Perlman's fiddle is very close-miked which exposes every single bowing. What is remarkable is how incredibly crisp and vibrant those fantastic fast runs are - not a single note glossed over. Wonderful sound, wonderful musicality. A rare gem.
An EXCELLENT recording of the entire Concerto (Itzak performing with the Phila Orchestra -- circa 1980) can be found at ruclips.net/video/CTE08SS8fNk/видео.html&start_radio=1&t=1586
It is incredible. I have listened this concert thousand of time from many different violinists. During many years Heifetz was my favourite for this concert but after watching this playing I have to place Perlman in first place without any doubt.
How could anyone dislike this, he doesn't even look at what he is doing. ALL of that is known by heart, he doesn't just play the music, he feels every note. Spectacular..
All violinists can play without looking at what they're doing. Everyone who plays this concerto knows it by heart, including every violin student at any music school.
I had the priviledge to see him play twice and last time even met with him. I cannot play the violin but the joy he brings me and certainly many others make him trully a blessed person.
What's really striking is that he controls the bow at ANY part of it (to me the most difficult parts to control were near the frog and near the tip, especially in fast tempi). Truly amazing 👍👍👍 He must've had an exceptionally good teacher early on 👍
There is a Japanese power metal band by the name of Galneryus. In their album, Angel of Salvation, the 14-minute long title track "Angel of Salvation" contains two guitar solos. The second guitar solo is a guitar version of the section at 0:50 in this piece and it is awesome
This is my favorite concert, and I must say that the best violinist for it is, in my opinion, Itzhak Perlman. The reason is that there are some violin sounds when he performs that are so unique. Thank you very much for this video!
Ohh.. Thank you very much for the HQ version!. Tchaikovsky+Perlman is an unbeatable combination. I really don't know how many times i have viewed this, but still i get that freshness as if i am hearing it for the first time. These musicians are a real treasure to our world. I love you Mr.Perlman. May god bless you
What more proof of the genius that was Tchaikovsky could be needed all of the pathos and passion pours from this magnificent work. One of the worlds great composers
Of course everyone does, but the degree of "mistakes" is so small at this level that it does not detract at all from the performance. Wonderful playing my favorite violinist ever.
I just can't get over this video; I LOVE IT SO MUCH. This is probably one of the best performances of this concerto out there. Perlman just has a talent for making music exciting, not to mention that he is probably one of the best technical players alive today.
See the tonal quality of his violin and its power. Its really heard and is standing out from the crowd of other Violins, Cello's and Double Basses. Great performance, great work
Facial expression is important for singers, but it's also helpful for instruments. I love Mr. Perlman's expression at 0:41. Embodies the tone of the piece at that particular moment.
I was lucky enough to see him play at , what used to be called the "Robin hood Dell", an open air theater in Philadelphia, way back in the 70's? The same with PAVAROTTI, before they became VERY FAMOUS !
😱 ❤Formidable sublile celestial
Even as the world’s best violin, it’s still clear that this piece is challenging. He may not be looking at what he’s doing, but he’s listening to his playing to make sure he’s playing it correctly. This piece is incredibly challenging for even the best violinists. For awhile it was considered unplayable because of how it was written.
I'm 18 and I used to think older people were exaggerating a bit when they said nothing compares to classical music. I always thought they were a bit outdated, even though I did like some classical pieces. but after seeing Itzhak play Beethoven and Tchaikovsky I see how wrong I was. The only modern music which I might compare, for a whole different reason is Lindsey Stirling's music. But I think the reason I like her music slightly more is because of HER. she herself is awesome

And his bowing is incredible....wow...
Can anyone tell me what approximate
Year this was recorded?
He IS a JEM,
That's for sure!!
Miked where???
It was recorded in 1990.
It is incredible.
I have listened this concert thousand of time from many different violinists. During many years Heifetz was my favourite for this concert but after watching this playing I have to place Perlman in first place without any doubt.
maxim mironov rocks at this. perlman could have been more expressive esp the last part.
Please show us all/play how it could've been better. Thank you in advance.
Do they know they are in the presence of a legend?
think they realized when he started playing lol
Until the applause at the end, I thought they were all dead.
Hope so..
yes obviously 💀
How could anyone dislike this, he doesn't even look at what he is doing. ALL of that is known by heart, he doesn't just play the music, he feels every note. Spectacular..

