The jar, styled with wood around it, looked beautiful with the flowers-because the wood brought out the rich color in center of the flowers. Before you styled them I would’ve said no to the floral.
The flower side makes the arrangement of items appear organic. I think keeping the flowers on it whoever buys it can have more options to use it in different ways.
About 13 minutes in - Laura, I hope that the idea you released into the Universe, about the 1970's Mikasa Dahlia set, comes to fruition! You deserve to have your name out there as the incredible stylist that you are! Any TV or movie set would be lucky to tap your talents! I look forward to seeing your name in the credits! Then, I can tell everyone that, "Hey, I know that girl!" So, here I am, adding my positive energy to yours as your ideas seek their home amongst the ☆stars☆
Disillusionment warning : I once talked to a woman in a thrift store who was a “picker”/ “prop sourcer” for movies and tv , and I told her I thought that would be such a fun job. She said it is …except when you need to find 70s and all you find is 90s…😮. Maybe the way around that is to buy everything from every era!😁
As a potter, I must warn you about crazing. It is actually a 'break' in the glaze. If you put wet food, greasy food (i.e., dips) in the serving pieces, it will seep into the piece and stain. You need to be careful with crazed pieces The FABULOUS fabric window coverings are custom so yes, handmade, not "homemade". LOVE today's finds!! edit - I think the flowers on the pretty pedestal jar is a decal or transfer. If you scrub or use a chemical to remove it, it could damage the surface.
Every night we ate dinner on that Mikasa set! Seeing them brought back so many wonderful dinner time memories. I could even smell moms mashed potatoes and gravy...😂😂😂❤❤❤
My only complaint today is that I am out of Laura videos to watch! You are my absolute guilty pleasure. Thank you for being you! You are my best friend out thrifting with me (in my mind) lol 💙
This series is THE BOMB! Jesse did not know what inspiration he created with the “challenge.” Hopefully he will join you on this quest soon. LOVE your channel so much!👏
The bowl 7:59-8.40 is by famous Russian porcelain and majolika factory founded in year 1809. The marking you have on your bowl they started putting in 1974. It symbolizes the branch of a spruce tree. The name of the factory is Konakovo. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw you finding it at Goodwill. Had to watch three times😁. But yeah, this is definitely it!

