    You couldn't tighten the cord so it's not slacking across the entire fireplace? There's enough room behind the glass to hide the cord completely.

    While I agree with most of the people commenting about the naked wire, but i loved the video. This was great video other than the wire. I have a similar wall but in my case, i would like the TV on top. I would have also loved if you would have talked about the heating, as far as how much opening it needs and/or on top as most people would want to hang TVs on top. Thank you though for the video

    Sorry to be negative here, but it's one thing to hang the fireplace surface mount. But, if you're going to go to the trouble of cutting studs etc, my gosh hard wire the friggin thing. This install is very sloppy.

      EXACTLY! When I saw they were just going to plug it in and leave the cord showing I was like "why bother with the recessed mounting? It looks like crap! I'm getting ready to install one of these in our basement and you can bet your behind that I'm hard wiring that SOB!

    Nice clear video. I am going to install a recessed electric fireplace but wondering what tool(s) did you use to cut out the studs without going all the way through the rear drywall? That part of your video was on high speed.
    I will hardwire mine to a switch on the wall. Thats easy to do.

    so my question is do these fireplaces need fire protection behind them or any ventilation? Or can I install this on a joining wall with another room? Asuuming of course the wall is supported structurally?

    Flush mount fireplaces typically have enough trim to hide the additional framing needed when cutting through studs. You should have fully framed this out. Also, the idea you need an electrician to tap a 120v outlet is hilarious.

      My guess is a 50-In Allure Wall Mount Electric Fireplace - NEFL50FH
      Having this said Dimplex has much more natural flames but it is pricier.

    You don't need to hire an electrician to wire that. Just cut the plug and feed it through the back of that receptacle and wire up.

    Wow. Should have located it somewhere else. Took that diagonal 2x4 off the back of the stairway. NOTE: that's what held the stairway drywall in position. Good luck with the cracking that will happen now. The vertical ones also held drywall along the stairway up, and the stairway beneath. Somebody's gonna have a nice repair project to re-do every year as the cracks continue re-appearing!!! Gotta love it! This choice is in the category of DDIY - - Don't Do It Yourself.

    Does it need a gap between drywall? If you have the space behind can the glass basically sit tight against the wall?

    The work is excellent, just a detail, I think you could work a little to make an internal connection so that that electrical cord is not visible

    Hey, the install showed how easy it can be but for self-described pros that non-finishing touch on the electrical cord is half-ass. You even could have run the cord inside the wall and just brought it through the wall at the outlet right there! As a marketing professional, I am respectively telling you're not helping yourselves with this.

      well we keep our videos very real. and this particular homeowner didn't want to pay an electrician, so we happily complied and turned the camera on.

      Embers Fireplaces & Outdoor Living could have at the VERY least done what the poster stated. Ran the cord BEHIND the Sheetrock and then popped it out AT the outlet and THEN plugged it in. I am not some DIY, or electrical installer and would have done this for esthetic reasons. It looks sloppy. This should have be an easy decision FREE of charge.

    That electric work doesn't need a Pro electrician - - the power cable at the bottom edge looks horrible.

    You fast forward thru the important parts. The cord looks horrendous and I'm not so sure that those stairs didnt in part rely on those studs you removed. A proper install would be to properly foam that opening with a header and supports and to properly hardwire that fireplace to the existing circuit.

    Next time, please use a microphone. One can hardly hear you and it always is annoying to hear someone speaking off-mike. Also don't fastforward the demonstration of the installation. It's much better to explain what the workers are doing at a normal pace.

      @@embersliving You know....how when you leave the electric fireplace on for hours and hours the heat builds up behind and below the units and caused the wood in the wall to catch fire. Once you get the fire and the house goes up in flames...everyone dies. What is even worse, is the insurance company refuses to pay because it was a faulty install ...based on some diy moron video.

    I’ve wanted to do this project for the longest time. I called a contractor and he told me 4000 for the job lol I don’t think he understood what I meant by fireplace. I said wall mounted, and I think he thought I meant a real fireplace 😂😂 unless that’s how much it costs to install?

    This video taught me an important leason, hire a professional to do the install. The cord there is awful. Sorry, I hope you hid it better later.

      its just one way of doing it, to show customers how easy it can be. Hardwiring is a great option as well! However this customer didn't want to pay an electrician and this was the option he chose.

      @@embersliving Come on you guys should be able to do the whole install without asking the customer to go to the trouble of hiring out yet another person. Especially for something so simple! If I were you I wouldn't even feel comfortable letting a customer install it the way you guys demonstrated...it completely ruins the finished product! When people go to their house and look at that and see how sloppy it is they aren't going to be impressed. Nor will they think dropping $1K+ on an electric fireplace seem like a good idea when they think it'll just end up looking like that. I'm not trying to tell you how to run your business....well actually I guess I am...DO THE INSTALL RIGHT DANG IT!!!!

    Sloppy job. If it's a load bearing wall, the cutout studs (you've cut TWO) needs to be supported by a horizontal stud. Place the damn cable inside the wall.
