1) You two are hilarious and I love when you shop together. 2) You TOTALLY should have done a head staging challenge! It’s not too late! You can make it a short! LOL
The embroidered fabric is an antique sandwich wrap Emily era 1920's. It has an oriental Tori gate with trees that then has a Zen garden scene. So it is likely to remind the person eating their lunch/meal to relax as though you are at an Asian park entrance . where you enter through the gate and find solitude and peace at the Zen garden. I found some while living in Japan during the mid 1970's. A very rare find, I am so happy you bought them. They sell anywhere from $7.50 to $20 each.
Without the blue eyes, the head would be too Michael Myers from "Halloween." WITH the blue eyes, however, it's just a goofy head. I know Jesse will find some way to use it in a fun manner. He seems silly like that (in a good way).
That little wood candle holder was made by artist Dixie Wajdic. She is from Lakeside Montana by Flathead Lake and these pieces are made from old cedar fence posts. She is very prolific and I would not be surprised if that number reflects it being the 1806th piece she has made.
I am so glad someone else knows this artist. I just picked up a piece of hers on a recent trip to Idaho and it has some of the barbed wire still on the piece...love it!
I favor the idea of napkins for an afternoon tea, as there were so many of them. I think the embroidery represents a garden structure, probably a tea house. A roofed structure with open air sides that is useful but also provides an eye catching point of interest to the landscape. Always more fun with Jesse around! This is the best series!
The metal fold up tray was for a Kodak Carousel Slide Projector. My dad had one and it had a plug in "remote" that operated the advancement of the slides. High Tech for the 70's!
I came here to say that. Jesse picked up the screen a few months ago for outdoor movies, and this is the table that the projector sits on! Go back! Go back!
I love that you went back for the head! Think of the fabulousness it can bring to your life with possible pranking and general humor. Please let us know if you name it. I would prank family members by putting it in the fridge.
When I was 12 years old, I traveled from CA to Idaho with my parents and Aunt/Uncle. We visited a great- aunt there. She showed me how to make little rocking chair with a pin cushion seat out of a soda can. She rolled strips of the can to make quite a fancy looking chair. That was in 1967. Blessings, Janell
I think Jesse should have a vintage booth, filled with "man cave" items. A niche we don't see often. Now, of course, he will need to take us along on his thrifting too, but we need that along with your regular videos.
I inherited my grandparents tin craft that they made in the 70’s, I even have the instruction book! I was obsessed with the doll furniture as a kid. My grandma would paint and upholster the furniture. Awesome to see you pick some up!
That moment of thrift panic regret on Jesse’s face when you suggested the head would be gone… 😮😂 Also - my fave this week is hands down the large metal candle holder. Fabulous. 🖤🕯️
Jesse often verbalizes what I am thinking at the same moment. I was thinking “grenade” lamp when he mentioned it. In a previous video he commented he didn’t care for clear vases, because he didn’t like to see the stems; I agree! His comments on bronzed baby shoes were also right in line with my opinion. Kindred spirits!
I just love your vibe as a couple. You can see there is friendship and love but also mutual respect and that is very precious! Love can get lost if you lose that...never let go.
I am interested in reselling glassware and ceramics, and this channel has been an absolutely charming and invaluable education. I especially love this Goodwill series! You have incredible taste (I'm sure you hear that all the time). Thank you for all this info and fun!
Such a delight when both of you are "hilariously coordinated"with each other...going back to GW for THE HEAD.Just loved it when Jessie is also participating/ commenting if an item is valuable, functional or otherwise.More power to both of you!🥰❤💐👍
Jessie, the napkin conversation (both of them) was so hysterical. You had been so good at being supportive and then BAM. I loved the break out man talk about decorative napkins. You both are so fun to watch.
You two are something else. You make me laugh, and I’m so glad Jesse came up with this great idea going to all the goodwills. It’s been so much fun! Thanks for the laughs.
Talking about Jesse's dad working at a foundry brought back memories to me. I worked at an aluminum foundry for 8 years. There was a sand mold department and when they poured the liquid aluminum it was clear like water.
I loved this episode! maybe my favorite so far. You guys are so cute together. I love that Jesse went back for “the head”! It definitely kept me smiling. Keep it going!!!
I toured Alcatraz many years ago, and there was a head much like the one Jesse bought there on display. A prisoner had made it, put it in a pillow filled bunk, as he tunnelled out and escaped. His was paper mache and much lighter though.😉
I am loving this series! I love when Jesse comes with you, also. I think the “napkins” are handkerchiefs. They look like the kind my mother and grandmother made before tissues were prevalent (or even invented, lol).
I absolutely adore your channel Laura. You are a fabulous couple. Thrifitng or ‘Opp shopping’ as we call it down here (New Zealand) is just not a patch on yours. You have impeccable taste and an absolute talent for styling. Go you!!
Folex works great on stains too - I've taken a small spray bottle with me - sprayed the stain - keep thrifting and then check before I leave - Most times the stain is gone!
Hilarious...I've been watching you for years and this was the funniest episode...that head and those napkins. Too good you guys...love it!! And yes please stage with the head..I wanna see that!!
Loved the East Salem/ Salem discussion. We live in SE Idaho. There's a small town called Preston, ID and ten miles west is another town called Weston. We crack up every time we pass the mileage sign on the freeway. 😊 Love this series! You two are like a great comedy team.
I live in New Mexico. The All American Futurity is the richest race in Ruidoso. The just recently had large fire there which did a great amount of damage. They are now dealing with severe flooding from the burn scar. We used to race quarter horses. One of the horses we had still holds a track record there. Interesting I had never seen the decanter before.
I would never use those napkins as napkins either. I would use them under items that you may have on your buffet. We used to use like lace runners or doilies under certain things on our buffet and I just think that you could stage those really well laura, I couldn't but you could! 😊
That radio @ 22:13 is one that I've had just about forever. My dad pulled the innards out around 1956 & was used as a storage cabinet. I have in my dining room now.
Love these videos. ❤❤ The metal candle holder is fabulous. Can't wait to see how you style it in your beautiful home. Loved the teapot too! Congrats to Jessie on finding the head! 😂
Tin art was popular in the mid 70’s. We actually collected old beer cans to make lanterns and votive candles in art class. The projected light from them was pretty neat. Love when you and Jessie shop together!!
The tall metal lamp reminds me of one I had one many years ago and it had a big round shade with metal bands between beige stained glass. It reminds of the Frank Lloyd Wright era.
That piece would be beautyfull on your little Italie table! So many cusions! Love the paisleydress Put that head in the window, you will never get burglars lol Thank you for sharing X
We had a similar vacuum like the data vacuum, when I was a little girl, very 60’s! Loved the banter from you two, reminds me of my hubby and myself, especially when Jesse found the creepy head! Thoroughly enjoyed your vlog and the finds you found!
I’ve been laughing like crazy watching you two talk about the candle holder with the wick in it! It reminds me of a line from Back To The Beach. Annette and Frankie’s son says to them “It’s quite a piece of dialogue when you two intellectual giants get together, I should be writing this down!” Love your videos!
The folded square table with electrical cord, is for a slide projector or a movie projector. At least that's what my parents used it for back in the 60's. I still have it 😊
I worked for many years in a HUGE craft store in Salt Lake City. The owner showed me how to quill she was a master at it. I find it hard to do now my fingers don't cooperate. But it can be so pretty.
Jessie and the napkins … hilarious! I enjoy when you two go together. My late husband and I used to go together thrift store shopping- he had a similar personality and we used to have so much fun! Found a few treasures too! Also love your style and the items you choose. Enjoy!!
Sure, do find it entertaining watching the episodes when you two are together shopping. How blessed you two are, having each other. When it comes to removing stains, I first wet the stain with water, so the fabric threads open up then I apply the stain remover and let it soak in. Seems to work. Just sharing.
the head with the blue eyes for your outdoor garden, lol! Just plopped in the ground for a scare effect 😅 Love that Jesse wouldn't use those delicate napkins for BBQ, I so laughed when he said that. It is so fun coming along with you two while strolling the Good wills, etc. together. The entertainment value is there for sure!🥰
1) You two are hilarious and I love when you shop together. 2) You TOTALLY should have done a head staging challenge! It’s not too late! You can make it a short! LOL

