Consider the humble auto cannon for heavy infantry killing vs the Heavy bolter. More likely to wound and will kill any marine or heavy intercessor in a shot.

I enjoy the old sculpts as my army is essentially all old metal, Steel Legion but painted as Kriegers with kit bashing to make Kasrkrins(death korps combat engineers) they are so beautiful all massed up.
I typically run Kriegers as my front line units but I have a bunch of infantry squads to do objectives getting orders from a infantry squads with my lord solar conversion, they do quite well at this and for 60 points each they are just as good as scion when you move move move them to key points for actions and actually pull some weight with mass assualts.

I also really hope they don't get rid of the rules for the classic Infantry Squad, it's been part of 40k for so long! Your point about them maybe doing the occasional made to order of the old metal guard range as a way to get around the "no model, no rules" policy makes sense.
My favorite implementation of the infantry squad was in the old 3rd Ed Cityfight rules where infantry squads could be broken into 5-man combat squads so you had a fire element and a maneuver element. That meant you could make good use of both the short ranged Special weapons and the long ranged bust static Heavy weapons, and played out a lot more like how I imagine the Guard would act in-universe.

I don't think the audio was that bad. I understood everything just fine. Still, props for bringing us such quality videos.

I could tell a few, and just a few, key words got dropped. The error is really weird and sometimes my software will shift the position of the audio to the cuts of the video its tied too. It's infuriating, but you're right, this one wasn't so bad.

Excellent breakdown! I used an infantry squad in a recent tournament and usually they didn't do much, but every so often their lascannons tore a chunk out of some critical enemy target. Definitely worth considering! Just don't let them get lead feet.

Your models always look stellar, and i've recently been painting up all the flamers in my army the way you did in your tutorial. The results have been fantastic.
With the Infantry Squads specifically, I've previously used them as a back line unit, sitting still and blasting away but I've recently come to realise that the Platoon Command Squads ability guarentees that they can be reinforced even if they get battleshocked, so i've decided im going to push them forward a lot more in future games (lethal hits and +1 to hit from heavy be damned) I think Infantry have the primary purpose of contesting objectives, so i'm going to have them focus on that from now on.

You can run them with Death Korps Marshals too. Get them off the objective with the Marshall and Infantry Command Squad.

It's weird being a space marine player getting into guard and hearing guard players talking about bolters being a cool upgrade while as a space marine I'll avoid bolters completely unless I need sticky objectives

I, obviously, love me some boltgun wielding guardsmen. It used to be my trademark kitbash.

Awww, she didn't but... I think because so many people feel let down by that, she may be next in her own video.

metal Cadian's are old, those are the new plastic Cadian kits....
i dont count the new dumb large child toys that are now the Imp guard and space marines...

I own all three. After painting all of them, I do find myself preferring the new kits. The details are so good on them. I was sad to see the previous generation of Guard models get discontinued right after their upgrade sprue was released. My only gripe about the old metal models is because of the casting process they were fairly 2D in their poses.

when i lift my old hard gw army cases, the weight of the case to me says something... i lift a case of plastic or fine cast, it feels empty... i equate the weight to the value. after a childhood of buying metals, newer just doesnt 'feel' worth it... i hope that makes sense. but then i got into 40k from Napoleonic's.. large lead armies. a victim of the times.

Personally my only issue with the current Cadians is that some of the running poses are hard to put on the bases. But overall, I quite enjoy them. I have worked with metal models before and it isn't for me.

The new battle line guardsmen aren’t bigger at all. If anything they’re a bit smaller since they’re proportioned better. Cadians and Krieg kits are also still on 25mm bases.
