For those asking (from Wiki) A Hanukkah menorah, or hanukkiah, is a nine-branched candelabrum lit during the eight-day Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. Eight of the nine branches hold lights (candles or oil lamps) that symbolize the eight nights of the holiday; on each night, one more light is lit than the previous night, until on the final night all eight branches are ignited. The ninth branch holds a candle, called the shamash ("helper" or "servant"), which is used to light the other eight. The Hanukkah menorah commemorates, but is distinct from, the seven-branched menorah used in the ancient Temple in Jerusalem. Most people incorrectly refer to this as a menorah, when in fact the correct name for the candleholder is Hanukkiah or Hanukkah menorah. A menorah, which has only seven candleholders, was the lamp used in the ancient holy temple in Jerusalem - now a symbol of Judaism and an emblem of Israel. A Hanukkiah, however, has nine candlesticks - one for each night of Hanukkah and an extra one to light the others. According to strict Jewish law, a Hanukkiah should have eight candleholders of the same height and a ninth branch that is set higher than the rest.
Hi Laura. I just discovered your channel and was watching this video. A really schronistic thing happened. At your 8:48 you mentioned you were looking for a patchwork dress from the 70’s. I had been going through some vintage clothing I have for sale and pulled out a vintage maxi patchwork sun dress right before watching this. So funny. It is a size 6. Would that happen to be your size? I would love to send you a photo if it is. I am not tech savvy so I would probably be able to do it through text or email. If you want photos let me know. It is all light pastel type colors. The brand is Grace Elements.
Come on ppl, can’t we get Laura to 100,000 subscribers this year?! Who’s with me? Share, share, share her great talents and awesome personality!!🎉🥰🎉and Happy New Year All!!
OMG! Lauren, you brought tears to my eyes, my JEWISH, teacher's eyes... 😁 (happy tears, btw) when you said "Chanukiya" instead of the "regular"... WORDS we're used to hearing... "Menorah" (which is a totally DIFFERENT thing) "Chanukah Lamp" (But according to Halacha, light is forbidden, so how... 🤔) and, of course, we have "Chanukah Menorah" 😮💨... (that Menorah once again). So, good on you, girl, for spreading the RIGHT terminology!
I love the flying birds piece, as well as the whole corner grouping. When you were hanging the birds I thought, "It's too high...no, wait, she'll put something on the piano and it will be fine". 😊 Sure enough, everything looks stunning.
I love traveling to thrift! Unfortunately my storage unit was just broken into and all of my inventory gone. About $25,000 just gone. Its just sad the amount of thieves there are in this world. But I love watching your videos as a reminder there are still some good people in the World. So thanks for taking the time to create these.
Yes, I've been a collector for most of my life. I had a collection of swarovski crystal and I was robbed by someone who I thought was a friend. Later I found out he was a professional thief! Now I have few friends or hardly any at all. I hate thievery!
So sorry to hear this. We have a storage unit in MD. Shortly after we packed it, it was broken into. The first thing the manager said to me was do you have any electronics in there? No, just household items and keepsakes. I don't think that anything was stolen, however it is a real violation of our personal items. Recently, our storage company changed to Cube Smart. They offer insurance on the units. Hope this information helps you.
I would love to see your shipping station and how you’ve set it up. I so enjoy your channel and get inspired over and over to collect what makes my soul happy. Thank you!
I've probably already commented on this older video, but I'm re-watching, and I had to say that I love the juxtaposition of the shiny black piano with all your wooden pieces. I know you said it's not your style, but I think it balances everything out so well.
I got really excited when I saw the round brass table top at min 4:40. I have that table. My mom bought it in 1972 from pier one imports. It’s something I grew up with and it brings me great comfort to still have it. I remember the day she bought it. It came with folding legs. The legs are long gone, they fell apart but I bought a base for it and it’s my living room coffee table. 😁👍🏻
Your ability to coordinate and style your finds is truly your super power! Love that you always show how you do this at the end of your videos. And unless you want a polyester quilted skirt, perhaps look for someone to make your dress for you.
