    I am new to the hobby, 1 year in, built 5 quads, (4) Martian 2’s with betaflight, now Butterflight, and after watching your RUclips videos, thought I would spend the money and build an alien with all your older set kiss hardware, 24amp esc’s, kiss v1 flight control, Steele pdb, hs177, and used your previously posted pods, and idle up settings, and it flys literally 2 to 3 times better then any of the martians! I cannot believe the difference! I felt instantly more comfortable piloting it, able to control the quad way more accurately, I’m a little nervous to get too adventurous with some new moves only because I don’t want to damage this quad in a rookie crash. Thank you sooo much for all the alien videos!!!

    Glad your posting again. I laid my BMX bike down after 19 years and was depressed for 2 years until I stumbled upon a video of yours a year and half ago. Now it's my life!!!! Thank You!

      I find it odd that your story is the exact same as mine. I used to ride a custom PremiumBikes Deathtrap. Then I clicked some Steele video because it wouldnt get out of my recommended. Thank you RUclips and Steele!

      UFDA Crew it is such a fun hobby. I’ve been addicted to it since buying a cheap camera drone that I would fly around trees and stuff like I was racing. I didn’t even know about racing/freestyle fpv drones until I found some of his videos and others and I thought that’s what I want. Cheers.

    Steele I am sorry. I recently made a semi-negative comment about this video. I said it seemed like this was a chore for you and not something you wanted to do. I am sorry for this and just want you to know I appreciate all you do and your positive impact on the community. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos which impact us all. Thank you!!

    What I like about your gear is that you aren't going for the 'latest' gear at all. You run what appeals to you and eff the noise. Solid advice.

    Thanks for taking the time to make a video that may seem lame/dull to a pro like you lol it's a huge help for noobs like me to get field ready for the mountains.
    This video gave me the idea to use a tactical style hiking pack. Literally thousands of styles online and the mollie loop/straps are always useful

    I try to reduce setup time as much as possible . goggle battery and lanyard together in an outside pocket(I run a long cable to the goggle from my pocket for now) TXand goggle cases not zipped shut, goggle antennas stay on or are loose and tilted down, and and i sometimes do "one in the chamber." first battery on the quad already. (looks like you had one ready.)
    And come to Ms :)

    Appreciate the topic. Its good to know about the redundancy. Expect a mistake or a problem and already have it covered. The field fix and the soldering iron is some serious good stuff to share. Subd a s well. I ve been flying a tiny fpv whoop indoors for last month. Have two quick drones real stuff to take out flying soon once I get Betafligh , pids and Taranis x9d figured out. Cant wait to go acro.

    I’m just getting into building drones. Watched a lot of videos and have read several things online as well. Hope your custom Taranis is back in stock soon. If not, I’ll buy a stock taranis and mod it myself. That will be my first purchase as I dive into all this stuff. I’ll be downloading some simulators to start the journey. Thanks for all your knowledge, as it is priceless. Truly awesome. Hopefully I’ll be able to enter some competitions in a year or two. Have a good week and cheers! 🍻

    Mr Steele, what kind of microphone do you use on the quad? I'm trying to decide on a VTX for a 550 hex and I want audio on board. Should I go with a VTX with a built in mic or add a mic to a VTX without one? Thanks for all of the work that you do.

  • @GabrielLarke
    @GabrielLarke 7 лет назад

    Hey Steele! I just found out that you need to trim 7.5mm from Crossfire micro antennas with the black heat shrink to tune properly for 915MHz. I think that's likely been the cause of some reception issues. If you have white heat shrink no mod needed :)

    Nice kit Steele . What about field charging? Are You fan of small isdt chargers? What about decent power bank & oled isdt battery checker? Works great and it's super fast to check Your lipos. Those pipe caps You can buy on banggood dirt cheap. Good idea with props. I'm running Hobby King elite backpack. Works great for FPV quads and it's Huge + it's strong & virtually weatherproof

      I never field charge. I use to just carry 20 lipos with me if I wanted a full day of flying

    I'd love to see you add up all the gear in your bag and put a dollar amount on it. You're seriously carrying thousands of dollars of gear with you, it would put into perspective what a pro pilot has to carry around with him at all times.
