Who else is jealous of Laura's goodwill. Mine aren't even close to them, in quality and price's. I'm happy for you Laura don't get me wrong. But I wish they all were awesome as well. Love your shopping together too. It was a great idea Jesse.
The ash tray with the picture of Fable Cottage (18:26)is a tourist attraction that used to be in Victoria BC and was purchased by a guy who moved it to Denman island as a private residence.
I’m enjoying very much your series going to all Goodwills in the area. I have to say the evolution of Jesse has been remarkable. He adds a new dimension to your thrifting. Now that he’s soooo comfortable on camera his true personality is shinning through. Include Jesse like you have been occasionally as it is a pleasant surprise and adds a spin on your thrifting style. It’s easy to see why you two are together - 2 peas in a pod! lol
I agree with everything you mention but I wonder about his comment regarding the possibility of cookies going stale when they encounter the first cookie jar. Has Jesse never had a cookie? Perhaps Jesse is secretly a robot? lol
The glass flower frog like that one actually sat in the top of a vase and the stems went through to the water. That’s why there’s a rim or lip on it. The work in the bottom, too. Loving your 50 visits!
Fable Cottage was a private home in Victoria, BC, Canada that was turned into a tourist attraction after the owners received so much attention from passers by. It was on a waterfront property looking across to San Juan Island. When I was 14 I worked as a tour guide there. The home was later floated up the island and now resides on Denman Island, a little north east of Vancouver Island. A very cool place indeed!!
I think it was on your first stop you picked up the two matching lamps and I wasn’t excited like you were, but then you showed a picture of them with the pleated lampshades you scored previously and WOW they were beautiful! What an eye you have!
We have 2 cookie jars. The grandkids ask Da(grandpa) to make cookies to fill the jars all the time. Oldest granddaughter leaving for college, asked for a full cookie jar for her dorm!
Sponge holder for the frog. My mom and ALLLLLLL her ceramic friends made these. They were on the kitchen sinks of EVERYONE I knew in the mid 70's to mid 80's
I have been selling online since 1999 and can honestly say I have learned more from you than I have in the past almost 25 years. Thank you so much for your insights.
@@mariaroldan4200Yep, my husband started in March 1999 and I started selling in September of that year In those days, you could sell a rare CD from Morrissey or Maria Carey for $1,000. Some VHS videos were valuable and there was far less competition. People could also pay by cash and we had tons of mail every day. Things are a bit different these days Rather not share my store name on this forum.
Woke after dreaming about thrifting. Then saw you had posted. So, fed the cat, made a coffee and crawled back into bed for a rainy Saturday morning treat.
Laura, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to express my heartfelt appreciation for the joy and positivity you bring into my life through your content. Unfortunately, I must share some difficult news-I'm currently navigating a challenging journey as my partner battles cancer. This has understandably shifted my focus to being present and finding solace in faith during this time. I was so eager when you announced your flea market and joining one of your trips, as I had been preparing throughout the year with thrifted items for a show. However, amidst these unforeseen circumstances, I find myself feeling scared and alone, especially since my family is far away. Despite these challenges, I want you to know how genuinely happy and proud I am for you and Jesse. Your achievements and adventures inspire me greatly. Your videos I never miss, you have become a comforting presence, almost like friends. If you could spare a moment to send positive thoughts or prayers my way, I would deeply appreciate it. Your kindness and support mean a lot during this difficult time. Thank you for teaching me so much. Susan 🙋🏻♀️🥺🥺🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️🌹
Sending my positive thoughts to you and your partner. I battled cancer myself, and here I am: 12 years later and well. Battle it together, and come out stronger....All the best to you both!
As you pointed out in this video, there are many artistic people in the Washington/Oregon area and that’s why your finds are so unusual. My local stores are full of dollar tree kitsch 😢
We still watch Bob Ross! I was coming home from work super stressed part of last year. Hubby would find a Bob Ross episode on RUclips or Tubi and we would unwind with Bob before bed..... happy little trees!