Laura, you have opened my eyes in the ways that I style my home so much. I live at the beach and I love my very rustic coastal style decor. But you have totally shown me that I can mix other styles in and it looks amazing. Everything in my home is handed down or Thrifted except our mattresses. And if I didn’t thrift the piece I used Thrifted or found materials to build it myself. I never would have thought to pick up that little black dog but I love it and I have added pieces from mid-century to Victorian to modern here and there in my home yet still maintaining that rustic beach cottage look. We moved six months ago into our little forever home, and I just finished decorating it about three weeks ago. I took my time and used all the things that bring me joy. I will always be changing things out and enjoying new pieces and letting other pieces go to their new forever home. I cannot thank you enough for showing me how adding brass or other things I would never have thought to add to my decor, because I thought I didn’t like those type of things, but it makes my rustic wood stand out and seem even warmer somehow. A friend of mine , that I hadn’t seen in years ,and her daughter were vacationing in my area so they came by for a visit . Her daughter, who was four the last time I saw them is now a photographer and asked if she could photograph my home for a spread she has been thinking of putting together on California Coastal homes. I literally laughed out loud because I have seen the spreads that she does and they are not of homes full of Thrifted and handmade items. She said that is exactly why she wanted to photograph my home, because she has been wanting to do a piece on how to decorate beautifully without spending a fortune🤯🤭Everything is still in the planning stages but just being asked was so thrilling and such a huge compliment. This NEVER would have happened without you inspiring me to try something new 😁❤️
I LOVE that you got that full green Mikasa set, even if it was pricey when it was all added up. You did the vintage community a service! If that was left at goodwill, a piece would have been picked up here and there and the entire set would have been separated and never reunited. Even if your profit isn't great, you did a wonderful job for the preservation of vintage so that it can be cherished as it should have been and eventually become an antique!
I am not a flowery girl but the yellow flowers did make that jar pop. My vote is to keep it the way it is. It was washed out with the white wall. Awesome video.
Hey Laura, I think you should keep the flowers on the apothecary jar. There is something special about keeping an object as is, even if it is not your aesthetic. Preserving an object so it can be enjoyed and admired by future owners who may love the flowers. You can enjoy it as a plain jar, just by turning it around like you did in your video.
Laura, you are so positive and full of joy! Pair that with your knowledge of vintage items, and you've made such a must see channel! I love this current series!
The Hans am Ende print depicts a peat moss ship on the Hamme river north of Bremen (Northern Germany), The river flows through the Teufelsmoor (Devil's moor) where people cut peat moss for burning and for fertilizing, and transported it by water way.
This series is amazing. Your videos are perfectly paced with stellar content balance. Your demeanour is positive and relaxing. Delightful! Wishing you continued success.
I'm from Victoria (Australia). I've just come across your channel and have binge-watched your videos going back several years. I used to go on "op-shop crawls" with my friends (an "op-shop", short for 'Opportunity Shop" is what we call thrift stores here). And the use of the word "crawl" is usually used in the context of "going on a pub crawl" which means spending the day driving from bar to bar with friends (never of any interest to me!) Your videos inspired me to go op-shopping by myself this afternoon. I collect Mid-Century fine china (and crystal) as well as handcrafted pottery. I also keep an eye out for craft resources too. I hit 4 local stores today and 3 of them had a 50% off everything sale, due to the End-of-Financial-Year (Australia's EOFY is on 30th June). I've bought some beautiful china as well as hand-crafted items for so little, it's ridiculous! E.g., I bought a large Alfred Meakin Fine Bone China lidded vegetable serving dish for 7.50 AUD (4.98 USD), a lathed wooden salad bowl with matching salad servers for $3 AUD (1.98 USD) that looks like it's never been used and a handcrafted pottery platter decorated with abstract magnolias (so beautiful it could be hung as wall-art) for $1 AU (66 cents in USD). It seems to have had a paper ID on the back which has been removed, so I'll try to find another online.) I really enjoyed myself; thanks for inspiring me to get back into "op-shopping"! I'm going to hit the Salvo's Op Shop -plus some others - tomorrow!
I think the pitcher with the flowers on it it's rather German; with typical German flowers as edelweiss, gentian, cowslip and lady's slipper orchid. Flowers from the Alps, so it could be South German or possibly Austrian or Swiss. Greetings from Germany! ;)
Love the wooden Starship Enterprise planter! What a beautiful modernist, art-deco homage to the original series! Someone's got a good eye... Even though, as we all know, TNG will always be king. Nanu nanu🖖🤓
You found such great stuff again today. I like your filming pace, giving us a chance to really look with you. Your editing techniques are great too - The car commentary and clips of the items styled keep things interesting and varied. You're a pro.
I am always amazed at the selection at your local Goodwill stores. I am an old thrifter, having lived in NY, MD, and now FL. I don't ever remember seeing such goodies. I'm thrifting vicariously through you!
My local GW stores in the SF east Bay Area don’t have the quality and quantity of items that I always see in the Oregon and Washington stores Laura shops in.
I’m not a vintage decorator but I love watching all the vintage pieces you pick up. Some bring back family memories and some just make me shake my head and laugh that they can sell for so much! I really enjoy coming along beside you for these trips down memory lane. Keep up the great content! And thanks! 🤩
I’m actually surprising myself, but on the apothecary jar…I think I like the flowers! It’s typically not my style, but the yellow plays nicely off the warm brown tones. A nice retro look😊
You are by far the most creative stylist of the items you find. Now when I thrift, I look at items and think of the ways it can be styled up. You are an inspiration.
Hi, Laura, you have admirers from Russia. And I wanted to say, that the bowl with the lid (with birds)is Russian, a well known ceramic plant, 1970s, Konakovo, ZIK
The black dog, am I the only one who would probably touch up the tiny chip with a magic marker or something? 😁 That green Mikasa set. I was so happy you bought it! It is gorgeous and such a rarety of being in pristine condition.
