Needless to say he took the jacket tie vest and shirt off after playing Would the first song to start the show! Very charismatic singer and great stage presence! Great docu❣️ Have to add that Toby wright told in an interview he was on his way when the news came on the radio about laynes passing. He was going to record laynes vocals for a song for the band taproot. The interview is on daniel sarkissians channel here on youtube. Seemed like there was still a will to live, but his body was done.
Unfortunately, the chase for that 1st time high eventually takes a back seat to the daily struggles of just trying to "get well." I'm ashamed to admit it but that hellish chase can persist for years.

Phenomenal, distinctive, powerful, a band that pretty much is their own genre. The Layne/Jerry vocal combo, unmistakable in every sense of the word. Awesome to see all that early footage.
AIC pulled from a place of creativity that very few bands can draw from. The most hauntingly melodic heavy All wrapped up in one badass soul felt musical unit.. lane has the most powerful voice I've ever heard, and when lane and Jerry harmonize it's untouchable IMHO. Straight up f'ing amazing. There writing is straight up otherworldly 👍👍 there's only one AIC, Jerry's Solo work is awesome as well 👍👍 .. even though I'm a shredder guitarist type of musician, and that's normally the type of stuff I write and draw from so to speak, i can listen to AIC over and over and never get bored or fill disconnected, damn I love these badass mofos.. it's really strange but lanes voice inspires the crap out of my guitar playing etc.
👍🏻🎸 AIC is my favourite band still..I've always felt they should have gotten the attention Nirvana received they're just as good,.if not better than Nirvana.
I’m an AiC fan through and through and it includes Layne and William. Do I miss Layne? Yep. There really was no saving him, he essentially disappeared and had little to no contact with anyone shortly after the Unplugged. Jerry has even said basically the band was done at that point because of Layne’s addiction. They stayed dormant for awhile after that and after the reunion and one-off shows it seemed to re-ignite the remaining three members of that band and wanting to continue playing their music for their fans. I 100% respect that and also respect and recognize that AiC was not just “Layne’s band”, it belonged to them all. And Jerry was/is a big part of that band. Unfortunately Layne was sick and went down the rabbit hole of addiction. It’s been documented that they tried to help him but he didn’t want it. McCready tried with Mad Season. I love their old stuff and think the new stuff is great as well. If Jerry, Inez and Kinney decide to continue their band with William I’m totally fine with it. I don’t think the remaining members of that band should’ve ended it or renamed themselves. It’s their band, people kinda need to get over it. It’s totally fine if your a Layne era fan and not the current line-up but ultimately Cantrell, Inez and Kinney still have a say in continuing as AiC. Thanks for posting this doc…I hope everyone else has a great day. 🤘🏼
You know it wasn't all about Layne's habits. Jerry didn't get clean till 2000, and Sean didn't quit drinking till 2002. If you read enough older interviews they were all pretty fkd up on something and they admitted it. Jerry fell down a hill into a fkn briar patch or something trying to escape from his brother and Sean who were at his front door wanting him to go to rehab.
Love this. Thank u so much for putting together, everything was really well selected to represent the different stages of their career. From rare footage, performances & interviews, this was a great watch. Respect. We love & miss u, dearly departed legends :'( And hails to the rest of the band for continuing the music legacy. It's 2am and I'm 10 minutes in...doesn't look like I'll be sleeping much tonight . Wow! I grew up in Bellevue the same time as Layne, always wondered if I ever ran into out riding around the town.
Miss Layne and his antics so much for someone I never met. Favorite singer of favorite band ever ( I heard Beatles and Stones debut from my crib and on up) Music would be so different if he and Chris hadn't died.
I'll always have the memories of seeing Layne wearing a light blue suit despite the evening heat at Metrolina Fairgrounds in Charlotte, NC - Lollapalooza '93! Primus was the headliner but after AIC left the stage a majority of the huge crowd headed towards exits to begin the search for their rides. RIP Brothers...

Had to think for sec - that makes sense/ that's around the timeline Man In the Box was beginning to take off. 3 yrs down the road it would've been flipped with Alice in Chains wouldve been the bigger band without a doubt. And Primus was a band either u loved what they were doing or u were annoyed by their music. Mostly, it was many didn't get their music and was probably still stuck in their Bon Jovi faze...

Oh my God that's such a different look for a Laney where the hell is it going at the beginning of the song that was heavy metal I knew he had it in😮 him. I would have never left you behind Laney
If I could reach through my screen and pull Layne and Mike out of this video footage from MTV when they're giving the backstage bus tour, to tell them what their future is going to be and stop them from self-destructing. I would do it in a heartbeat! I wish I could go back in time and tell them what their future is going to be if they pick up that damn needle. I would! I wish I could.
❤ I agree 💯 percent, and so does today's Alice in Chains including William Duvall... I saw them 2 years ago in September of 2022, here in Louisville Kentucky at Louder than Life... They were amazing. William was amazing, but just like they ask said, no one is trying to replace Layne that he's not replaceable... they pretty much thought the band was over after Laynes death, however Layne "from Heaven, " had other plans for them... "strictly my opinion," but I believe he chose William for them...❤ They met William and they were all just hanging out "jamming" and messing around and Williams voice just fit/hit with them all. Also, we all need to keep in mind that this is what these guys did, or was their passion, and life without living your passion is literally a feeling of just existing... most people just exist. ❤ I'm 💯 percent happy for them, and I'm thrilled myself that they are still around doing their thing. I cried when I got my tickets to see them, that's how much this band means to me and how much they believe in themselves, it's pretty f**king amazing. ❤
I feel like the band members somehow feel that they could of done something but they didn't know how heroin worked. A very painful withdrawal from heroin and if you go without for a day or two u will feel very sick and uncomfortable and can't move so it was bad for Layne because he had lots of money so he let the heroin control him until he was sucked in and looked like a eighty year old man we all seen him and nobody did anything but look at him die more and more.
I wish I could reach through my screen and pull out lane and Mike and let them know what their future looks like if they pick up the needle, I would do it in a heartbeat! To see them so happy and young and joyful is heartwarming. I want to be able to go back in time and show them the footage of what happens to them and save them.

I would do it in a heartbeat! I wish I could go back in time and tell them what their future is going to be if they pick up that damn needle. I would! I wish I could.
@@JessicaC.I feel the same way!
Yeah they got better.
"strictly my opinion," but I believe he chose William for them...❤
They met William and they were all just hanging out "jamming" and messing around and Williams voice just fit/hit with them all. ❤
I forgot how good they were...
I love how Laynes like I become some kind of rock guy 😂
🥲 beautiful 🖤🫶
Still love Layne Staley!
love! ty for posting eh.. ❤
I know because I went through it myself and somehow I was able to beat the addiction. Only one percent male it past that heroin pain . 😢😢
Thank you
Jerry in that speedo!!! ❤
88 chains was so much better still in the glam but seriously it was rock music of the time but Jerry riffs made it so much better
Jerrys unstickered original G&L at 10:30
I feel like the band members somehow feel that they could of done something but they didn't know how heroin worked.
A+, buddy
LOVE THIS
I wish I could reach through my screen and pull out lane and Mike and let them know what their future looks like if they pick up the needle, I would do it in a heartbeat! To see them so happy and young and joyful is heartwarming. I want to be able to go back in time and show them the footage of what happens to them and save them.
@@JessicaC. me too

August 22nd hell yeah. I'm the 16th
I understand exactly what you mean. I have the same spooky similarities with Cobain. It's crazy!
What future plans do you have for videos? I see your name is AiC theory, is it gonna be based on Alice In Chains?
