Don't fret mate, I also purchased the Harrison zeotrope discs, despite them being unlistenable. I had the exact same estimation, in that I didn't want to miss out and need to keep my collection "relevant!" LOL My wife was completely unimpressed with my thought process and thinks I wasted my money on a silly gimmick. Not sure that she is wrong tbh. Cheers mate! Enjoy that "wonderful vinyl." 😅

Same thing happened to me with the two RSD discs. I had no intention of getting them, but a few days later I caved in and picked them up because they looked cool when I saw videos of other people playing them. Plus, I figured that - if anything - it would be more of an incentive to play those titles while seeing the picture disc effects at the same time.

Hello Tone, enjoyed the video as always. I'm somewhat of a completist as far as record collecting goes, but "Electronic Sound" is the one George Harrison that I don't have on vinyl. I actually enjoy listening to "Wonderwall Music." The Harrison album that I can't handle is "Extra Texture." By the third song on side one, I've had enough. Some people love that album, so to each his own.
I wouodnt bother with it Seamus unless you are desperate to complete your collection. Im with you on Extra Texture but i still thibk i prefer it to Wonderwall Music but as you say, each to their own .

Yet another gem from your channel.The interesting thing is most of the music was
Heavily “borrowed” from another composter that was showing him the instrument. And it’s also interesting to note that George who was so critical of what John was doing with experimental music was doing it at the same time, even being the one who helped him on Revolution #9. Wonderwall had an amazing song that George composed and sang on that was unfortunately not released on the reissue. Fun fact. When George was first starting Electronic Sounds he also heard the American mix of the White Album which was so horrible had it remixed. I have one of the few copies of that record and all I can say is thank god George was in town! Love you kid!

Fantastic! Did you know... that George's Moog featured on various artists albums in the early 70s (cos no one could afford to buy one)? Ralph Mace managed to borrow it for use on Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World" album in 1970 producing some smashing wobbly growling noises.
No i didnt know that Steve. MWSTW is not one of my favourite Bowie albums but i do really like it. Its up against tough competition as far as Bowie’s 70s work goes

It’s hilarious that Dave did to you what you did to me a while back. Not sure if you remember, but after seeing your McCartney archive reviews, something got in to my head and I had to go out and buy the bloody lot! I’m not sure if it’s am unconscious competitive thing with Beatle fans about who has the best collection but I really got OCD about it 😁.
Anyway mate after seeing Dave’s video (which I always enjoy), I seriously wondered why anyone would want to watch a record spin around and around on a turn table? It would send me dizzy or worst make me throw up. I glad you managed to figure that out, albeit a bit late 😀

One of the rare occasions when you hope for a YT copyright strike if it means not having to hear Electronic Sound! I love Wonderwall Music though, have it 3 times now.. German Stereo, original UK mono and now the Zoetrope thingy. Totally agree about being a little underwhelmed with the RSD one. My UK mono sounds great though and different to the stereo version, so its a pity they didnt release this Zoetrope version as mono instead as its rare in mono and would have made it a little more of a special release

Hello Beatley Tone highly entertaining video these releases are just gimmicks like picture discs coloured vinyl they release these as we have the fear of missing out and depriving our collection.
We are creatures of habit to collect multiple releases of what takes our fancy.

Your 8 mins is better than my zero - I’ve got a CD and vinyl copy and am still trying to work up the courage to listen to it ! Some how the mood is never quite right - Same with the three Lennon experimental albums ! Love Wonderwall music though - that’s a good listen 👂 stay safe ❤

That's kind of neat getting a Zapple release. I only encountered the Zapple LPs once at a record store in Seattle called Penny Lane in 1973 when I bought Red Rose Speedway. I don't think I've ever heard any of those albums in their entirety. Hey, I quite enjoy Wonderwall Music myself!

I don't know why but I prefer it above Wonderwall.
I bought both zeotrope versions on RSD .

Im not a big fan of Wonderwall although Electronic Sound makes it sound like a masterpiece. You need the ilumiscope app Chris. Download it onto your phone and hit start and hold your phone over the record and watchvthe record go round on yiur phone and you’ll see the images move

Hi BT. So after your entertaining post, I dragged out my copy of ES. It's a 1969 UK pressing and it doesn't have the notes on the inner sleeve like your Italian version. I'm guessing that I haven't played it since 1969, and while I've been watching your vid and typing this, I've listened again - I'm almost at the end of side 2, and in the unlikely event that I live that long, I can't imagine that I'll be listening to it for another 55 years. I'm very wary of getting out my copy of Wonderwall...