You would be an ideal picker for a television show and you have the most kind personality and grace to mingle your way up...said anyone that watched your channel 😊
Hi Laura, been having fun thrifting again. Thought you would enjoy a little chuckle. When I go through the glassware aisle, when I spot a couple of glasses that are super cute, I look to see if there are more that got separated and I join them together.
Apothecary Jar: I love both. Depending on what you’re displaying it with, both ways would work. Just put the flower in the back when you don’t want to use it. 😊
Just found your channel today. I live in the UP of MI. Very small town. My only GW is 40mi away. I love shopping GW but mine is overall too high priced. My health isn't the greatest at the moment so thrifting with you today has been a blessing . Thank you for taking me shopping with you.
The pitcher at 26:10 could be Austrian, Bavarian or Swiss. The flowers are from the Alps (the Blue is Enzian, the white is Edelweiss, the orchid is called Frauenschuh) greetings from Austria
Those 2 art glass amoebic bowls _ashtrays in blue and green are Canadian Chalet Art Glass. Practically Murano glass because innitiators of the studio were brothers Tedesco from Venetian glassworks. It all started in early 50s 😊 Looks like the other pieces could be Chalet glass as well..Especially that basket shaped vase. I'm Canadian and had .bowls ashtrays and vase baskets like those in amber....citrine...forest green. .and fiery red.
Well..they are made by people from Murano !!!! Using identical glassmaking techniques as any other Italian Murano art glass Only made in Canads.❤ There used to be a gallery of Chalet Art Glass in.-Vancou er. 26:35 I have found a twin to my deltoid Chalet bowl with iridescent pink edge. Sold on Ebay for over $300 😊😊😊😊😊
Holy cow Laura, you really hit the jackpot on this trip. It’s amazing watching the way you hunt for these incredible pieces that everyone before you seemed to have missed.
Glass pickups at 22:55 are giving me CHALET GLASS FROM CANADA Vibes, esp the bases; really high-quality mid-century Art Glass line, Made in Canada, designed by Italian Glass masters employed by the Chalet Glass factory in Canada...it is great stuff in its own right, and gets mis-attributed all the time. Great shopping trip! I am having a blast riding along ! Thank you! ❤
I would keep the flowers and not risk damage. The all white looks elegant & classy. Flowers are soft & romantic. You can show either side & have the best of both worlds. ❤
Your Goodwill stores in the PNW have beautiful items that I don’t see in the Goodwill stores on the east coast. Awesome find on the Italian lamp, I was thrilled for you! Loving this series.
I don't think they donated their collection. I think the kids did after they passed away. I had to donate some of my mom's things to the German recycling center after she passed. I could only afford to ship 2 shipping containers to the states. I am glad I took all the good stuff as all the glassware and dishes were thrown into boxes to be recycled. I still cried. I tried to give furniture away but everyone wanted the free stuff delivered and I had no car. I shipped all the vintage and antique things to the states.😢 still paying for it. Lol
Ok so I absolutely loved the opaque jar in white I thought it was stunning. When you turned it around and I saw the enamel flowers my heart fell No you can’t remove enamel but if it’s just hand painted you can. When you styled it just in its own glory no flowers I thought it was simply elegant but when you turned the flower side around I was shocked to discover it in all its glory. It made the vignette to be honest. It looks elegant , natural, and absolutely bounced of the screen. So yes Laura you made this minimalist non fussy glass obsessed girl fall in love with fussy flowers lol. Well done 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻. I am now team flowers😂
Loving your outfit today, with the black and white shirt and coordinating earrings! Oh, and can’t forget the awesome hat! You always look great, but I especially like this one. 😊. As for the curtains, I think it would make a beautiful garment of some kind. A kimono jacket would have simple lines and would look nice with black pants or a skirt. Good luck if you decide to go for it!
Hi Laura! "China painting" was a huge fad among American women in the late 19th / early 20th century. They bought porcelain blanks from Europe (such as the Limoges piece you found) and applied enamel decorations over the glaze. They fired them with little portable kilns :) Decorating porcelain was one of the few socially acceptable art forms for women. They began forming societies to sell and exhibit their work. Some copied designs from special publications but many women used porcelain as a canvas to produce original - and very beautiful- art works! Whenever I come across hand-painted porcelain in thrift stores, I always pause to appreciate it :)
The algorithm just sent you my way today, so greetings from Washington, DC! Thanks for showing the vintage glass. I collect art and vintage glass, so I was glad to see you talk about it.
Love how your cat got right into your basket and wanted to play with the ribbon you were taking off! Love those cats! The basket was very sturdy, nice find. I agree with the previous comment that the curtains would make a nice kimono jacket for you. Love love love the antique bar cart you gave us a peak at! I want that! Lol but difficult to get to N.H. This GoodWill hunt of 55 stores will certainly boost your income! I cannot believe the great items you found today!
I ❤how you hold your pen. It’s darling. So satisfying seeing you cross stores off your list and still knowing there are more thrift experiences to come.
Solstice Blessings 🌞All the wood was wonderful! I’m always amazed how much home decor America has in there charity shops 😮 Thankyou 🌟Laura I love your beautiful styling display creativity 🙏🏼💖🕊🇬🇧
Center of the flowers on the jar matched the wood around it so good I wouldn't remove the flowers. If you want to keep the jar turned the flowers to the back just incase you want to resale it later.
The white apothecary was very pretty, but please don't try to remove the daisies. If you don't want to see it just turn it around. The daisies are lovely and I would love it.
I am not a flowery girl but the yellow flowers did make that jar pop. My vote is to keep it the way it is.
Awesome video.
I'm not a shopper, at 73 yrs old I'm done with that, but I really like watching your videos. 💜 💜 From Napa, California
Team flowers! Turn it when you want a change 😊
Yes.
The jar, styled with wood around it, looked beautiful with the flowers-because the wood brought out the rich color in center of the flowers. Before you styled them I would’ve said no to the floral.
Exactly
Agreed, I liked more than I thought I would
Yes , well said , I see earth tones.
I prefer it without the flowers
100 agree with this comment!
The flower side makes the arrangement of items appear organic. I think keeping the flowers on it whoever buys it can have more options to use it in different ways.
I agree, it looks less curated more spontaneous

