When I was so much younger, I was an admirer and devoted fan of Jascha Heifetz. Perlman is our present day incarnation of that great talent. I once had an LP of Heifetz playing this work. Perlman brings this passionate and wonderful Mendelssohn piece so perfectly to life! This is the kind of music than can become part of you.

Absolute genius, demonstrating the phenomena we call the human brain. Marvel at how the brain of that man can remember exactly the thousands of notes, played in exactly the right sequence, for exactly the right duration and how that brain can control the fingers and hands to reproduce perfectly each note. Appreciate the orchestra doing the same. Appreciate the brain of the composer who imagined and transformed imagination into dots, lines and squiggles that others can see and whose eyes send signals to brains that replicate the music. Enjoy the sheer beauty and miracle of it all. Rejoice that we are blest with the same brain. Get excited by the many other musicians playing every kind of instrument that do the same. Marvel at the distinction between animals who rely on instinct and humans that have intellect and you soon realise what a miracle mankind really is, in every discipline to which we apply ourselves. Music it is, outstanding at that, but it's so much more. It is actually a miracle that we take for granted. Marvel at technology that enables simple, ordinary people like myself to sit at home watching and listening to things I would hardly ever be able to otherwise. we have much to be truly grateful for. Then marvel at those who are so bereft of the ability to appreciate it all and need to send a thumbs down sign, it beggars belief. Thanks for posting
During the "Allegro Molto Vivace", whatever his age, his facial expressions match the playfulness and fun of his virtuosity of the written music. Just a joy to watch and hear...!🙂

Besides the magnificent violinist Pearlman is the expressions on his face indicate that the spirit of music is inside him playing with his emotions. Something magical.⚘
One of my favorite violin concertos, and one of the finest violinists ever. But this video is absolutely remarkable--the editing is fantastic, just like Itzhak, it doesn't miss a beat.
Fabuloso!!! Graciaaas!!!
ltzhak Perlman’s violin work has always been so sweet and masterful. What beautiful tone. Mendelssohn’s concerto and Mr. Perlman’s prowess on the violin make this performance nothing less than delicious! Played it several times in a row.
Merci. Et Bravo !!!! Olivier
Mendelssohn was the son of a wealthy banker and traveled all over the world, it seemed like he was happy in his even short personal life except for fleeting moments .. (perhaps) he composed music about the some pain of life that he lacked .. Well, a genius always remains a genius in any atmosphere .. 🤔
Gracias mil !!!
An incredible performance by soloist, conductors, and orchestras. It is not very often that the violin's final arpeggio can be heard from bottom to top - but here it is clear and remarkable, not drowned out by the orchestra. For me, this was a real tear-jerker. Thank you for posting.
You know this orchestra can and does support the composition and soloist and listens and works to make it come out beautifully. In a week I am going to be playing in it, supporting a seventh different soloist in a fifth community or university orchestra. It never gets old, and I really look forward to another chance to do what I can to try to do it right.
there is like always this sweetness in the sound whenever he plays. while it is fast it is not mechanical and the notes just so nicely and smoothly. truly amazing!
These were brilliant and consistent performances by the soloist and the different conductors/orchestras-Mendelssohn as he deserves to sound. Thankyou all concerned,
The passion in his performance is exquisite not like any other, the finest control in his art, he makes the violin sing, like his soul is on Fire 🔥♥️🥰💐 Bravo 👏👏👏🌹
Most elegant violinist of the 20th century. I’m still to find one in the new generations that can express these feelings, understand the music and deliver so elegantly, calmly
Saw a recent concert with a Jewish cantor and it was amazing to hear him play klezmer tunes and speak to various artists about their lives. He is a beautiful person and a great musician.
The tone of Maestro Perlman violin is so clear and resonant.... Invariably I lift my head and sharpen my years when the version with MTT in San Francisco comes around.... what a treat this was! A masterclass for all students working on intonation, projection and tonality...
Ok...I listened to Shlomo Mintz. I loved his presentation ...but... I enjoy Perlman more. I think it is the way he plays with the timingamd construction of the phrases that make me understand the composers narrative more.
Cuantos matices, cuanta pasion y ternura!

Thank you, Mr. Perlman for your excellent performance! The conductors and all musician of the Orchestra are magnificent in touching the hearts of many people! Great music makes the world a beautiful and peaceful place to life!
Llega a tocar mi Alma. Gracias, muchas gracias a ambos.
I wonder if Mr Perlman has seen this compilation himself? It’s wonderful. So is the Concerto. It’s my favourite. My dad was a violinist, and played the Mendelssohn the most. 🎻
Agree, although some say Bruchs 1st violin concerto and other Beethoven's 1st and yet another says Mozart's is the best. I enjoy them all. Felix Mendelsohn's is absolutely a masterpiece and I would not be surprised if he should get most music lover's vote in a showdown.
That performance must have moved him - his hair went from dark and curly to a rather sophisticated grey and back to black a few times - without missing a beat!