I just used the ilumiscope app and filmed both discs. I love when playing video and you zoom in on electronic sounds you see the word electronic sounds. And with Wonderwall and zoom in you can see the bricks moving centre to the bowler hat men. Clever. But as you say I do not see the point as nobody is going to stand playing the whole album holding their phone over a record. lol

I almost skipped the zoetropes but then caved in. I’m a sucker for different packaging, and this is different enough to tempt me (had they been in regular sleeves I wouldn’t have bothered).
I can listen to Electronic Sounds lying down in a dark room, then it’s actually an experience, but it’s not an album you rush home to play. I’ve always enjoyed Wonderwall, though, although a vinyl release of the original mono mix would have been my preference for RSD.

fun records crazy price for them RSD but we all have vices .I bought the David Bowie one for 3 songs that were not on any lp before now I know why.

I laughed throughout most of this video. I really struggled with getting or not getting those on RSD. Glad I didn’t, even with that app it doesn’t seem to do much. I did see on George’s website that they are partnered with RSD to bring the whole catalog out with these. So guessing ATMP might be up next. Also guessing only ATMP will be up next. Then back to two at a time. Not sure if will be going for these. Probably will save my money for the hopefully colored vinyl issues to come. If it happens it happens. If it doesn’t it doesn’t.

@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel I think Bangladesh and LITMW are going to be a wider release with super deluxe box sets. Maybe down the road they’ll get this version. But what I read this was the first in the release of his entire catalog partnered with RSD. The article should still be up on his website.

It has it moments but not a record I particularly enjoy
People go to concerts only to watch the whole show through their phone as they record it instead of enjoying the moment. So having people watch their records play through a phone app is the next logical step.
Anyhow, I've never owned Electronic Sound. I heard part of it once and that was enough. If I wanted to listen someone who doesn't know how to program a synth plonk around on one for 40 minutes, I could experience that at the local musical gear shop for free.

The one in this video in my man cave where I make my videos is a Clearaudio Concept Charles, which used to be my main deck until I upgraded last year to a Michel Engineering Girodec SE .

I got those zoetropes as well, don't need them and don't think I will play them. Mind you mine were 27.99 each on RSD, £38 sounds expensive.

You might want to try leaving the hype sticker on the shrink wrap and just cutting around it with a scissors. You end up with the hype sticker still on the wrap and it is less likely to get damaged. Or you can do what I do - slide the shrink wrap off of the LP without tearing it. Then fold up the shrink wrap around the hype sticker and store it in the LP jacket.
I take the sticker off and stick on the inner sleeve unless its a picture inner in which case i stick the sticker on the inner part of the cardboard record sleeve. I never keep the shrink but thx for the tips
@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel That's a good idea. As a "crazy Beatles collector" I know that hype stickers can eventually be valuable so I like to keep them as close to pristine as possible. BTW, I really enjoy your videos.

Hi Tones, I have the George Harrison box set, all unplayed. No George zoetrope discs for me but I did buy the Marc Bolan & T-Rex RSD 2024 ZT LP, Zinc Alloy. After seeing the 'effect', I probably will leave it sealed and listen to the CD. I couldn't even find the app to use on it. 🙄
The App is called ilumiscope . Available at the Apple app store for free. Not sure if there is an android equivalent if you have an android phone but i expect there is Dexter

I just searched for 'zoetrope' in the App Store and a couple of options came up and I picked one that was free. So I suggest you do the same in the Play Store as there must be an android equivalent . Sounds like my app is Apple IOS only

Rule numer 1: Don't buy anything your not going to listen to. It's been a long time since I was in high school (close to 50 years). My goal is to collect music albums as close to mint as possible, without having to break the bank. I know about those cold sweats, so remind yourself that tomorrow is another day and gimmicks don't make for a good listen, or a fun one. Good video as always.

And didn’t Bernie Krause accuse George of taking the credit for his own playing? Imagine wanting the credit for it. And while I don’t play Wonderwall often I do enjoy it when I listen to it. . In fact I wonder if George was the actual composer for all of it. Some pieces just don’t sound up his alley. But I could be wrong.

Yeah I know the song. I have it as one of the bonus tracks on the Govinda CD single. Loved their first album K and all the stuff on the CD singles that came from it. Bought their second album with the silly title - played it twice and never let them darken my doorstep again.

When I saw the still of the video, I thought he had found and bought the true George Harrison Holy Grail (GHHG): The Mono pressing of "Wonderwall", which only came out as such in the UK. Pressings from Argentina or Brazil that claim "mono" and the Argentine pressing even says "APCOR 1" on it, they are really stereo fold downs. The UK Mono Wonderwall features different mixes for a few songs, and I was hoping that his estate, now scraping the bottom of the barrel, would find it in their hearts (and to their financial advantage) to find the tapes and release the album instead of that ridiculous "Uber box" which has probably thousands of crates sitting in a warehouse somewhere, even with a whopping 20% discount. One more observation: At least you chose the better Zapple of the two. If you think 8 minutes of "Electronic Sound" was an ordeal, wait until you get a taste of "Cambridge 1969" on the other Zapple album "Life With The Lions". I challenge you to play the entire 26 minute piece in one sitting.
Tbh if i had a gun pointed at my head and was being forced to listen to either Life With the Lions (which i have on Cd) or Electronic Sound, im picking Lions every time. At least it has some variation and to these ears is very slightly less awful

