I like to think this struck a nerve with Sauron; after years of being Morgoth’s war dog, being told to submit and be in service again was probably a sore spot from him, being told that by a mortal man no less. Because immediately after Arthas said "You serve me now!", Sauron proceeds to show Arthas _exactly_ how he will kill him, then shatters Frostmourne in a single heavy blow, commands his spirits to juggle Arthas like a toy within a fiery vortex, and then devours Arthas' soul while stealing the man's throne at the same time. Because Sauron was _born_ as an angelic divine being, and he doesn't exactly have fond memories of being Morgoth's war dog or kowtowing to other Maiar/Valar... so having this mortal-turned-undead man dare to try commanding a fallen god was possibly _the one thing_ Arthas could've done to seriously offend him. The reason Death Battle is taking so long to create new full fledged episodes as opposed to these fight animation reuploads is because their parent company, Rooster Teeth, shut down, and now the show has gone indie. They set up a Kickstarter campaign to help them fund the new episodes, the first of which comes out October 6th of this year. They've also announced a bunch of matchups that are confirmed for the show: - Kratos VS Asura (God of War VS Asura’s Wrath) - Bowser VS Eggman (Mario VS Sonic) - Omni-Man VS Bardock (Invincible VS Dragon Ball) - Ash VS Yugi (Pokémon VS Yu-Gi-Oh) - Ruby VS Maka (RWBY VS Soul Eater) - Mahito VS Shigaraki (Jujutsu Kaisen VS My Hero Academia) - Kyle Rayner VS Simon the Digger (DC VS Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann) - Aang VS Traveller (Avatar: The Last Airbender VS Genshin Impact) - Hulk VS Godzilla (Marvel VS Godzilla) - Gru VS Megamind (Despicable Me VS Megamind)
I would support them if they got rid of their dumb rules that influence the battles too much. In so many battles, the wrong person won purely because of those nonsensical rules. Not that my support matters that much, but it is still annoying.
I am deeply familiar with both universes, and in my opinion it is unlikely that Sauron can win this duel. For starters, Sauron's main skill is deception, manipulation and his main magic item is a ring of control, focused on controlling at a distance, plus he is often described as a “sorcerer”. He rarely seeks direct confrontation and that has a reason. On the scale of Tolkien's universe just for being a Maiar he is very powerful, but neither his known actions nor his behavior are typical of a duelist. It should be remembered that when Morgoth, who was a “duelist” with great combat power, was defeated, Sauron apologized, fled and hid. On the other hand we have the Lich King version Arthas. He is an ex-paladin, his main objects are a crown of domination (magical power) and a sword that devours souls (physical power). During his ascent he has been defeating duelists one after another, some with millennia of experience. They also give him the advantage of the terrain, it is known that the lich king is more powerful on his throne than anywhere else. In my opinion, if there were a rivalry between these two characters, Sauron would try to bend the will of the lich king by manipulation, and if he could not, he would trick other powers into defeating him. In a direct combat, as much as I like Tolkien and Sauron, it is unreasonable for him to win. I repeat, this is my opinion, and I don't want to convince or offend anyone xD
It’s not a matter of opinion. What makes Sauron so powerful simply doesn’t affect the Lich King, whereas what makes the Lich King powerful would work on Sauron. Even if Sauron were stronger than the Lich King, he still wouldn’t be able to defeat him in any way. Even if Sauron avoided direct confrontation and tried to manipulate others to get to Arthas, Arthas would just go to him. The Scourge is vastly more powerful than Sauron’s forces.
The lich king has no chance against sauron, sargerus would be alot more even. The lich king can't even change forms. Did you not see sauron blow the volcano with his will? The lich king wouldn't even be much stronger than a death knight without frostmourne. Sauron is a lesser god
@@byeoocgI'm sorry, but Sauron doesn’t even come close to Sargeras. Sargeras only needs to sneeze to defeat Sauron. Sauron is more comparable to a lesser Titan in the WoW universe, which isn’t that strong and certainly not on par with a peak Titan capable of destroying a planet with a single attack. The Lich King is far stronger than a death knight even without frostmourne. Sapphiron, who was described as 'magnificently powerful,' was killed by the Lich King, who was not much weaker than Malygos, who had enough power to destroy Azeroth multiple times, this was all before the Frostmourne Amps. After Frostmourne's Amps, the Lich King defeated post-Skull Illidan, who had blown Nathreza apart, which was an entire planet, and this still isn't peak Arthas. Arthas magic and weapon is far superior to Sauron. Yes, Maiar are lesser gods in Tolkien’s universe, but they aren’t particularly special or strong in Azeroth.
@@Maeve-gt4oy You forgot to mention that all Valar and Mair are limited in their world by the will of Eru. It is not known what would have happened if Myron had no restrictions; in the world of Warcraft, he must have his original power, which he possessed at the creation of the world. Melkor without limits at his peak was stronger than all the Valar combined.

