaBeast!!!🔥 Awesome video showing all the details, especially the breakdown with Craig and Winston!
Team Chloe😅
Perfect collaboration, you two should do more videos together.
Couldn't agree more!
You both make a great team
Really enjoyed you being part of the video. Let’s go on an adventure together. Mateo - let’s make it happen.
Damn you guys drove this past my neighborhood, I wish I could have seen these
Can’t wait to see what after market parts you develop for these
"Have you seen how massive this shift knob is?"🤣
Very bulbous
The 1st gen. V6 4x4 Tacoma is the best one overall in my opinion. I will continue to use it for the next couple of decades. Great review, but no thanks, I will keep my vintage Taco.
They didn’t put the plastic cover because of heat is my guess.
I pulled the engine cover off my 2005 Outback XT
Is that.... a typo?

30?!
I’ve been on a 2nd gen for over 10 years now…maybe it’s time for an upgrade. It would be nice to finally be able to press the gas and pass up cars instead of chugging up the hills or slowly building speed to get past them. Seems like the new drivetrain is a huge plus with the added 8 gear transmission. Also would be nice to have more off roading features like that sway bar disconnect. 14” screen is massive and maybe too much. They should have went with like a 10 or 12 to meet the dashboard instead of sticking out above it. Makes it look unnatural. Thanks for the details explanations and review.
The TRD Off Road does have the disconnecting sway bar.
I'm glad you weren't the engineer for this truck. 14 is awesome!
@@J.Young808 Not standard, optional.
the only thing i am jelly about is the sway bar disconnect lol!! lol and the trail hunter trim looks pretty cool, looks like ill have to get a 2nd tacoma lol
Wish they kept the 17” rims instead of 18” on the Trailhunter.
Just love the Tacoma, Iike the beasty aggressive look
Great collab!
Imagine the 3.4 TT from the tundra in the the Tacoma for the TRD Pro plus 🫡
They have an “X-runner” type concept with that motor in it.
@@J.Young808 Should have done it for the OR.
This year I purchased my first brand new truck! A 2023 Lunar Rock double cab, 6 speed manual of course. The Taco loves off-roading with super low gear ratio with the manual and it’s probably the most reliable truck you can buy right now. But I’ve got my Toyota dealer trying to get me a Trail Hunter 😅 The way I see it, if I can have Toyota factory warranty all the upgrades I would do anyways and I don’t have to spend hours building it, that’s just more time I’m not worrying about break downs on my dime, and more time using my truck for work in the patch or getting out into that sweet Alberta / BC backcountry ⛰️
But then many will say “ But sir that thing will break down immediately just like a Ford” Ya cool story man I just don’t think Toyota would put this turbo I4 in a Land Cruiser if it meant tarnishing, the reputation that it’s had for having legendary reliability, longevity and off-road cred…
I just tuned my 3rd Gen and the transmission shifts fine now… no problems at all.
Trd sport 4x4 automatic with iforce gets 30mpg combined? Tell me that wasnt a massive typo?
From what I saw on TRD John’s video they are rated the same by Toyota, EPA is backlogged so no rating yet.
I have no issues with the turbo 4, my wife's Lexus has it and it rips! I have third gen TRD OR prem. and not sure I would upgrade yet but the hybrid TRD looks great plus good gas mileage!
Got the 23 trd premium as well. Waited a long time to get this in the 3rd gen. If im rich/living good in about 3-4 years then ill get a 4th gen. I also specifically wanted the 23 cuz u never want to buy the first few years of a new gen vehicle.
@@JimmyDeSantagta I wanted a 3rd gen 6mt but they only come with premium and I literally do not want or need any of those premium features.
Hopefully when people buy the 24’ taco and do a review with overland weight. Hopefully oil pressure of the turbo won’t be an issue figure cross.
Planning on one as soon as we get it 🤙
Nice truck. The air dam probably also be removed by many guys as they’ve been done with the 2nd & 3rd Gen.
I'm going to get the 2024 toyota tacoma TRD off road because I think it's the best for what I'm looking for and I have driven my dad 3 jeneration toyota tacoma TRD Sport and I like it very much and it's time for me to upgrade from a car to a truck
This 4th Gen must prove its worth. It is not part of the best like the three previous models. We shall wait and see.