Your ability to style all of your finds is just so inspiring. I love everything you pick up and I find myself adding to my bucket list after your videos. ❤️
Morning Laura,I always love watching your videos, love to see what you have up to where you are an what you have brought stay safe an well sending lv ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
My sisters house came with a piano she didn’t want. Her 12 year old daughter loved it and decided wanted to learn to play. So to make it a little more livable for my sister she painted it Navy Blue. I think it was chalk paint. So no shine. At first she panicked but once she got the clear wax on it, it changed it completely. I wish I could post a photo because it looks amazing!
Just watched this with my husband,he's now more addicted to your videos than I am!,Haha. You're videos got me through days & months of morning sickness with my 5th baby,so I thank you for that, haha, you don't know how much you helped take my mind off it every time I watched you!.Loved this video, thank you for taking the time to show us round & all your great finds & your home is beautiful 😍 xxx
Laura, you have such zest for life that you glow and your thirst for knowledge has no limits!! We are blessed that you share with us!! Thank you so much. Hope your new home projects are going well!!
Grrrrl... you are living the life! I love love love your channel. Your taste is fantastic, your personality is beautiful, your knowledge is impressive. Subscribed!
Some things you find and I love at first sight, but there are also quite a few that I would walk right past. You hold it up, tell us it’s amazing, and I’m like….hmmm. When you style it and I finally see what you knew all along, it’s like seeing those artists turn a paining upside down for the end reveal. I love it!
This made me smile! Thank you for your sweet words! I’ve always loved thinking outside the box with things and reimagining them since I was a kid. I’m so grateful to be able to share it on here on YT ❤️
I'm exactly the same. Laura goes nuts over the same things my mom had sitting around, which to my eye was just old stuff i had to dust on Sat mornings. The difference is Laura's ability to style the pieces in groupings that tell a story, rather than merely plunked down willie-nilly.
In my old house I had 4 large white globes for lighting hanging from high ceilings. They were all close to 30 inches in diameter. They had been purchased in the 1970's from a design store called "Skan". This shop was in northern Virginia and was very much the "in" place to shop MDM at the time. My husband, who is now deceased, would absolutely adore your films. Thanks so much.
I can remember when as a little girl in the 60’s we had a clock like you were showing us in the beginning of the vlog, with the most uncomfortable sectional sofa! I think the material had a lot to do with it. As time progressed in the 70’s ( my preteen and teenage years ), I noticed a lot of the lamps we had in our home! I’m happy to say, my parents got rid of the sectional sofa, which was then moved into our basement, used as a family room. Your spider plant brought back memories, as I made a macrame ( I mentioned in a previous vlog in comment section ),holder, which housed my mom’s spider plant. That alone screams the 70’s for me! Thank you for the memories!
I love everything you bought and everything in your home. I am a child of the 60s so I have an affinity for your style. Your new home is beautiful! I love your videos so much. Laura I never knew I had Aphantasia until you spoke of it. Thank you.💕
That's so funny. The South Tacoma antique mall is a longtime favorite, even before I had a store and I fell in love with Kelly's booths and just featured her in my last few videos. Girl that area looks so good! Love the rug
Oh girl, you just have the universe working for you. Gotta love this community of good taste..lol. Id LOVE the bird sculpture to be flush mounted, just my taste, but wow find. But what stood out most today was your lovely commentary 😊🇦🇺
LAURA I LOVE THE THINGS THAT YOU BOUGHT ESPECIALLY THE RUG I KNOW I'M HAVING A GOOD NIGHT SLEEP SEEING ALL THE BEAUTIFUL THINGS AT THE ANTIQUE STORES 🥰❤🦋🦋🦋🌻🌻🌻🐝
Your tiki collection are beautiful! Can't wait to see pics in August when you have your party. Such a fun video as always and thanks for taking us along!😀❤
How exciting to get that Curtis Jere piece !! I have a large Piece of his as well. Love ❤️ watching all your wonderful videos Laura. Thanks for all the information you provide. By the way I just donated a penguin 🐧 ice 🧊 bucket in your honor to my local thrift store !! 🤣😂😄
I have to laugh every time you see a "penguin in your video because I am in my 80s now but when I was in my much younger entertaining days we had one of them, as did everyone in that era and they seem to have multiplied and spread across the country, I live in Maine since I retired, the extreme "right coast" and I so enjoy your travel videos, it takes me to places I've never been to but would love to you do such a great job and your voice is so calming
Ooo! the Ser Mel girl is soo cool with the blonde braids~cant wait to see the bomb shelter when Jesse finishes it~so thrilled ya’ll get to move-in with the kitties 🙀😽

Thank you so much for taking me to Wheeler . The shop is amazing and the people are so helpful there. Have visited there for the last eight years around Thanksgiving time. Best place to buy Christmas gifts. My son is a reseller In Roseville California. He always finds mini goodies to take home.
