Watching the video, I noticed that Blackbat’s pet bat is a common vampire bat, which adds an interesting layer of subtext. The theme of friendship towards outsiders works well with such an animal because 1) they are feared and loathed, despite never feeding on human blood (it’s very unhealthy), and 2) they are native to South America. This bat he’s palling up is a literal outsider, an animal that was likely taken out of its home habitat by poachers to be kept as a novelty by an LA gangster. Was this but intended? Probably not.

Stan Lee of Marvel. Marvel having many Batman-like characters that only need a detail or two altered like: Moon Knight, Punisher, Iron Man, Black Panther, Doctor Doom (yes, he IS Batman-like in his own twisted way), Captain America, Nick Fury, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. Each of them could easily be tweaked in his/her basics to being a perfect Marvel Comics Batman. I expected Stan Lee to knock it out of the park. He did make his Batman a hero, no shade there. Did he make his Batman a genius of every kind with virtually unlimited resources who is a master of an insane number of martial arts? Nope. He merely has celebrity fame wrestler money compounded by business ventures with the perceived fighting talents of a professional wrestler with most of his talents being more like plot armor than any kind of character sense. He knocked it out of the park by having him come from a completely different origin, I'll give him that... but he is a B or C class comic book hero who is best as a support cast character. I mean, he could have tweaked Black Panther into having his origin like his original character who, via besting underworld enemies, became super-rich in the vibranium trade to become the USA bat-costume version of Black Panther... who was the best Marvel equal to Batman, by the way. Hell, he could have even made a rags-to-riches version of Tony Stark but in Batman form if he wished. Stan Lee made his Batman the kind of guy on a superhero team that's killed first because he's in waaaaaayyyy over his head. Maybe I was too harsh because I expected Stan Lee to make a superior version of Batman because I favored Marvel Comics over DC because it tended to have better and more complex stories. I know Stan Lee did not set out to do that but it seemed like he intentionally made a B, C, or even D version of Batman to avoid enraging Batman fans by making a fan-favorite alternative Batman.