Yes, I knew there was something I meant to comment on! Crazing = not food safe. Decor only.
I always wondered about that crazing. Thank you

The bar cart I believe is a tea trolley
Laura, you are so positive and full of joy! Pair that with your knowledge of vintage items, and you've made such a must see channel! I love this current series!
This series has been the best yet Laura! Way to go girl!!!
In that setting with all the wood I like the flowers best
5 minutes in, I say, "Yes, Yes, Yes!" to the flowers on the milk white pedestal container! They are lovely!
The Hans am Ende print depicts a peat moss ship on the Hamme river north of Bremen (Northern Germany), The river flows through the Teufelsmoor (Devil's moor) where people cut peat moss for burning and for fertilizing, and transported it by water way.

Me too! I’m in the ACT (Australia).
I think the pitcher with the flowers on it it's rather German; with typical German flowers as edelweiss, gentian, cowslip and lady's slipper orchid. Flowers from the Alps, so it could be South German or possibly Austrian or Swiss.

Thanks so much!! ❤️
Love the bamboo shade with the calla lily lamp, you should keep.
I LOVE the colors on that 1970's Mikasa set! Earth tones RULED in that decade, so Avocado Green and Harvest Gold things abounded. SO fun!
I agree with you!! Loved those and the pink satellite-looking ones were also fab!
In the 70s I had that Mikasa set in brown and gold tones . Happy memories.
@@loishampstead8760 Oooh, pretty! I had an avocado green cannister set w/yellow and white daisies!
I like the " Ying Yang" aspect of the Apothecary Jar. Just show the flower side in the height of the summer.
Quite surprised that I loved the flowers. They simply popped in a good way when you styled them up. Plus they are well executed!

Girl, I cannot say it enough; I ABSOLUTELY LOVE ❤YOUR STYLE!
I’m actually surprising myself, but on the apothecary jar…I think I like the flowers! It’s typically not my style, but the yellow plays nicely off the warm brown tones. A nice retro look😊
What’s funny is I liked it better than I thought when I filmed it flipped around too! 🌼
However trade out that blue bowl for a green one!!!
No way… plain all the wY
Love the jar with the flower side showing, however it is beautiful both ways.
The curtain material would make gorgeous and easy to make pillow covers.
I like the flowers showing on the jar
Love it with the flowers.
You are by far the most creative stylist of the items you find. Now when I thrift, I look at items and think of the ways it can be styled up. You are an inspiration.

