I love that you shop at thrift stores that help good causes. In the U.K. we call them charity shops, but they’re usually much, much smaller than yours. I just think of all the good your purchases do - all the animals and people you’ve helped. Hats off to you!
I'm in my late 60's. It makes me laugh sometimes to see the things you pick up. It's the stuff I had back in 70's and have gotten rid of. It's fun to watch what you find. Thanks for sharing
@puplover6265, I love this too. I get a huge chuckle when Laura’s pondering what something could be. Especially when it’s something I used to use-and when she’s way off! 😂 Laura, never quit guessing! I used to go antiquing with my parents and grandparents in the 60s and 70s. They often giggled at my guesses for what I thought things were.

Maybe Ros Beiaard from the town of Dendermonde in Belgium. Medieval folklore horse with 4 brothers/ knights on top.
I always watch all my videos on 1.5 or 2 times the speed to get thru them faster. Your videos are truly the only ones I ever watch on regular speed!!! I just love them all so much!!
The wooden arched topped ‘totes’ are actually sewing machine boxes, i have a 25th anniversary Singer one 😊

Maybe the horse sculpture has something to do with " 't Ros Beiaard" tradition in Belgium as it has the 4 children riding it.

Thanks for this comment. I had never heard of this incredible sounding tradition. It must be tough to find four brothers without a sister between them with parents and grandparents born in Dendermonde. This sculpture looks very modern and there are girls and no armor but it could well be kind of an offshoot of this tradition! Very interesting!

What a great trip! We go to central Oregon a few times a year and I try to spare my teenagers from taking them to every thrift stores I see while on family trips. But I think it’s time for this mama to take a solo trip and hit some of these spots! Thanks Laura and Jesse!
The wooden fiery tree or tree-like fire sculpture is absolutely exquisite! The sculpture of the children on the horse is amazing. I am looking forward to hearing who the maker is!
I think the horse with four kids on it is a depiction of 'de vier heemskinderen' (I have no idea what that translates to in English 😂) on Ros Beyaert. It's a European story from the Middle Ages.

Thrifting and gardening actually feels like I have a purpose again and actually reduces my stress. I enjoy life better not and I’m a better mother to my teenager because of it. The store that had the lodge decor gave me the idea that you should do an episode on mixing different styles in with MID century. Like mid century gothic. Mid century lodge. Mid century mixed with 1980s. Keep in going !

Don't you think the cute base you got for $5 is a midcentury umbrella stand? That shape would be perfect to hang umbrellas on. It just needs some kind of dish at the bottom to collect water.

Visited that Bend habitat a few weeks ago and was also blown away by how cool it was! Did you see the cool figurine in the entryway??? Possibilities thrift just outside of Bend was INCREDIBLE.

What a fun and great haul. I'm wondering if the two stamps on the belly of the horse is actually the "belt" of the saddle? The reins are done in a similar fashion... that would make the branding on the rear the identifying mark (owner ID). Very interesting piece.

Re the horse with children on its back ... The way that the facial features are created reminds me of some figure that I inherited from my mother that she bought in Finland. They are packed away or I would see if there is a similar mark.

Another great video! You should stop into the new location for The Garage Sale Warehouse or now TGSW Antiques & Collectibles in Lake Oswego. It's smaller than the old Beaverton location, but it has great vendors. We have a booth. It's a mess as we are getting ready to reset for the fall. The owners are starting to focus on the store being more antiques and vintage. They no longer own the attached bar/restaurant so they are really focusing on the store. We had a wood shrunk with marble top and stained glass cabinet doors on top.
Re the kids on the horse--my great aunt used to have some figurines that looked similar to the kids on that horse. She probably bought the figurines in Norway, so you could try going down that path.
