Classic beginning, especially as I'm in Bristol! Hand occlusion in the Apple looks pretty good hopefully meta sorts it out

Being honest, I've been in that place where you guys find yourselves right now. Probably about 5 years ago when literally all VR was to me was casual pick up for 20 minute games, and spending 95% of my time in VR split between big screen, the racing sim, and the pinball table. Happy in my bubble as i enjoy those doing those three things immensely, but not oblivious to the feelings that we were we were going nowhere else with VR, depressingly so every time you look on reddit or read the latest piece of not news on UploadVR . I get what you're saying about the saturation of the mobile market encompassing the vast majority of new development, and how when you look at something you're interested in like Assassins Creed having no place within the quest ecosystem given the overwhelming use case of userbase you are ultimately apart of too, most just not being interested in either the game or the higher price point which will only further cement the direction of travel you feel it's heading toward.
Personally though i side lined all expectations of the VR market sometime ago. Whatever meta/oculus or anyone else hanging from the coat tales are trying to do, bluntly not interested. Embracing what we do have and the magical community and the efforts that go in is where you want to put you're thoughts, you'll find yourself in a better place.

Most people I have talked to about VR over the years have never heard of it amazingly. People who do know what it is when I tell them about it generally tend to laugh at me and think its a strange thing to do. Managed to get one friend to start VR, it lasted a few weeks and that was that. My youngest son is the only one who plays, but only Gorilla tag, the other three will have a go, but then then they are straight back to Fortnite etc.

[11:53] I of course mean "40fps" reprojected to 80Hz. I messed up and said "45fps" for some reason.

    Cheers for another episode folks!
A little cool tid-bit I have heard about the blackforge game.
Disco-VR flew out to fast travel games to have a little preview of the game.
Apparently the developer had implemented a cool feature just for her where you could 3D print what you created in the game!
Would be a cool addition to a game I can't personally see doing great.
Tetiana said she told the Devs to add that into the full release as I don't think we've seen anything like that in a VR game before!

That certainly does sound pretty cool - Lee.

Thanks for the semi depressing episode! And looking forward to your virtual boy coverage! ;)

Yep completely unintentional, but it was certainly a bit more depressing than usual unfortunately (or perhaps about on par)!
Virtual Boy coverage sounds like a good idea for the retro show now you mention it. I remember trying an emulator on the Rift a while ago iirc, and I think we discussed it when we did a show with MameFan from the VR Gaming Podcast.

@@ImmersedRobot no problemo, Im also missing the ol’ VR inter madness these days… thats why I sold my PSVR2 and bought a new gaming rig (for UEVR mainly but also emulation and retro stuff)… looking forward to your renewed podcast cycles and content, hope that it will lift your spirits and ours too for that matter ;)

If you want to know why the retention rate is so poor, it's because most people don't want to use motion controls to play games.
If they allowed normal games to be played in VR with a pad then more people would get into VR. My most played VR games are all seated with a pad (or a wheel with driving games)

Thank god you aren't in charge of VR.
I swear fat folks have absolutely no clue just how much of the time they use "fat logic" to determine what's "wrong" with things lol.
Fat logic doesn't work btw, it just beaches you on the island of bad ideas and even worse "solutions".

If Recenteded only covers VR once a month, How is Lee going to promote those Meta referrals?
P.S. I'm looking forward to the retro podcast.

GRID Legends got crucified at launch for bad graphics but everyone I know that has played it enjoys the game.

Ubisoft announcements of low sales on meta is bad for meta in general. It will turn off AAA companies creating more meta games and will prob turn off meta themselves for creating their own AAA games if cheaper casual games are more likely to sell.

Performance problems must have affected the sales of Assassin's Creed Nexus. I can't be the only person who decided not to buy it after hearing about the issues.

PSVR sub-reddit is so so toxic, it's literally a circle jerk where no real conversation can be had as anything slightly negative is just down voted.

    • @ImmersedRobot
      @ImmersedRobot 7 месяцев назад +1

I’ve noticed this too. Some people will caveat their posts with paragraphs of praise about how much they love their PSVR2, before a single minor criticism, and then be immediately downvoted.
There’s almost no room for contrary opinions on there whatsoever.

That's basically just Reddit in a nutshell. I left that site about ten years ago after being censored for saying things I had been saying for many years and according to Reddits own metrics, were also the ideas people agree with me the most. That and I was called a "russian bot" one too many times because I *dared* contradict the holy hive mind.
F that site man, leave it and never look back, you aren't missing anything. (imo)