1st and 2nd gen owner. Putting ome bp51's on my 2nd gen then ill upgrade in a couple years.
Good job toyota on FINALLY getting a fully boxed frame. The rear coil springs makes the suspension competitive with the Jeep gladiator, but the new motor should put it above.
Now if only we could get a good deal on one, im sure these will be marked up by shady dealerships at least 5K for the first couple of years. Ill wait till the recession to see if I can get one at invoice.
Check out the frame on dump truck… ‘C’ frame! Box frame will hold the water, dirt and road salt inside, while with the C frame it can run out.
Have owned a Pickup 1996 manual 5 speed, 2001 gen1 manual 5 speed, 2012 gen2 manual 6 speed and now 2017 TRD Off Road Long Bed Auto with 50K in mods and the suckiest transmission known to the Auto industry. I sure hope this thing turns out to a blast to drive and does not have some hidden nightmare lurking in the shadows. I'll be watching and waiting a few years before new purchase is considered. Thanks for decent test drive but barely scratched the surface of an untested and unproven new generation. A good salesman can sell you a rotten tomato and you'll pay with a smile. Yes get ride on the dealership sale force, service and parts only. Cheers.
I don’t understand how the OR and Sport are rated at the same fuel economy when the OR doesn’t come with the front snow plow? 🤔 Does this mean if you remove the air dam you won’t sacrifice any efficiency? 😅
you are absolutely correct, that front air dam has to go! Other than that its a great looking rig!
Extreme low frequency rumble in the audio from this video.. maybe use a HP filter around 80hz to get rid of it? Love your videos, if you need any help with audio, let me know!
When does your next video come out? I want to see more on the portals!
I'm holding my 3rd gen till they release the hydrogen v6 or v8 version.
I'm skeptical of this turbo and how it will hold up in the harsh demands we put our rigs through; on the trails and in various terrains. I'll come around, when I see someone build one of these out and really put it through some rough terrain and wheel it. That test site Toyota had did not do any justice for me, or win me over. I am not saying this truck isn't capable, just saying when I see it go through the stuff the 3g goes through and performs perfectly, ill feel a lot better about the new taco. Not to happy about the price tag for the TRDOR either, but more technology more money you pay. You would figure that after all these years, they would have put a front locker in the new taco; since ARB is teamed up with Toyota. Besides that, hoping for the best for this new Tacoma, and looking forward to seeing baby tundra all built out.
So when can we put an order in for a 2024 tacoma off road?
Now. My dealer already has them allotted and texted me today. Haha
@@americandude3825 how much is the deposit?
In the video we mention that they will be available to dealers in December 2024
You sure you don't mean 2023?@@tacomabeast
I am worried about the stop start new vehicle have. I am hopeful that there will be a version that does not have stop start.
Most have an option (button) to turn it off. Bad thing is it defaults to on. Aftermarket makes adapters to default it to off though.
I use my TRD OR (I’ve had a 21, 22, and now 23) to clean pools. I clean 70ish pools a week. That’s 140 Starts and stops, per week and 6,720 in a year. Just for work. In all of my trucks, I’ve had absolutely zero issues. You have nothing to worry about
Did you two try out the backseat?
Chloe sat back there when Mateo drove the off road course
Lmao good one
Reminds me of the Turbo Serento kia i drove.
Hey man, the previous gen Sorento did MOAB with just a sway bar disconnect so I'm a fan. Wifey drives one
So Mateo do you remember how your Tacoma Sport drove stock? Chloe has always had an Off Road. @ChloeKuo what is the status of your rebuilt Tacoma Pro? Haven’t seen many videos.
My local Toyota dealer has a 2023 TRD 4X4 hybrid for $75,000 Dollars , Did they address the rusty frame problems ?
They could have easily done a engine cover with the hood insulation. Looks more like cost cutting to me. Can’t wait to drive it though!
Totally awesome video! I love the Tacoma I have 3 generations of Tacomas all lifted
What's your fave lift so far? I'm a cheapo and went with supreme susp brand 2" spacers all around. But def thinking about going with real suspension lift in the spring.
@jtec99 I have a 4 inch toy tec lift on my 2nd generation n a 6 inch rough country lift on my 3d gen with 37 inch nitto mud grapplers
@@scottblake6850 bet it's sexy as hell my dude.
