    Almost every comment is happy to see you back again and I can only repeat that. I've missed your videos over the last year. The way you do things and explain what you are doing is really helpful to anyone with less experience in repair work and the range of tools that you've made is always interesting to see. It sounds like you've been really busy with repairing vehicles since your last video and hopefully your videos will be more regular now. How's the Chevy truck going? It's been a long time since you uploaded a video on that one. Looking forward to your next video. All the best from Queensland Australia.

    • @fix206
      @fix206  2 года назад +1

      Thank you Bruce, I started to worry after a couple of days that I've not seen a comment from you once this video got posted. I'm happy to hear back from you because that means that all is well with you on your end. It's been a good and productive year for me. I'm thinking at this point I would like to change my daily schedule around a bit, because I really want the channel to grow but there is no way for the growth if I I'm not posting. Plus the 2 TB hard drive that I was dumping all of my new video material onto is full, and I was thinking to myself: "What good is all this material if I just collect it while no one gets to see it..." So I made a conscious effort to get the last video edited and uploaded. It took a good bit of work and time, but once it was posted and all the positive comments started rolling in I did not want to stop. Hopefully I'll have the next video done this coming week so I can have it released early Sunday morning.
      As far as the Chevy truck goes, I've gathered some more parts for it over the winter and also got some new tools that will for sure be helpful with that rebuild. I knew from the get-go that this project is going to take some time to complete, because I want to take my time to get it done right, but at the same time this is not the type of a project that will pay the bills, it's going to be a personal vehicle, a fun weekend cruiser, something I would enjoy taking to car shows in the summer. I will be revisiting this project from time to time, posting updates as I get more work done on it once I get little more free time. Therefore work that pays the bills comes first, good thing about most of the work that I do is all autobody related and that's the stuff I've been working on and filming over the past year so there's gonna be a lot of fun, interesting videos that I will be posting in the coming weeks....

    • @BrucePierson
      @BrucePierson 2 года назад

      @@fix206 That's all good news and really glad that you'll be posting more videos soon. I hope you have at least two copies of all those videos on that 2TB HDD. I usually have three copies of my data, one on my laptop and two on external 2TB HDDs. Some years ago when I was using 1TB HDDs for backup, I had one HDD fail and one got corrupted, leaving only one good copy, so I was then able to format the corrupted HDD and replace the dead one and restore the backups. It would be a disaster if you lost all those videos after all that work.

    • @fix206
      @fix206  2 года назад

      You are right about that, it would be a disaster if I lost all of that footage. Several years ago I took a part in a World War II reenactment which was one of the coolest things that I think I've ever done. Had a lot of photos from that event stored on a hard drive and one day the hard drive just died. Luckily I have had copies of some of the pictures saved elsewhere, but majority of the pictures remained on the doomed HD. It is a solid state hard drive so I'm not sure if any of the material could be retrieved from it. I do have a couple of other spare hard drives that I should copy of all of my material to just to be on the safe side because you never know :-)

    • @BrucePierson
      @BrucePierson 2 года назад

      @@fix206 Definitely make several copies of your videos, because you never know when a HDD will fail without notice. I'm not sure what you could do with the SSD to get the data back yourself without sending the drive to a specialist recovery company ($$$$$$). However, as it's likely that it's the controller that failed, it's possible that the data may still be intact on the static RAM, so if there is a way to read that RAM with some reader, then it might be possible to recover the data. I remember in past videos that you've removed chips from an instrument cluster and an airbag module and read and made changes to the data, so if you can find a device that will accept the RAM chip(s) then there could be a way to possibly recover the data. If you do find a way and you can recover the data, it would make a very interesting video. I've never dismantled an SSD (I only have one in my laptop) so I don't know how they are constructed or what's inside one, but maybe it's a possibility.

      Happy new year Bruce !! I do get on the computer couple of times a week to check on the channel and respond to messages, but not much editing... Always have projects in the works aside from main work. Right now I'm in the process on building a Budget CNC plasma cutting setup, as always I'm filming every step of the way and at some point I'll have the video of the build posted :)

      @@fix206 Looking forward to seeing your CNC project when you can upload the video. Hoping to see your son's red truck final video where it's all finished too. Then there's the 48 Chevy truck on the C10 frame which hopefully you've been filming the progress on, not to mention the other rebuilds that you showed in your last video. Sounds like you need someone to help with video editing so you can get all your videos uploaded.

      You have so much going on and many viewers and commenters that you most likely have temporarily forgot. You and talked about it on one of your video comment sections. My Son and I put one together for his Science Project at his school. This was in the midst of the covid scare. He did very well in the State and I really believe he would have won 1st in his event division, if he had been allowed to demonstrate it. I think he won third but I can't remember for sure, either, lol. The event was a virtual deal by computer and he was not allowed to demonstrate the spotter in use. He gave you credit for the build.

    I was wondering why you didn't mask before priming . then saw that you painted the whole side
    I'm doing an area like the lower quarter panel you did on the rolls Royce . I need to k ow how to mask so I don't have sharp lines and everything looks blended nicely . can you please advise
    Yes I'm subscribed and I looked . right now I'm getting everything masked for primer
    Can you explain what is backmasking ?

    • @fix206
      @fix206  Год назад +1

      I tried typing out the explanation for backmasking a couple of times but I don't think I can explain it well enough as I type it out.. I'll have to show and explain it little better in one of my later videos. But another way not to end up with a sharp primer line is simply by putting your masking paper little further out from your repair area. This way as your prime, the primer will land into the immediate repair area and also just slightly outside of it but not far enough to where it would build over the masking tape/paper... Just mask off anything that you don't want the primer overspray to land on, pushing your masking paper a bit further out of your work area isn't a big of a deal... Hopefully my explanation made sense :-)
