The blue bowls are iron mountain pottery. The pattern that you picked up is called blue ridge. They are made in Tennessee. I have a whole set in brown. Great find!
The gnomes had to go with the fireplace. It was one thing finding the fireplace, but then to see the logs and the creepy gnomes from a Gnomes Christmas Carol...😢😅❤
I borrowed an overhead projector and painted a Seseme Street mural on my son’s bedroom wall. We sold the house and we offered to paint over the mural and they OH NO, don’t do that! We love it. Their daughter was a teen and never thought a teen would like it.

Business opportunity: Rent Jesse out by the hour to shop with people whose significant other hates to shop with them. He's got a good eye and loves shopping. You two are great together. ❤
I can't believe you don't know the Lilli Ann brand! Her beautiful coats sell for big bux and her garments are generally very good sellers. And so are vintage overhead projectors. Also...Pendleton is an Oregon-based company so I always find a ton of Pendleton items when I thrift in Oregon. I love their 1950s jackets and sweaters...sigh. Re: Bob Mackie, I just realized the other day that he designed all the fabulous costumes for the old Carol Burnett show!
Laura, I just had to pause your video and comment about the wool skirts. What an incredible selection! I lived in Portland in the early 80s( in my early 20s) and I got a number of Irish wool plaid skirts at goodwill, salvation army. Wore them with vintage cashmere twin sets of my Mom's and other vintage 40s and 50s sweaters. I topped them with a green leather car coat, buttery soft, an a wool beret. While everyone else dressed like Boy George or Madonna, I went vintage. Also thrifted 4 different Gunne Sax dresses. Wish I still had them for my 20 yr old daughter. I love arm chair shopping with you! Jesse too...
dmel, I still have my senior prom gunne sax dress. Everyone else went glamor girl, and I did my own thing. I last put it on sometime in the 80's, but couldn't zip it up in the back.
I think the wool skirt if from the 60's. My mother had a whole wardrobe of those and they had to be drycleaned and it would cost 5 cents a pleat to have them repressed and she would take them once a year to have them done before going into storage for the year.
Iron Mountain Stoneware made in Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. It is in Johnson County East Tennessee. It is no longer in business and we use to go every Thanksgiving weekend as they would have a big sale on their pottery. Your pattern is Blue Ridge. That is a big WOW finding in Oregon. Happy New Year, love you guys.
Laura, there is no doubt in my mind of you not being able to stage Jessie’s sentimental “indoor” gnomes. You’ll make it work like you do with everything else! I once asked a married coworker what’s her secret or advise for a long marriage...she replied, “...compromise, compromise, and COMPROMISE!!!” 😂🤣 You two are a great team that share a passion together, what a blessing!
Hey Laura!! You inspired me to look at rugs at my local thrift store and I found one for $95 (brand new!) that retails for $1300 🤓 just had to share. Love your channel!
The insulators, we rented a fire look out for a few days. It was in the air about 5 stories up on top of a cliff. Had a piece of machinery, that helped the forest ranger watch out for smoke. A ranger stopped by to check out the living area ( 20 x20) feet. We were the last renters then it was closed for fire watch. Inside was a bench about 3 feet wide and about 4 feet long. On the feet on the bottom were these insulators covering the wood. He told us that during lightning storms the ranger could and did sit on this with-their feet up and if the lookout was hit they weren’t hurt.
Ah, those shorts! My "going out" (clubbing) outfit circa 1991 was plaid shorts, black tights and shoes, black velvet oversized blazer with big brooches on the lapels, and a black furry hat. I'd actually wear that again in a heartbeat. I just need the shorts.
I thinnk Laura's idea of a little Gnome Home in the forest is a really good one! Barring that, maybe you could flank the fireplace with plants and have the gnomes peeking out from an indoor "forest"!
Your husband is funny! I like when you opened the ceramic tortilla holder and you saw the inside was blue. You said, "I wasn't expecting to see blue." He said, "I like to surprise you." Also, I love the big roll of wrapping paper you found in the antique store's basement and the gnomes and fireplace upstairs. Although your husband doesn't see your vision for a gnome house outside, I think it would be really cute. Do you have "little free libraries" in Oregon? You could make a house like that with plexi- glass doors or windows that would protect the gnomes. Gnome saying? Oh, I almost forgot. I love your wedding photos with the old convertible. Very cute!