In the midst of embryo adoption right now and so very nervous due to Covid, travel, last minute medical checkups etc Your video was a lovely distraction. Thanks.
That Sermel lady is so interesting that I had to look it up on ebay and there is one for sale just like the lady. Several in the Solds and some have sold for a lot of money. I think it's a good find 💜💙💚💛🧡
This was great! My trip to PNW just ended. I told every shop in Olympia, port Townsend, bend, hood river etc.. I watch Laura Caldwell and she was here too!
Such a thrill to go on adventure shopping and I love Mid Century wish I could get there for those clocks and the searching for nick ah nacks. Thanks for this video . Lucky you
Great trip….love your posts. We are hoping to make a girls trip to tour area within the next year. I appreciate your style, your thrifting, all of your posts….but, most of all your kind spirit
I absolutely love that Jesse is in charge of decorating the bomb shelter, and that he’s keeping it a surprise for you! Can’t wait to see what he does with that space! He has good taste like you so I am sure it will be FABULOUS!
P.S. Was I one of the first to know you had found the birds in flight when I tagged you in the one I found on Instagram? That’s when you told me you had just picked one up, so I thought I would get the one I tagged you in, but it was wayyyyyy out of my affordability range lol!
I’m excited to be learning so much about home decor, jewelry and decorating from your videos. I also love the 70’s aesthetic! I thrifted a leather camel with a rider that had a tag that said Egypt 1977. I thought it was meant as a holiday decoration. 🤷🏼♀️ Your home is looking amazing. I can see why your husband loves the birds in flight piece.
Hi Laura 😊 your videos are very calming. I always have one of your adventures playing in the background as I bake (I sell cookies) they are very relaxing.
The holiday is Hanukah, the festival of lights. This is a 9 candle Menorah used for that December time holiday. There is also a 7 candle Menorah used at Passover. On both, the middle candle is higher than the others and used to light the others.

I came here for someone to explain the differences
Thank you for explaining this... I thought it was a new car company: Hyundai Kia.

Definately find one of the blankets, BUT have a jacket made! That would be amazing.
So I live in Tacoma… it’s crazy to see how you see Tacoma. My thrifter friend and I love your channel.
Happy to see another sourcing road trip video from you.
The crab bowls would be awesome in a tiki theme party you could add tropical flowers as garnish
Love your finds and can appreciate your style! Such an eye for putting it all together. Keep it up, I so enjoy watching your videos 🥰💕
That rug is amazing and looks perfect in the space. 🥰
I don't understand why it is placed like that. The placement just doesn't look right and in a way diminishes the look of the rug.
Thanks.
The most beautiful outfit my mom ever wore was a patchwork skirt with a velvet black top. She reminded me of Snow White! Just an easier idea perhaps
That Sermel lady is so interesting that I had to look it up on ebay and there is one for sale just like the lady. Several in the Solds and some have sold for a lot of money. I think it's a good find 💜💙💚💛🧡
I like your bohemian style. 🤩 You have beautiful jewelries.
This was great! My trip to PNW just ended. I told every shop in Olympia, port Townsend, bend, hood river etc.. I watch Laura Caldwell and she was here too!
