So dope I've always loved the Shamisen's sound and it works really well with the tap dancing and bass of that drum. It almost sounds like a Hip-hop beat.
God, this is brilliant! I've never heard the Shamisen played in such an up-tempo, jazz-influenced style... Anyone know of any links to more of their stuff?
OMB! (Oh My buddha!) F... Awsome! That bass from the drum really put it together. The instrument is nicely done and also still have room for more instrument if they want to. That is nice. Thanks for the post...
That was some good tap dancing. I loved music accompaniement. the dance was the bomb!!!! I started tap when I was 40 years old, had no idea of the intense training it entalied. You guys are very good tappers.
They're called The Stripes I think. And they're sooo good. They also did the 'famous' ending tapdance in Zatoichi! (you must see that one, it's great!) (ps- correct me if I'm wrong xD)
Blown away by this video, the Vancouver Chinese Music Ensemble will be responding with a concert on May 26, 2012 at the Chinese Garden. Come check out what happens when creativity snowballs and inspires others. Taps and Twang: Strumming Drumming and Tapping of bluegrass banjo, Chinese banjo and contemporary tap dance.
AMAZING !!!. "The Stripes", the first dancer name:HIDEBOH. The finest japanese tap dancer i've seen. The best. The other 2 dancers were HIDEBOH students: RON×! and SUJI. The percussionist: Noriyasu.(he is a tapdancer too). I have a full dance concert video in tokio named ... ZATOICHI SHOW. I will share you but ...please... share me the originial wmv or avi file of this posted shamisen vs.tap video. please. Thanks. !!!

Tsugaru-jamisen. You can tell them apart because the Tsugaru-style's neck, strings and tuning pegs are thicker and heavier. The style's very different, too. You couldn't slam the pick onto a Nagauta like that; it'd snap it in half!
10 years. still watching this.
Truly amazing talent and an amazing performance! BRAVO!

5 stars indeed.
So dope
I've always loved the Shamisen's sound and it works really well with the tap dancing and bass of that drum. It almost sounds like a Hip-hop beat.