@TheMagicienWorld yes but keep in mind someone saurons level of strength died to a elf, drowning in a fountain. And in the books Sauron had a fight with a normal elf and a normal dude, he beat them but it took a HOT MIN. That was with the ring too. Sauron, is not a fighter, never has been even since the war of wrath. His greatest weakness is he is over confident, he has NEVER fought something as powerful as the Lich king, keep in mind in all respects the Lich King was a master swordsman, and had the powers of a death god. They ignored all of this, Arthas should of won with pure swordsman ship alone.
As a lotr fan and a wow fan... this is a very cool battle... but if you know anything about WoW lore, the moment Arthas stabs Sauron with Frostmourne the battle is over. Frostmourne is fully capable of ripping a gods soul in half much less a maiar.
This fight made me become a much bigger fan of Sauron and hope that one day he appears in Multiversus, as well as making me want to buy the Lord of the Rings books.
You should, there's LOTS they couldn't put in the movies for time, even in the extended cuts (with the most well known example being Tom Bombadill). In fact, each book has enough to have their own trilogy.
Sauron has broken legendary blades before, and was over twice as strong as Arthas, so it’s reasonable he has the strength to destroy Frostmourne. Also, Sauron’s command over souls would be able to capitalise on the released souls.

Sauron VS Ganondorf sounds like it would make for an amazing episode

I absolutely love this episode cause they truly nailed Sauron’s personality.
Oh they absolutely nailed Sauron. He was perfect here.
This, to me, was the best 3D fight of that season. They went full-tilt with it and I really approve of that.
This took the battle of Fire and Ice into a whole different ball game. It was awesome.
2:13 Megatron: "I Belong to NOBODY!"
The shot of the fire falling on the throne of ice while the two clashed is nothing short of incredible!
They've also announced a bunch of matchups that are confirmed for the show:
- Kratos VS Asura (God of War VS Asura’s Wrath)
- Bowser VS Eggman (Mario VS Sonic)
- Omni-Man VS Bardock (Invincible VS Dragon Ball)
- Ash VS Yugi (Pokémon VS Yu-Gi-Oh)
- Ruby VS Maka (RWBY VS Soul Eater)
- Mahito VS Shigaraki (Jujutsu Kaisen VS My Hero Academia)
- Kyle Rayner VS Simon the Digger (DC VS Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann)
- Aang VS Traveller (Avatar: The Last Airbender VS Genshin Impact)
- Hulk VS Godzilla (Marvel VS Godzilla)
- Gru VS Megamind (Despicable Me VS Megamind)
there's also Wile E Coyote VS Tom The Cat (Looney Tunes VS Tom & Jerry) and Light VS Columbo (Death Note VS Columbo)
@@nikolitroikaledesmaescando6291Note: Light vs Columbo isn't a traditional episode. They're supposedly doing something different for that one.
Cant wait for the Carl VS Coach McGurk (Aqua Teen Hunger Force VS Home Movies) Death Battle!
I would support them if they got rid of their dumb rules that influence the battles too much. In so many battles, the wrong person won purely because of those nonsensical rules.
Not that my support matters that much, but it is still annoying.

Shao Kahn VS Akuma Epic Fight of DEATH BATTLE.
Guys hear me out
I think they actually might be friends
Imagine if a Warcraft raid party suddenly walked in on Sauron and the Lich King fighting.
Also didn't Tolkien outright say that Sauron is pretty much destined to lose in a physical encounter?
Still the best Death Battle. No other Death Battle got me more excited and more immersed :D

This was an awesome 3D animated fight between Sauron and Lich King
Man this is so well made !!!
As much as I wanted the Lich King to win... Yeah it had to be Sauron
I mean not really they ignored 60% of yhe lich kings abilities and overpowered saurons abilities. This was biased against the lich king lol
As much as I adore Arthas over Sauron. The Lich King is just a glorified warlock, Sauron is a demi god

So? Sauron is beyond logical frameworks 🥶
Agreed 👍🏻

The only highlight for Lord of The Rings right now

Sauron shadow looming over the licht king really showing you how Sauron does views mortal men..like ants to be crushed
So let’s be real, here: the distance The One Ring from Mount Doom was the true deciding factor, here, right?
This fight made me become a much bigger fan of Sauron and hope that one day he appears in Multiversus, as well as making me want to buy the Lord of the Rings books.
You should, there's LOTS they couldn't put in the movies for time, even in the extended cuts (with the most well known example being Tom Bombadill). In fact, each book has enough to have their own trilogy.
Wow I love the concept !❤❤
BS , no way frostmoure would have shattered that way and if it even did crack the amount of souls pouring out would have been another way he be dead
Would've Crack easier with holy weapons vs no holy weapons
Sauron has broken legendary blades before, and was over twice as strong as Arthas, so it’s reasonable he has the strength to destroy Frostmourne.
Also, Sauron’s command over souls would be able to capitalise on the released souls.
Who else was rooting for the Ice King purely because they despise heat?
