    Great video! I have a squad of metal kasrkin that I love
    Just my 2 cents: if you run them with 2 plasmas and 2 hotshot volley guns and a castellan, you can give them take aim and first rank fire, second rank fire. That combo is a marine killer.
    But as you said, there are so many options with kasrkin! Great unit

    A bit of a history lesson, but having two datasheets for Kasrkin and Stormtroopers is in a way a return to the origins of the Kasrkin models. Way back in 3rd edition, the Guard had a system of army customization called doctrines. Cadians had a doctrine called Grenadiers that let you take some Stormtroopers that can't infiltrate or deep strike as a troops choice rather than an elites choice. Kasrkin were there to represent the troops choice Stormtroopers and you had the old Stormtrooper models for the elites choice ones.

    • @13thbee16
      @13thbee16 2 месяца назад

      @@Gary-gq2le They did in the sense that they were a Cadian regiment and thus had the Cadian set of doctrines.
      The standard for customization was 5 doctrines, but the Cadians got 7. The Grenadiers doctrine I talked about before, 4 Restricted Troops letting them take Sanctioned Psykers, Storm Troopers, Conscripts, and Special Weapons squads, Iron Discipline (letting them take an upgrade related to leadership), and Sharpshooters (letting them take an upgrade that gave 4+ to hit infantry not wielding plasma or a sniper rifle a re-roll of a 1 on hit rolls).

    As someone who always plays my Kasrkrins(Death Korps Grenadiers) they absolutely shred they never fail to achieve my goals. They are so useful as a firm point in a guard infantry line with the volume of fire that just breaks my opponents, they think that was the whole gun line firing it was just one and there are two more who are going in next my opponents just lose hope and well as their units.
    Typically I like to run 2 plasma guns and hotshot volly guns and the classic plasma pistol with power sword with an Cadian officer(extra Deaths Korps Marshal) because my opponents desperately try to kill these guys and they often get tagged in combat. Also the move move move is great to have with an officer to move 9 and then first rank second rank target's within 12 it's great as you can often hide them. The 6's sustained is absolutely brutal on this much high ap weapons, if Ursula is nearby its so effective.
    Now with the fix to orders and reinforcements I'm tempted to ditch the Cadian officers for commissars to ensure they are not battle shocked and still can be reinforced and on the second time they turn up they can just get extra orders from the command squad. However that's just in theory land and hasn't been tested.

    • @CadianSergeantSteel

      Their unit ability is what allows you to do that, not an Officer unit. They can issue themselves an order, regardless of being on the table or not.

    • @lancevillarreal38

      Strategic reserves specifically states that a unit can still use its abilities. Models in a transport are not in strategic reserves, though. So, in the case of Kasrkin, they cannot order themselves coming out of a transport.

      thios is the part from the rules comentary i was talking about:
      "Embarked Units: Units embarked within a Transport do not
      count as being on the battlefield for any rules purposes. This
      means that, unless explicitly stated otherwise, embarked units
      cannot do anything (e.g. shoot, fight, use abilities, etc.). Similarly,
      you cannot select an embarked unit as a target for any rules,
      including Stratagems. "

      Chimera is my favorite, but the Taurox will get them farther into the battlefield and support them executing a unit. Only downside is the Taurox can't shoot after Advancing, so you lose some firepower support so maybe it is beat for objective capturing in most cases.

    My biggest Problem withe the current rules (for guardsmen units in general not only kasrkin) are, that you have a sergeant with a firing range of 12", Trooper with 24" and a marksman with 36" Why cant i have a Sergeant who has a Bolter or He-Lasgun so i can optimised a unit for fighting on 24"+ distance? Yes the Deathkorps and Standard squad can have Bolters, but why not my Elite (which arent so elite in comparison to standard units from other armies, but cost the same) Units

    I also want to point out something in the wording of the kasrkin ability and see what you think about it.
    as you said yourself: the kasrkin ability states, that the unit gets an order in addition to any other orders issured by another officer.
    this would indicate, that a unit of kasrkins can gain more than 2 orders as long as the officer targeting them can issure more than one. so in the most extreme case, you can have your kasrkins with 4 active orders, is you use lord solar to do this. this is prob not realy practical but creed, gaunt or any officer with grand strategist can issure 2 for a total of 3 orders.
    so do you think that is intentional or an oversight, that should be ignored?
    apart from this, I think they work best either on foot or in reserve, depending if they got an officer attached or not. a transport is questionable because RAW, no unit abilities work while in a transport. so they loose their order for the first turn they disembark. if you also attach an officer, they loose scout as well. on foot, they can easily duck into cover for your first turn, so nothing except for long range indirect can even target them. so if on foot, they should run without officers to profit from scout. instead issure an order from far away with mastervox. the advantage here is to keep the unit cheap and more expendable. if you return them with CP, they don't even loose any figthing power. if they get a castellan, just come from reserve. they now get not only their ability, but the order from the castellan as well for maximum dakka. this gives more options but makes them more expensive as well. not sure if the extra pistol + substained is worth this anymore. especialy since scion squads make for better surprise firepower with superior DS and the scion command squad

    • @CadianSergeantSteel
      @CadianSergeantSteel  5 месяцев назад

      I think because the wording is "an additional" it infers a single extra order to take effect, therefore nullifying Creed's ability.
      I address the second part in my Balance Dataslate video as it changed how orders work, arriving from reserves in transport, and other synergy combos beyond this video a little bit. I don't think your wrong in any of your thoughts are how to run them most efficiently or effectively though.

      ONLY if the ability os a custom ability that says "this unit" or "all models in the unit gains" , etc. If it is a keyword ability, both the bodyguard and the leader unit must have it for the units to be able to use it.