If you need some help with suspension shoot us a DM on IG or Facebook we’ll be happy to help you 🤙
Right on!
Old school.... me too. Any idea if the 6MT have a manual e-brake? They really should...
Is the inner bed size the same
How do you compare the supercharger on the third GEN I believe you had put into your truck to the turbo on the fourth GEN
The extended cab doesn’t allow you to open up the back door my 2008 Tacoma does that’s big for me I am 81 years old that semi cab 2024 that’s a dealbreaker for me
The 2024 dilemma: I’m ether gladiator or Tacoma -> does it look like the Tacoma can be modified easier than previous years. It seems jeeps can be modified much easier so it seems with aftermarket parts. Great video!!!!
The aftermarket world for the Tacoma is going to be wild once it comes out.
OMG 😳
A real offroad version would have wheel well openings at least 4 inches bigger all around, get rid of low drag wind dam, at least 488 gears and dual air lockers....
The MPG is a tad less than I hoped....
Sound dampening would be a lot higher on my list v.s an engine cover...
Me too!
Mateo, you ever driven a 3rd gen with the OTT tune? Wondering how that compares in acceleration to this new engine. I'm under the impression that the tune gives the 3rd gen more horsepower (around 300 crank) and similar torque figures as the new I4 turbo Tacomas.
Howdy! Thanks for all the content. I have one question which I have yet to see answered anywhere about the limited trim… In the last 2 generations you were able to get a limited trd off-road. Is that something that will be possible in this generation? If so would it still come with full-time awd?
Wonder how the electronic power steering will handle 35’s??
I want to know if you have to be on level ground to engage 4L like the 3rd gen? Also did Toyota solve the issue with the transfer case getting stuck in 4L? It hasn't happened yet to me in my 3rd gen. But seems like a common problem. I wish they would just give us a manual handle Tcase lever like the 4runner!
Toyota still has not released it yet...not on the web site, and not on the lots yet.
pricing has been released on the website for non-hybrids, but cant configure any yet.
In the video we announce when it will be available to dealers
kids at Disney..... can't wait to see more on the, road.. 🤣🤣🤣
Excited to see these trucks in the wild. My negative thoughts on the truck.
Tacoma on the tundra frame is my major gripe, already feel like the 3g Tacoma is way to close to the size of an F-150.
Electric e-brake and EPS is a turn off for me as well and the interior design language is very dated.
Wish they would have changed the side profile a bit from the 3g. The hood to door/bed rail has always looked like a crash standard requirement that Toyota forgot about in the last hour of design.
Man it current Tacoma owner that ruin it for the rest of us. Tacoma is too small of a truck. If you want something small, go buy a Miata. I'm 5'9 and the current Tacoma is too small for my taste. I wish the Gen 4 was bigger than the finished product.
Good takes 🤙
@@tacomabeast Also, why don't you drive a manual Tacoma? Too much hassle off-road?
@@chrisx5127 The Tacoma's ideal size for me would be slightly larger than the size of a 3rd gen 4 runner.
My opinions don't ruin anything for anyone.
I own a Suzuki Samurai. heh
Toyota Tundra?
Definitely clean engine bay!
I have question for you, the trail hunter has a beefy chassis/frame so that you can have heavier loads than TRD Pro. I remember you said you are getting offroad version, will it have same chassis/frame like Trail Hunter or no? im definitely building for overlanding. thank you
Same chassis 🤙
@@tacomabeast dammit, now it would be hard to choose from the two...Since i want best Fox shocks out there then i should go with off road then:) Thank you!
Im not sold on turbo. All my turbo vehicles always have issues. I don't see this being any different.
i like how Mateo mentioned his dislike of the air dam and rear recovery points. when we all know he is going to remove both bumpers, rims, shocks, grill, headlights, tail lights, and do a chrome delete. it's not what toyota has done with the new tacoma that i'm interested in, but what tacomabeast will do.
I find the massive plastic piece on the bottom of the front bumper super ugly that is there on most of the trims
It’s for MPG increase. You can remove it if it bothers you.
I'm not for sure on board with getting the 4th generation..With the increase in starting prices..along with stupid dealer markups.
Someone needs to do something about the dealer markups 🤦♂️
Great collab 😂
I'm disappointed that the hybrid version won't be available till spring, probably next June.
