    I remember still riding in one of these busses in 8th grade, it was even a manual transmission. My driver had gotten the usual one in an accident, so we rode in this for the better part of the school year. Once she made a turn onto a straight well away from the school, she'd put down everything the bus had to match traffic. I think either the sound of the turbo coming up to spool or the clutch groaning is th most memorable thing about these

      That bus Had some rust problems that it needs to be retired and sold for parts is what the guy said.
      It’s better to find a bus that’s in good condition then find a bus that’s going to kill us

    • @GMC6523
      @GMC6523 3 года назад

      @Mannten Lee and Ram 1500 Fan 27 Productions Well at least the diesel engine didn't get wasted because you can find a another engine block and put the parts off the old engine block to a another one that ready to run with low miles so it doesn't get wasted.

    The econ mode switch when turned on engages the computer inside the transmission follows a set perimeter that shifts the transmission. Plus it limits the RPM's the engine turns over. It was designed to actually save on fuel consumption

    You can still order buses with manual doors. My company just got in 2 2020 international IC CE propane buses with manual doors. Also a lot of our newer blue bird visions have manual doors

      What a SIN!!! What I'd like to see is if the new Thomas C2's (Which I love) actually hold up over time the way these oldies have. Third world countries in Latin/South America (Nicaragua, Guatemala, etc) would KILL to get buses like this. AND they fix them up for public transportation and take even better care of them than we do!!!!!!

      The guy said on RUclips that the reason why those school buses headed to retire because it’s not safe to be driven and not safe to be reused for RVs and stuff but the motor is able to be rebuilt and reused again that’s not polluting as much

    If I had a School Bus I’d buy an 2004 Blue Bird with the Cummins 5.9L Diesel engine and I’d also get the Manual door because I don’t want an Automatic door just more electric motors to break I want my bus to last forever and my bus would come with an Engine Block Heater

      Good morning. God bless you. I watched that the bus was Canadian. Inside, a plate logo "Blue Bird Body Company" included "Made in Canada".
      I would like to watch a lot of Blue Bird buses as in the past in my country, Costa Rica. I would watch manual transmission Blue Bird buses and Canadian TX4 Blue Bird buses. They are beautiful. Besides, if they come with mud flaps, in Deluxe version, reclining high seats, roof racks, air conditioning, high and low school bus windows and deluxe windows, destination loop or destination window forward and rear, a lot of colors and, of course, all logos and always they have birds logos on the roof.

    why does the epa want these buses scrapped? why do they want the engine unusable?

    • @TommyRetro
      @TommyRetro  6 лет назад +3

      Donald Martin The EPA believes the DT engine family pollutes the air at a higher rate than modern diesels, so they want the engine rendered totally unusable so that someone can't transplant the engine into something else. It's hard for me to have to do that to a perfectly good Dt 466. I really don't care for the new emissions standards that have crippled modern Diesel engines. I wont buy anything with modern diesel after the early 2000's.
