Finally someone saying good information, not just saying what everyone else is saying. My a7iv should be here soon. Thanks to your video I will know how to set it up the way I want it. Thanks.
Oh my God thank you SO MUCH. My concern was the first mentioned thing about different settings between video and photo. I cannot believe that customers have to search and set this. Why isn't it already set as we switch the new dial. It should automatically offer the last used setting. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
I am an owner of Sony A7 IV. I have observed a huge difference between animal mode and the bird mode when you shoot birds. It is a completely different experience. We have 3 modes because they have to use real-time ML algorithms, and they have a pure performance. Nobody can fit NVIDIA 3090 into a camera. Even the best Neural Net is imperfect, and you can achieve much better results with a bit of human supervision.
@@Kempetenz Can you recommend a lens or two that I can use for photography? I’m most interested in that. Just planning to shoot people, some parties maybe. It’s more of a hobby for me than trying to make a business out of it. Appreciate the response. 💪🏼
I'm going to set my shutter off when camera Powers down to a custom button or function menu. That way I can leave it off when I'm turning the camera off but not changing the lens, and every once in awhile when I'm ready to change a lens I can enable it. That way it only works when I want it to.
A very good video, I have changed a number of things you suggested. I think it's a real shame how limited the selection of options are for the exposure compensation dial. I would love to set it to min shutter in Auto ISO but you can not.
Hi, someone knows if it´s possible to change to from Photography mode to Video mode without using the new dial that sony introduces for it? It´s because I do underwater photography, and there´s no whaterhousing for sony A7IV nowadays, so I want to buy the waterhousing from sony A7SIII, because it has the same body, but the only diference it´s that dial. Thank you so much.
Thank you very much for the informative video. I want to change the "Display Quality" setting as you mentioned but mine is grayed out and not available. Any ideas on how to activate the menu option? Thank you.
@@KempetenzThank you very much. I had missed your explanation in the video regarding the relationship of the Display Quality to the High Frame Rate. I understand now. Thank you for getting back to me.
@@Kempetenz do you happen to know what the fps is on low speed? Is it 60 fps? AND do you happen to know what the resolution drops to for the high speed 120fps?
Hi! Can you please tell me how I set it to focus automatically? when he sees a subject in the foreground, there is no need to press any button ... to do that face tracking
I put the bird/human/animal af cycle on a button on the camera. It would be frustrating to go to hit this button on a lens that doesn’t have a button when you see a cools bird. I set my lens button to right/left eye as that’s not super important and I would pretty much only use that on my 85mm which has the programmable button on the lens.
These are really good tips, I changed several things. Thank you. Please keep these coming. Real world modes, photography tips et cetera with this camera would be appreciated too.
Hi I have the A7IV with the tamron 28-75 and I find the focus point super laggy when I burst shoot The focus point follow the subject when I don't shoot but once it's starting shooting, it doesn't follow at all and It's always a little behind. Anyone else noticed this?
Thanks for the good hints to make the camera even more powerful. One question: at the end you showed that it is possible to see the picture for several seconds after shooting. Is it also possible to use at the same time a magnification to show the af area e.g. 5x or 10x zoomed in? I used this on my NX1 and it was very helpful. 1000 thanks in advance Best regards Bernd
@@mshea5906, sensor has a glass sealing on top, it can be cleaned quite easily with the right tools, wheras shutter might easily be the most fragile piece in your entire camera body and should always be avoid to be touched. Having that fragile piece exposed when changing glasses would honestly creep me out. Also when you get dust on your shutter instead of your sensor, while you're in the field, never even think about cleaning it on the spot, too risky. So after continuing using your cam the shutter will be executed and that dust will be thrown around in the chamber and eventually end up on your sensor anyways. Imho that function is a marketing gag and indeed risks, like @J R noted, of being detriment to the shutter. And don't get me wrong, it's nothing against the A7iv itself, I own the camera and it is a fantastic piece of tech that I do not want to miss anymore.
First one was really helpful for me, thank you!

you can change this in the blue playback menu - 2 Magnification
Closing shutter is worse for the camera in my option. The shutter is much more fragile than the sensor. Exposing it is a bad idea
Machst du immer ein Video in deutsch und dann in Englisch ?
Nein normal nicht, aber es haben mich viele englische User gefragt ob ich eine englische Version davon machen könnte.
Advise: Do not enable sensor protection curtain (unless in emergencies) as it will be a detriment to the shutter in the long term.
How so?