Absolutely ❤ed
But it has to be for Halloween
My thoughts exactly!😄

Not Emily 🤦🤷autocorrect ... DOILY.
WOW!
Thank you! I've never head of a sandwich wrap of this type before. So gorgeous.
I'm guessing the Japanese person opening the lunch wrap didn't have mustard or bbq sauce to soil their beautiful wrap
Interesting! I thought maybe it was a handkerchief.
“I can hear the awkward silence coming through the screen”. Jesse is spot on.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
No awkward silence here I was cracking up with a huge smile!😂
Without the blue eyes, the head would be too Michael Myers from "Halloween." WITH the blue eyes, however, it's just a goofy head. I know Jesse will find some way to use it in a fun manner. He seems silly like that (in a good way).
@@susanalfieri4487 YES Michael Meyers from Halloween, that's what it looks like.
Great fun...😂
The wrought iron lamp turned lampshade with wooden base was beautiful.
Put in another vote for a head staging series... You guys are absolutely fantastic together❤

You two just crack me up! I love that you drove 30 minutes back to get the 50 pound head! So entertaining! 🤣
You two never fail to put a big ole smile on my face 😌
The way you took love each other and complement each other is truly inspiring
Oh! What did you do with the head Jesse?

Interesting!
I had a childhood flashback too! 🥰
Slides show's were a thing

The nieces and nephews are gonna get scared for sure! I bet he just leaves it in a different place or room every day and I end up getting scared 🤣
@@leftcoastrevivalsoh no. For you I hope not! 😅
@@leftcoastrevivals that 😂is hilarious!
I'm dreading the end of this series; the head totally needs to be styled.
Yeah Laura if you don't style that head we... Well everyone other than myself, will boycott your channel😂

How special! ❤️ thanks for sharing this memory!
YES! We did that too!
That's what I remember from the 70s. Some didn't get painted, and you could still see Pepsi or Coke (Budweiser or Coors) names.
Jessie with that head had me cracking up.
Yes, it’s interesting looking at some of the stuff he picks up.
Hello Jesse and Laura i love watching you two together!! You bring a lot of calm to my heart! Love watching you both. Happy Thrifting😊
I think Jesse should have a vintage booth, filled with "man cave" items. A niche we don't see often. Now, of course, he will need to take us along on his thrifting too, but we need that along with your regular videos.
I think we should start taking bets on when Jesse finally gets so into this he opens a booth somewhere. We all know how addictive vintage is...
with an impressive number of fish dishes each with their own story and and other fish-related items 🤣
PLEASEEE i want to see you staging that head 🤣🤣. i love you Guys , your videos make my Fridays better
Im crying, love the head. I can see it on a platter at the Tiki Party. 😅
What a great idea
Sooo happy you went back to get the head. Made Jesse’s day!
I inherited my grandparents tin craft that they made in the 70’s, I even have the instruction book! I was obsessed with the doll furniture as a kid. My grandma would paint and upholster the furniture. Awesome to see you pick some up!