The black dog, am I the only one who would probably touch up the tiny chip with a magic marker or something? 😁 That green Mikasa set. I was so happy you bought it! It is gorgeous and such a rarety of being in pristine condition.
I use sharpie for touch ups, even on winter jackets!
Never underestimate the touch of a Sharpie! 😉
Or black nail polish so the sheen matches.
Yep, magic markers! You often can’t tell it’s been altered with a VERY CLOSE inspection!
The Mikasa plate set is amazing!
The little wooden duck next to the wooden candle holder being left behind broke my heart 😢😢
You would be an ideal picker for a television show and you have the most kind personality and grace to mingle your way up...said anyone that watched your channel 😊
Brown lampshade on calla lily lamp was gorgeous combo

Milky glass.
Prefer no flowers displayed.. its beautiful
Apothecary Jar: I love both. Depending on what you’re displaying it with, both ways would work. Just put the flower in the back when you don’t want to use it. 😊
She pronounced it wrong, I had to rewind to be sure I didn't misheard her. I love Laura, she's a gem
Love the fabric! You could turn those curtains into throw pillows real easy! Wish my local thrift stores were as good as yours!
Without the flowers, for sure!!! Makes it classy and timeless.

Your Goodwill stores in the PNW have beautiful items that I don’t see in the Goodwill stores on the east coast. Awesome find on the Italian lamp, I was thrilled for you! Loving this series.
I don’t like those yellow flowers either. I agree that the shape and frosting are beautiful !
Lol
I love that fabric!! I say find the time to use it for a project.❤ I 'm a sewer and quilter.I liked the darker shade for the small white lamp.
I love the flowers on the milky white jar!!!
😂 I love it! I had the same reaction! I was like 🤔 when I turned it around. Even I didn’t see that potential 😂
The oval wooden table with the carving in the middle is missing the glass top. We had some when we lived in Germany
The beautiful curtions would make great decorative pillow covers.
Darker shade for the calla lily lamp definitely! PS they are my favorite flower.
I love the Calla Lilly lamp. It’s meant for a vanity table
Thank you! 😄
Yeah I like it too a lot.
I agree with you about Laura's incredible style! Also, your eyeliner really makes your eyes pop! I mean that in a good way!
Love the hat!
It caught my eye too!🤗
Flowers facing during the spring/summer months and plain white during fall/winter. Great finds!
The Mikasa set is a great investment, especially since they're marked Ben Seibel. They're also BeAuTiFuL. :)
Make yourself a long vest using the gorgeous fabric - and a matching bag with cognac suede accents ❤
I like the flowers on the jar, it goes beautifully with the way you used it.
With the flowers, it looks so good with the dark wood pieces you chose.
No to the yellow flowers...kinda tacky. Your instinct was spot on.
Whenever I come across hand-painted porcelain in thrift stores, I always pause to appreciate it :)
flowers on the vase. leave them is my vote.
Thank Jesus you’ve found some real nice things! ❤❤❤
Laura, we are all having a blast with you!!
Even days I can not go out and shop you bring me through...LOL
Yay!! Thanks so much for joining me 🥰
The algorithm just sent you my way today, so greetings from Washington, DC! Thanks for showing the vintage glass. I collect art and vintage glass, so I was glad to see you talk about it.
You always look so cute.
Definitely prefer without the flowers!
The fabric would be a fabulous table runner!
The pink rosebud vase looks like it would match perfectly with the Franciscan Dessert Rose dishes.
I'd love to see that fabric as a skirt. It is SO unique and beautiful!
Solstice Blessings 🌞All the wood was wonderful! I’m always amazed how much home decor America has in there charity shops 😮 Thankyou 🌟Laura I love your beautiful styling display creativity 🙏🏼💖🕊🇬🇧
White apothecary jar is so nice with the flowers showing. Wonderful against the wood.
I love seeing if I can spot what you're going to pick off the shelf. So fun.