I totally agree with Jesse, you have such a good eye for spotting amazing hidden pieces that most people would not see or look at twice. I swear you’d be able to find a needle in a haystack if it was vintage lol!
Definitely a sponge holder, that frog! I’ve sold several and I keep one in my kitchen by my sink :D he works good for the SOS pads and sponges if I shove them in longways 😅 I even have one in my booth right now!
As a floral designer, that glass flower frog would go inside the upper end of the vase, pushing the flower stems through. In a large vase, there is a putty to keep the frog stable in the bottom too. Use that type both ways. 💐 🌹 🌸 🏵 🌼
Look at Jesse coming up with all the right answers! The most famous vampire designer has to be Lestat or Armand! You missed out on the mid century Paul Stanley mug! 😂😂
Seeing your find of 80’s lamps I instantly thought of my Mom’s love for hers. I laughed out loud because I couldn’t stand hers and I absolutely loved yours, once you added the shades! A few seconds later, an unexpected display of Betty Boop…I couldn’t believe my eyes, she was my Mom’s fave! Thank you for the heart smiles today ~ ♥️
The bird sculpture is a heron ... usually when they have the backward facing crest like that, they're herons or egrets (though some cranes have crests too, just a different shape). Forgive my ornithology nerdery. LOL Cool piece!
The frog is a ceramic small sponge holder. They were very popular to make in the 80s in a ceramics class. Jesse is very knowledgeable about items as well. You are so lucky to have so many Goodwills to go to.
I love watching you and Jesse shop together. I’m jealous because my significant other doesn’t see the value of thrifting. I’m collecting things here and there to start an eBay store. I know and my family tell me I would be successful doing with what I buy. They try to buy stuff from me but the heart that I have I just give it to them. I would rather see someone happy than the money. I always thrift for gifts instead of buying new and everyone loves the idea of what it is worth and not that I thrift it. I tell everyone I would rather have a gift from goodwill or a yard sale than new.
That fish plate actually came in a set with a platter and plates with little mini bowls for melted butter anyway those are from the 60s grab them up. They are amazing!
I was feeling a bit sad that the multi-Goodwill adventure was coming to a close ... so I like to hear that you might do a variation of it...make it SOON, Laura! And, yesl, your videos always are a treat!🤩
The white vase could be a German Kaiser vase made from bisque porcelain. Would have to see if there is a stamp on the bottom. Hope that helps a bit. Love your videos so much. Hugs from Bavaria, Germany
Oh man I would've cried happy tears to find that ship TV lamp!! The Frog is for an SOS pad…every house had one in the 70’s.
Still have the one I made in 1975.
Yes it was a common hobbiest piece to make in ceramics in the 70’s. Scrubby holder for putting next to your kitchen sink.
@@laraemitchell9064they were easy and functional 😊
Yep
I just broke mine😢had it forever
Jesse is on point this episode. He knows about bronzed baby shoes and frog sponge holders. Go Jesse!
I was thinking the same thing!
I knew the bronzed baby shoes, my parents both had theirs, my sis and I and my two kids.
Don’t forget Fish Platters !
Sold these frogs in my ceramic shop in the early 70s. They held a round scrubbie that was popular back then.
Plastic scrubby.

Seriously! There is only one Goodwill store in my state (Rhode Island). I may have to take a trip to the west coast to experience this grandeur! 😂
Mine in Arkansas are a joke, but when I lived in Colorado they were much like hers.
I'm in rural Georgia. One Goodwill which is awful.
Yeah, I live in Washington and mine are outrageous in pricing.
New Zealand is the pits compared to Laura’s goodwills 😢
"That's a little bit more than I want to pay for a Patterson." 😂😂😂 The gilding on the fins. 🤣 I love Jesse's sense of humor.
I’m so glad I get to share him with all of you now 😂😂😂🙌

Yes, I have a whale sponge holder in my kitchen that I love. It's all white.