I have both of the albums on CD but not on vinyl. I did not get the zoetrope albums, sort of on principle.
I think Wonderwall is OK. It is of its time and obviously a soundtrack. But that is fine. I have the film on dvd somewhere too and as soundtracks go it is an interesting and varied listen. Electronic Sound is more of an experiment and not really something for everyday listening!
The Zoetrope records are pretty, but they go into the gimmick category. If they do all of George's albums in this fashion, then it is going to be a very expensive commitment. I have stopped doing these things, mainly courtesy of the Paul McCartney nonsense with the last few releases which have generated a ridiculous number of variants that you COULD collect if you wish. I'm saying "no" to this wasteful and pointless trend. I buy these things for the music, not the colour or picture disc variants.
What I would prefer Dhanni (and Paul) to do is forget this pointless tat and look through the archives and release some extended deluxe editions with some new music that we have not heard before.
I have been playing some of the Lennon box sets lately and they are absolutely fabulous. Sean (and Yoko) have done an amazing job with John's archive and long may that continue. This is what we should be offered. The accompanying books are excellent too.
Thank you for showing us what we are missing. That is enough for me. I'll put the saved money towards the Mind Games set! Hopefully we will get Some Time In New York City at some point too. No need to worry about the political correctness rubbish. Put a warning sticker on the shrink-wrap, if you wish. We all know the context of these things and the time frame in which they originally appeared.

Yes of course these Zoetropes are very gimmicky and probably for completists only Dave . Ive never been a huge fan of Wonderwall music but Electronic Sound make it sound like a masterpiece. Cloured vinyl I really like collecting although I didnt get involved in all the McCartney III variants.
Yes I think we would all live some extravagant archival box sets with lots of unreleased material and the Lennon camp have been brilliant at this with their Ultimate Mix series so really looking forward to Mind Games in the summer. We are all different in what we would like to appear. The problem is that we know what is possible! And don't get me wrong. I am grateful for some of the great releases that we have received in recent years. It is just sometimes I wish time and effort was not wasted on trivia when we know that there is a lot of music that could be worked on.

Hi tone i didn't get these zoetrope records i don't get it myself yea like you say who wants to stand over the record player with a phone. Anyhow i do like 3 tracks off Wonderwall Ski-ing, Red Lady Too And Crying (or as i told My Autistic daughter in the car one day it's not called crying it's the wobbly police car) so the question comes back what's a wobbly police car, so the track starts and i start moving the car left and right(it was a quiet road ) and she nearly wet herself crying with laughter it was really funny she's in her mid 20's now and at the time she was about 12 and still talks about it. take care.

I have both originals, and both are absolute crap.
It might have been a competition between John and George to see who coukd make the biggest pile of shit on vinyl.....but hey, like you, I'm a Beatles fan and collector, so it's a must for the collection.
The GH vinyl is that bad, I even bought both the zoetropes from RSD 2024, just to have them.
Wonderwall is just about bearable but I rarely want to play it. Usually I only play its to remind myself how crap it it. As for ES - it's unlistenable. What did you think of the Zoetropes? Would you buy more?
Sadly the best thing about the albums is the artwork, patterned vinyl and labels. I can’t describe the disappointment I felt on listening to electronic sounds sometime in the mid Seventies. I very quickly traded it for another album. I bought the Wonderwall CD some years back in a sale hoping it was perhaps an overlooked masterpiece… spoiler alert it isn’t. I think all Beatles fans are glad that only Revolution 9 made it on to their cannon albums. As others have mentioned it would seem George & John were trying to outdo one another when it came to who could release the most unlistenable albums. Fortunately for us all they got through this ‘experimental’ stage and went on to release some excellent albums.

@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel I'm a collector so I have many many zoetropes on my collection. All are still sealed and they'll stay that way.
The only zoetrope that's no sealed is the Gallagher/Squire one and when played, there seemed to be a lot of unwanted noise from it, so I'll pass on playing the others.....but I won't stop collecting them 😉
As for Lennons Experimental stuff, it's worth having them in the collection as they came with extras.

I think you're correct that Electronic Sound is the very worst solo album. I think John and Yoko's experimental albums at least have more interesting "sounds" on them, and better packaging.

Yes Electronic Sound is garbage, but Wonderwall Music is quite lovely, if you are in the right mood. Beats out some of his "proper" solo albums
Fair enough, each to their own is fine. I have never found a way to love Wonderwall music or Extra Texture, the rest of his solo work is great in varying degrees of greatness