Unique!!! How I admire this man! His right-arm-technique is very special, but above all his personality is so charming. What a performance!
Beautiful! Itzhak is my favorite!! He completely masters the technical difficulty of Tchaikovsky! Excellent!
A true genius always makes it looks so easy...
Exactly
His faceexpressions Are Great. As if he has the fun of His life
Aye, he's reacting to his own play
Yeah, he looks ecstatic
I can't imagine how fun it would be to play if you could play that well.
His faceexpression depends of what he plays. He live with music. Very well played!!!!!!
He said in a interview one time he couldn't live without the violin. I feel the same way.
aw he's so happy :3
phenomenal! A sparkling masterpiece played with passion, humor and stunning virtuosity.
You vocabulary is fucking spectacular ! Only your words described this fuckin video masterpiece..

This band is totally awesome and this music more

I respect your opinions but you may find a new favorite after listening to Mischa Elman's playing :) it is super unique and beautiful >.
I love Tchaikovsky I love Ithzak Perlman and I am happy. Thank you Maestro Ithzak Perlman ♥️
I love watching him perform! Such expression and pleasure from playing that beautiful instrument.
His sautiee is the pinnacle of perfection.
The way he handles the bow....simply incredible...
This is one of the best things I've ever seen in my entire existence
he is yust a perfect violinist plays it so soft but strong and confident there is only one itzak perlman
So now you know what heaven looks like!
I listen to this song every day
It's been 7 years so I suppose you already know it's called a piece?
The best violinist that plays the best concerto (well let's say 'my favourite') on the best violin ever... How could it be better ?
It can't! xD
jean de la croix when you wonder if something can be even better in violin... the answer is always... "Jascha Heifetz" 😂
lfour ewe I don't think so, I prefer this version
The man is amazing!! I love the violin and the way he makes it sing is genius. Beautifully played...simply beautiful.
I've seen Mr. Perlman in concert a few times and his facial expressions are definitely a treat.

Amazing bow control!!!
It is! Wow....just wow...
I love how he's always smiling ^_^ You can tell that he really loves what he does
I think that PERLMAN is the best violinist at present and his Stradivarius is a masterpeace
I love perlman!!! he is the most skilled violinist!!!! He is The first violinist in the eart and the first violinist in my heart!! W perlman!!
The best interpretation I've listened!!! Fantastic!
Facial expression is important for singers, but it's also helpful for instruments. I love Mr. Perlman's expression at 0:41. Embodies the tone of the piece at that particular moment.
Zubin Mehta is an exceptional maestro and Pearlman is just a jewel, bravo.
Oh, Mehta is another great musician. And they're good friends
how the hell does he manage to control his bow bounce? usually people try to avoid having their bow bounce, but Itzhak uses it to his advantage
speechless...he's the best..

He looks like he's thoroughly enjoying himself! That made it even better to watch
Thanks for uploading!
Absolutely breathtaking!
The best passion in a violinist.
I could watch him for HOURS
Incredible. Makes you want to leap from your seat!
Itzchak Perlman is the best violinist I ever know.
✡️✡️❤️
This guy busts ass at violin, damn.
i alwais cry when he is playing
Terrific, as always
agreed! Nobody plays it like Perlman. His recording of it has a permanent position in my iPod.
Others play the violin, Perlman is the violin! Brilliant!
An epic record! Thanks for share it!

Classical music is underrated
It is, indeed. Exhibition and sideshow "musicians" are much more appreciated "artists".
Well, that's the world today.
he looks like he's enjoying himself in the music :) i like that
May you all have this much fun in your work.
Just LOOK at him, he's enjoying every second of that just as much as I am :)
It's like he's sleeping, but having a good dream. That's how easy he makes it look.

homie did his own thang, can't argue nuthin' bout dat
This is soooo fkn heavy metal without the distortion 😈🤘
I hope Heaven sounds as good.
Tears. This is better than anything.
It's done mainly with sautillé - a form of spicatto - and collé, used to accentuate certain notes. Hope this helps.
I listened to the Bruch one today!! I feel that Heifetz, for the most part, was far more suited to play romantic era stuff like that (except the Tchaikovsky I guess, haha).

I love his facial expressions :)
finally a HQ video of tchaikovsky-perlman. but where is the first movement?
When Perlman says he spends more time on bowing technique than anything else, it shows.
he just plucked with his pinky omg lol
one of the handful of greats,
I miss when the title of this video was "3st movement." We all thirst.
Gideon Kramer and David Ostereich are also excellent
This is great playing!
Also highly recommend Perlman and Ashkenazy playing Kreutzer sonata. It too is beyond description.
itzhak the greatest
he is amazing. when is he going to NY?
I am waiting for him.
My favorite legend 😍😍😘😘😘
