      The Trotting Black Horse looks like a FRIESAN. The fullMane and Tail ; along with the Feather(ing) above it's hooves , totally reminds me of that particular Beautiful Breed. Originated near Holland.

    The butter bell does not match the dish. You need a raised bottom piece to hold the water for a true butter bell to work. The base is completely different design, probably a different artist. Close, but, no cigar(box), lol. Loved the series, especially with Jesse able to come along. Really looking forward to the bins videos.

    • @LindaKayHolevas
      @LindaKayHolevas Месяц назад +8

      I agree, there was no way to hold the water, but it’s still a cool covered dish! 😊

    • @belindasales
      @belindasales Месяц назад +3

      I agree--not a butter bell. The clay is not the same color so the pieces do not go together. The unglazed part inside the "top" would indicate it was made to sit on another unglazed rim--possibly a jar.

    The lip of a vase is the part of the vase that flares out at the top, where the neck meets the body. The lip can be an important visual component of a vase, and can affect how people perceive its weight, function, value, and refinement. FYI.

    Loooooved this episode, can't wait for more. Second all those who say they'd do 6 hours at the bins with y'all - what a great thing to have going off to my side while I photograph and list!
    A thought about the baskets - fading often doesn't mean age, as lower-quality dyes or plant dyes that are more fugitive rather than substantive can fade very very quickly in light, even indoors, like in a few weeks.

    I agree, with you, Laura. That base goes with the butter bell. Need room for cold water to keep butter fresh.

    Fun thrifting day with the best thrifting couple! Great pottery, I can’t imagine the amount you have found when you have the great finally ! Btw, love your old vintage table you showed the pottery haul on at the end of today’s shopping. So close to being done now that the thrift stores have been completed. Looking forward to the vintage shops you have picked out ! Such a brilliant idea Jesse, that you didn’t think Laura would have taken seriously as a challenge!

    22:33 I absolutely love the colour scheme of that vase! So natural and relaxing! Over here (Germany) you get a lot of great pottery, too. I love handmade pottery decoration! The greatest pieces often are from the 80s when it was very popular here. I remember back in school we all got the chance to make some pottery for ourselves, many schools have appropriate ovens for baking pottery.
    I once scored a second hand handmade kitchen wall clock in the shape of a red apple with the most amazing colours, but since it was an online purchase, it arrived broken. I could fix it, but after a few days the clockwork died. I can´t exchange it because someone glued it on with epoxy glue, but I didn´t have the heart yet to throw the clock away. It´s a cheap clockwork, the whole thing is most likely from the 80s, maybe I can find someone to repair it. I don´t know. Seems a waste of money on a second hand clock, but I love it so much!

    If you like that Austrian piece by Gustav Klimt (The Kiss) you should watch the movie about his other piece ‘Woman in Gold.’ The true story about it, starring Ryan Reynolds & Helen Mirren. Excellent film 😊

    I live in the greater LA area and I find studio pottery an about every other or every third time I go, now that I know what to look for. We have a pretty great pocket art scene here, but it’s nowhere near the way of being it is up where you are.

    Laura, I love your videos! Jesse is so great. I live just outside of Athens, GA where the University of Georgia is. There is a huge arts community there. Also, Asheville, NC has a huge arts community. I was waiting to see if you were going to get the blueberry bowl. I instantly recognized it as Stangl Pottery in PA, which has been out of business for a long time. My MaternaL Grandmother had the blueberry pattern for her everyday dishes. My Mom had the Thistle pattern for hers. Occasionally, I see pieces in antique consignment stores. It is so fun & brings back such special memories.

    Laura, when I find a piece of pottery or glass that I love with a rim chip, i use 220 sand paper and sand it smooth. For pottery I will use the ole nail polish touch up if necessary.

    I love the black horse ... the style is so flamboyant!
    And ... I actually kind'a LIKE the art in the metal frame you're going to put a print in!
    You are right either way about the vase ... I looked up "anatomy of a vase" and it's called both a lip and a mouth.