In the mid to late 60s, when I was in high school, those short, pleated, wool skirts & shorts were in style. We wore them with knee socks & penny loafers.
Great fireplace!!! I'm writing myself a note to get over to my parents house and grab the 1960's 12" ceramic 7 dwarfs she (my mom), has out in the pool shed waiting for Summer; got to bring those guys in from the cold; LOL!!!!!
your hubby is dreamy! But I like you more! LOL Keep up the great work! Y'all's house is unbelievable too! I;m a 63 yr old woman that loves me some MCM!
I think yoiu could absolutely sell the shorts in NY! With tights, they look awesome! They look great with a turtleneck and a blazer! LOVE the Bob Mackie. I knew that was Mackie the second I saw it. I have several of his shirts. So much fun!
Me too! 🎉 We found a similar one with a cabinet built in on each side on the side of the road in our neighborhood with a FREE sign on it!! My partner and I were walking our dogs and we thought JACKPOT! Too heavy to carry home so my partner brought back the car and since I’m disabled she had to lift it in the trunk herself which was hilarious to watch and it stuck halfway out. I was so nervous on our short drive back home and SO happy it didn’t fall out lol
I have outdoor arden gnomes that were my Moms. You can spray them with a clear coat that helps protect them. Mine are still in really good condition because of clear coat.
just stumbled across your video.....really enjoyed the vibe of the 2 of you bouncing off of each other in the thrift stores - going to have to binge watch your other videos now. Hey from Australia.
You two cracked me up tonite….”guaranteed to start a real fire!”….so funny!! And the weird coincidences…the gnomes and electric logs! But I agree….that fireplace is RAD! And Jessie’s indoor gnomes look pretty good sitting on it! Thanks for the laughs and Happy New Year!💕
The fireplace you bought reminded me of the one in my parents home growing up. It was a real one, though this was truly a fun video, I really enjoy it when you and Jesse thrift together.
My dad was a lineman in 60’s and would bring home boxes of insulators all colors. My grandmother had a hanging lamp made from broken up insulators. It was so pretty. Not sure what happened to that lamp. Great video! How fun. Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year Laura and Jessie. Great video as always. The wool skirts and shorts - I'm in the UK - I was wearing those late 1970's and through the 80's. The plaid skirts were a joy in the Winter - so warm when travelling to work (I worked in banking). We wore with pure lambswool or cashmere jumpers or silk shirts/wool tank top. Flat loafers. It was I think called a "preppy look". Like another poster has said, I would wear those clothes again in a heartbeat. So we'll made, lasted to. Only pain was everything had to be dry cleaned. Was worth it. Wishing viewers a healthy and peaceful 2024, from West Wales UK 🇬🇧 🏴

Love you guys! I was a teacher for over 30 years and loved my overhead projector UNTIL the document camera came to be! What an awesome teaching tool! You just put your paper under the camera that’s connected to the video projector and voila! The students can see you mark up the same document without the nasty messy marker pens we used to use with the transparencies. ❤

That carved wooden monk you saw at the Goodwill store is like one my grandma had. I was just thinking about it and wondering if it was worth money now. Nope, they go for $20 - $30. Love the bathrobe jacket too. I think it is adorable that Jesse is so sentimental about those gnomes. I feel so old because when I was on college in the '90s, I used a overhead projector while making presentations. Great finds!
Thanks for letting me tag along with you two. I'm new here, but I feel like I've been here for awhile. You're both so warm and welcoming that you make it easy to take a seat on the sofa and hang out and see what you've been up to. Happy 2024, To You, & Yours!

HELLO! I have the same fireplace in my basement, my parents, before mine. The heat still works on mine too, but it will smell a bit upon first use. It goes away after a bit, or you get used to it! Anyway... I wouldn't sell it, but iI looked online and didn'e see any like it for sale. Glad you love it too... it warms my heart.