To bad no v6 turbo 420 hp should have been optional. Maybe 2025 or 26 tacos will get v6 turbo ? 😊
You should do more collaboration with Kloe, you both provide different perspective and callouts that are insightful.
Where does he talk about mpg
Hell yeah man!!!
The Fact that you got teamed up with Khloe is heaven sent!
You guys should use the connection with the manufacturer and point out how disappointed loyal Toyota customers feel about been taking to the cleaners by some unscrupulous Dealers that sell their brand with huge price tags that are 5 -10+ thousand over MSRP. I'm not buying a new one until this changes
Definitely has been a talking point for us! It’s ridiculous how high some of these dealer fees are.
What is up with the gigantic air damn on the front. And, the Jeep fender flares too.
It’s for MPG but I agree it looks hideous lol
when is full EV version coming out?
Anyone have the time stamp for MPG & MSRP?
38-39th min
What's the gear ratio? 3.91 or?
I’m betting the turbo/hybrid 4 cylinder Tacomas will have a longevity of 150-200k miles. With the v6 Tacoma we could easily get 250k-350k miles out of truck. These days are no longer with these hybrid crap! My sister in law had a 2017 Toyota Prius that was a hybrid. Her engine blew this year at 147,000 miles. I don’t trust these hybrid / turbo trucks
I laughed in third gen when I saw the gas mileage on the hybrid
28:04 will owners be able to fit 33 or larger tires without that body mount being an issue? 🧐🤔
Only time will tell, but I will say the PRO will come stock with 33’s I believe
Seat belt? I just watched my local news. Four young people like yourself driving in a BMW over 100 MPH lost control and flipped. One person walked away with minor scratches. Three died. Guess who was wearing their seatbelt? You got it, the smart one that walked away virtually unharmed. Other than the horrible trauma of losing her close friends...
A trabajado con Tacomas por once años es entendible la mamadota que le está pegando a la review, un carro infra valorado con esos precios.
Everything except the big giant screen in the middle of the dash.
Seriously this makes me kinda want to sell the second gen and upgrade to the fourth gen.
Your sense of insane side hilling leads me to believe youve never flopped a rig over before
You tell us. ruclips.net/video/E-lyRvHMgKk/видео.htmlsi=PlAuaGJ2Ijdywl_4
Gas = Petrol yeah?
Yep
High hp and torque is with the Hybrid
Is it just me or does this guys voice sound like jean Claude vandam
Really!
I agree about the engine bay. It looks like a frikin mess. I wonder how it’s gonna be to work on
At least you can see the components, and watch for leaks, etc.
my 2015 doesn't "gear hunt"
Who gives a shit about hp if your wearing out your engine faster with turbos forcing more pressure on a small engine they should have kept the V6 and improved it without turbos
Get rid of the 4-cylinder i would never get a truck that had a 4-cylinder in it. Even if you put 50 turbos on it it is still a 4-cylinder the truck looks good the air dam has to go on anything that's not an offroad rig waste of money for off-roaders the rear disk brakes well it's about time. and the price are you kidding we get a 4-cylinder and no V6 and the tail gate has no wait to it and I dont need auto up and down tail gate on any truck you take away more wait from the rear of a truck and now will be sliding even more all over the road and I heard you maid the gas tank smaller???????
I love my 2005 Tacoma 4x4 with the V6 :) in it I have a hundred and fifty thousand miles on it and no leaks no problems with it at all have been very happy with it I will keep my truck till it dies or I do but I would never get a truck with a 4-cylinder ever so sad Toyota had to jump on the 4-cylinder band wagon
What happens to the taco
2024 Toyota Tacoma Limited starting @ $53.5k
2024 Toyota Tundra limited crewmax 4x4 on sale now at many dealerships for $58k.
Who in their right mind would buy the taco?
So disappointed with mpg
Why everytime Toyota changes the Taco we want the previous generation even more?
Some older people don't want an iPad in their face when they're driving, just like we don't walk around (often in front of traffic) with a phone in our face. Concentrate on the road, not all the BS gadgets, save a life maybe even your own.
You are so wrong! Old people love big screen because it has bigger font. Better to see.
I fully agree,I don’t want all this bullshit in my truck!
@@gregenglehart6795 I do, but I want reliability the most. I want this to be my last and only truck if it gets to that point.