My fellow music lovers....good music is found in all ages...I was a 60s man my self but we shouldn't turn a deaf ear to music from the ages... we will loose out...enjoy the beauty of music my friends...
Itzhak Perlman & Orchestra gives us a brilliant performance! The beauty of the resonance radiates the vibrant intensity, powerful dynamism and clarity of the melody of the violin solo and the orchestra. Just Marvelous...
The great violinist Itzak Perlman par excellence! He, I believed has been divinely inspired to transmit the lovely notes created by Mendelssohn to those who emotionally internalize the music to their hearts including mine! Thank you great violinist. You are heavenly inspired!🙏🙏🙏🎹🎹🎼🎼♥️👏👏👏🎉🎉🎻🇨🇦t
That’s one thing I love about our time and the technology to see this beautiful concert
Almost.
Besides the magnificent violinist Pearlman is the expressions on his face indicate that the spirit of music is inside him playing with his emotions.
Something magical.⚘
Meraviglioso 💞
Impeccabile.... Toccante🌹
One of my favorite violin concertos, and one of the finest violinists ever. But this video is absolutely remarkable--the editing is fantastic, just like Itzhak, it doesn't miss a beat.
AWESOME!!! Such exciting performances at different stages of his life ... I love Itzhak Perlman!!
ltzhak Perlman’s violin work has always been so sweet and masterful. What beautiful tone. Mendelssohn’s concerto and Mr. Perlman’s prowess on the violin make this performance nothing less than delicious! Played it several times in a row.
What a blessing to listen to Itzhak Perlman'violin. His music transport one to a place of serenity
My heart and soul is singing with your violin master Perlman!.....Thank you indeed.
Perlman plays “my heartstrings” ....Thank you Felix for this violin concerto ❤
Merci. Et Bravo !!!! Olivier
I adore Mendelssohn and I just as much adore Itzhak. Genius interpreting genius.
Mendelssohn was the son of a wealthy banker and traveled all over the world, it seemed like he was happy in his even short personal life except for fleeting moments .. (perhaps) he composed music about the some pain of life that he lacked .. Well, a genius always remains a genius in any atmosphere .. 🤔
Mexico
I ABSOLUTELY AGREE Mendelssohn
And Itzhak Perlman are Heavenly
Together 👏👏👏💕
It's Heavenly....Mendelssohn and Itzhak Perlman together 👏👏💕
One of the greatest violonists in the world
Indeed
Yes absolutely
Enhanced because he has a pickup on his violin
there is like always this sweetness in the sound whenever he plays. while it is fast it is not mechanical and the notes just so nicely and smoothly. truly amazing!
These were brilliant and consistent performances by the soloist and the different conductors/orchestras-Mendelssohn as he deserves to sound. Thankyou all concerned,
Maestro Perlman has been "Top of the Heap" for 40 years!😅❤
The passion in his performance is exquisite not like any other, the finest control in his art, he makes the violin sing, like his soul is on Fire 🔥♥️🥰💐 Bravo 👏👏👏🌹
This concert is full of charm. The music is sublime and Itzhak Pearlman shows a tremendous ability to touch us.
The expression on his face when he plays. The pure joy. I remember seeing this as a teen and fell in love with him and the beauty of violin music.
Left speechless after listening and watching. Thanks to everyone who made it possible to hear this wonderful music over the Internet.
Itzhak is so god-like when he plays his Violin, it has never let him down, BRAVO MAESTRO
God like? hahahah. That is the top of grandiose exaggeration....
@@Nogah100Those that can't do, are always HATING ON THOSE THAT CAN?
The tone of Maestro Perlman violin is so clear and resonant.... Invariably I lift my head and sharpen my years when the version with MTT in San Francisco comes around.... what a treat this was! A masterclass for all students working on intonation, projection and tonality...
No other violinist has matched the genius of Perlman in this piece ... A matrimony of talents displayed... so so enjoyable.
try shlomo mintz here on youtube and then comment
@@Peter-cm1uo thank you
Ok...I listened to Shlomo Mintz. I loved his presentation ...but... I enjoy Perlman more. I think it is the way he plays with the timingamd construction of the phrases that make me understand the composers narrative more.
Sorry typos 🙄

Llega a tocar mi Alma. Gracias, muchas gracias a ambos.
I wonder if Mr Perlman has seen this compilation himself? It’s wonderful. So is the Concerto. It’s my favourite. My dad was a violinist, and played the Mendelssohn the most. 🎻
Oh Im sure He Haz And He Will seez all Theze Im puttin in x'z?
my favorite violin concerto is Tchaikovsky's... but also, Beethoven... also Mendelsohn... also Paganini 4...
That is so AWESOME!!!!
You are right! Aurora Kuehn
@@e.conboy4286 From The beginn they had written, în the Titel, that are many Conductors und Orchestras!!! Herr Perlman had various Kostueme und Frisur... But he plays like an SUPERartist !!! Good morning/ afternoon to you!! Aurora Kuehn

Maestro pearlman to my ear to my mind to my eye is the best violinist I've had the pleasure of seeing in person and continue to see via the Internet thank you so much for getting back to me I really appreciate it sincerely yours Bruce David Deitch
@@brucedeitch5950
It's not a "trip", mate. Not does one have to be formally trained to be musically informed and be able to respond to classical music.
You know the expression "to have an ear"?
I feel lucky I was born with one, and the more one listens the more one is able to make comparisons.
Music is based on mathematical relationships, maybe I was born with an ear for those too. 😁
So magnificent. I loved it
Thank you so much for sharing.
I am sorry, but this violine concerto is not sentimental, but romantic.
